it’s cars. everywhere is cars. my brother’s commute is 45 minutes ONE WAY BY CAR to the big city in our area. grocery store? car. library? car. park and playground??? car. you want to visit family one state over? you drive for 7 hours because it’s not worth the money of a flight and there’s no train or bus to get there.

i hate it so much 😭 i managed to live without a car until a year ago but now i work nights. the one bus i could take to work stops running at 8:45 PM. it’s infuriatinggggg

thankfully, the region where i live has SOME transit. it doesn’t connect to anything like the cross-country Amtrak lines and that sucks ass. but we have a train that spans 81 miles (roughly 130 km i think) and an above-ground metro in the biggest county!

unfortunately, the buses don’t run on sundays, so you would also have to drive to the train station

one thing we love to do in the UK just as much as (if not more than) talking about the weather is complain about public transport in various ways

as someone who will not ever drive for a multitude of reasons (pedestrian safety being paramount), i can personally say that after reading this i will never complain about national express, TFL, or my hometown bus service ever again in my life

The sun was barely over the horizon, judging by the light at the windows set high in the Great Hall, and so many already lay injured. So many. Still they kept coming, and Elide kept moving, her limp becoming a dull, then a sharp ache. A minor pain, compared to what the soldiers endured. Compared to what they faced on the battlements.

She didn't let herself think of her friends.

Didn't let herself think of Lorcan, who had not come to the chamber last night and had not sought them out this morning. As if he didn't want to be near her. As if he'd taken every hateful word she'd spoken to heart.

So Elide aided—and did not stop.
