~~The Big Race~~
~~~~~~
I had this idea in my head for a long time. Various competitors signed up for the competition (remember the cowboy?), but the race was supposed to be rather intimate... And then suddenly a huge crowd of spectators appeared with flags and screams of joy! 🪲🐞🪰
I can feel the Hollow Knight vibe from them.
Weird Medieval Marginalia
So I got to see an epically cool manuscript of Arthurian romance (Beinecke MS 229), written in French sometime in the thirteenth or fourteenth century. It contains many fully illuminated illustrations, but the most interesting thing about it turned out to be the marginalia.
All the big images were the same kinds of scenes of knights fighting, people going into or out of buildings, people lying in bed, occasionally people on boats or talking, etc. After a while they just felt repetitive. But there are these little cartoons in the margins, and they are WILD:
Tumblr media
I mean I don’t even know what’s going on here.
Tumblr media
Apparently knights fighting snails appear in a lot of manuscripts. We have no idea what they mean. Might be the medieval version of a meme.
Tumblr media
What even is that gray thing?
Tumblr media
Knight riding chicken.
Tumblr media
Derpy horse.
Tumblr media
A very weird-looking unicorn.
Tumblr media
Rabbits hunting people. (RUN AWAY!!! RUN AWAY!!!)
Tumblr media
Balancing act.
Tumblr media
Baby Yoda in the corner there.
Tumblr media
WHAT
There’s plenty more, but that’s as much as I can fit into one post. And this is all one manuscript!
Ride swiftly and beware, o painted knight,       Of monsters lurking in the marginalia: Infernal quails and wingèd snails in flight,       Claws, inky jaws, and kings in strange regalia, And things whose gilded stings strike home despite       Your armor’s solid lines — it seems there’s daily a New threat — and if you smudge the printed hymn, The scribe himself may tear you limn from limn.
Knight in Jeans | Hangman A.P.
Tumblr media
Summary: Adam comes home after Full Gear.
Author's Note: It's cheesy and I don't care. Lol.
Adam laid on his back in the arena. The bright lights shining on him as if they were exposing him. Exposing the man that she decided to marry for what he really was. A man that couldn't even get revenge for his wife. The very man that lost.
He lost.
Lost to the man that broke into his house and terrorized you. Lost to the man that showed no remorse as you felt unsafe in the place you two built to call home. He tried to piece together what he could have done differently to win. Adam gave it his all. What else could he have possibly done?
🐎
Plane rides home usually lifted his spirits. Flying on an airplane meant he was almost home to see his wife. The very woman that always stood by the door to greet him home. Now he was left with his broken thoughts.
He remembered the way she cried when Adam came home after Swerve broke in. His wife's face crumpled at the sight of him. Fresh tears stained her cheeks. Her arms wrapped around his neck never wanting to let go.
She invited friends to help her sleep at night. A sleepover, she assured him, no one is ever too old for a sleepover. Jealousy gripped him. How he wished he could have been there to comfort her.
He could feel the tears in his eyes. The way his throat closed as he tried to swallow his emotions. He was on the fastest way to travel, but he felt like they were going at a snail's pace.
🐎
Adam wasn't sure what to expect when he unlocked the door. Would she even love him anymore? Love the man that can't keep her safe. Doubts filled his mind. Maybe he shouldn't have come home. The door opened before him.
"Oh, sweetheart," you smiled and cupped his cheeks in your hands. Your eyes shined as they took all of him in. Constant reminders to be gentle with him after his brutal match once you saw his wounds. "I missed you. I am just so afraid to hug you,"
Adam cleared his throat and chuckled dryly. He stepped inside and placed his belongings down. All the pain he felt washed away once you acted the same.
"Come on, I have dinner," you smiled and grabbed his hand. He happily followed you like a puppy.
🐎
The normal routine once he was home drove him mad. You were so normal as if he wasn't the biggest failure on the planet.
"I don't know how you can want me anymore," he whispered. Tensions in the room almost tripled. You figured something was wrong when he barely spoke at dinner and the rest of the evening.
"I think you take care of me fine. Did I say or do something to make you feel that way?" You asked worried you caused him distress. After that match you wanted him as comfortable and happy as possibly. He shook his head.
