“JJ coming back would be so unrealistic” WHEN HAS OUTER BANKS EVER BEEN REALISTIC?
If this show was aiming for realism then it would’ve ended on episode 1 season 1 “The Pilot” when a group of 16 years old on a beaten up boat were getting chased and shot at with rifles by two professionals snipers.
Literally a show about treasures, teenagers escaping death on the daily, no death person staying death, enchanted caves and El Dorado, magical crowns and pirates… THE FACE OF REALITY!
And if we wanna discuss “medical realism” be for real, not only Sarah was DEAD for like 20 minutes with a flat heart and came back with 10 minutes of CPR inaccurately done, but she was also shot IN THE OVARIES and a year and a half later she is pregnant with no problem and without even trying.
They escaped bullets, survived a deserted islands, Sarah came back to life from a flat heartbeat, Big John didn’t drown unconsciously face down in the ocean for hours, Ward survived an exploading boat and a coma, they survived kidnapping from armed soldiers, survived snipers, survived sailing a fishing boat through the entire Atlantic Ocean with Sarah and JJ surviving drowning in a storm in open water, Sarah and John B survived diving a dark underwater cave that the navy would train 10 years to explore, they found the lost city of El Dorado in a magical cave that presented itself when Sarah touched an enchanted glowing rock and not to mention all the wounds and near death experience/danger they all went through… BUT GOD FORBID IF JJ WAS IN A TEMPORARY COMA AND DIG HIMSELF OUT 1 MINUTE LATER OR IF THE CROWN BROUGHT HIM BACK DOING EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAID THE CROWN’S POWER COULD DO, IT WOULD SUDDENLY BE TOO MUCH FOR THIS SHOW APPARENTLY!!!
And I’m not saying it’s gonna happen or we can expect it to happen, but quit making fans feel stupid for only THEORIZING about it and having ideas for it. This show isn’t realistic, has never been realistic and people literally came back from the dead from way worse injuries. It’s not like people are theorizing resurrection in a Gilmore Girls episode, IT’S FUCKING OUTER BANKS NOTHING IS REALISTIC!!

Ask box: JUSTICE FOR LANE KIM, a breakdown.
Anonymous asked: Do you know why Lane disappeared from the show as Rory's best friend over time? She appeared every now and then, yeah, but it has always bothered me that she slowly faded from being Rory's best friend to nobody... am I remembering things wrong?
I do not know! The Palladinos make decisions that sometimes are simply beyond my comprehension.
It’s been awhile since I watched Gilmore Girls in its entirety (and I kind of selectively ignore a lot in the last two, three seasons) but I don’t think you’re remembering things wrong. I will say, though, that the show faced a challenge with all of the Stars Hollow supporting ensemble when Rory went off to college. It’s these kind of problem-making focus shifts that I find really interesting, and they are UBIQUITOUS across teen/high school shows when a character or ensemble graduates.
Most of them that I can think of are done poorly, maybe with the exception of Friday Night Lights. But in defense of these shows, it’s HARD. How do you embrace a fundamental shift in the entire premise of your show? How do you deal with the new geographies of this shift, and the way they ripple into beloved character dynamics? How do you evolve a character through an engaging and meaningful arc without abandoning the foundation on which they were built? And how do you still capture your audience’s attention when there’s a risk that you’re leaving behind the magic that captivated them in the first place? IT’S HARD.
So in the case of Gilmore Girls, Rory at Yale is the shift that moves the show into a new paradigm, and it’s a big one. She’s separated from Stars Hollow and slowly beginning her emancipation from Lorelai, which is, on principle, painful for the audience because it’s directly against the show’s premise. (It’s no coincidence that the Palladinos starts seriously building the Luke-and-Lorelai-of-it-all once Rory’s away at college. Give that empty-nester some new story!)
Of course, Lane is right behind Lorelai in the list of People in Stars Hollow that Rory is Leaving Behind. How is Lane supposed to stay a part of Rory’s story when Rory is in a new context, and Lane is not? But, truth be told, Lane was ALREADY in this role. In seasons 1-3, LANE, not Lorelai, was #1 on the list of People in Stars Hollow that Rory is Leaving Behind. Ultimately Gilmore Girls is a story of two worlds, and Rory going to Chilton begins her passage across the into the New (Old, with Baggage) World. Lane is already being left behind, to some degree, and in seasons 1-3, there’s still room in the show’s universe to address those issues and give Lane some good storylines of her own, especially in conjunction with Rory.
So it’s possible that the issue is not necessarily one of screentime or setting. Whenever I hear the rebel cry of JUSTICE FOR LANE KIM resound in my heart chambers, I mostly think of the kinds of storylines that befell her in the later seasons, not simply in their detachment from Rory. Heeding her mom’s insistence that she attend Seventh Day Adventist college. Fracturing her relationship with her mom in order to pursue her dreams. Getting kicked out of her home. Living with her two boy bandmates who are very stupid and very messy. Never really getting the band off the ground. Her first sexual experience being terrible. Her first sexual experience being terrible AND yielding a pregnancy with TWINS. Why do the Palladinos hate Lane Kim!!! The only thing I wholeheartedly love about Lane’s later storylines is Luke hiring her to work at the diner and then being completely overwhelmed by her sheer competence.
It’s probably important to note that the mere construction of Lane Kim’s character is a bit tragic. The Palladinos are VERY good at building conflict and tension into what seems like simple character descriptions. Here’s this girl that loves rock music to an obsessive, encyclopedic level, wants to play drums in a band, and she’s from a strict religious household where she can’t express any of that. The description itself inherently means that things are going to blow up for Lane at some point. That’s okay, to some degree - that’s conflict, that’s drama, that’s good story.
So if we look at Lane’s arc pre-blow-up, and post-blow-up, the satisfying thing would be for Lane to experience some kind of happiness or success living unstifled in her dreams, to offset the trauma that her family relationships are ruined (at least for the time being). But the Palladinos don’t even do that! It’s encapsulated in the incident that tears apart Lane’s relationship with her mom: she goes to play at CBGB, her mom finds out and kicks her out, and the band doesn’t even get to go on!! The Palladinos love PAIN.
And okay, fine, there’s still some defense that that is well-designed drama and story. (And Lane and her mom do reconcile eventually, and it was at least very affecting, from my memory.) I guess you could argue that Lane IS happy with how things turned out after the lifelong lie she’s lived completely unravels and she’s able to just exist, unguarded. But also... the Palladinos wrote her that way??? And regardless, for me, the issues arise more down the line with Lane essentially staying in Stars Hollow. Wouldn’t unshackling herself from the yoke of her mother mean that she’s free to pursue her dreams? And wouldn’t pursuing her dreams necessitate her to ALSO leave Stars Hollow, like Rory herself? Would she not try to scrape together money to move with the band to New York City and hit the big time? (Bear in mind, I have no idea how the music industry works.)
Ultimately, Lane’s story in the later seasons puts the writers in a Catch-22. If she leaves Stars Hollow and goes somewhere else to pursue her dreams, she’s almost certainly written off the show. She’s a supporting character, and they can’t open up a new world beyond Stars Hollow and New Haven, just for her. On the other hand, if she stays in Stars Hollow, in keeping with the geographies of the universe, she stays on the show, and just... gets really disappointing storylines. I’d be inclined to keep giving Keiko Agena a paycheck.
(Now, the fact that WB threw money at a backdoor pilot for Jess Mariano to go to California and open up a new world for a weakly-premised spin-off, and did no such thing for Lane Kim, is some bullshit. Literally “moving to the big city to live a dream” is SUCH a well-worn trope that all the storylines are essentially handed to them, and it’s almost inherently refreshed because Lane is a Korean-American woman and not a brooding white guy or a quirky white lady. You FOOLS, you could’ve made that show with your EYES CLOSED.)
Anyways.
I’m going to meander my way further off the main point for a moment to kick up some dust on JUSTICE FOR RORY GILMORE as well. When you write ten paragraphs lamenting Lane Kim’s eternal relegation to supporting role, it’s hard not to be cranky about affording world-opening and story-building for a main character instead. (Spin-off Jess very much deserves the crank, though.) But, frankly, the unyielding walls that the Palladinos built to construct their very effective Two-World Universe don’t do a lot of favors for Rory Gilmore either, in the end.
Basically, this construct of Stars Hollow ensemble and New Haven future means that Rory is the only one who will “get out” of Stars Hollow, because she is structurally decreed to do so. It’s the massive conflict that the Palladinos smartly built into their little generational premise: Lorelai fled her parents’ world, and Rory will slowly be lured back into it. Pain ensues. This is good drama. This is good story. This is story that will last seven seasons and six-hour revival.
But it also inadvertently makes Rory the Chosen One, in a story that doesn’t need one. This is not Joseph Campbell’s Hero with a Thousand Faces, and I’d like to believe that even Paris and Rory wouldn’t want it to be, much as they love the Power of Myth. Lorelai divests her entire life into Rory’s success; the town of Stars Hollow wants Rory to spirit out of their small town and Be Great; Rory’s grandparents expect her to follow in Richard’s footsteps and also carry out their orphaned dreams for Lorelai. And then the Palladinos choose little things that further this: Lane doesn’t ever leave Stars Hollow; Paris doesn’t get into Harvard but Rory does; Luke interrogates any boy that comes near Rory because no one is good enough. (I confess, I’m charmed into forgiving the last one.)
It’s much too much to put onto one character and leave unaddressed!!! It’s also why some audience members just really hate Rory, in a really unfortunate knife-twist on an otherwise-winsome main character. They hate the unwillingness of the narrative to acknowledge this very obvious dark and specific underside to Rory’s specialness, and the unwillingness of people within the narrative to name this very obvious dark and specific underside about Rory. But to paraphrase Jessica Rabbit: she’s just DRAWN THAT WAY!
Rory’s storylines never really confront the idea that she has had FAR too many unrealistic expectations put on her by literally everyone that’s ever existed in her life, and what it might mean if she doesn’t live up to them. What does it mean if she’s not Christiane Amanpour? What does it mean if she’s scared of disappointing people? What does it mean if she’s trying to live up to other people’s standards rather than examining what she really wants?
The Palladinos completely ignore this, and simultaneously give Rory multiple meltdowns (cheating with Dean, being cowed by Mitchum Huntzberger, stealing a boat, quitting Yale, an aimless/struggling career) and they never QUITE dig into the complete dark and specific issue at the core of Rory’s character construction... which just exacerbates the Rory hate. Rory has no self-awareness; the writers give her no self-awareness; we go in circles, and every few years there’s a slew of thinkpieces about how selfish and awful Rory is.
What makes it worse is that those questions outlined above are essentially applicable for two other women on the show: Lane Kim, and Lorelai Gilmore II, herself. Lane, like Rory, doesn’t quite bust through and answer them wholly. Lorelai, however, comes into the show having already answered them, years before, when she was a headstrong and tenacious teenager. The idea that neither Rory, her actual daughter, nor Lane, her spiritual inheritor of Parental Disapproval, are ever able to grapple with those concepts in a real way, and blossom into self-defined adulthood the way that Lorelai did is maybe the bottom line on where Gilmore Girls went “wrong.” Lorelai’s legacy is not that she’s hyperverbal, loves junk food, and got pregnant young. It’s that she rejected the expectations of her forebearers and carved out a place in the world for herself by her own definition, for better or for worse. It’s why Lorelai comes out of the narrative like a Super Mom, when in fact she’s still just as deeply flawed as Emily or Rory, and why Stars Hollow is overall magical and cherished despite it serving as a small-town hometown for Rory to leave behind. And it’s why A Year in the Life was SO satisfying for Emily Gilmore, because she proved it’s never too late to answer those questions and break through to the other side. Perhaps we’ll get enough revivals to see the same happen for Rory, and for Lane.
But enough dust about Rory. I think, after all this nitpicking, there were two options for the best way to have handled Lane Kim after Rory went off to college:
1. Give her a backdoor pilot and spinoff to Band Dreams NYC. Which, of course, was not in the Palladinos’ control, so, y’know, fine.
2. Keep Lane in Stars Hollow and give her a chance to answer those questions about self-definition and live out a few years of Lorelai-like hard-but-happy independence (and better sex) before saddling her with Zach and two babies (if you MUST). Bonus points if she moves in with Lorelai and they bond over being fundamentally disappointing to your parents and also missing Rory. A very good obvious choice.
Secret option 3. Just let Lane move to New Haven and live with Rory and Paris off-campus, and give me the goddamn roommate comedy of my dreams. Honestly this is what they should’ve done. Forget everything I said. This is my answer.
Tiny footnote: I cannot BELIEVE, that after twenty years, I am just now realizing how on-the-nose it is that Lorelai escaped from the clutches of New Haven and started a new life for herself at a place called INDEPENDENCE INN. Truly, it was right there in front of me and I didn’t even notice. This oversight might weaken the integrity of the thousand-paragraph essay I rattled off above...
