Pitch Feedback

So with my pitches i like to keep them minimal. I would rather have no text on the screen so that nobody reads a read because then they will not listen to me.

Here are my slides i presented:

1) Of course, just the title page. Found this photo online which i thoguht suited the theme of the presentation and just looked good.

2) Choosen Brief. Like said above, i did not want to put bullet points on this slide because i feel as if i can describe the brief better then somebody reading it.

3) It is important to show what work i have done before because it shows my audience that i am more then capable to produce what i am pitching. (Espeically since we had Chris Thomas in the class writting notes aswell, and he hasnt seen any of our work really - good to show him what i can do)

4) Mind map for my first ideas. Need to show development within the pitch to make sure that they know that i have looked into other ideas and have done a bit of research. My mind map here basically looks into what dreams and nightmares are and other related things such as deja vu. Also looking into different ways to store the dreams.

 5)  My first ideas that were actaully thought out. Idea 1 was to have dream boxes. the dream box could look really beuatiful and girly, whereas the nightmare box could be locked up with chains and locks. 

Idea 2 was a dream journal. Having one bit book that somebody writes their dreams and nightmares in every morning before they wake up.

My last idea was actually an idea Joe gave me. Having jars with fairy dust and magic inside on a shelf. The dream ones will look magical, alive and just fairy like whereas the nightmare ones will have dense dust on the floor which is grey and like fairy dust will be little skulls or something.

6) My final idea. I wantted to live it blank like this so that the audience i presenting to is intrigued and listens to me.

I spoke about why i decided to go for this idea. I choose this idea just because there is so much more research out there for me to make it look believabilty (which is kinda my theme?). 

8) My colour scheme. I really enjoy portraying a different palette for my colour scheme - not just colours. I love these because of the contrast between the bright lights and the darkness. Looking at the middle picture, i can really imagine the purply blue colours to be my clouds in the unicorn dream and maybe the light blur / white for th eunicorn.

9) Just basically exampling how important particals are in my project. Just to give it some depth and show that it isnt just 2D, it is in the reeal world.

10) Nightmares. Just some images i found about nightmares

11) Photos i found when i typed in dreams to google. pointing out the reaccuring images of flaoting stuff and unicorns.

12) Dream journals, just showing them what sort of journals i will be looking at and explaining that the one with the gem in, I could play with having particals and magic in it.

14) So i didn’t really have time to draw a proper storyboard + i didnt have the other ideas so i quickly drew a sketch of my idea in order to kinda give them a bit of an idea. Once again i did not want to give too much imformation away otherwsie the audience will not listen to what i have to say.

16) Because i am not a 3D person, i wantted to show them that i have actually already done some of the 3D work, making the unicorn its self.

THE FEEDBACK:

The feedback I got given from Jason and Chris was so helpful. They were not happy that I didn’t have a storyboard, however because i explained what i was doing and the shots, they were not too mad. 

They also said not to do the other 2 dreams, just focus on the 1 unicorn on. Quailty over Quanity. This just makes my life so much easier because i can focus so much more on the one dream and make it perfect. Its super important that i focus on the small details aswell.

They also said that i need to have a really girly location. They doubt that my bedroom will not good enough, so i need to make sure that i decorate it enough to be girly.

So Jason has sent out an email explaining that he will give us another week to get our pitches better and resubmitt.

What i did was add in addition slides which i did explain in my pitch, but since i will not presenting this new pitch, i neeed all my information written down.

La Concordia

From a tiny hotel room with a fan blowing full blast towards me as I lay on my bed I report to you, whoever you are reading this. Sometimes I wonder who is really reading this. It feels like I just spew off the cuff and then send out my transmition into the infinite void of the internet. Not expecting to hear anything back but wonder maybe someone out there is recieving my messages far away.The sole reason of writing everyday for me is documentation. I dont tend to leave out details, I just write the daily events and exactly what I am thinking and feeling.

Today was an amazing day of riding. Dont think I could ask for anything better of the weather, scenery, or road conditions. It felt good, infact it felt too easy. Im too used to pot holes and rain to get too comfortable with these conditions. Being in Ecuador the weather can change so drastically with the drop of a hat that you cant get used to anything, always be on your toes and youll never be dissapointed.

I am 200km West of Quito in La Concordia, a small city with nothing to particularly praise except it has a hotel and a bed for this weary traveller which is always welcome. The morning was quite normal in Machachi, overcast like usual it looked like it was going to rain but as I drove West and as the day progressed it became sweltering hot. I dont know if this is normal as I keep moving towards the Pacific but after five hours of solid riding through gorgeous mountain ranges I was completely exhausted. The type of exhausted that scares you how exhausted you were when you awake two hours later, it was strange.

I covered a lot of ground today and so it seems my projected time frame of a week to finish this loop of West Ecuador will be even shorter. So what is the logical thing to do in moments like this? I merely extended the loop. My goal is Ushuia, Argentina but make no mistake about it I am in no rush.

Oh ya a cool thing happened yesterday after writing the last update about being stranded in Machachi. My hotel was right next to a huge farmers market selling tons and I mean tons of Vegetables, fruits, eggs, everything and everything was extraordinarily cheap. I got bananas, oranges, a big package of yogurt and granola solo packs, leche nuts, weird small peaches but werent peaches things, and on top of all that the market had an entire row like a food court of home cooked meals I tried to eat something from all. I had soup from one with a chicken thigh in it, then I had rice with beats and veggies and chicken topped with some great sauce at another, then some fresh bread and a hot juice that came from some purply fruit but still tasted great at another. Machachi didnt turn out as bad as I thought it would. Of course I cant post the photos.

I am enjoying eating simple food at food vendors that are typically outside and much cheaper than restaurants. I have always enjoyed these as they are in every country but I havent eaten at them this frequently. They are the only place it seems to get simple healthy meals. Today I was an inch from caving in and getting a pizza here in La Concordia for $6.00 but now I know really how much $6.00 can get me so I went to one of these food vendors. I asked how much his soup was he said $1.00 I was sold. Then he offered rice I said “sure”, then lemonade I said “go for it”. After all of it I asked Quanto Questa? How much? $4.00. WHAT? Absolutley absurd. I get paying the gringo price but come on. He wouldnt back down so I paid the man. What else was there to do? But I won by winning the inner battle and not caving to the pizza.

So that was my exciting day. Tomorrow we continue. My bike is having trouble starting with the auto electric start in the mornings, this started yesterday. I assume its the battery. For whatever reason this bike I have is impossible to turn off the head light when running maybe thats whats draining it. I just use the manual turn on kicker so its not an issue yet.