"No, no, no. It's me," he sighed and ran his fingers through his blonde hair. He winced feeling the effects from Saturday night. "I left you all alone and he came in our house. I lost to him and I couldn't get revenge for what he did to you,"
"You did everything you could. You bled in front of thousands of people. No matter what you are still my knight in jeans," you whispered and cuddled into him. You placed your head on his chest listening to his heartbeat. His fingers played with your hair as a smile appeared on his face.
Character based on my favourite historical art series: Knights vs giant snails vs bipedal rabbits. And in general medieval manuscrypt doodles.
Filiptos is a rabbit knight, with unusual for the job jester hat. That's actualy not a hat, but magical slug-like creature that contorls flow and the speed of time. It can create time-bubbles, slowing attackers or making 8-hours sleep last 6 seconds. It seems to understand thoughts of person wearing it, not always following them though. Filiptos is almost deaf due to ears being cut off in a battle, hat helps hide this, and slows people when they speak, making lips reading easier, and maybe hats translates it too? Filip sometimes has thoughts that don't seem to belong to him. It's a partnership beneficial for both site, hat is absurdly shaped and so slow it needs to use time powers everywhere to get enough food, and that's quite exhausting, so free ride and food on knights head is very power-saving.
Merlin could tell Arthur the truth about him being a sorcerer and a dragon lord. Merlin was also able to save Arthur’s life. Now that Arthur was alive, Merlin thought that Arthur was mad at him.
“Please forgive me, Arthur,” Merlin pleaded.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Arthur asked.
“I was told not to,” Merlin said.
“I want to see you with the dragons. I want to see your powers,” Arthur said.
Merlin called killgarah. They heard the flapping of wings, and Killgarah appeared.
“I love how you do that. It is amazing. I thought I knew everything about you, but I didn’t. I will make you court sorcerer when we are back in Camelot.
“Clotepole,” Merlin said affectionately.
“I think I like you in a new way,” Arthur said.
“A half cannot hate that which makes it whole,” Killgarah said.
“You do make me whole. You complete me. Even if you are a complete and total idiot,” Arthur said.
“Prat,” Merlin said.
“Should we ride the dragon?” Arthur asked.
“I’m not a service for getting you from one place to another,” Killgarah said.
“This is the one and future king who is still weak from near death. We should take him to Camelot to rest,” Merlin said.
“Fine,” Killgarah nodded in assent.
Merlin and Arthur climbed on the dragon. Arthur puts his arms around Merlin.
“I do forgive you for not telling me about your magic. I understand why you didn’t tell me anything when Father was king, but why didn’t you try to legalise magic when I became king?” Arthur asked.
“I did what I thought was best. Now, we can build Albion as it was supposed to be and bring magic back to all of Albion. I was born to serve you, Arthur,” Merlin said.
“Can I try something?” Arthur asked.
Merlin nodded. Arthur leaned in and kissed Merlin. The kiss was a relief. Merlin was relieved that Arthur was still alive. He did not fail in his life mission. Arthur knew the truth, and they were united, and Arthur was now kissing him. It was magical. Merlin could not believe that Arthur was kissing him. His magic was singing, and he could feel it burst to life. Arthur tightens his hold around Merlin’s middle as they ride the dragon.
Soon, they arrive in Camelot. Gauis, Gwen, and the knights are waiting for them.
Arthur took Merlin’s hand, and Merlin tripped over himself. Arthur caught Merlin and straightened him up.
“Idiot,” Arthur said fondly.
“Prat,” Merlin said fondly.
“Let’s go, and we have a lot to do. Killgarah, thank you for the ride. We have much to do to make magic legal in Albion. You and aithusa are to be our official dragons of Camelot,” Arthur said.
Arthur takes Merlin’s hand in his own and smiles at him. Merlin could not believe that Arthur now knew all of him. He has no secrets from Arthur, and Arthur wants to be with him. The real him. Arthur thanked him for everything, and now they were together.
“YOu should get your things and move them into my chamber. We shall live together,” Arthur said.
“Aren’t we moving fast?” Merlin asked.
“I feel like we moved at a snail's pace the last ten years. There is no time to waste,” Arthur said.
“Arthur, do you truly forgive me for hiding who I was from you all those years?” Merlin asked.
“The first time I met you, I felt there was something about you that I could never name. You have spent the last ten years saving my life daily. You have served me the best that you could, Idiot. There is nothing to forgive. You and I are meant to be. Remember when I gave you my mother’s sigil? That was me saying I need you. Now I truly know how much,” Arthur said.