#long post#ask box#JUSTICE FOR LANE KIM#there's also justice for Rory Gilmore in here too#I haven't done this in ages and it's... long.#I am watching approximately zero new television but I'd love to relitigate TV from the early 00s and 10s#Gilmore Girls

❝ being a pilot doesn’t make you cool, but if you’re cool, you’re probably a pilot. ❞
MATILDA LONGBOTTOM really is the spitting image of ODEYA RUSH, right? For someone only 21 years old, TILLIE has been forced to endure so much. Yeah, that UNKNOWN BLOOD STATUS has been scraping by at the sanctuary since SEPTEMBER, 2028, working as a HUNTER in the DIVISION OF FORAGE. SHE is a CIS WOMAN and is known to be TACTLESS and IRASCIBLE but also HUMANE and RESOURCEFUL. Best of luck surviving through this. ⊰ SAM, 24, EST, THEY/THEM ⊱ (Matilda is adopted.)
♡ CHARACTER PARALLELS — Lisa Simpson ( The Simpsons ) + Bart Simpson ( The Simpsons. ) + Steven Hyde ( That 70′s Show ) + Seth Cohen ( The O.C. ) + Jess Mariano ( Gilmore Girls ) + Stitch ( Lilo & Stitch ) + Jessica Jones ( Jessica Jones ) + Janis Ian ( Mean Girls ) + Amy Pond ( Doctor Who ) + Arya Stark ( Game of Thrones )
( lil note: things might be changed regarding tillie’s family backstory and dynamics. )
CHILDHOOD
TWs: Adoption + Birth + Guilt + Parental Death
alright, so. i already wrote this intro, but lost it because i have minus ten brains, and i’m going to be honest with you: it was a pretty good intro, and i’m a bit bummed about losing it, so i can’t promise that this one will be just as good rip.
ADOPTION, BIRTH, PARENTAL DEATH TWS. matilda was the first and only daughter of an american immigrant who got pregnant at the age of nineteen. she died giving birth, never even getting a chance to name the child, and since no one could figure anything out about tillie’s other parent, she was put into the wixen adoption system. she ended up being adopted by the longbottoms when she was 3 months old, and therefore never knew much of anything but the longbottoms when it came to family.
ADOPTION, GUILT TW. the thing is, there has never been a single doubt in tillie’s mind that neville and hannah are her real parents; the ones she loves and who love her. still, she can’t help but wonder sometimes. what if her biological mother had gotten the chance to raise her? did her other parent even knew she existed and decided never to get involved, or were they always completely unaware of her existence? with an overactive imagination like hers, thoughts like that and countless scenarios constantly made their way through tillie’s head, and it made her feel unbelievably guilty. she was a longbottom, through and through. still, there was always this little “what if” at the back of her mind. it didn’t make her love her parents and siblings any less, of course, but she felt guilt for even just wondering. those are feelings she’s never talked about to anyone, though. i’m not even sure she fully realizes how present they are within herself. (this is heavily inspired by someone i know, and makes me feel very emotional, so i might not write it out all that much in paras and what not, but i thought it was important to include it in her intro, as it does matter and is part of her character development!)
she wasn’t a quiet baby, and definitely didn’t turn into a quiet child. matilda was always loud, and always aching to be heard and listened to. she was babbling from a very young age, and started talking before the age of one. she wasn’t reciting proust by heart, of course, but she talked the way some two year olds did before the age of one. she just!!!!! ached to communicate so damn much, and got very frustrated when she didn’t know the right word to express herself, and since she was quick to anger, being misunderstood by people led to a lot of tantrums. all in all, she wasn’t an easy child, especially not as a toddler.
still, she was a charming and bold kid, and tended to attract positive attention. really, it was mostly around her parents and/or whoever was taking care of her at the moment that she could be a bit... difficult. she loved putting on little shows (though it was a GREAT idea not to call them “little” in front of her), and always tried to drag her friends and siblings into doing various performances with her, such as dancing, acting, singing, etc. she always made a bit production of it, too, and would ask any and every stranger that she would come upon in whatever environment she was in to come watch her shows.
matilda adored making up stories!!!! she loved reading, and loved inventing stories and games based off what she read, but even before she could read, she was making up stories and like!!!!! she had a very vivid imagination and would tell stories to any and everybody who would listen to her. she was such a good storyteller (for someone her age), that, um, at one point, she realized she could also lie pretty damn well. she started lying left and right, just for the hell of it, and that might have been the thing that got her into the most trouble with people, especially her parents. she still has difficulties not lying nowadays. she just......... loves making stuff up? she tries very hard not to, but it seems to be an urge that’s too strong to constantly resist.
she had a lot of energy, and sometimes when she didn’t get to let it out, she got moody and angry and not as fun as usual to be around. to counter that, her parents signed her up to muggle kickboxing classes, after a few failed attempts at team sports. tillie was a bit of a bossy kid, and she didn’t do well at team sports back when she was younger. luckily enough, she excelled at kickboxing, and absolutely adored it. later on, she even dabbled in some muggle martial arts, and though she never used her training in a real life situation (not until the inferi, at least), she loved knowing she had the ability to defend herself and/or other people.
her relationship with her parents wasn’t always easy in her childhood (and her teenage years either, but we’ll get to that later), but she never doubted how much she loved them and how much they loved her. of course, that can be changed depending on the people who play neville and hannah, but yes! with her siblings, i feel like the relationship might have been a bit smoother? or at least, i definitely think that for younger siblings. older siblings, i don’t know. we’d have to plot it out, but............... tillie automatically goes angry emoji face at any semblance of authority so just someone two years older than her being “in charge” when she’s 10 and both her parents go out would make her the fight me emoji just out of principle eogiergjeirjgeoirjierjg. but like!!!!! my point is!!!!! tillie loves her family so damn much!!!!! would destroy the whole wide world for them, and like????? tillie loves the world!!!!! she’s quite disappointed in it, but she wants it to do better!!!!! and for them????? she’d destroy it!!!!!!!!
HOGWARTS YEARS
ok, but.......... i’d love for tillie to have made like....... a nemesis tm on her first hogwarts express ride to hogwarts. we could even make it into a REALLY slow burn enemies to lovers like?????? them always being nemesis and now being stuck in the same place in such a complicated situation??????? amazing!!!!!! i’d love if they were tillie’s opposite, too, but this isn’t my wanted connections page (which is linked below) so egoiergoiejrgijer. i’ll refrain from babbling on and on about it.
matilda longbottom being sorted into gryffindor was a surprise to like, absolutely no one who knew her. she was loud, brash, brave, courageous, etc. and it was like....... expected for her to end up there. thing is, personally, i think she had qualities of all the houses? imaginative & creative for ravenclaw, ambitious & driven for slytherin, and loyal & all for justice and what not for hufflepuff.
tillie was always one to cheer for the underdog, and so i bet that she first made friends with all the kids who seemed to have difficulty fitting in before she made friends with the rest tm. honestly, i’m picturing her having been pretty popular during her time at hogwarts? not in a “mean girls” way, but rather in the fact that a lot of people just...... liked her. of course, she had (and still has) pretty strong opinions and is not easily swayed in her convictions, so the people who disagreed with her might not have liked her all that much, but still. eoijgeriojgeiorjgeiorjgoierjg and like ofc other people disliked her too like she has a pretty strong personality so i think!!!!!! it’s like hate or love; there’s very little in the middle. which i think still fits within the popular thing, because, really, most people would at least have an opinion about her.
stood up to bullies a bit too intensely, and probably got in trouble for it. she didn’t give a sh*t about the fact that her dad was a teacher and she’d get in trouble at home as well as in school; she had no patience for people who picked on others, especially not people who had it more difficult than others. she saw things in black and white, and didn’t really get the whole “the bully might have had a super hard life too” side of things. if you did something bad, and didn’t apologize, then you were a bad person, and that was it. she’s a bit less, um, intense about her way of thinking nowadays, but not by that much ergoierjoigjeroigjerojger.
does not forgive easily, and never has. like, she saw someone steal a candy bar from another kid in her first year, and she still hasn’t forgiven them. she “hates” them and it’s eorigjeirojgoeirgjeoirgjer. she needs to relax a bit. which is funny, becausse generally she’s really chill, but there are some things that get her blood BOILING.
she couldn’t exactly do kickboxing at hogwarts, and so she became a reserve beater in her second year, before becoming a complete (tm) beater in her fourth year. she stopped after sixth year, though, and in her seventh year, she began a secret, not-so-sanctioned-by-hogwarts, Muggle Martial Arts & Other Fighting Techniques Club for people who wanted to either practice it, like her, or simply wanted to learn. would it have been sanctioned if she had asked? maybe. but she loved feeling like a rebel egoieroigjerjgoer.
probably came out as a lesbian in her fourth year. tillie liked girls, and she didn’t want to hide it. she’s always acted like she’s super confident, though, but in fact she’s kind of insecure when it comes to relationships? she’s scared of not being enough, and has always been. it’s eorgjeriojgeoijgerijo sad.
AFTER HOGWARTS
tillie had zero clues whatsoever about what she wanted to do after hogwarts. she hadn’t chosen her n.e.w.t. classes with any specific career in mind, and she kind of panicked the summer after her seventh year, clueless about what she was supposed to do. then, she decided to work for a year, and then travel for the next. she knew it wasn’t the most “valid” choice, long-term-wise, but it was what she wanted to do, and so she did it.
she worked for a year at flourish & blotts, which was quite challenging for someone who preferred debating and helping others to selling books, but she was somewhat of an avid reader, after all, and so she did enjoy the discounts and discussions that inevitably occured about books.
and then, she went on to travel. she decided that, having explored a bit of europe with friends and family in the past, she’d go to another continent. and, very maturely, she decided to choose by closing her eyes, spinning a globe around, and stopping it at random with her finger. that method led to her deciding to visit north america, central america & south america. she started in canada, and finished in brazil. on her way, she visited all the countries on the continent, though, of course, she stayed in some for longer than in others. her favourites were mbolivia, argentina & belize. she did also enjoy a couple of cities in canada and the usa as well, but those were more reminiscent of home, and didn’t make as much of an impact on her.
she, uh, sucked at keeping in touch with people back home when she was travelling, so that could definitely be a starting or middle point for a plot? i think she may have taken the time to stay in touch with people if she knew things were more difficult for them, but otherwise, she kind of didn’t feel the need to contact people every day or so. and whilst that worked for her, whether that worked or not with your chara(s), if they were the kind who’d have stayed in touch with her, is completely up to you.
she came back and was like!!!!!! this is boring!!!!!! she started working part-time as a clerk at the ministry of magic, and was like :( because she missed travelling and meeting new people and just!!!!! she felt like something was missing. finally, someone told her of a non-profit organization that helped wixen refugeess that had escaped muggle and wixen wars in other countries, and she was like :o and decided to try and help out! she became a part-time volunteer with them, and adored it. she didn’t know if she’d spend her life doing what she was doing, doing two part-time things, but at the moment, it worked for her.
INFERI CRISIS
the reason why she only arrived at hogwarts in september, and towards the end of september at that? she was trying to save as many people as possible. tillie cannot stand seeing people suffer, and when she becomes passionate about something, it’s the one thing she thinks about, and well...... she got REALLY passionate about saving people.
i don’t think she’s fully processed what is happening yet, to be honest. like, she gets it; she’s not unaware, but........ in a way, it still feels fake, somehow. i think it’s because she’s been on a huge adreline rush since it first started, and because she’s been focusing on others rather than herself. everything’s been happening so fast that the facts just...... haven’t had time to settle into her mind.
she decided to finally go to hogwarts because she missed the members of her family who she knew were most likely there, and she wanted to make sure they were okay. and after getting there, it felt like leaving just wasn’t an option. not when there were so many people she could help in one single place.
she decided to be a hunter because, whilst it’s not her absolute favourite thing to do in the whole wide world, she’s good at it and it doesn’t bother her to do it when necessary. thing is, she knows it’d be way harder for some other people to do it, and so she does it so that they don’t have to. she really, really respects animals and creatures, though, and so i get like? lowkey artemis vibes from this side of her?
FUN FACTS
lesbian!!!!!!!!!!!!
loves social justice!!!!!!!! like anyone who doesn’t care about it automatically goes in her “ew” list bc!!!!!! it’s so damn important!!!!!!! probably a big fan of the concept of socialism, really.
loves aliens so damn much and is FASCINATED with all things related to them!!!!! she thinks it’s downright SILLY not to believe that aliens exist, and her biggest dream in life is literally to meet an alien. takes ufos very seriously.
loves muggle comics, artsy french movies & junk food. also! art! she loves art so much?????? wishes she knew more about it, though, because she feels quite , well, not exactly knowledgeable when it comes to art, and tillie hates feeling like she doesn’t know enough.
was actually good at history of magic bc she tried seeing it through more social justice lenses and it was like, eye-openning to her!!!!!!!

