The time is here, and oh man, do I have a lot to say! Ever since this post was posted on my personal tumblr, on the fifth of may, I have been working like a machine on all things OUROBOROS. I had originally planned for this to just be a progress report/ announcement on what I will be working on now that I am free of the shackles of work, but, somehow, I managed to finish all bullet points, and more. So, let's get into it!

First off, the title.  Ouroboros becomes all capitalized OUROBOROS. Idk. It's neat. Next!

Art. Whew. I didn't think I could draw like this anymore- drawing has been more of a struggle than writing has been, forever, always- it was something I really strived to become good at, for a time. And I gave up. Only to pick it up again when I started ouro, and ever since I released that pressure, something just clicked and I have been churning out art like never before. I don't know if this is a fluke, a stroke of luck or if all that hard work I once did slaving away with menial art practice… but I'm grateful nonetheless. (A note on official RO art: I lost my ipad pencil somewhere on the lawn, lmao. I haven't been able to get a new one yet, so there is a slight delay here.) I am hoping that I get to make some commissions too, in the near future. Visit the forum to see some works in progress (amongst them, Yor's RO portrait!)

Onto the hellscape that is coding! I have been growing more proficient with CSS and html with the help of the ones that run so that we can walk; I have studied and researched and tested and tinkered until my eyes crossed, finding my way into this medium with the incredible guidance of the giants of whose shoulders I stand on. I will talk about this in detail on a later date. So I think it's finally time to reveal that yes, I am working on a twine version of ouro. I will develop it in tandem with choicescript; the porting over from one to the other isn't the herculean task I thought it would be.

Why am I doing this? Because I need to have a save system. I am continuing to write the whole alpha draft in choicescript in hopes that CoG will announce the ability to have a native save/checkpoint system, but if that doesn’t happen, I can’t publish this story without one. Unfortunately, I am not willing to code in a savesystem in choicescript myself, because this will be a large game, with far too many variables for that to be sustainable. Trust me, no one is more disappointed by that fact than me. If it comes to the point that twine publishing will be what I do, I will set my sights on writing a smaller game for hosted games.

I worked together with the dev of the theme and made it oh, so pretty and functional. Discord!

By the good graces, this was ROUGH to set up. Working with discord bots is akin to wrangling code, and it was well and truly, a war. But with the help of many, it is finally all done and ready for anyone to join and talk to me and others about OUROBOROS and anything else between heaven and earth.

Yep! Ko-fi is just a place to toss me a coin if you wish to help me towards the goal of new PC parts to make testing easier, or to just show appreciation for those that have it to spare. Right now, there are only two tiers, but I expect it to grow as my story does. I have many plans, but I am going at a steady pace.

Onto writing:

The best news out of this whole bunch is that I have worked so hard on editing and writing, that in the past month I have all but finished a two chapter update! I have a chunk of about 5-6 thousand words left to write, and I am going to buckle down over the weekend to see it through. I wanted to have it done so badly for today, but I lost three days of writing time last week due to still being weighed down with work. I hope it isn’t too disappointing to have to wait until monday for the demo update! I am going to post a link to an as-I-write updated demo on Patreon and Discord, if you want to see the ugly face of raw wip drafts. Otherwise I will post the demo update here on Monday with a comprehensive post!

And now!  the biggest news is… from now on, I am writing full time!

This is what I have been tossing and turning about every night ever since Easter. It started as a silly idea while talking to some friends and family about how I was looking for a change in career. And then, little by little, that idea whittled down to a plan, carefully carved by my partner and his whispers of a happy future, a finished dream project, and something to be proud of until the day I wither and die. 

Somewhere between then and now, I grasped a tiny sliver of bravery and held on for dear life. 

I quit my job as a teacher, and instead of accepting a cushy office job, I started behaving as if OUROBOROS and writing was my work (for all the moments I could afford). I have researched and tried different methods from week to week, and although I was still tired from work, I felt like I was onto something that could build into a sustainable future. 

