AND LET ME TELL YOU WHY 🗣❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️

In this scene, Steb has his ears pinned back. His ears naturally rest pointing outward from his head. In the second scene, it looks like he's holding them back, but if you look closer in the first one, they're actually just resting flat against his head.

I see a lot of people saying that it's probably due to him being sad about Maddie's betrayal, but I feel like that's a little too vague. YES, he's most likely sad that his buddy stabbed him in the back, but I feel like it's more a shame kind of thing.

IN THE GIF BELOW, you'll see what I'm talking about. He looks over at Caitlyn, but after giving her a small glance, he looks back down, seeming to show some kind of shame or defeat. (Maybe even hopelessness?) There doesn't appear to be an out in their situation, and Steb knows that. I suppose he COULD be ashamed that he had trusted Maddie, but I feel like it's mainly just the defeat from the battle.

You can see his whole ear in the kneeling scene, and it's clear that he's not touching it. His ears just naturally pin back during some situations.

Not only that, but there are multiple scenes where you can see his ears twich. (I picked scenes from the same episode since it's easier to see here.)

But this is where my third bullet point comes in, as well as why I'm kind of iffy on it. During the fight with the shimmer guys, Steb almost gets FUCKING SPLIT IN HALF, but Loris comes in clutch and sheilds Steb.

While Steb is curled up for the impact, he pins his ears against his head, as you can see here.

I feel like him being "Scared" isn't exactly the reason why he pinned his ears against his head. During the whole fighting scene, you can tell he is QUITE terrified, but he didn't have his ears pinned back until the scene above. I feel like it's less terror and more tension. He tensed up and curled on himself due to him expecting impact, causing him to pin his ears back.

Genuinely tweaking out how I literally just read through all of the Steb fanfiction on both AO3 AND WATTPAD, ONE OF WHICH IS MY OWN WORK in less than a day. Where is this boy's love?? He deserves more fanfictions and more love😕

Last night’s session of Portal Pressure started out with finishing up the battle against a rakshasa and a cloud giant that had begun at the end of the previous session. The godling the party was there to rescue had transformed our druid, Asherah, into a blue dragon. That turned out to be very helpful in the fight. The transformation only lasted for 3 rounds but that was more than enough time to help us take out the rakshasa (he was defeated but isn’t dead, since after being dropped to 0 HP the rakshasa got sent back to his home plane).

Ashscale used her magic to turn Ironheart --who was being held captive by the cloud giant-- into his large-sized battle form and together the two of them kicked butt against the cloud giant. Also the cloud giant almost killed Asherah right after her dragon transformation had ended.

Cue our wizard Steb running over to stand over Asherah’s unconscious body to protect her, even though he was really low on health and had he could’ve easily been killed by the cloud giant. That caused our cleric, Lemon, to get mad at Steb because she was almost out of spell slots and couldn’t have saved two downed party members were he to have gone down too. Luckily Ashscale killed the cloud giant before he could attack Steb or Asherah.

At the end of the fight we realized that Asherah hadn’t entirely transformed back into her usual self...the godling’s magic had turned her into a half dragon!

She’s now got blue scales and a dragon-y face, but with the goat horns she’s always had instead of dragon horns. Asherah got some stares from Ashscale because seeing her party member like that painfully reminded Ashscale of the fact she doesn’t have blue scales or skin anymore. Luckily for Ashscale, Asherah asked the godling if he could make her look the way she did before because she wasn’t a fan of her new dragon face. The godling used some illusion magic to make her look like her old self. She’s still a half dragon, she just doesn’t look like it now.

There was some more interesting stuff that happened, including some things with Ashscale’s intelligent ring and Ironheart, but this post is starting to get long so I’ll write that up in a separate post.