Pick 5 shows, then answer the following questions, don’t cheat. Tag 10 (or however many) people.
1. Veronica Mars
2. Deadwood
3. Gilmore Girls
4. Parks and Recreation
5. The X-Files
1. Who is your favourite character in 2?
Calamity Jane. She’s a walking disaster and I love her.
2. Who is your least favourite character in 1?
Duncan Kane. What a dud.
3. What is your favourite episode of 4?
This is a hard one. I love so many, but I’ll pick “Harvest Festival” because it’s a perfect episode and Li’l Sebastian forever.
4. What is your favourite season of 5?
Ooh, this is really difficult. I have a such a soft spot for so many episodes from the early seasons. I’ll (cheat and) pick any of the first four seasons because they feel the most X-Files to me.
5. Who is your favourite couple in 3?
Luke and Lorelai, of course.
6. Who is your favourite couple in 2?
Calamity Jane and Joanie. Love them.
7. What is your favourite episode of 1?
The first two seasons are pretty flawless, but I’ll pick the pilot because it does an excellent job setting up the series and it’s one of my favorite pilots ever.
8. What is your favourite episode of 5?
This is IMPOSSIBLE to answer. I couldn’t pick a season, how can I pick an episode?? I CANNOT.
9. What is your favourite season of 2?
Season 2, but they’re all wonderful.
10. How long have you watched 1?
I started watching Veronica Mars after the second season aired. I caught up on DVD and was so excited to be able to watch the third season live. The dip in quality felt especially disappointing.
11. How did you become interested in 3?
Randomly watching reruns on ABC Family a million years ago and then watching the last three (?) seasons as they aired.
12. Who is your favourite actor in 4?
Amy Poehler. Leslie Knope is an iconic character and I can’t picture anyone else playing her. But also, every recurring side character was brilliant.
13. Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?
They’re all such different moods! I can’t pick! Don’t make me!
14. Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3 ?
I’ve seen all of both, but probably watched more episodes of Gilmore Girls more than once.
15. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
For the utter ridiculousness and the most opposite choice, I’ll pick Jean-Ralphio.
16. Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?
Definitely. Lorelai would drive Ron crazy and Rory would look up to Leslie.
17. Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple?
Meg and Mac.
18. Overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5?
Well, they both had some majorly botched later seasons, but I’ll say Gilmore Girls. The mythology stuff in The X-Files just got too out of hand and silly after a while.
19. Which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?
Parks and Rec definitely.
I tag: @socks-lost, @sideadde, @heartsways, @authorette44, and @thegirl20.

spn rewatch | the woman in white (pilot)
Okay so I can safely say I’ve seen the pilot episode at least half a dozen times, if not more. I got season one on DVD for my 14th birthday (which I 100% binged with my BFF at the time to the point where we were beyond exhausted for my actual birthday festivities the next day) and would watch over and over in the days before Netflix. So for me the first couple of seasons are way more familiar to me than the later seasons. Especially since at some point after I started college when I didn’t have as easy access to television and streaming services weren’t quite what they are today I fell off the bandwagon. Pretty much everything I know about the show from mid-season eight onwards comes from gif sets on Tumblr and the occasional Facebook posts. Which brings me to this rewatch/first time viewing.
It’s easily been at least three or four years since I’ve watched the pilot but it’s still so familiar to me which I feel like says a lot for the show. Or just says that I was way too obsessed with this show as a teenager. But anyway, here we go.
First of all, I don’t know about anyone else but I’m honestly a little weirded out by seeing JDM looking younger and not having a beard. Like it’s strange to me and I don’t know how to feel about it and I’m glad this is the only scene where he looks like this. The beard does him wonders in all walks of life and I’m glad it’s a look he’s stuck with in just about everything he’s in these days. (Also you can totally see one of JDM’s tattoos under the sleeve of his t-shirt and it just makes me want to headcanon John with a couple tattoos from his time in the service despite looking so clean cut when they have the flashbacks with Matt Cohen.)
Secondly, I want to know when they came up with the backstory that Mary was a hunter and came from a family of hunters and that she’d been in that life before she settled down with John. Because I feel like if that backstory had been mapped out before the pilot her reactions when she woke up to the baby monitor would be more suspicious. But that could also be me just being too picky. Like it’s totally valid that Mary, just waking up didn’t pick up on the static or the flickering lights. I just want to know if they’d had her history in mind when this started or if that came up later once they’d developed the story and characters more.
Okay, so I don’t have any major attachments to Jess, mainly because we just don’t spend enough time with her. She’s got a whole three (?) scenes where she’s mostly delegated to the supportive girlfriend who’s also over-sexualized. Like they seriously chose to introduce a female character and have all of her outfits be revealing to the point where other characters are commenting on it before killing her. Like I have no issues with female characters wearing whatever the fuck they want, there’s nothing wrong with that. But it wasn’t given any more depth than “here’s this sexual object for our audience to look at” and that’s what bugs me. But I am glad that they showed her being genuinely concerned when Sam is packing like wanting to make sure he’s okay and make sure he’s not doing something reckless for people who’ve actively avoided being in his life over the last few years. She’s incredibly supportive of Sam and it makes me happy that he had that in his life even if I do hate that it was taken away in a horribly gruesome way.
Adrianne Palicki is just ridiculously talented and deserves way more recognition than she’s gotten over the years.
Now, I’m gonna be real. I was a Dean girl from the get go. I loved me a smartass bad boy when I was thirteen and I was head over heels for Jensen Ackles from the first time I saw this show (probably because I’d never seen him anything else before but I already knew Jared as Dean from Gilmore Girls who wasn’t my favorite as a middle schooler). It also probably doesn’t hurt that I saw an episode of season two as my first intro to the show instead of the pilot. Because honestly, watching his first scene as a 26 year old, he doesn’t come off in the best light. Between breaking into Sam’s apartment, their whole tussle in the dark living room, and then him hitting on Jess right in front of Sam, he’s kind of an ass. Which yes, Dean is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. All of these characters are fucked up, especially after fourteen seasons and counting. But this just doesn’t line up with how Dean is in the rest of season one even, I feel like.
Like Dean telling Jess that she’s way out of Sam’s league is one thing. I expect nothing less from him. But then him just being creepy and ogling her is just uncomfortable to watch now.
Also the lighting budget for the entire first season is just horrendous. It’s like they wanted to show that they were scary and edgy but really it just meant I couldn’t make out what was happening in any scene that didn’t take place in broad daylight.
Okay, on to the spooks. Having a woman in white for the first MOTW (monster of the week) was kind of cool to me because it was something I actually knew about before the show, thanks to reading any and every book on ghosts my school library had to offer. And Sarah Shahi is super gorgeous. Like hot damn. And as cheesy as some of the effects are in the earlier episodes, I actually like the way that she kind of flickers in and out along the side of the road as Troy’s driving up and then the way you don’t actually see her in the passenger seat when it shows her getting in. None of the effects are too crazy over the top (at least not until the very end of the episode when she finally goes home and has that weird as fuck death scene with her creepy kids) and it works.
As a thirteen year old, I thought it was totally believable that Sam and Dean could be US marshals and the local cops were just being jerks. As a twenty-six year old, the idea that those two could pass as any kind of law enforcement other than like maybe a couple of rookie cops is ridiculous. I’m the same age that Dean was at the start of the show and I’ve got people assuming I’m still in high school. I couldn’t get past the crime scene tape for anything. But I guess if you’re confident enough and tall enough, anything’s possible. Also as if they didn’t already look hella conspicuous, they act like a couple of five year olds with all their stomping and smacking, like no wonder the cops were suspicious.
Also can we take a moment to appreciate the awesome mid-2000s goth look Amy and her friend are rocking? Because it’s fantastic and I’m here for it. Also kudos to them for being the only women to make it to the end of the episode alive.
I never really thought about it when I was younger but it’s not surprising that Sam isn’t as gung ho about hunting down the demon that killed Mary like John and Dean are. His memories of Mary are entirely built on stories and pictures and not from anything he actually remembers himself. And like it’s totally valid for him to want to get away from the hunter lifestyle and follow a different path instead of just killing monsters and running credit card scams for the rest of his life.
All I can think about when they break into the room John was renting is that gif of Charlie from Always Sunny with all the papers and strings on the walls.
One of the better aspects of Supernatural, in my opinion, are the actors they get to randomly guest star on the show. And not necessarily big names (although those can be fun) but like the ones that you’ve never seen anywhere else. Because the guy who plays Joseph Welch is fantastic in his one scene on screen. There’s so much emotion there as he’s talking about a clearly sensitive subject and being able to show the grief and also some of the guilt over being unfaithful. It’s a fantastic scene so like major shoutout to Steve Railsback for being awesome.
The whole showdown with Constance’s ghost is kind of like mediocre compared to future fights. Like it’s a pretty quick scene and the effects once they actually get her to the house to face her creepy children are kind of the worst. Like they used their whole special effects budget doing that flickering thing in her first scene and had to settle for this instead. Also like yes they stopped her and she won’t be able to kidnap and kill skeezy men in the future but like I feel kind of bad for Amy and Troy’s family because they’re just left with zero closure whatsoever. Like I never thought about it but there are a lot of people over the years where it’s like yes we stopped the monster but those families never actually know what happened to their loved ones.
Okay, I get that it’s supposed to be a serious, intense scene, and the first time I saw it - yes it was shocking and heartbreaking and terrifying but the effects for Jess’s appearance on the ceiling are just bad. She doesn’t look like a person, she looks like a mannequin. And I’m still annoyed that they brought her in and showed how much her and Sam loved and cared for each other only to kill her horribly at the end of the episode. It’s just frustrating. And honestly this should’ve warned all of us that pretty much no female character is safe on this show. None of them.
The “we’ve got work to do” at the end is still hella iconic. Like there’s a couple of lines that still give me that little excitement I got when I first watched it and that’s one of them. I love it.
BODY COUNT: 3 humans (Mary Winchester, Troy Squire, Jessica Moore), 1 ghost (Constance Welch - do her kids count too? They didn’t really show up until was time for Constance to like melt into the floor all creepy like)
RATING: 7/10 - the effects are kind of garbage and there’s some stuff that hasn’t aged well but I still think this is one of the better pilots I’ve seen as far as getting you hooked into the story and characters.

Supernatural questions
SPN Questions Game!
I was tagged by @lovedsammy
Thank you! I appreciate it. Sorry this took so long. It was fun answering the questions though. :-)
1. When did you start watching Supernatural? The night the show first premiered on Sept. 13, 2005 (according to Google). I knew Jensen and Jared from other shows (more recently at that time, Jensen's recurring role on Smallville and then Jared on Gilmore Girls) and was curious. Sci-fi/fantasy is a fav genre for me, so Supernatural seemed right up my alley (the horror/gory aspects sometimes was a little much for me, but the character dynamics keep me watching). I watched the show regularly for the first five seasons. What got me to fall in love with the show was a small scene in the first episode. (rest under the cut)
That was when Dean answers Sam's belief about Dean doing this alone [find their Dad] with a "Yeah, well, I don't want to." The way this line was delivered by Jensen... it just showed a vulnerability in Dean. It showed what sort of character Dean was -- that he needed, wanted his brother by his side. That moment left me wanting to learn more about Sam and Dean, and I cared about their journey in each episode. After the Season 5 finale, I stopped watching the show regularly. I watched the first few eps of Season 6 I believe, but they failed to hold my interest. Not enough Cas I guess (I loved him in Seasons 4 and 5 and his character development in those two seasons). I randomly watched a few Season 7 episodes when they aired (the one with Charisma Carpenter & James Marsters (7x05) and the Eliot Ness episode (7x12)). I was wondering where Cas was at as I didn't really know then what had happened to him. Finally, about five years later, when Season 13 was airing, I fell back into watching the show. I saw War of the Worlds 13x07 live without much of an idea of what had gone on in the show in the last few years. So I had no idea that Sam and Dean now called this bunker their home. It was certainly an experience watching that episode being pretty confused about things. The mid-season finale/"The Bad Place" really peaked my interest that I should catch up with this show again. Jack got me curious. I ended up watching the Season 13 finale live.
Over the summer, I binge-watched the seasons I missed post-Season 5. I watched the episodes I missed in Season 13 first. Then I went through Seasons 6, 9, 10 and 11 (still working on Season 12- finished through 12x08). With Seasons 7 & 8, I mainly watched the episodes where Cas appeared (with S7, that made the season go fast for me since he was only in five episodes... I did see 7x03 though because of Colin Ford. He is my favorite version of "young Sam"... and catching up with the show, it was a nice surprise that he returned in Season 7). I am planning to see those S7 & 8 episodes I skipped over-- feel kind of bad for not watching those seasons completely.