“Clotepole,” Merlin said fondly. “I’d happily serve you daily. My purpose in life is to serve you, and I will do it forever.”
Arthur and Merlin arrived at their chamber, and Arthur put his arms around Merlin and kissed him. The kiss was a lot like the first one. It gave everything that they wanted to say for all those years. Merlin and Arthur were so happy that they finally had the opportunity to share all of themselves with each other. They would spend the rest of their time showing each other how much they mean to each other. Arthur and Merlin are united for all eternity as two sides of the same coin.
Illumination: The art of decorating books by hand, ranging from simple elaborations of letters with crosshatching to full-blown miniature landscapes drawn in the margins. Illumination is an art that was predominantly practiced in the Middle Ages, but it is still alive today. Medieval illuminators are (in)famous for their sense of whimsy and there are entire social media sites dedicated to ferreting out amusing illuminations of knights riding on snails, monkeys performing medical procedures, and cats engaging in household chores.
Had a dream/nightmare about a group of families going back to a city to try to forget a traumatic event that happened five years prior
There where five families, it's unclear if the older couples are grandparents or parents, but each has one or two "kids" each (they are all adults) (there's five couples, and each has at least one kid)
They all stayed at a mansion and apparently they all have "superpowers", mostly they don't use them and just go around the city visiting touristic sites and all that
Then the traumatic even starts to repeat, this time targeting the younger ones, creatures and villains try to kill them and the only safe place is the house, they have a meeting talking about that
One of the guys has like, a tree body somewhere else and when he goes to visit someone starts to cut it
And apparently during the time he wasn't checking on the tree it just became sort of a dungeon so he fights skeleton knights to get to the top where the cutting started and finds a rich kid trying to get a tree house, he then fails to convince the kid of not cutting the tree and the tree is cut
Nothing happens to the guy but he keeps visiting the new tree that was planted over his and feeling lonely
Then one of the "kids" doesn't believe in that and goes to have a touristic bus ride and the driver starts to say something about the incident five years ago and the girl/guy (it changes through the dream, he ends up being a guy) says it was their family that went through that
And then the bus comes to a bridge and suddenly there's screams and stuff behind them and someone says something about a guy that pukes corrosive acid or fire or something is going around and the guy starts to get nervous and looking through all the windows
The noises and screams start to get worse and the driver decides to not stop anywhere and just get this people somewhere else, and they pass through a place with big walls around the houses and statues all over and the guy asks something about living statues and the driver says there used to be one but it stays still now, just for a statue to look directly at her with glowing eyes and melting metal
Then she gets out and starts running away through different places and finds a crowd and starts trying to get lost there but the thing that is trying to get her already saw her and is not really against crushing and melting everything on its path, and when she looks back she sees that the thing is a gargoyle that is starting to fly to catch her
Then she starts using her powers, which is shapeshift
He gets in the walls becoming graffiti and trying to get from wall to wall, the problem is that his powers work leaving a body behind, basically body jumping from a form to another, and his graffiti is very distinct, so he becomes just letters and tries to get away from the gargoyle that keeps shooting at the walls
At some point he gets away and sees the gargoyle go away just to pass close by on a car (yes, the gargoyle can drive, even the dream pointed out it was weird), he then notices he is close to the house and gets in the garden, transforming in a toy snail and staying like that until he's sure he can go in without being seen
He enters the house and there's like a labyrinth of fucking stairs and he gets in them (he also took the snail toy with him and is holding it tight the whole time), he finds a woman at the top of the stairs and says "who are you?" Waving a hand at her face very slowly, she takes pity on him and guides him to the others that are also hiding (they knew each other, he was just paranoid) he also does the same with them and they start talking about how to survive, since their elders where the one to survive originally (they are also not there for some reason)
The guy shows his snail and says "this was the form I had to use to escape, this is the body I had to use"
They keeps talking while the guy keeps staring at his old body cradled in his hands
And then I woke up, also at some point I was just me going on a date with a classmate in a fair, nothing to do with the rest of the story, but it was nice
Before Yesterday Began
Chapter 1 of the fic. I figured I'd put it here, since I'm still waiting on an invite from AO3.
Summary
-
A time displaced knight learns about how the world is generations after the great war of monsters and humans.
-
Chapter 1: A Knight Named Pike
-
“Your Majesty.”
“Hm? Yes, Sir Pike?”
