reading yet another ya dystopia novel/series and as i read this one i just keep getting flashes of Other young adult dystopian novels that i've read and their various different mechanisms for controlling and manipulating their populations and now i'm imagining a horrifying fanfic/au for all of them where i combine All of it. the resulting society. horrific (and also probably highly contradictory)

#wick lore #thinking of the giver plus uglies and then #these two possibly less popular series one called “glitch” by heather anastasiu the other called “matched” by ally condie #(titles of first books in their respective series anyway)#the idea of combining The Giver and Uglies is hilarious because SPOILERS FOR THE GIVER BELOW #everyone in the society (“Community” ?) that jonas is from in the giver is colorblind and Doesn't Even Know.#meanwhile uglies theyre like. all about aesthetics #their societies are sorta opposed to each other conceptually but that would make trying to combine them even more fun #and it wouldn't be about keeping every detail just the things that seem absolutely foundational to their totalitarianism #had to look up what the correct term was for the kind of governments often seen in dystopias #anyway. yeah. maybe id fashion a concept for it just to have fun
