new fontaine character names and possible pronunciations

i know genshin loves to butcher names from around the world so who actually knows what they'll go with for these, especially since they're already diverting from my guess for lyney, but let's go:

Freminet — my guess is "FREH-mih-nay" but there's a chance they ditch french pronunciations entirely and go for "FREH-mih-nett"

Egeria — either "Eh-JZEHR-ee-uh" or "Eh-DJEER-ee-uh," but the first is way prettier

Lyney — it was pronounced "LINN-ee" in the overture teaser, but the french way would be more like "Lih-NAY"

Lynette — also pronounced in the overture, pretty straightforward in french or english "Lih-NETT"

Navia — "NAH-vya" but might go "Nah-VEE-uh" instead

Charlotte — already pronounced from the event she was in last, also straightforward "SHAR-lot"

Wriothesley — no fuckin clue. "RIZZ-lee" was one put forth online, or it could be "REE-ohz-ley" or "RYE-oh-thez-lee"--it's just choose your number of syllables fun!

Sigewinne — another idek, but i have guesses! probably, they'll go with a very english-sounding "SIG-uh-win," but maybe they'll do "SIG-u-veen" or "ZIG-uh-VIN-uh"

Clorinde — "Kloh-ROND" would be more french, but they might stick with "Klor-REEND" which :/ (let's be real, the fandom's gonna call her chlorine)

"The Knave" Arlecchino — Knave is straightforward (cave but with an N), but Arlecchino is "AR-luh-kee-no" for those not already in the know

Furina — "Fur-EEN-uh" or "Foo-REEN-uh" which is honestly a negligible difference if you say it fast enough, but they might switch up the emphasis with "FUR-in-uh" or smth

Neuvillette — "NOO-vill-ett" easy peasy!

So this is “The Final Feast”… Interlude PV huh… I’ve seen screenshots of it so I’m not surprised, but hm… I thought Furina & Neuvillette would get some more moments. Neuvillette does seem colder than he is in this one because of the artstyle. I’m surprised at how androgynous Arrelecchino’s voice is in Mandarin though? Her design with the jacket and suit is quite cool with the silver tones and spots of red. Mm… The inner vest is reminiscent of Diluc “Red Dead of Night” outfit. Lyney’s voice is lower than I thought, too. I love the visual effects in the section where Clorinde shoots the screen.

lyney is talking about magic, but with the implication of an epidemic of memory loss in fontaine, this might have another meaning.

what happens when people can no longer rely on their minds, their recollections, their past to make decisions? what else is left, then, if not the present moment - if not what they can only see with their own eyes.

if you don't remember the functions that create the show, then you become part of it. without that recollection, you can only see to believe.

people who've lost their ideals. their values. their principles. people who can only rely on what is being shown. people who can no longer make proper judgements and, thus, depend on intelligent machinery to give the final ruling in any serious matter.

and what happens when the show is altered? the machinery tampered with?

and wouldn't that, then, be so easy a way to corrupt a nation?

if the important people do not remember why they are important, then they are just actors.

if they are being controlled or influenced by someone else, then they are puppets. false images of what they represent. props meant to instill artificial hope and security in the populace.

but, they can't help it. everything they ever know is only in the now. anything else, whether by human dependence or divine interference, has long been forgotten.

in fontaine, seeing is believing.

but when the only things people see may not even be real (the lyney & lynette props)...how can they not believe a lie?