Queen Toriel smiled back at me from her place among the flower beds. She looked at peace, and I almost cursed myself for disturbing that. But I could not understand the detour she had chosen to take. The war was raging as always, and it was my job to get her back safely. Yet, as always it seemed, she liked to make that very hard to accomplish.
“We must be getting back soon. The King-” I started, trying to keep my voice even and respectful.
Queen Toriel batted at the air dismissively, “Oh, Gorey can wait. Do not worry yourself now.”
I tried not to sigh or tap my foot in my anxiousness. She was the Queen, and therefore, her word was my law. There was no argument to be had, and yet I wish I could have. Her safety was of utmost importance, and I will lay my life out for her when that time comes. And yet I still could not convince her to leave for her own well-being. At the very least, I wish she would have requested more guards to accompany her today. I do not doubt mine or my majesty's abilities in a fight, but it would have made me feel better nonetheless.
“Sir Pike, come.” The Queen gestured for me, and so I was at her side a moment later.
In her hands that she held out for me, bending down so it was at my height, she held a snail. It was a small thing, with a tan colored shell and yellowish color everywhere else. Snails. Of course her majesty had been looking for snails, I honestly should have known that.
“It is the first one I have seen this calendar year.” She spoke joyfully, with a brightness in her eyes that could have made me melt. “Soon, there will be enough for Snail pie. Oh, are you not excited?”
I let out a small laugh, for her sake. Truth be told, I had never been fond of her majesty's snail pies, but I ate every bite she had ever offered me. If Queen Toriel was happy, so was I.
“That is wonderful, Your Majesty. I shall be looking forward to it.” I nodded my head respectfully, and she beamed at me.
Queen Toriel leaned back into the grass to release the snail, before standing up tall. She took in one last look at the view before turning my way again.
“Alright then, I suppose it is time for us to return to our usual duties. Thank you, for indulging me, Sir Pike.”
Never have I been sure why she always thanked me for things like this. It was my job, this is what was expected. Queen Toriel, I had learned over my years serving her, was simply exceptionally kind and profusely polite, even when she did not have to be. It was not her place to thank me, an average member of her royal guard, but she did regardless. This was very different from the human king I had heard of. Serving him would most likely have been a much more miserable experience. So I came to thank my good fortune to end up with King Asgore and Queen Toriel instead.
-
On our way back, it was an easy trip. Queen Toriel had invited me to ride in the carriage with her, but as always I declined. It simply was not my place, and I had to be outside so I could be aware of any threats that could endanger my Queen. That was my job.
Luckily, nothing happened. And we made it back into the walls with no trouble. The palace, and surrounding city inside the walls was the most secure place in the entire kingdom. Many refugees found their way here during this war. It was the royal family's pride and joy. It was completely self-sustaining, and everyone here had peaceful lives. Though I knew the King and Queen's souls ached with the wish their whole kingdom could live this way, as they had before the humans started being aggressive. No matter how much I tried, I could never ease those worries of the Queen.
“Oh! Stop the carriage!” Queen Toriel's voice suddenly called out. Instantly our carriage driver obliged and I wondered what this was about.
“My dearest apologies, but look!” She stepped out of the carriage without even waiting for someone to open the door, and pointed out to a show happening in the town square.
It seems as if a group of dancers were performing for the crowd, and the clapping and cheering filled the air. Children were joining in, and the music being played was certainly delightful, no wonder it had captured the Queen's attention.
“Sir Pike, come with me. We must get a chance to dance!”
I nearly tripped over my own feet trying to catch up with her. Adjusting my cape as it threatened to fall off my shoulders. The citizens lit up when they saw Queen Toriel, and parted ways so she could get closer. My Queen was happy, clapping along with everyone and swaying back and forth with the rhythm. I stood at her side, keeping alert and minding the participants of the crowd. Some eyed me cautiously and I did not have to question why. It did not matter how many years I served, the kingdom I served would always be wary of me. I understood. I understood all too well.
“Sir Pike!” Toriel called to me, holding out her pawed hands, “Come now, you should dance too!”
For a moment, I froze. I was not a dancer, and it would be unbecoming to dance while I was on duty protecting the Queen. But the look on her face was insistent, and knowing her majesty, she was too stubborn to let me say no. So, I joined in. I spun and moved my feet in a way I am sure was awkward. It really was quite hard, with my scaled armor and heavy boots. But Queen Toriel was overjoyed, and that makes it all worth it I suppose.
