I genuinely think these designs are as close to perfect as you can get for adapting Jim Davis' drawings into CG. I say "close to perfect" because Odie's eyes are nauseating

Take a well known "chubby" character with some sort of Italian quality to his image

Decide to make a live action/CGI movie about him that ultimately leaves mixed tastes in the mouths of the fanbases for a multitude of reasons better explained by them

Eventually a more "faithful to source" completely animated film came around in 202X where he is voiced by Chris Pratt and the title follows The [insert franchise name here] Movie structure

Major major major seizure warning for the new Garfield movie. There are several instances of the screen flashing black and white for 3-5 seconds throughout the movie. I can't give exact times but just be very careful if you're photosensitive and thinking about seeing it.