2. Who is your favorite in TFW? Castiel -- I looked forward to his scenes back in Seasons 4 and 5. His journey since then has been interesting to watch. While his development in Season 6 was hard to see unfold, I see it as the unfortunate fallout from averting the apocalypse. It was a win that TFW stopped the apocalypse particularly through Sam's sacrifice. But sadly, Cas's desire to prevent Apocalypse Take 2 from happening caused him to go to dark places -- leaving TFW fractured. I think his experience as a human was one of the best things that happened to him-- it really helped him be more compassionate and understanding-- or just really bring out what Cas already had inside him. I still prefer him to be an angel though (I have a weakness for "superpowers"...like the glowy eyes/healing...). But I appreciate that Cas did experience being human and learned something valuable from that.
3. Who is your least favorite in TFW? Dean, although it's hard to choose a least favorite. Each one has their good and bad traits. Dean's harsh treatment of Jack in Season 13 is not something I can brush aside completely. So that's why Dean comes to mind. Dean has gotten better with Jack, true, but his early S13 handling of Jack while Sam pleaded with Dean to give Jack a chance is still hard to forget.
4. Tag your top 5 Supernatural blogs. (I think most everyone has done these questions, so below are just the Supernatural blogs I like checking out) Let’s see… I tag: @hallowedbecastiel, @lovedsammy @flightoftheseraph, @soluscheese, @castielisourhero, @sastiel-daily, @canonspngifs
5. Who is your favorite character (not including TFW)? Bobby Singer, although I guess he can be considered an honorary member of TFW. I have not seen the episode where he dies (7x10), but I plan to and I know it'll leave me teary-eyed I'm sure. But seeing the episodes where he returns in some capacity (10x17 "Inside Man" -- so much love for that episode, and 11x16 "Safe House") got me really emotional. That letter to Sam in 10x17, and Dean figuring he and Bobby were there at the same time in that house thanks to some time-wimey explanation... it just made me wish Bobby was still alive. He was really like a father to Sam and Dean and it'll certainly be hard to watch those early seasons with Bobby -- knowing now that he's gone. At least he's in Heaven. I want to add Jack too-- even if he is a part of TFW, but technically it's TFW 2.0 for him, so he does sort of count I guess (I'm reaching here, I know, but couldn't resist). Mostly because his character got me curious and led me to watching all of Season 13 and motivating me to finally catch up with the seasons I've missed of the show. Seeing all the crap that Sam had been through with Lucifer post-Season 5 made his willingness to help Jack, Lucifer's son, all the more compelling.
6. Who is your favorite woman in Supernatural? As far as a female character who's currently still alive, Rowena is pretty awesome -- some of her outfits have been gorgeous. And there's the 13x19 scene on the phone where she flirts with Cas --"oh is the handsome angel there with you? Hello, Tweetie Pie." was amusing in how it left Cas a little flustered and off-footed in his response. Considering back at the end of Season 10, Rowena cursed him with that "attack dog" spell causing Cas some considerable misery... it's just so like the show for the pair of them to be sort of chill with one another now. Cas still doesn't quite know how to take flirtations-- it's endearing. Also, due to my summer rewatch, I really enjoyed Meg 2.0's character. I loved her dynamic with Cas and was sad when she died. I love that she saw Cas as "her unicorn." Rachel Miner did a great job with the character of Meg. I'll never forget that moment in 6x10 when Meg made out with Cas.
7. John or Mary? Mary (I haven't seen all of Season 12 and did hear her storyline had its issues, but from what I know about her, I prefer her to John). Watching the 300th episode caused me to warm up to John again. I'm glad Sam and Dean got some closure with him. I think I blame the background music sometimes used during the John moments... it got me all nostalgic and emotional. I enjoyed Mary in Season 13 and being protective of Jack -- to where she decided to stay with him even if it meant needing to leave the camp because AU! Bobby was suspicious of Jack's half-angel status. So I'll stick with Mary on this one.
8. What were your first opinions of Sam, Dean, Cas, and Jack? Sam: I thought he was a compelling character. He was like the "regular guy" character at the beginning helping to introduce the audience into the strange world of hunting the supernatural his family was a part of. I took a television course back in college, so this kind of stuff was discussed, bear with me. lol ... as the show went on, it was ironic that he was the one with psychic powers, the demon blood and was the "true vessel" for Lucifer. After playing catch up with the show post-Season 5, I feel so bad for the crap Sam has gone through particularly with Lucifer. It has been a long time for me, so I can't exactly remember my first impression of Sam. After seeing Jared on Gilmore Girls, I think I just automatically decided to find any character he played likable since I generally liked his character on Gilmore Girls. It was sad how badly Sam wanted to live a normal/safe life with Jess in the pilot but that wasn't in the cards for him.
Dean: I found his "devil may care" attitude kind of cool, but as brought up earlier, I liked that he cares about family. That he came to get Sam because he needed him by his side to search for their Dad. Even despite the big fight that was close to John disowning Sam, Dean wanted to make the effort to mend bridges. Dean took the chance that Sam would still care about their Dad's well-being despite the big fight. Or maybe Dean knew that deep down, Sam would agree to help -- as after all, Dean practically raised him so he obviously knew Sam pretty well (even if he didn't quite understand Sam's strong desire to head to university and try for an "normal apple pie life.")
Cas: He was a big part why I was excited for Seasons 4 and 5 when they were airing. Although in retrospect, he didn't really have a lot of scenes in S4 &5. I just ended up being grateful for what we did get back then. I liked how though seemed alien in his first appearance and interaction with Dean, there were hints that Cas did care and wasn't a cold, unfeeling angel. Like I couldn't quite hate him completely for burning out Pamela's eyes even though I wanted to initially. Cas just seemed a little regretful about that, so I could see sparks of opportunity for character growth. I need to rewatch the scene again, but I vaguely recall Cas looked sad/regretful about Pamela's fate. And when he told Dean, "You don't think you deserve to be saved,"-- the way the line was delivered got me even more curious about Cas. Then his end of episode appearance in 4x02 freaked me out a bit because he was intense there. But honestly, during most of that 4x02 scene, I was bothered by his lips being dry/cracked... why I still remember this after all these years, IDEK. Still wish someone had given him some chapstick or something then. lol
Jack: The first episode I saw him in was the mid-season 13 finale. I was interested in Jack and learning more about him... I'm sure it would have been better if I'd seen those earlier Season 13 episodes to understand Jack better. I really enjoyed how everything went down in 13x09 and how climactic it ended up being. The last shot of Jack in "Apocalypse World" with him looking up at Mary in a cage was a well-done shot. After seeing 13x01, I liked Jack's curiosity about the world and his love of nougat. He seemed like a sweet and caring person and eager to please.
9. What’s your favorite season? Season 1. It was when I first started watching and was just a pretty solid season overall. The cliffhanger was evil, but hell, that really got me on the board to continue with this show. Plus, the memorable lines --"driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole", "hope your apple pie was freakin' worth it!" and I loved the moment of Dean bringing peanut M&Ms as one of his provisions in 1x02 "Wendigo" (and they did prove useful in the end in tracking him down). It's tempting to say a season with Cas too because I like his character. With Cas, probably Season 10 since I enjoyed his interactions with Claire. Also, I love 10x17 so much (just made me miss Bobby and that end montage is an automatic rewatch for me). Although Season 4 was good too with Castiel's introduction. I like how his character developed to the point where he was prepared to fight off archangels to stop the apocalypse. Even if this defied the other angels wanting the apocalypse to come to fruition. Honorary mention to Season 13 mostly for the journey of Sam and Jack's father-son bond. I always love seeing tributes to that bond and the support Jack received from Sam.
10. What’s your least favorite season? Season 7, but then again I haven't seen the entire season yet. From what I saw of the Leviathans, I didn't like them as villains. But Leviathan!Cas was pretty awesome-- he definitely freaked me out for the brief time the Leviathan took him over. Just a shame that the Leviathan after that were just kind of meh... For a season I saw entirely, I'd have to say Season 6. Though Castiel had some great moments in this season (6x20 of course being a highlight), it hurt to see Cas turn against Sam and Dean. Yes, Cas was doing all that to stop Apocalypse 2.0, but I hated that he resorted to breaking Sam's wall (leaving Sam a mess into Season 7). Also, the first half of the season with soulless!Sam was weird to watch... since Sam wasn't himself and knowing that was sad. I enjoyed the episode 6x11 where Dean made a deal with Death to get Sam's soul out of the cage. So yeah, I liked some parts of Season 6, but overall, it's not easy to rewatch knowing this is the unfortunate fallout of averting the apocalypse in Season 5. Back in the day-- for just Seasons 1 through 5, I'd say Season 3...the season had its moments, but it just ranked lowest for me in terms of the first five seasons. Although S3 gets points for one cliffhanger of an ending.
11. Opinions on Destiel? I used to be big on Destiel, or just Dean and Cas's friendship/strong bond in Seasons 4 and 5. Maybe my enthusiasm for them just faded away over time... after catching up with the show recently, my perspective has changed. I can't completely get over Dean's treatment of Cas at the end of Season 7 after he'd taken on Sam's hell trauma leaving him broken and not mentally stable. Dean yelling at Cas more than once was frustrating to see during this time. I just can't get into Dean x Cas as much as before... though Cas sticking around and still being Dean's friend, helping him and Sam out, does speak a lot to Cas's ability to forgive... not to stay angry with Dean after some of the things Dean has said to him and put him through (such as kicking him out of the bunker in 9x03 without any offer of assistance so Cas wouldn't continue to be homeless... I can understand why a lot of people didn't like 9x03).
12. Do you believe Supernatural queerbaits? No. t's nice that Dean can have a solid, meaningful friendship with someone who isn't Sam... so it's good that he has Castiel. But the moments where it seems like it's leading to something more than friendship for Destiel... I think it just shows the strength of their friendship.
13. Seasons 1-7 or 8-14? Seasons 8-14 -- mostly because I liked Cas's character development in the later seasons. That he's more compassionate, maybe more human -- his short time as a human influencing him in a good way for the most part. Even if his angelic powers were diminished in the later seasons.
I miss his teleporting (I had grown used to the "rustle of wings" sound effect in Seasons 4 and 5), and to learn he'd lost that ability for a few years already by the time of Season 13 -- that was sad to know. Despite that loss, I like that Cas has become more expressive -- like in the 14x12 scene where he's discussing "Rowena's remarkable command of profanity" on the phone to Sam -- The line delivery and his facial expression was on point there.
14. Favorite villain (plot wise)? Crowley. He had some great moments on the show, and it was great to see his journey on the show. From full-on antagonist to sort of being on Team Winchester. I don't like that he killed Meg 2.0 (I miss her :(), but he was a compelling character and it's sad that he's not on the show anymore.
15. Do you think they should end the Lucifer plot line? Yes!
16. Who do you think has gone through more trauma (Sam, Dean, or Cas) Sam. They all have gone through their share of trauma, so it's not easy to just choose one. But Sam has been tortured by Lucifer himself, and still suffers PTSD from that every time he has to deal with Lucifer.
17. What’s your favorite Supernatural episode? 1x12 - "Faith" -- I have a fondness for some Season 1 episodes. Asylum was another fav for me along with Home and Something Wicked. At the time that “Faith” aired, I was big on hurt!Dean, and this episode delivered. I loved how determined Sam was to save his brother. This was still back when some great classic rock songs were used. The "Don't Fear the Reaper" song playing while Sam and Dean carried out their plan to stop the reaper was pretty epic. And looking back, boy, do I miss those days when iconic songs like that were used on the show. 18. Do you like case episodes? Yes -- I like seeing how the mystery unravels, and finding out who the culprit is in the end.
19. Who do you relate most to in TFW? Sam. Mostly due to his love/appreciation of research. I like to research too and learn new things. Also, he's the younger sibling, which is the same for me. I can relate to his frustration with his dad -- though it was for different reasons, I've felt similarly-- just different personalities and perspectives clashing, I would say.
20. Why do you like Supernatural? I like Supernatural because of the brotherly bond between Sam and Dean. Sam and Dean was what first drew me to the show and I still enjoy seeing the twists and turns they go through -- and I appreciate the moments that strengthen their bond and get emotional and heartbroken when they're divided. At the end of the day, I feel Sam and Dean are the heart and the soul of the show -- my hope for the end of the series is that the brothers' bond is as strong as ever. I would be so sad if they end the show with Sam and Dean at odds with each other-- I have faith the writers wouldn't do this -- it would be hard to watch (like back in 4x21 where they fight each other and go their separate ways... it was painfully heartbreaking to see). Also, I love Team Free Will -- it's nice that Sam and Dean have Cas now as a long-time friend and confidante. I like Jack and the more recent Team Free Will 2.0 that formed to include him. Though the original Team Free Will is more iconic, I guess, for me since it formed as the apocalypse approached in Season 5. And the name really had a meaning: that Sam, Dean and Cas weren't going to fold and follow what the higher up angels wanted... that their free will mattered more than following their long foretold destinies.