If only it had stayed this way. But that was too much to hope for, unfortunately. It seemed only moments later that cries of terror broke through the city. The dance came to a halt, and citizens began gathering their children. We knew what this meant. There was an attack, this time at our walls.
Instantly, I moved. Placing myself in front of the Queen I urged her back to the carriage. My eyes scanned the crowd making sure the young ones had all made it back to their guardians.
“Your Majesty, we must get you somewhere safe!” I shouted over the chaos. And this time she allowed me to do so.
Sir Pike.” Her voice had changed, it was firm and determined, she was issuing me an order. “Once I am inside the palace, locate Sir Gerson and follow whatever plan he has. Keep everyone safe as you are able.”
I nodded affirmatively, and escorted her back to the carriage. As we moved swiftly down the street, many people were running and there were plenty of crying. Over my shoulder I could see the signs of human weapons and magic working their way through the walls. Our soldiers stationed there were fighting valiantly, and I sent my best hopes to them under my breath even though they could not hear me.
When we were at the steps, I watched Queen Toriel go. Truthfully, I wanted to follow her, so I could be with her and ensure her safety. But an order was an order, and I had to find Sir Gerson. Thinking quickly, I reasoned that him and whatever soldiers he had with him would already be moving to the epicenter of the attack. I knew all the routes, and I made a guess as to which he would take. So I sprinted back through the city with the hope of intercepting them. On my way I ushered a few people inside and shouted for everyone to make sure every member of their family was present and accounted for. I do not know if anyone heard me, but it was all I could do at the moment.
But I never made it to the walls, nor did I meet up with Sir Gerson. Before I could, something strange happened to me. It was a blinding light, and a sparkling sensation traveling through my limbs. Has someone struck me? Why had I not heard them coming?
It must be a mage, nasty servants of the human rulers. Their magic, while not as potent as a monsters, were always used in ways that struck fear into anyones soul. But no matter what I concluded, I could not do anything, as my movement was seemingly stopped. And in an instant the ground beneath me disappeared and I felt like I was falling.
Teleportation. I was familiar with it. That is what this was, a strangely powerful long-range teleportation spell. That would be a new one, as contact was usually a requirement, but you could never truly know anything these days I suppose. For what purpose, I had yet to find out. Mentally, I prepared to land amongst enemies. I was prepared to put up a fight.
-
It took a long time before I stopped falling. And the result was that I was very disoriented when I finally met the ground again. The first thing I registered was the fact that I had landed hard, and my legs buckled sending me crashing into the ground. The second thing was that I was not alone. The sounds of multiple people shuffling around me, shouts of words I could not make out and a strange buzzing filled my ears. A hand reached down to grab my arm, and in dizziness I did not see who it was.
Not willing to risk being taken captive by human enemies, I got to my feet quickly and with the attackers still on my arm I threw them off of me. Drawing my sword and shaking my head to clear it.
“Woah! Hey, I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you.” The voice was… surprisingly kind and concerned sounding.
I focused my gaze and what I saw was a surprise. There were multiple skeleton monsters staring back at me. Their expressions varied from surprise, to a defensive fear to one that just looked completely exhausted. The one directly in front of me looked concerned, with bright blue eyes that were taking in my stance with a practiced calculating sort of expression. He was wearing a uniform, with the royal insignia on it. He was a soldier then, I could not identify his division, which was strange. But there was no doubt, he was an ally, and I had just made a terrible first impression.
My sword found its sheath moments later. I righted myself and stood up straight, keeping myself composed. I took a moment to get a look at my surroundings. It was dark, with only a few dull overhead lights, strange metal contraptions layed around, with two tables full of papers and tools filled the space. Whatever had brought me here was a mystery, but I could figure it out at a later date.
“I am terribly sorry, my friend.” My words came out quickly as I tried to keep myself from getting flustered. “I did not realize you were one of our own, my head got a bit turned around, and as such I confused you for the enemy. I am Sir Pike.” I bowed my head apologetically. I could not afford to be mistrusted any further.
He did not say anything and looked over his shoulder at the other three monsters. There were two others as short as he was, though wearing different, stranger attire and a tall one in a loose hooded garment who looked much like he wanted to say something but was choosing not to.
“You are a soldier.” I continued analyzing his outfit, it was not one I recognized, I really must be a long way from the palace. “Could you tell me what division you are a part of? And where I have found myself?”
