Knowing what sizes to chop different vegetables so they can all go into the pot and cook in the same amount of time isn't a type of witchcraft but it feels like it should be.
#harrowhark nonagesimus told me to write this post#also the secret to a really good lentil soup is 1. use red lentils and french lentils in a 2:1 ratio and 2. add a potato#the french lentils hold their shape and give you the satisfaction of feeling like you're eating a lentil#the potato breaks down and gives the liquid a better mouthfeel than plain red lentils which i think are too gritty alone#red lentils when they disintegrate want to sediment at the bottom of the container but the potato helps keep them suspended#cooking
