What are some aspects of MLP G2 & TF G2 that could be attributed to Second Installment Weirdness?

G2 Transformers having the tagline "This isn't your father's Autobot".

G1 Transformers ran from 1984 to 1990 and G2 Transformers ran from 1992 to 1994 so. Yeah. I agree it was unlikely that EITHER of those included "your father's Autobot", lol.

G2 MLP didn't strike me as particularly weird, just kind of mediocre. I guess the weirdest part to me is that nearly all of them have monochrome symbols. They spent all that money making new accessories but they couldn't add a little more paint? Take the paint off the freakin accessory that kids will lose in five minutes and put it on the pony!