I have no doubts that this journey will be bumpy and long, but sometimes all it takes is to take that first step, and do it with determination. It might all crash and burn and fail in a spectacular way, or with a whimper, but then I will know that I have tried. I will know that I gave myself the chance to be who I want to be, work on what means so much to me. 

And that’s it. I think the hardest part of formulating this post (I’ve written about 50 versions of it!) is getting to the point; the kernel of what makes it so special to me. So, in my heart of hearts, what I'm trying to tell you is that I'm gonna give it my all- and while I know the road to having a sustainable career in writing is rough and ever winding, I do know for sure that I am ready for a challenge, to pour my heart and soul into it until the day I rush out of the office screaming IT IS DONE. IT IS DOOOOONE!!!

hi! I’ve seen some of your Renée posts and she’s beautiful! Do you have any info about her personality or lore? I’d love to read it and learn more, but if not, do you have a fun fact about her you’d want to share? 🩵

AHH! Thank you so much for asking 😭🩵 I do have a lot of things to talk about Renée. But, I don't want to spoil too much, since I have mutuals on here that are connected to a Discord Server I'm in (hi guys, if you see this post 👋😊). But, I can definitely tell you about her personalities, small background, and facts about her!

SPOILERS FOR MY MUTUALS UNDER THIS LINE!!

Background:

So, there's 2 versions of Renée: Human Renée and Angel Renée. Angel Renée came first, created by the Archangels and The Lord Himself. I have a drawing of Angel Renée being created :D

Anyway- each of the Archangels gave Angel Renée a little bit of their powers and she came to life! Yay!

Now, where did Human Renée come in? She came in a few years later, but on the same day (September 21st). Human Renée is a soul (kinda, I'm not sure how to explain it well, since I'm still working on Human Renée's story) that got put inside of Angel Renée to supposedly develop emotions. But, both of the Renée's souls fought over the body and who gained control. So, one of the Archangels - Uriel - had the idea of making these magical bracelets to surpress one of them! That, being Angel Renée. She still doesn't like the idea that some other soul gotten to control her body, but she learned to accept it.

Skipping a few more years later, Renée both learned about using Angelic abilities (healing, light magic, holy magic, ect.), weaponry, and how to share their body. Somewhere along those lines, there was another war in Heaven.

I can't go into full detail about what happened next, for spoilers with my mutuals, and it'll ruin the roleplay, BUT!! Renée eventually went down to France - specifically Notre Dame during the ending of Black Plauge - and started helping everyone as a doctor! (And hiding from a special someone).

Personalities:

"I am Drew. I am Danny. And we're not the same person!" That's them. So, to help better separate the two of them. I'm gonna use emojis 🩵🤍

Angel Renée(🤍): She's stricter, more serious, and maybe even a bit bossy, too. But, she does it all for the sake of protection, safety, and going what she's been taught by, religiously. She may have a cold heart also, Angel Renée does have a soft spot for certain things.

Human Renée(🩵): She's the sweet, gentle, caring person that (wants) to look over EVERYONE. everyone's troubles and issues are HER responsibility. Renée is willing to sacrifice her own mentality and health to make sure everyone else's lives are 10 times better than hers. She would do ANYTHING for you. Is it unhealthy? Yes. Is she aware of this? Also, yes. Does she care? Not really, only you! Renée is the one that has the most emotions. She's emotional and sensitive about certain things.

Random Facts:

(Human Renée (🩵)):

•Renée's last name is Rose! She gave herself this name because she loves roses, and her favorite holiday is Valentine's Day.

•Her favorite food is bread, a bonus of there's nuts in them.

•She also loves sweets, a sweet tooth even.

•She haves dimples! But only if it's a genuine smile.

•Haves a fear of snakes (Ophidiophobia)

•Renée stays away from apple pies, apple butter, apple cakes, and anything that's apple related. (An apple a day keeps the doctor away!)

•She does have healing abilities. But, she can only access them unless Renée(🤍) gives her permission to.

•Renée(🩵) was "born" underneath a blue moon - same as Renée(🤍), yet again, same dates but different years.