I hope the battle was going in our favor, we may have yet to acquire power that equals the humans, but that does not mean we could not be winning. We had won battles before, and I truly felt we could escape the fate the humans wanted us to face.
The monster's face grew more confused as I spoke more, and he took a tentative step towards me. I folded my arms behind my back, not only does it appear polite but it shows I have no intention to draw my weapon again. He seemed to notice that, and relaxed his shoulders.
“Hello, I’m Blue. Sorry about-” He waved his hand around in a circular motion, “-all this. You’re in Ebott.” He furrowed the bones above his eyes like a brow, like he was trying to figure something out, “...Are you a royal guard?”
… That was odd. Everyone had heard gossip about me, the human knight in the royal guard. And our specialized uniform was very recognizable. He seemed confused, maybe he just thought I’d look different? Also, Ebott? I have never heard of it, this was all becoming stranger by the minute.
I nodded, “That is correct.” I noticed he did not answer my question about his division. Which was odd. But he seemed respectable, and was clearly a kind soul. I would have to find a record of this ‘Blue’ later, once I returned to the Queens side.
The others behind him were murmuring amongst themselves. They seemed to be panicking, like something bad had happened.
“Apologies, I hope not to interrupt, but is everything alright?” I addressed them directly, which caused them all to pause and glance over at me.
A different skeleton stepped forward, it was one of the shorter ones, in a dusty blue, strangely styled, long sleeved top with a hood attached. He was the tired looking one, who looked at me with a grim expression. Something was going on here, and an unsettling feeling washed over me.
“Can you tell me where you’re from?” He asked, “And be specific.”
His tone was a bit off putting, but I suppose I did just startle them by appearing here, so I obliged, “I am Sir Pike.” I repeated, “I serve in the kingdom's royal guard, and was stationed to be on call for Queen Toriel.” I hesitated watching their eyes grow wide, “The palace is under attack, there must have been human mages there, as I was teleported unexpectedly to this location.”
Blue covered his mouth with his hands, and the other one who had approached rubbed his temple. The other too shared an unknowable look between them.
“...What exactly is going on here?” I questioned, maybe a bit too defensively.
Blue moved towards me again, offering out a hand to me, which I took. He had this starstruck lookin his eyes that made me feel warm under my armor.
“Stars above, you’re from the monster-human war!” He said it like it was unbelievable.
But of course I was. What other war would I be a part of? My head could not put the pieces together of this mystery that had been set in front of me. Blue hesitated looking over his shoulder at the one in the blue hooded outfit, who just shrugged in response to a question they hadn’t needed to communicate verbally. Blue turned back to me.
“This is going to sound weird.” Everything was weird right now, so that was not a surprise. “But you’ve been brought forward in time. The war is long over.”
Oh. Well I was not expecting that.
Tarot doesn’t always have to be so serious; it can be lighthearted while at the same time dishing out the cold hard truth with a side of humor. Filled with snails, cakes, fly-traps, and octopus, this deck is a modern and colorful twist on the traditional Tarot de Marseille. The Squid Cake Marseille is a seventy-eight-card deck in which you’ll discover knights riding creatures, quirky faces, and a delicious color palette! Bring a little lightheartedness to your readings while dishing out the cold hard truth . . . with a side of humor! Regardless of whether The Chariot is being pulled by two snails instead of horses or The Hierophant is giving advice to two pink birds rather than people, the message is still the same.
For commissions should we contact you here on Tumblr? If so I have something I would love to commission! It would be a little larger, due to the length of the text:
You are perfectly entitled to your wrong opinion
As to the design itself, I am totally open to suggestions; it's one I whip out when arguing with people online, but I'm also happy to see maybe some medieval marginalia type things such as rabbit knights riding snails or similar silliness. (This would be to frame in my house so visitors know who they're dealing with upon entry.)
Hello! Yes, for anyone trying to get a commission, the process is to either contact me here on Tumblr or Discord. (@ravensnest1) . You tell me everything about what you want on your piece and we hash out the details in the dms.
hear me out with this one
owl house nobles au. witches are still witches, human realm is still a thing with no formal way of crossing into the other.
first act would be a snapshot of the past. Human realm side, we see Camila and Manny (we are ignoring world human history because I just don’t have the energy to go through that whole can of worms. it exists but somehow they still meet and nothing terrible is happening to them directly). they’re not nobles, they’re just regular village folk making a living.