21. If you could bring back one character and kill off another who would they be? I'm torn between bringing Bobby back or Meg 2.0. I'd kill off Lucifer (if he is really woken up in the Empty -- he needs to be put down again. :\). I'd like Kevin Tran to come back. I would be okay with killing off AU! Bobby if we can get the old Bobby back. And Meg 2.0 being brought back would be great-- I miss her interactions with Cas.

In the pilot of Gilmore Girls, Rory Gilmore is a sweet teenage girl who dreams of getting into Harvard. She's leaving her small-town high school behind when she meets new kid Dean Forester. Suddenly, she wonders if she should go to Chilton after all, which starts a big fight between her and her cool mom Lorelai.
RELATED: Gilmore Girls: 10 Ways Jess Got Better & Better
Gilmore Girls deals with teenage life well and part of that includes Rory and Dean's relationship. From their meeting to the early days of their romance, along with their two break-ups and reunions later on in their lives, this love story is an important part of the show.
7 Season 1: The Meet-Cute, Sweet Romance, And First Break-Up
Rory and Dean meet each other in the show's first episode and they have a truly adorable scene. Rory makes a joke about Rosemary's Baby and is shocked and thrilled when Dean understands it.
After kissing at Doose's Market, which is awkward but cute, and Lorelai inviting Dean over for a movie night, Rory and Dean enter an official relationship. He's a sweet partner, making her a bracelet and always making time for her, and things seem to be going well... until he says he loves her on their three-month anniversary and she can't say it back. Suddenly Rory is single again and learning to wallow from her mom, who swears that junk food and pop culture will help her grieve the loss of Dean. But the two lovebirds make their way back to each other in a sweet scene at Chilton.
6 Season 2: Jess Makes Waves In Rory And Dean's Seemingly Perfect Love Story
In season 2 of Gilmore Girls, there are some problems in Dean and Rory's relationship, as he thinks she cares too much about Chilton and getting into Harvard. He complains about not getting enough time with her, which creates even more stress in her life.
RELATED: Gilmore Girls: 10 Things The Show Got Right About College
Rory thinks their relationship is flawless, though, at least until Jess moves to town and she starts to like him, too. Jess creates major waves for Dean and Rory, flirting with Rory every chance he gets. Fans can tell that this won't end well for Dean, and it seems like nothing can stop Jess and Rory's feelings for each other.
5 Season 3: An Intense Break-Up
Dean ends his relationship with Rory during the Stars Hollow dance marathon in the third season episode "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?" and while it's sad, it's not a huge surprise. He's fed up with watching Jess and Rory flirt and banter and he knows that it's a lost cause to try to save his relationship.
Rory and Jess start dating immediately and by the next episode, they're stealing kisses whenever they can, which must feel super awkward for Dean since, of course, he still has to live in Stars Hollow.
4 Season 4: Rory Loses Her Virginity To Dean
Rory has sex for the first time with Dean in the season 4 episode "Raincoats and Recipes." This definitely changes their relationship as after being exes for a while, they're now in a strange place where they realize they still share an attraction and real feelings.
When Lorelai comes home, Rory shares that she lost her virginity to Dean, and Lorelai can't understand why her daughter would make that choice considering the fact that Dean is married to Lindsay. It's one of the rare times when the mother and daughter duo don't seem to see eye to eye and it's also obvious that Rory and Dean have a bond that has never really gone away.
3 Season 5: Rory And Dean Get Back Together
Rory and Dean get back together in season 5 of Gilmore Girls after Lorelai's shock that Rory would lose her virginity to someone who was married.
RELATED: Gilmore Girls: 10 Things Fans Love Most About The Show, According To Reddit
This love story continues to be super rocky. When Lorelai suggests a double date with Luke and Dean, she and Rory struggle with how awkward it is, and Luke is upset because he doesn't approve of Dean. After attending a Friday Night Dinner, Dean feels left out and like he can't possibly be the right person for Rory now. It's hard for Rory to balance being a Yale student and spending time with him, which echoes their high school days when he said she spent too much time studying. They break up again, and Rory starts seeing Logan.
2 Seasons 6 & 7: Officially Out Of Each Other's Lives
In seasons 6 and 7 of Gilmore Girls, Rory is all about Logan, and their relationship leads to some negative changes in her life.
RELATED: 10 Foods To Have At Your Gilmore Girls Themed Sleepover
Rory and Dean seem to be out of each other's lives for good. In season 6, Rory sees Jess a few times, but no one hears what Dean is up to, as his last appearance is in the fifth season. At first, it must seem like things are simpler with Logan since he's confident, fun-loving, and willing to commit to Rory, but of course, things get more complicated as Rory realizes Logan has some family problems that he tends to ignore. Logan's father Mitchum is very judgemental and demanding, and he doesn't support Rory and Logan's romance.
1 A Year In The Life: Bumping Into Each Other At Doose's Market
Rory still loves Stars Hollow as much as ever in the revival A Year In The Life, and she even bumps into Dean at Doose's Market.
This is a fitting place for them to see each other again since this was the setting of their first kiss and where Dean used to work when they began dating. The two haven't seen each other in years and have a brief conversation. Rory thanks Dean for being so sweet to her and says that their relationship was a really good thing in her life. Dean is glad to hear that but he has definitely moved way past Rory and Stars Hollow. He's married, has his own family, and doesn't seem to really think about Rory anymore.

Have you seen the bold type do you recommend it?
*steps up on soap box* ahem
Why I recommend The Bold Type
I know that a bunch of people have written posts like this, but here’s my iteration, which comes from a place of: 1. Love, 2. being the exact target audience, and 3. watching too many TV shows that don’t give me what I want. The Bold Type, as it turns out, is all about going after what you want. It is about rejecting the societal standard that tells women to become meek in the workplace and, instead, use that standard as a bar over which you can raise yourself and become even better. The Bold Type is along the same vein as the short-lived MTV show Sweet/Vicious— feminism for women, to entertain women, to show women in lights that we are interested in seeing. I think that the success of this show could cause a boom of similar shows— sleek, modern, female-centric. Watching The Bold Type isn’t just about The Bold Type. It’s about supporting the content that we want to see.
There are three main characters— Jane, Kat, and Sutton. All are best friends. All are in different places in their careers. All are successful in their own right. And all work at the fabled Scarlet Magazine, a magazine written by women for women to be their saucy older sister, guiding them through life. Instead of 50 Ways To Please Your Man, it’s 50 Ways To Please Yourself. Instead of Lipsmackers That Will Stay On While You’re Lipsmacking it’s Lipsmackers That Will Stay On While You Take On The World. Their boss, Jacqueline (we’ll get to her later; she’s my favorite character) refers to this as “self-feminism.” Other people are important, absolutely, but make sure you’re taking care of yourself and your needs too when it comes to work, relationships, and sex. Scarlet Magazine is about real women who are motivated, who are struggling, who are successful, who are scared, who are human. It’s a publication that I, personally, would love to read.
Jane works for the writing department. She is a young writer who is thirsty to prove herself, but is also conscious of the fact that she’s low on the totem pole. The pilot begins on her first day as a writer, when you find out that Jane is a smart, capable, confident young woman who was raised on Scarlet Magazine. This is her dream job. She’s organized, thoughtful, and resilient. Although she tends to complain about her assignments, she always comes through and makes them her own.
Kat works in social media— in fact, she’s the head of her department. She tends to see the world through the lens of her camera even when she isn’t working. Kat, by nature of her position, is always on-call. She sees what is beautiful about the world and what is beautiful about people. She also knows, with great clarity, what is important to her, and always fights for these issues— perhaps a little relentlessly. Kat excels at her job, but she doesn’t excel at relationships. She likes “casual,” preferring to have flings. When she meets Adena, a beautiful Muslim lesbian, her idea of relationships and her sexual identity goes out the window. I am looking forward to seeing Kat and Adena’s relationship evolve just as any ol’ heterosexual relationship on television would— full of ups and downs, but also full of love, sex, and moments that just make you hold your breath. Luckily, these two ladies already serving a full course meal.
Sutton is the final female in our group of girls. Undoubtedly the lowest of the three girls on the corporate ladder, Sutton’s reason for that is simple: she didn’t have the socioeconomic privilege that Kat and Jane had been lucky to have, and got off to a more disadvantaged start. Sutton had fought her way to her position tooth-and-nail. And, better yet, she’s damn good at her job. Sutton is the most tenacious character on the show. She’s spent years fighting for herself, and she isn’t about to stop now. The romantic plot-line revolving around Sutton involves her dating a superior in the company, which is normally a story arc that might make me cringe, but Sutton is 25 and Richard is probably in his late-20s, early-30s. There’s lots of respect between the two of them, and their relationship isn’t a conflict of interest because Richard works for the legal department for the company that owns Scarlet. This relationship is adorable, sexy, and Sutton absolutely holds the power in it, meaning that we, as audience members, can root for these two.
The Bold Type shows female friendships exactly the way I know them to be. They love and support each other. They overshare. They talk over each other. They play and tease. They make cultural references in a speedy fashion that temporarily makes you think you’re watching Gilmore Girls. They get selfish. They apologize for being selfish. They fight and make up. They change the direction of their conversations constantly, flashing from topic to topic like strobe lights, showcasing how incredible women are at multi-tasking. It’s the dream female friendship that all of us are desperate for on TV, and no romantic sub-plot is going to tear that down. It’s like Friends without the guys, and as much as I love Chandler, with a show like The Bold Type, I think we can live without him.
Perhaps the best character on The Bold Type is the girls’ boss, Jacqueline. She is the head of Scarlet Magazine; the leader who knows what she wants and knows how to get it. As fearless as she is, she is not to be feared. Jacqueline may be respected, admired, and adhered to by her staff, but if you’re looking for Miranda Priestly, you won’t find her here. Jacqueline cares about facilitating the careers of her employees. She rules her disciples with a firm but fair hand, often giving them more than they deserve. Life is hard, especially for women in the corporate world, and Jacqueline understands that. Her character’s scenes are always an absolute treat— the ones I look forward to the most when I sit down on the couch to watch The Bold Type with a glass of red wine and a feeling of safety on the side. Because I, as a viewer, have learned in just a few episodes (five, to be exact) that these writers are ones that I can trust. They’re speaking using my voice, the voice of my friends, the voice of my peers, the voice of my generation.
Turning your television on to The Bold Type means hearing women discussing issues that are relevant to you. It means being inspired by their tenacity and individual power. It means enjoying an episode full of sumptuous fashion, invigorating music, and a bustling city life. The Bold Type is a show that you can turn on and see yourself reflected in your TV screen— whether it’s your sexual identity, your racial identity, or the personality traits that make you who you are. It’s not that The Bold Type never utilizes tropes, cliches, or predictability. It’s that they do it differently, they do it better, they do it while conscious of what it is and what their show is.
The Bold Type doesn’t necessarily preach that you a required to live your life boldly. The lesson to learn here is much simpler than that: live. Simply go out and live your life, get what you want, make yourself happy. Stay safe, stay kind, stay supportive, stay healthy, stay loving each other. Perhaps Jacqueline describes this mentality best in her speech in the pilot episode of the show. She says, “I expect you to have adventures. I expect you to fall in love. To get your hearts broken. I expect you to have sex with the wrong people; have sex with the right people. To make mistakes and make amends, take a leap and make a splash. And I expect you to unleash holy hell on anybody who tries to hold you back.”
So you heard her. Let’s go unleash holy hell, ladies.

Second Chances - Jeff x Reader: Chapter 21
Summary: Reader and Jeff work a project and become fast friends. The project ends and they go their separate ways, neither forgetting the other. With Hollywood being a small community, you two bump into one another either at events or projects, but there is always something keeping you apart. Will the obstacles ever end? Chapter 21 Summary: Reader has an event at her job. Someone close to the reader is hurt. Warnings: language (as usual), angst, hospital A/N: Please leave comments or let me know if you want to be tagged, etc. I took a little bit of liberty with the second event. But I tried to make it reasonable. Word count: 2100 Catch up here: Masterlist Tags: @jml509 @jasoncrouse @yellatthetopofyourlungs @bookchic20 @prettyepiic @rizflo-blog @curious-sub7 @backseat-negan @warriorqueen1991
The very next day, you were at work and Jeff called you, he never did that, you always called him. That’s how you did it when only one of you was working. “What’s wrong?” you answered. “It’s Norman. He was in an accident. It’s bad,” he said. “How bad. He’s not…” you couldn’t bring yourself to say it. “Don’t know yet. He went through a window. His face is messed up, not sure about his eye. I wanted you to know before it was all over the news,” he said. “What do you want to do?” you asked him. “Do you know where he is yet?” “No, I need to call Helena later. She called to let me know what happened, she’s still his emergency contact. When I know more, I’ll let you know,” he said. You ended the call and worked the rest of the day in a daze. When work was finished for the day, you went to the production office and asked them if you could have time off to visit your friend. They were less than pleased with your request. They said that you could have vacation time, but not until the current episode was completed, in seven days. “This is such bullshit! I never ask you guys for anything. Do you know that in my entire working career, I’ve never taken a sick day or a vacation day? I need this time off. He’s like family to me and my boyfriend,” you argued. “Okay,” the executive producer said, “Just make it permanent. Make sure your forwarding address is correct with HR before you leave.” “You know, I’ve worked some shit jobs before, and this one is probably #2 on the list. Everybody fucking hates each other here. It’s amazing that you have such a following. Fuck you, I don’t need this job,” you said. You were about to storm out when the executive called after you. “That’s a shitty attitude that won’t get you hired with this studio again.” You reeled around and went back to lean over the desk, “Did you just fucking threaten me? Believe it or not, a pee-on like me has a lot of friends in high places. Maybe you should be more concerned for YOUR future with the studio!” That felt good, that felt really good, and slamming the door on the way out was the icing on the cake. It wasn’t entirely true, but that jerk didn’t know. Jeff would probably be surprised, but you knew he’d back you up on your decision.
