recent purchase 💸 i've been trying to slow down with my book buying this year (it's not going well), but ever since i saw 'the house on via gemito' on the international booker longlist, i knew i wanted to read it. especially because italy is one of the countries i'm focusing on this year for my "read around the world" challenge!!

jamesssss hi. this is very random but as the local italian guy who reads i have to ask you about the two italian novels that were nominated for the international booker prize this year. i know neither of them made the shortlist but i read lost on me the other day and i'm reading the house on via gemito now and i'm curious if you've read either or any of the other books by the authors and if you have what you think or if there are any fun behind the scenes stories or controversial opinions the general public has that you know about or anything of the like. it's ok if you don't though i'm just being nosey and like knowing the cultural backgrounds of the books i read and for for example found it interesting how on goodreads most of the locals were only giving lost on me one or two stars while foreign readers were far more positive which made me wonder if there's any tea about veronica raimo i'm missing out on as a non-italian...... sorry for bothering you i hope you're having a nice day <3
hiiii how are you doing? ♡♡♡
youre not bothering at all!! alas, sorry to disappoint but unfortunately i dont read a lot of italian lit especially contemporary 😔😔 ive heard of both the authors but never read anything by them... about veronica raimo i know next to nothing, but one lukewarm cup of tea i can give you on domenico starnone (you might have heard of this before) is some people believed or maybe still believe that hes the real elena ferrante... because of similar styles i think? other people think it's not him but his wife anita raja... idk if any of is true though its all speculation...
how are you liking them? would you rec them?