Demon side, we see the whole crew: Raine, Eda, Lilith, Gilbert, Darius, etc etc. Darius, Alador, and Odalia are nobles. Perry and Raine’s families are up there but not as high as those three. and Eda and Lilith’s family is well known for their palisman carving skills like in the show. Harvey serves as a knight for Gilbert’s father and is bound to Gil as his sworn protector.
Eda still gets cursed, Lils is still the one to give it to her, but it also adds another ingredient of bad news because after the OB attacks Dell, they aren’t able to get work anywhere. Eda least of all because of the curse. So Lilith works extra hard for the emperor because not only did she doom her sister, but her entire family. and the emperor is still giving her a spot at the EC.
Their friends are told by their families not to see them again, including Raine who was just given the okay to formally court Eda by both their parents.
Act 2 is Cami and Luz saying their goodbyes to each other as Luz is forced to hide in a neighboring village for being suspected of witchcraft. In reality, she’s just an exceptionally gifted child with a pension for accidental mischief. Camila reassured her that it’s just for a few months until the heat is off of them, and that she’ll join her there by the next full moon.
Luz inherited her fathers small collection of books (also the reason they thought she was a witch). Unfortunately, the fall off of the back of the wagon she’s riding in and, unable to call the riders attention, she just fuckin jumps out. Same as the show, she notices Owlbert making off with her stuff and chases after him and into the demon realm.
But instead of the Isles, it’s on Eda’s ship AKA The Owl’s…Nest? Still workshopping that name. The boat itself is huge and used to be a transport ship for her father’s business.
She still needs Luz to help her retrieve King’s crown. It’s still not a real crown. but now the extra added reason is that nobody else on the crew was willing to do it. King, in this case, is the cabin boy.
Somewhere in the middle, Luz let’s it slip that she never heard of places where girls could go to school. Eda hears that and is blown away that they’d ban a whole ass gender and “how would you even know the difference anyhow?” which sparks a whole new line of questions and questionable old timey human realm logic. “next you’re gonna say you can’t marry girls either!” and basically Eda is tempted to offer Luz and Camila free room and board on the ship until they can get a place of their own. “But isn’t school expensive?” “only the fancy ones. the most costly things in the normal ones are supplies and milk. supplies depend on where you get them and milk is a single snail”
The Owl House itself still exists Eda doesn’t stay often. Whenever she has to leave Luz alone to go on longer expeditions, she leaves Hooty to watch over her. she also eventually starts leaving King behind as well.
The petrification ceremony is overall the same, including the end where Lilith splits the curse. I wanna say that we get to see Raine’s reaction this time as their childhood crush is turning to stone right before their eyes. Seeing that makes them more aggressive in their rebellion.
Now Lilith stays with Luz when Eda goes on her exploits. Most of the crew leaves though since Eda has no magic. It’s just her, King, and Salty now.
Vee gets found out much quicker, but is still given the same amount of kindness. Jacob is ten times worse though. He’s basically carting Vee off to sell to the highest bidder, he’s hoping it’ll be a scientist that’ll let him watch the dissection though. Camila saves her, leaves Jacob on a dingy, sails back to Gravesfield, and has Vee live as her daughter.
When Raine and Eda meet again, it’s mostly the same way. But now Eda is more worried for them because their family is now practically royalty and they should be doing that, getting married, having kids, something that won’t tarnish their name or reputation. This is when Raine drops that they saw the petrification ceremony and that they couldn’t sit back and let things just happen anymore. Their family went from just court musicians with a child prodigy to that child growing up and becoming Coven head. At some point, Raine even confessed to Eda that they always planned on courting her. But after they were banned from ever seeing her again, they never had the chance.
it still ends the same way.
Luz still meets Willow and Gus and Amity at Hexside. Not the fanciest school, more like middle class? it’s more or less the same story. When Eda meets Amity, she expects her to be like a mini-Odalia. I mean.. based on how we saw her the first few times, she kind of was. But the biggest difference was that she still gave a shit about other people. Odalia was always looking out for her best interest and hers alone.
We cannot ignore the historical important of being a silly knight riding a snail.
Tumblr media
Look, I don't make the rules. There are specific dress codes for using specific fantastical beasts as mounts, and if you're riding a giant snail, that dress code includes a top hat and vest – no exceptions.