A few days later, you and Jeff were out on the patio, sitting together under the big fluffy blanket when Jeff got the information he needed from Helena. Norman was in critical condition and the German hospital was not going to let him have visitors for two more days. Two days passed and Helena called Jeff in tears saying that Norman was awake and didn’t want any visitors. She was pissed, too, but she respected his wishes because of Mingus. You and Jeff didn’t have to respect a damn thing. “Oh, hell no, we’re going,” you told Jeff. “I dunno, babe, he can be pretty stubborn, too,” he said, secretly proud of her. “Stubborn, huh? I’ve had scarier people than Norman Reedus scream at me,” you said. “I’m gonna book us a trip.” “Sweetheart, not that I’m knocking your decision to quit, but aren’t you going to be itching for work once we come back?” he asked. You smiled. You had an ace in the hole. Not only did you get an email from Bob Singer, you also heard from Kim Manners telling you to get transferred to Vancouver for a new show he would be on to direct. “I got an email from Bob a couple days ago. He wants me on his crew in Vancouver. He’s got a show that he’s trying to get picked up with Kripke and Manners. It’s pretty fucking awesome. There’s a catch though,” you said. Jeff smirked, “You mean the fact that you told an executive producer to go fuck himself?” “I didn’t say that…per se… but the dick had it coming. I wasn’t going to stand there and let him shit on me because I wanted to go see my friend,” you explained. “Whoa, I’m on your side, sweetheart. I’m just saying, if you’re gonna do it, you should get on it now so if you need to smooth shit over, you can,” he said. He was right, he usually was, you just didn’t like to point it out. “What about you, do you want me to take it? Vancouver isn’t a tough flight, but it’ll suck none the less,” you said. Jeff had finally found a manager that was going to do him justice. Pilot season was coming soon and you’d checked with them to make sure they had their hustle-game going. Jeff was excited, he had a bunch of auditions that were coming up. Most of them either filmed in Vancouver or somewhere around Hollywood. Your job would mean you would be steady in Vancouver for filming season. “(Y|N), I think you’ll be miserable if you don’t have steady work. I love you to death, but I can’t take you around the house all day,” he said smiling. You elbowed him in the ribs. “Watch it pal, I’m the one that washes your clothes, I can make things disappear.” He chuckled, “I’m kidding!” He rubbed his ribs. “Your elbows are so bony! You know I always want you close, but sometimes that’s just not going to work out. It’ll be cool if I get a job in Vancouver.” “Okay, I’ll give Bob a call later and let him know what happened,” you told him.
Your call to Bob had gone well. Telling him what you’d done when you left Gilmore Girls had him rolling. “Don’t worry about it, kid,” he’d said, “I’m the one who gets to make the call on who is hired. Call me when you get back from Germany, we’ll figure out when to get you up to Vancouver.” “Thanks Bob, I’m looking forward to it,” you told him, sincerely grateful you had a friend like him. The worry about not having a job to go back to was starting to get to you, just like Jeff said. It had taken a few days to actually talk to Bob and you were glad when you finally heard his voice. As if he knew what you were thinking, he said, “It’s good to talk to you, kid. I need my best up here, and you’re it. I think this show has at least a couple good years in it. The boards look really good.” “Can’t wait to see it. Can you send me a script at all, or do I need to bribe Kripke?” you joked. “Let’s set up a meet up in Vancouver and we can talk details then,” he suggested. You told Bob that sounded good and you managed to work out a meet with Bob at the same time that Jeff was going to do some auditions up there. It was something nice to look forward to, Vancouver was a beautiful city and it would be nice to spend time there with Jeff.
A week after Helena had called last, you were standing outside of Norman’s room listening to the English-speaking nurse trying to talk to him. He wasn’t having it. The nurse came back to the door where you were waiting for her. She opened the door to only show her face, Norman was still going on. “I’m sorry miss, he is adamant, no visitors,” she said. “Why doesn’t anyone listen!? Tell her to go the fuck away!” you hear Norman ranting, his voice sounded odd. “Miss, he’s not himself…” she said. “I’m not leaving until I see him,” you told her flatly. Jeff had given up in favor of food. He’d lasted seven hours before he got hungry enough to leave. “He can be a stubborn ass all he wants, but I perfected it!!” you yelled so he could hear. You looked back to the nurse, “If he pitches a fit, I’ll say I snuck in so you don’t get in trouble.” She looked down and to the inside of the room. You knew you had her. She let go of the door so you could walk in. She squeezed your arm in passing. You rolled your shoulders and gave your arms a shake. He was gonna be tear into you as much as he could. “I told you not to fucking come!” he bellowed. Yep, he was mad. He started throwing things in your general direction, missing you to the right. The left side of his face was in bad shape, still covered in bandages. You’d seen worse, but not by much. When he was out of ammo, you approached his bed. You went to his right side of the bed so he could see you without strain. You didn’t say anything for a moment. He wouldn’t look at you, either. “You gonna tell me it’s not that bad?” he asked. “Nope, you look like shit,” you told him. That made him turn to look at you. “You’re a shitty friend.” “No, I’m not, and neither is Jeff. He’s just out getting us food. You can do this alone if you want, but we wanted to make sure you knew that we’d be here if you needed us,” you told him. “We stopped at Helena’s before we came. She gave us this for you.” You pulled out a photo frame and handed it to him. You watched as he looked at the recent picture of Mingus. After a long pause, he laid the photo down on his lap, “What if I don’t look the same…after? What if he doesn’t recognize me?” You took his hand in yours and squeezed. “You’re still the same person, Norm. I think he’s happy you’re still alive. He’s just worried you won’t come home.” He looked a little emotional, “Word is still out on whether or not you have brain damage, though.” “Dick,” he muttered. “Asshole,” you said. He’d had a couple surgeries already, but the swelling was still prominent. His face had been wrapped tight and though he was sitting at an angle, it was tough for him to talk for extended periods yet. He had very little feeling in his face, said it was like half his head was full of Novocain all the time making it hard for him to speak. You weren’t going to blow smoke up his ass about his condition. He was out of the toughest part, but he still needed at least one more surgery before they’d let him leave. Jeff had come back about twenty minutes after you’d barged in. He’d brought food back for all of you and you ate a bit and helped Norman with his. With his face feeling numb, eating was a challenge. You just picked up what didn’t stay in and didn’t make a fuss over it. Jeff noticed when Norman was having a hard time keeping his eye open and he nudged you and nodded at Norm. Jeff kissed his forehead on his right side and said his goodbye. “Love you, brother,” he said. “Is there any place on your head where you can feel anything?” you asked him. He pointed to his right cheek. Your heart broke a little for him, but he was tough and you knew he would be fine. You took his right hand, put your left on the back of his neck and kissed him quickly on his cheek. “I love you, too, Norman,” you looked in his eyes. “We have a few more days here before we need to go back. Don’t pitch a hissy when we come back, okay?” “You’re so mean to me,” he said sleepily. “Only ‘cause I like you,” you smirked and stood up. “Jesus, what do you do to people you don’t like?” he grumbled. “I’m sure they live peaceful, happy lives,” you squeezed his hand. “Lucky fucks,” he said. You waved and left him to rest. Jeff and you went to visit Norman during normal visiting hours each of the next few days and brought him things to do so he could kill time. You found him some English crossword puzzles and magazines to look at. When you weren’t with Norman, you and Jeff did some touristy things and, for the most part, had a good time. Seeing Norman all jacked up wasn’t a happy thing, but it was good to see him and you both hoped it would help to lift his spirits. It was time to go home and get back to work.

ASK THE FANDOM--RESPONSES
Here’s this week’s Ask the Fandom question:
Logan Echolls makes a lot of racially-inflammatory comments towards Weevil, especially in season 1. Is he a racist? If so, why is this glossed over in the narrative? If not, why does he make these comments? Weevil also makes insulting comments based on race and gender (towards Veronica and Wallace) in season 1. Is HE sexist or racist? And if not, why does he say these things?
And here’s what you all had to say:
@hermione-mak-gilmore—Logan and Weevil are not racist or sexist— whatever comments they make are simply intended to hurt whomever they’re targeting. Both don’t care what they are saying as long as it has the intended impact.
Logan does this a lot throughout the course of the series; he makes sexist comments to Veronica and Kendall in addition to his racist attitude towards Weevil. I’m not absolving Logan for what he says, but I don’t think it comes from a place of genuine racism or sexism. He knows that the easiest way to insult Weevil is by using his race, and the same goes for Veronica and Kendall. I think this is the same for Weevil, as he constantly proves throughout the show that not only is he not sexist, but that he has a great respect and love for women (Veronica, Lily, his grandmother, etc.)
While I don’t think that Logan and Weevil’s sexist and racist comments should be excused, I also think that real racism and sexism should be recognized as something different. Celeste Kane, perfectly embodying these attitudes, for example.
@iamjmgardner—What a brilliant question.
I’m going to sort of answer and talk about who I think is ACTUALLY racist/sexist in the VM universe.
I think, for the most part, Logan and Weevil fall into similar categories here. They both are performing a masculine bravado that includes racist and sexist remarks. Do I actually think that either of them held those feelings/resentments deep down? No. Logan’s self-loathing meant that he probably desperately envied Weevil’s family/home-life and having someone like his Grandma around all the time. Weevil was the leader of a biker gang and, therefore, had to perform a certain kind of masculinity to ensure his personal security/position in that group. I think they both showed that what they really valued in others was loyalty. I also think they were both teenagers accounting for a lot of anger and instability in their lives, which meant that they weren’t perfect people. Not to mention that the society we live in, and especially, the VM universe is all about showing us that no matter how “conscious” you try to be inevitably you will find yourself bumping up against your own internalized sexist, racist, classist prejudices at different points, what matter is what you do next..when you realize this bias has come to the surface without you ever wanting it to, do you recognize it and then choose to do something about it/think differently in the future? I think for Logan and Weevil the answer to that question is yes they would.
NOW…
I think Duncan was actually racist/classist, unlike Logan who performs a lot of his entitled attitude—an act to protect how little self-worth he really has, Duncan is extremely racist/classist/(and could probably be argued sexist). Duncan seemed extremely racist to me inhis comment to Veronica in S1 Echolls Family Christmas. In response to him getting his laptop stolen, she says, “You lie down with dogs, you’re gonna get fleas” and Duncan immediately responds, “I didn’t invite him [Weevil]”. Duncan, who doesn’t even KNOW Weevil or have any real interaction with him thinks about him as a dog or less than nothing.
By the middle to end of S2, Logan and Weevil have developed a mutual respect for each other and share a deeper understanding of where the other one is coming from IMO.
@catefrankie--*insert gif of Elmo with the fire* THIS QUESTION WAS WRITTEN FOR ME
But for serious, vmheadquarters is clearly on a mission to make sure I get no work at all done this week, while also completely destroying my non-existent reputation as elusive fandom lurker. I seriously should be reading my Plato/Aristotle right now, so y’all are gonna get my thoughts in abbreviated form. This is a great question, first of all, because it establishes the two characters as paralleling each other. The show really dropped the ball on the Weevil/Logan relationship in later seasons (much like all of Weevil’s relationships, actually), but season one seemed to be trying to tell us that the two boys are very much alike. I think, specifically, that Weevil’s sexism and Logan’s racism parallel each other pretty clearly. I will be setting aside Weevil’s possible racism, because as far as I remember it was much more infrequent after the pilot, and I don’t want to go down the vmtranscripts rabbit hole looking for examples.