•Both Renée's zodiac sign is a Virgo! ♍️

•Doesn't need to eat or drink because of Renée(🤍), but does need sleep.

•Omnisexual! Though she perfers women!

•She can feel people's pains, especially if she likes, close, or knows of. Even if they're away or not in the same room. This is also how she can help her patient's problems.

(Angel Renée (🤍)):

•She haves scars all over her body. I'm working in a full (updated) design for her!

•Her eyes are made of sea glass (soft blue).

•She rarely smiles, despite her having a beautiful one.

•She can erase Renée's(🤍) memory at any given time - especially if it's something that she shouldn't know about yet.

•Whenever the bracelets are worn, she doesn't have control of her body anymore. Only Renée(🩵) controls the body. Renée(🤍) can still hear, see, feel, and use her powers willingly.

•She misses Heaven and talking to the Archangels.

•The color of her aura represents Michael(blue) and Gabriel(white): blue, warrior, and protector, white, a messanger, and holiness.

•Her original design was supposed to be a succubus. But, I changed it because I didn't like it, and I couldn't fit it into Renée's(🩵) plot hole.

•Perfers using spears and bows, but she can use other weapons if needed.

•She doesn't need to eat, drink, or sleep in order to survive. She also doesn't lose energy/stamina.

•Omnisexual and Asexual

Why not call it Rinch Week? It started out as Rinch Fest on The Rinch Loft on Discord, and that's what stuck.

Plus, Rinch Fest and Reese & Finch share the same initials.

What’s allowed? Complete fanworks focusing on Harold Finch and John Reese in a romantic relationship with each other. Fic, art, vids, remixes, sequels, you name it! No length requirements, no style requirements, all ratings allowed—do what you want!

Anything not allowed? Works where Finch/Reese is not the primary romantic relationship (additional ships are fine), works that are incomplete at the time of posting, and remixes or other transformative works for other people's fanworks that are done without the original creator’s permission. Anything else is fair game, as long as it’s labeled.

Also, don’t be a jerk.

What about [insert controversial topic here]? Can I make something with x?/OMG someone made something with x! Anything else is fair game, as long as it’s labeled. This includes works featuring tropes and kinks that you may not like or approve of. As long as it’s warned for, it’s fine and allowed.

Please warn for the usual AO3 warnings (Major Character Death, Graphic Violence, Rape/Non-Con, and Underage) and any subjects others may find deeply unpleasant, and clearly label any NSFW works.

What do I do with x prompt?/Can I do [insert concept here]? Anything goes! Seriously, however you want to interpret a prompt is fine. Retirement could be happy retirement for the guys, it could be John still grappling with the CIA’s version, or something else. Pets/Animals could be Bear or a new pet, John petting Harold's hair or belly or booty, someone turning into an animal, or something else. Kids could be human children (born or unborn) or goat children. Dark could be dark concepts or literal darkness or something else. Your choice!

Do I have to make something for every prompt? No! You can if you want, but it’s not required. Feel free to skip days, combine prompts, create multiple fills for each day, anything! This is as flexible as it gets.

If it fits multiple prompts, when do I post it? Whatever day works best for you!

What if I want to do something NSFW for another prompt? Do I have to wait until Day Six to post it? Nope!

What about a multi-chapter/piece thing where each chapter fulfills one day’s prompt? When do I post that? Post an update each relevant day until you’re done! (Just make sure you can finish it by the end of the event.)

What if it doesn't fit a prompt? That's what Day 7 is for! :D

What if I need to post my fill(s) on a different day? Life happens. The AO3 collection is set to Unrevealed, so I can reveal early submissions on the right day, but if that doesn't work for you, I'm sure we can work something out.

Can I work on a previously-posted WIP? As long as it’s finished when you make your post for the event, sure! If you're just updating a WIP without finishing it, no.

Can I start working now? Absolutely! That's why I'm announcing it now—so there's plenty of time for people to make things.

Can I talk about/share previews of what I’m working on? Sure!
