#the gibson remake is okay it just lacks so much that makes EOD what it is

I fuckin LOVE Edge of Darkness it's genuinely some of the most amazing television I've ever seen. Just. Everything. I keep buying it for people on DVD to try to get them to watch it. Which has worked at least once, hooray! That's why me and England-Besty bought headlamp thingies in Asda one night "so we can pretend we're going into the tunnels under Northmoor." And the music's great too (even though Clapton is a fash these days, isn't he?) and the use of Willy Nelson's Time of the Preacher is PERFECT, and and and. That thing Jedburgh does with the plutonium at Gleneagles. Pendleton and Harcourt. "No one dances like the British, they deserve the Falklands." The slow train of death. The story of the black flowers. There's a lot of fucked up stuff in it (the possibly-incest subtext for a start) but it's also like. So good. One of the few pieces of BBC drama to get increased ratings on it's repeat, BTW. I picked it up on DVD many years ago because I'd seen it talked about in Cult TV circles and was Intrigued. "It's a thriller about a policeman whose daughter is murdered" is accurate but also not.

(Also yes that is the guy who says "Clever girl..." and gets killed by velociraptors in Jurassic Park.)