One of Logan’s most interesting qualities to explore is his occasional indefensible insensitivity – particularly the racism and classism. It’s definitely partly a defense mechanism, as is pretty clearly on display in An Echolls Family Christmas, but I also think it comes from his devastatingly accurate vision. Logan is the character in the show who sees the way things really are, sees the big truths which Veronica sometimes wants to hide from. If he says awful things, it’s because the world he sees is awful – and Logan’s not one to shy away from uncomfortable truths. I don’t necessarily think he believes all the things he says, but I also don’t think as a seventeen year old kid that he thinks he has the ability to change anything. He is not born a martyr or a crusader by any means, he’s not going to try to change the world or save everyone who’s in trouble; he’s very pragmatic. This is the system he finds himself in, and this is the way he is expected to behave – and so he plays directly into the expectations that have been set for him, but does it in such an over-the-top way that it almost counts as satire. His overtly horrible comments force the “nicer” characters around him to take a look at the more socially acceptable racist beliefs that they hold close to the chest, all the ways they take for granted that they are different and better than people like Weevil. But in Logan’s case, I think a significant portion of the nastiness is just a performance – if you pay attention to his actions rather than his words, he repeatedly demonstrates that he actually respects Weevil – he considers him a rival, but a worthy one, as shown particularly in Credit Where Credit’s Due and The Girl Next Door. They’re on their way to being something like unlikely allies when all of their various Lilly (and then Veronica) issues get in the way.
Does this mean we can we absolve Logan for all his verbal racism? Of course not. His unwillingness to exceed the expectations for people of his class, to go against the status quo, is genuinely one of his flaws. But reading between the lines, I think we can say that he actually overcomes his earlier paralyzing pragmatism when he joins the Navy. Not only does this mean he would have been placed alongside people of all backgrounds, but it shows a deeper hope that bad situations and messed up systems can be improved; they don’t have to stay bad.
Weevil’s sexism is pretty much the same deal: he talks the way he is expected to, but his actions betray a deeper, hidden respect. This is given less thematic importance – Logan’s racism is addressed fairly directly in two or three episodes, but Weevil just gets a series of quiet moments with different women. He clearly adores his grandmother, stays in school to make her proud, and confesses to a crime he didn’t commit for her. His relationship with Lilly isn’t just about sex – he says he could have loved her – and as much as I love Lilly, I suspect the high-school-restraining-order says more about her than it does about him, that she got tired of him and didn’t want to deal with more lovey-dovey men in her life than she already had to, since this is more or less the way she dealt with Logan as well. Then, Weevil is fond of Carmen from afar, but accepts that she’s dating someone else, and seeks justice for her without being prompted and presumably without getting any recognition or reward. And despite the way he talks to Veronica, he is perceptive enough to see that her reputation is not the truth of her – he says so in Credit Where Credit’s Due, and tellingly, he never actually “tries anything” with her, he makes the comments and then gets on with business, never expecting her to do anything for him or be anything for him that she doesn’t initiate. He does everything she asks, be it distracting Leo, intimidating a possible mascot thief, or warding off Logan – and eventually she doesn’t even have to ask. He shows up in The Bitch is Back without being called, paralleling his earlier action with Carmen. In both cases, a tape of a girl he respects is released without her knowledge or permission, and Weevil places the blame where it belongs. Despite the way he talks, Weevil recognizes that a woman’s sexuality is her own, that it is nobody else’s business – a fact which Dick never learns, and which even “nicer” characters like Leo are pretty damn fuzzy on. (If we are going to challenge Weevil on anything, though, his blind spot is definitely Felix.)
Furthermore, Veronica never seems at all fazed by Weevil’s comments; despite her history as a victim of sexual assault showing itself in other ways (off the top of my head, there are a few times she is visibly alarmed by casual physical contact from Wallace), she doesn’t seem to associate Weevil’s sexualizing her with anything violent, perhaps because she knows he actually sees her as more than that. And for his part, Weevil doesn’t seem to be trying to seriously discomfit her. His words don’t come from the same place as, say, street harassment; he’s not trying to assert his power, make her feel small. Look at his ridiculous bashful grin in the Pilot when he says, “I’m sorry, was that too dirty?” That is not the face of someone who was trying to make a weaker person afraid. Once Weevil and Veronica establish themselves as allies in the very first episode, all the banter is just a game they play – one which he drops immediately when things get serious. He could easily make a sexual comment when he arrives on his motorcycle to pick her up from the Echolls’ poolhouse, but what he actually says is “You okay?” And when the tape of her is released in the last episode, he opens with “I didn’t see the whole thing, alright?”, letting her know that he wouldn’t violate her like that, and then goes straight to “I don’t know what you plan on doing, but I’m offering my help. Whatever you need, I’m in.” I think these are the two moments that matter. Basically everything else is just noise. And in the movie, like Logan, grown-up Weevil is true to his best nature – he is married with a child, visibly smitten by his wife, and greets Veronica with respect and fondness.
THIS WAS LONGER THAN I MEANT FOR IT TO BE
tldr: both boys walk a different walk than they talk and are not what they seem, and both eventually mature enough that the inner heart overcomes the sketchy exterior.

I was tagged by @toobadforthefacts to do this, so why not?
Rules: Answer the questions in a new post and tag 10 blogs you would like to get to know better.
Nickname: Cat
Star sign: Aries
Height: 5′2 (S/O to all my other fun-size friends)
Time right now: 12:30 pm
Favourite music artist(s): I grew up on country music artists including George Strait, Martina McBride, and Brooks and Dunn; and while I still love them, I don’t listen to them much anymore. Switchfoot is also a childhood favorite and their music always brings back good memories. Mostly listen to Twenty One Pilots, Anberlin, Zac Brown Band, the Rocket Summer, and 1D.
Song stuck in your head: This song by Dodie Clark (who is quickly becoming one of my favorite youtubers)
Last movie watched: Fences. I’m not a huge fan of movies because I have a hard time relaxing and sitting still, but my mom loves them and we saw it on Christmas.
Last TV show watched: Gilmore Girls I think? Not a huge fan of TV either, but I like that show every once in a while when I’m tired. I’m pretty sure Netflix loves customers like me because I don’t use my money’s worth.
What are you wearing right now: What I've been wearing practically everyday since I was 15- Nike tempo shorts, a t-shirt, and Asics running shoes. When it gets chilly, I’ll wear a sweatshirt or a jacket too. When it gets below freezing, I’ll wear tights underneath my nike shorts. (To be fair, my college had a huge campus, and I had to walk everywhere when it was hot, so there was no point of dressing up. And now I’m in PT school, so we’re encouraged to wear exercise clothes, so it’s easier to work on each other.)
When did you create your blog: November 2015 when I wanted a place to vent and get some stuff off my chest about Larryland before leaving the fandom for good. Over a year later, here I am still.
What kind of stuff do you post: My blog is all over the place- anti stuff, Niall/Narry stuff, ex-Larry stuff (less now though) plus animal pictures and other random things.
Do you have any other blogs / saved URLs: catthecatlady because my friends keep telling me I need to start a cat blog, plus I need to do something with my 2000 cat pictures. Also have a studyblr. (Let me know if you have one and want me to follow yours.) And FLP.
Why did you chose your URL: Because Niall is definitely a ravenclaw :p
Hogwarts house: Huffleclaw
Pokemon team: No idea... My two best friends love Pokemon but I know virtually nothing about it.
Favorite color: blue
Average hours of sleep: 4-8 (yes it varies like no other)
Lucky number: 4? Don’t really have one to be honest
Favorite characters: Spike from BTVS, Hermione, Sirius Black, the Weasley twins. Can’t think of others rn because I usually prefer to read non-fiction for leisure.
How many blankets do you sleep with: If I actually manage to not fall asleep while studying- one duvet. If I fall asleep on the couch, usually 2 because my cats usually hog one when they sleep on top of me, so one for them and one for me.
Dream job: So many... My childhood dream was to be a marine biologist and study dolphins. Then I decided to do something more practical and become a veterinarian and work with marine mammals or work in wildlife/exotic animal medicine. Then I went to college and decided I wanted to work with people. And long-story short, I decided I wanted to be a pain-management physical therapist which I’m working towards currently.
Following: 250 blogs. Probably 50 or so are random, non-1D blogs.
I tag @lovedandinlove1d @draconispotter @ladsnightout @rocketmommy @pink-ass-heart @millyilg @infinitees @ecclxsiastes @missy14us and @justonedir

Waiting
I’ve never been a patient person. From as far back as my memory goes, I have been playing the waiting game. It’s a paradox, really. I can triumph in never losing, but I can’t smile at my victories because it’s a game I’ll never beat. As a kid, I’d wait for dinner to be ready or school vacation to arrive. As a teenager, I’d wait for my friends to text me back about making plans or for the next Carrie Underwood album to drop (that one can come any day now, by the way). Now, as a college student, I wait with trepidation for grades to be posted online and with boredom for classes to be over. I am quite familiar with the puzzling reality that ten minutes feels like mere seconds when I’m scrolling through the Internet, but an antagonizing eternity when I’m sitting in class forcing myself to take copious notes.
But there is another eternity I deal with on a regular basis, and this particular form of the waiting game is far from a recent phenomenon. It is the time between 8:50 and 9:00 on Sunday nights before The Walking Dead comes on. It is the extra week between new episodes of The Affair because Christmas happened to fall on a Sunday this year. It was the time between that first cryptic article about a Gilmore Girls revival and November 25th of this year. It has been one of the very few drawbacks of every summer and winter break, especially now that many TV shows go on hiatuses that last far longer than the holiday respite now that mid-season finales have become an entity.
However, although I have only the upmost respect and sympathy for binge watchers, I am, at the end of the day, a sucker for live TV. Where would I be if it weren’t for the waiting game? I suppose I’d be playing it nonetheless: counting down the days until the next big get-together with my friends and crossing off squares on my calendar until it says another break from school is upon me. But there’s a part of me that needs events to happen sooner: a consistent program that will last an hour at the same time every week; a short escape from my world with something that mirrors my own life but is just different enough to never come close to it. Plus, there is a certain part of my mind that feels obliged to honor the writers of my favorite shows with the courtesy to watch them in the manner they have set out for me. Over the years, this has meant standing by for months to find out who killed Rebecca, if Luke would accept Lorelai’s proposal, and who fell victim to Negan’s Lucille. (I’m still not over that last one, by the way). For me, the waiting game is inevitable. So I’m still playing.
I finished Homeland a few days ago after starting the series in September. I never thought I would enjoy a show about terrorism; I figured it’d hit too close to home with the recent headlines and fear spreading throughout our country and around the world. But I wanted another drama after realizing The Leftovers would only last for one more season. And, despite that third season I had heard so much about, Google was still consistently recommending it, so I finally decided to give it a try. It didn’t take long for me to become enthralled in the world of the CIA from Langley to Berlin. I found myself questioning everything. What are Brody’s real motivations? How did Claire Danes manage to inherit some of that acting talent I was convinced Tatiana Maslany stole from the rest of Hollywood? Why is Dana still on my screen? Is there some kind of television photoshopping I don’t know about that allows a baby to look so much like Damien Lewis? Of course, season six premieres on January 15th, but it will be available online much sooner. (Why, Showtime? I don’t understand.) That early viewing possibility tempts me like a molten chocolate cake, but watching it would welcome another eternity since the next episode will not be available early (as least as far as I know). This situation brings me the only slight victory I ever find with the waiting game if I manage to hold out until the live television showing. I am quite stubborn, so it looks like I won’t run into Carrie Mathison again until January 15th (but don’t quote me on that one).
But I am not exactly witnessing a drought in the meantime. If I truly limited myself to only live TV, I would be thoroughly missing out. I am slowly making my way through the second season of Twin Peaks. (I started it concurrently with Homeland. Needless to say, I wish I could find the later episodes more compelling.) Once that is finished, I promised one of my friends that I would watch The Healer, a Korean drama. TV shows of this genre are like a drug to her. Far from a fan of the waiting game, she has lost nights of sleep to binge watching. I can only admire such dedication. Next up is American Horror Story. (I still have to finish Hotel, which I am committed to doing before starting Roanoke). But I like to have two shows that I watch that are not live, and all the latter ones fill the first slot for the time being. The second, which once belonged to Homeland, was replaced with Mr. Robot last night. While I always say on should not judge a show by its pilot, I became enthralled after the first five seconds. The show strikes me as one with a good combination of drama and suspense. Elliot, Rami Malek’s character, seems just likable enough for me to sympathize with, but far enough away from my own world to keep me guessing. With only nine episodes to go, I might be finished with the first before Netflix is unable to turn off autoplay for Twin Peaks. All the while, The Affair will still not return until next year. In the meantime, I’ll be waiting.

Glee Memories: 1x15 The Power of Madonna
A long, long time ago, as Glee was approaching graduation in Season 3, I found myself nostalgic with some rare free time on my hands. So I decided to rewatch the series from the beginning and jot down some memories, discrepancies that have arisen since, fave quotes, tally solos - all that good stuff, strictly for shits and giggles.
8 years later (eek!) and once more I find myself with an unexpected abundance of free time. With so many revisiting or being newly introduced to the show between binge watching during Quarantine and all the tragedy that has surrounded the show since it went off the air, I figured I’d finish what I started. And by finish, I mean go through the end of S3. Cause I truly cannot acknowledge what happened after that. Except for 5B.
