Classic comics era artist, chiefly known for The Girl Commandos and The Blonde Bomber

Born September 9, 1919, Died April 28, 2014

Barbara Hall drew the adventures of The Girl Commandos in Harvey Comics' Speed Comics and The Blonde Bomber in Green Hornet Comics in the early 1940s. She died April 28, 2014 at age 94 in Vermont.

Pulptober 2024 Day 3: Green Hornet

One of the interesting things about the Green Hornet is that his gimmick of pretending to be a criminal horning in on the rackets of other criminals shouldn't be sustainable for the long run. Eventually people will notice that any crook who comes into contact with the bug guy winds up in jail, and the Green Hornet never makes any money from his supposed crimes. Plus his "no killing" thing. The people of the city might never trust him, but they're not going to buy that he's a villain for very long.

It does help some that the most reliable news source in town is the Sentinel, the newspaper run by Brit Reid (aka the Hornet), and they're constantly issuing editorials against that criminal the Green Hornet. Brit's basically his own J. Jonah Jameson.

Plus, we'll hear "Final Returns," a story from The Whistler about a politician who decides to vote his domineering wife out of his life permanently (originally aired on CBS on October 29, 1945).