Kicking this off by reposting the first 15 episodes I already went through. Enjoy!
1x15 The Power of Madonna heeee, Sue just referenced Desperately Seeking Susan. Man, I loved that movie as a kid. Who’s That Girl as well anybody remember that one?!
hahaha, how have I never noticed before that Quinn is drawing a picture of Rachel Berry…a very unflattering picture that says “LOSER”? Awesome.
hahaha. Jesse and Rachel ‘hypothetically’ went to a Wiggles concert. Seriously, he’s kinda perfect for her.
Aw – The Montage from A Chorus Line is playing under Jesse’s pressure-her-into-sex moment. I have such fond memories of that song. I was featured in this song for a show that ended up changing the course of my entire life, quite literally. :)
“Would you please stop talking? You’re grossing out my baby.”
“But I can’t wait to get a guy mad at me for saying ‘no’.” Bite your tongue, Mercedes. Also…be careful what you wish for.
Still creeps me out that they have this whole sex talk with Mr. Schue in the room. And that he eavesdrops. And that when he speaks up it’s to ask if they’re having that much ‘guy trouble’, not to actually be a good teacher and help Rachel out in her “my boyfriend’s pressuring me to have sex but I’m not ready” situation or to respond to Britany and Santana’s advice to just never say no and that they should have more self-respect…teacher of the year indeed.
Do women really still earn 70 cents to every dollar a man does for the same job? Oh, eff that!
More Emma pamphlets: HELP! I’m in love with my stepdad! I still breastfeed …but how old is too old? Congratulations, you’re pregnant. Proper Wiping: Easy as 1…2…3 …and something about Toxic Shock Syndrome and Asperger’s that I can’t read, lol.
Ugh, douche. Will just said this area of expertise (sex) is Emma’s blindspot. Jerk.
So Glee seems to have a knack for insulting folks that will later be guest stars. Gwyneth Paltrow and John Stamos have been mentioned thus far, and Lindsay Lohan just made the list. Hmmm…
I love the Ann Coultier jab. Cause I despise that ‘woman’
Ray of Light routine on stilts. Still leaves me speechless. My favorite part is still when the men on stilts do these assisted lifts with women who are not. They get them so effing high. It’s just amazing.
“Somehere on the English countryside in a stately manor home, Madonna is weeping.”
“Hall of fame MILF”
HA! Artie’s look in response to Tina giving him side-eye. Too funny.
Finn has no idea what misogynistic means. #BlessFinnsHeart
Kurt is gonna do a video of Madonna’s styles. With Mercedes. Kurtcedes love. :)
Yeah, I find it hard to believe high school boys wouldn’t be rubbin’ one out at these girls in corsets, touchin’ themselves and bein’ a little S&M with one another. Even if they hate Madonna with a passion. Their disinterest is completely unrealistic.
Britany has a (younger presumably as she plays soccer with a 7 year old) sister. Forgot about that. I think RIB did too.
The way to get a man forever is to take his virginity? Really? I would think that would unleash him into a sexual awakening and sleeping with everything he could now that he wouldn’t be perceived as ‘lame’ or a loser or whatever for being a virgin…no?
Finnocence. Nice.
Can we acknowledge that Finn lost his virginity in a plot for Santana to snag a younger man (by what, 4 days I think she said?) to emulate Madonna per Sue and not get kicked off the Cheerios? That’s…just so sad.
“You’re about as sexy as a Cabbage Patch Kid.” – ha!
So…watching this post-Nationals, does Emma get to have Madonna playing in her office now? ;)
Finn’s pissed that Rachel lied to him and didn’t really break it off with Jesse. Evs. Mind ya business, Finn.
So because he’s jealous or his ego is hurt or whatever, Finn tells Rachel if her and Jesse leads to something bad for the entire Glee club not to expect anymore friendship from him. Um…yeah. I’d marry him a year or two later. Cause…clearly he’ll be there through rough times…douche. Selfish, childish douche.
I still really like this mash-up of Borderline/Open Your Heart. And as much as I don’t love Finchel, the angst in this is my cup o’ tea. I like it.
I do love all the Madonna shout-outs in the hallway. Makes me feel old that I recognize each of these looks. Oy.
Finn, why are you just randomnly tearing books from the shelves and knocking them to the floor as you walk through the library? Such a badass…
I was watching an episode of Gilmore Girls and Brad was the piano player for one of Emily Gilmore’s parties (I think Rory’s college grad party). Hilarious. Also, he looked EXACTLY the same. How long ago was that?!
I find it awesome that Mercedes has a picture of a gal from So You Think You Can Dance in her locker. I love that show.
Up With People rejects. Ha.
Hmm. Will is suddenly not intimidated at all by Sue and her quips. What brought that on? Although, it’s hot when he stands up to her. Until he makes fun of her hair. Then he seems like a jerk.
“Oh, snap!” I love this moment. And the gif that came out of it.
Birth moment of the Sue, Kurt, Mercedes dynamic right there. Yay. :)
Sue just told Kurt and Mercedes about her sister being handicapped. I don’t care what anyone says, she likes them, even just a little bit. And I love this dynamic of the three of them. It always makes me smile.
Hahaha – Kurt’s reaction to Sue not being able to keep up with the latest looks when she was younger. Hilarious.
“Mercedes is black. I’m gay. We make culture.”
“I picked the Stephen Sondheim biography section for our clandestine meeting because only he can express my melonchalia.”
“You deserve epic romance.” Listen. Looking back from the end of Season 3, I really am not understanding why I’m supposed to want Rachel with Finn. Jesse makes so much more sense.
“Foreplay shall begin at 7:30 sharp.” Oh Emma. A for effort.
Vogue. Man. I was so little when this came out. I remember when it premiered on MTV.
Jane Lynch has such long legs. I’m jealous.
“Will Schuester. I hate you.”
Like A Virgin still makes me really uncomfortable. For so many reasons. I just…don’t need to see this side of any of these characters. I feel like a voyeur.
How did Santana and Finn swing a motel room at 15 years old? Hmm….
Add Whoopi to that list of joked about future guest stars. Yeesh…that’s 5 now? 4? Stamos, Paltrow, Lohan and Goldberg.
Sue is gonna reinvent Kurt and Mercedes. Squee!
Why is Rachel looking at sheet music for Where Is Love? Cause 1. I hate that song, 2. I hate that show, and 3. shoutout to the pilot?
Finn just asked Rachel how her date with Jesse went. With the subtext of “did you sleep with him?” WHY are they even talking about this? I don’t get it. It’s private Finn, so rude you’d even ask. Also, how does he even know they are even close to sex? I missed something. This is so weird. Made even more weird that neither of them seems to think it’s weird that they’re having this conversation. Ugh.
“Just come out so we can talk. Or sing about it.” Jesse is ridiculously perfect for Rachel Berry.
Okay, I’m gonna rant for a second: I know I’m anal and put him on a pedestal and all, but S3, they make it sound like Sam had sex with one of his clients at the strip club; after they’ve shoved super-romantic in-love-with-Mercedes Sam at us for like, 9 episodes in a row over a span of like, 3 or 4 months; regardless of how I personally feel about that or that ship, right now we see a super uncomfortable scene that still breaks my heart where Finn is dealing with the aftermath of sleeping with Santana, when he has feelings for someone else, but more in that he doesn’t have feelings for her, therefore it didn’t mean anything and it’s clearly not sitting well with him. Regret is all over his face. It’s so sad. So…why did they do the same thing but expect it to be okay in S3 regarding Sam (but even more gross cause of the whole stripper/client aspect)? Eff you, Glee.
I feel like this might be the most real and vulnerable I’ve ever seen Santana (in the post-coital conversation with Finn in the motel room bed). I mean…a couple moments may rival it, but it’s definitely top 5 if not top 3. It’s so sad to see how she really feels about this aspect of her life that publicly she seems so proud of and invincible to. Man. Poor Santana.
Um…is Puck playing Ninja in the background or just being a human statue or something? It doesn’t look like anyone is playing with him, so it must be the latter? Random.
Something changed in the way I felt about Glee after this episode, now that I look back on it. I felt like I should’ve left this episode feeling like “wow – they’re ballsy and go against the grain! They’ll do the unexpected” but…instead I was left with a feeling of “do I trust these writers with these people I’ve come to care about?” I’m referring to the possibility of consummation with 3 couples, 2 of which would have seemed…not completely unhealthy and one that obviously was…and they had those 2 chicken out and consummated the 1 that just shouldn’t have because it was kind of an irresponsible message to send to the youngins watching this show who they say at times they speak to when they write things like Kurt’s gay storyline or about being an outcast but finding a group that understands you and being happy with who you are. But here I’m sure they’d say something about how they’re not role models and shouldn’t be emulated. Yeah. This was the beginning of the end of my true love for Glee and the beginning of me just loving certain characters and occasional episodes or storylines…the beginning of my love to hate Glee. Whee. :/
It’s cute that Will polished Emma’s shoes. :)
I know a lot of people think it’s condescending and all, but I think the way Will handles suggesting counseling etc. to Emma was nice. There’s something mature about it. I think it’s that he’s like “we need to take action to work through our issues or they’re not gonna go away” as a team. It was nice.
“What the hell? It seems like now people are doing things JUST to hurt my feelings!” Ok, so maybe Finn IS more perfect for Rachel than I thought. Selfish little man-child.
Jesse St. James just joined New Directions. Kurt is pissed cause it means he’ll have no chance at a solo. Mercedes mentions that they only trot her out at the end of songs to wail on the last note, how is that okay? Truth.com. Also, why were those two issues NEVER addressed by Will? They were put out there, they were true as hell, and they were just ignored. Teacher of the year indeed.
Santana points out that obvs Jesse is a spy. Mr. Schue sticks up for Jesse and lets him join. Yet Rachel wasn’t allowed to date him cause that would be bad for the Glee club? #WTF?
“Mr. Schue, is he your son?”
“Okay, from the top!”
4 Minutes. Seriously, I never thought Chris Colfer was hot before I saw this song. But let’s be real – he is hot as fuck in this song, I still think so. It was the first time I noticed as well that boy had grown into a little man! When did THAT happen? Wasn’t he just a baby-faced nugget like, 3 episodes before this?
Also, I love both of the vocals for them on this song.
Ok. This still pisses me off (can you tell this is an ep that started my rage towards Glee? Lol): Emma, Mr. Schue and Rachel are all distraught and shocked when they see that Mercedes and Kurt have joined the Cheerios…WHY? Britany and Santana are already on the Cheerios and in Glee and it’s fine. Quinn was. Why is this such a betrayal? They didn’t QUIT ND to join the Cheerios. And isn’t Rachel in like, 16 clubs in addition to Glee? Puck, Finn, Mike and Matt are on the football team. Artie has jazz band and AV club. Mercedes and Kurt and Tina are the only ones who are ONLY in Glee Club. This is stupid.
Shot of Quinn who is happy as a pig in shit for the two of them. THANK YOU Quinn for having sense and being a cool person and good friend.
“You guys could’ve at least given me a heads up.” “You mean, the same you way you gave us a heads up before NOT giving us a solo almost every week?” PREACH!!
You expect me to believe that the sexuality of Express Yourself, Artie working on that kick-ass Vogue video, or that amazing performance of 4 Minutes didn’t sway the boys to like Madonna…but their shitty rendition of “What It Feels Like For A Girl” did? Fuck you, Glee. I’m not an idiot. Stop treating me like one.
Why is Kurt a part of this lesson on treating the girls with respect? 1. He’s into Madonna, so he doesn’t need to be converted. 2. He’s NOT treating the girls like garbage. Teacher of the year indeed.
“I think we’re gonna need a new baritone cause Finn would like to become Finnessa”
“My growing feminism will cut you in half like a righteous blade of equality.”
Kurt mentions he’s an honorary girl. Again, WHY is he a part of this lesson?
AW. It just broke my heart a little that Tina said to Artie “why would you propose when you don’t even like me?” Aw. Poor Tina.
Alright, I admit, I love that whoever wrote this ep finally ended this nonsense with Finn being all pissed at Rachel for dating Jesse like she did something wrong and made him realize why she was even single to be pursued by Jesse in the first place. Kudos…whoever you are cause they didn’t credit the writer or director on this ep (the fuck?).
“Sing off. The parking lot. 5:00. Be there.” “No…”
“Frankly, I need you. I’m tired of carrying the male vocals all by myself.” Oh, FUCK. YOU. Finn! (I say on behalf of Kurt, Artie, and Puck).
Kurt just sang his first itty bitty solo in Glee club and then before Mercedes starting singing he ran up and gave her a peck on the cheek. Oh my God, I love them.
Gospel choir. So. Effing. Random. Yet so. Effing. EPIC.
SOLOS: Rachel (4), Mercedes (3), Finn (3), Emma (1), Santana (1), Will (1), Jesse (1), Kurt (2)
