Write an alternative ending to PODG (or just the summary of one).
**TPODG spoilers ahead**
***
In this alternate ending (which yes was almost the ending but I decided against it), the intruder was a different person. The same scene happens with Gra, Damon, and him in the bedroom. The intruder is extremely angry, and has something very personal against Damon. He hates him.The intruder wants to shoot Damon but when it comes to the moment to do it, he can't. He drops the gun and Graham leaps forward to grab the gun. He lifts it and points it at the stranger.
Damon screams at him from behind, “Don’t shoot him!”
Graham, scared and shaking, pulls the trigger anyway, shooting the stranger in the shoulder. The stranger falls to the ground, and Damon lunges toward him, screaming no over and over again. He yells at Graham to call for help.
Graham, confused and scared, still doesn’t understand. He watches Damon hover over the stranger’s body. He removes the mask from his face, revealing a young man with dark hair and brown eyes he doesn’t entirely recognize, but when Damon sees him he bursts into tears.
The man, keeps saying the same thing to Damon: “I hate you. I hate you. Why?” And Damon keeps apologizing over and over, telling him he has every right and begging Graham to call for help NOW because otherwise he’s going to bleed out on their floor.
Graham leaves the room to call an ambulance, and Damon hugs the injured stranger to his chest. He presses a hand to his shoulder, trying to stop the bleeding from the bullet wound.
Meanwhile, the stranger is staring at Damon, eyes in tears, but with a look of resentment.
Graham calls the police and when he returns to the bedroom he sees both of them talking quietly. Damon is visibly upset. Finally Graham, confused and perturbed, asks Damon, “who is he?”
The stranger turns to Damon, hurt, and says, “You didn’t tell him?”
Damon turns to Graham with pain in his eyes and says, “this is Jude.”
**
Jude never died. Which, if you notice the only one who ever mentions Jude ever dying is Graham. The entire accident scene does not show Jude’s death, only what we see before we assume he dies. He doesn’t die, but instead is in a coma for seven years. After waking up, he spends the next three tears trying to piece together his memory of what happened before the car accident. However, because of his extensive memory loss and comatose hallucinations, he only remembers Damon and his relationship in the way the media portrays it: Jude being taken advantage of a child predator.
Finally, after two years he decides to seek out Damon to try and deal with his trauma, and when he finally finds him he sees Damon and Graham together. This sickens him and only further feeds his thought Damon just takes advantage of young boys. His hatred for Damon grows, even though he still feels like he’s in love with him. His jealousy is mixed with disgust and resentment for losing those seven years of his youth because of Damon. He feels disgust for himself for being in love with someone who purportedly abused him, and then forgot about him. So he makes a plan to blackmail Damon, to even try and kill him, just so he can process what’s been done to him. But he can’t, because he still loves Damon, and seeing Damon with Graham drives him mad.
Jude ends up being taken to the hospital and living. Damon and Graham are shaken, and Damon reconsiders Jamie’s words about making the same mistake again. Graham becomes jealous and fearful that maybe Damon will leave him for Jude, now that he’s awake again. Damon tries to patch things up with Jude, explaining what really happened and reconnecting with him, but it’s a difficult process, made even more difficult by his love for Graham and the fact that Jude still loves him too.
This stress of possibly losing Damon drives Graham mad, and eventually he breaks down. Damon finds him, and when realizing how Graham feels, pulls him into his arms and tells him he loves him. When Graham asks Damon if he’s going to leave him for Jude, now that he’s back, Damon gets very quiet. He tells Graham that there’s only one person in his life who he wants to be with, and that he made that decision a long time ago.
Graham, thinking that Damon means he wants to stay with Jude, starts to cry and Damon asks him why.
Graham says, “because you just told me it’s over.”
And Damon, smiling sadly, shakes his head and says, “I meant you.”
**
Initially this is where I was going with the original ending and I decided against it because I didn’t like Jude being left alone like that. I also felt like I didn’t want to do another aha moment for the audience (with Jude not being dead). I felt like it was counter to the pain and guilt Damon felt, to cheat Jude of a real death and also make him more a victim (he’s suffered enough! lol).
What I really wanted was a way for Damon to make peace with his past, while moving forward with Graham, and that’s what I chose the ending that’s in the original. But I struggled with this for a long time because there were elements of it I liked (i.e. the coma, memory loss, having to choose between Jude or Gra), which I ended up including in the original ending.
When I started TPODG I really didn’t think there was anyway to end it with Gra and Damon being together, so I think that’s why my mind went down this route. But I’m glad that I chose the happier ending instead. I think it made Damon and Jude’s character arcs stronger and it wasn’t one of those twist endings. So yes, I realize writing it out now how not good of an ending that is, albeit an emotional one—so please don’t rub it in, but yeah for those who asked there you go. :-)

Jamion OTP Prompts
@eviljaffafish Ahh, I had not been asked, and I’m so glad you did! They are my secret ship and I love them dearly (don’t tell Graham). All of these recent Jamion reunion quotes have been killing me too. xx
3. Who hogs the cover/ Who loves to cuddle? Damon is the one who loves to cuddle. He is constantly vying for Jamie’s attention because he thinks Jamie always acts too cool and sexy for him and he wishes he could be like that. Jamie hogs the covers because he knows that if he doesn’t Damon will kick all of them off the bed in the middle of the night when he’s having his weekly nightmare about Alex dragging him along to perform on the reality tv program Pop Star to Opera Star.
Also because blankets will mysteriously go missing throughout the week, Jamie has relegated Damon to only be able to sleep in the Snuggies his mum sends him for every year for Christmas.
4. Who wakes the other one up with kisses? Jamie is the early bird, so Damon doesn’t often get a chance to kiss him. Jamie doesn’t usually like to kiss unless he’s been drinking a lot, but he loves to draw quick sketches of Damon in the morning sleeping in very unflattering poses on the bed with his mouth open and his bits hanging out, and then leave them posted on the bedside table for Damon to find when he wakes up—usually with a little title underneath that says “my sleeping beauty”
8. Who sleeps in their underwear (or naked)/ Who sleeps in their pajamas? Jamie sleeps in his briefs. Damon sleeps in nothing, but only because Jamie is disgusted by the fact that Damon only washes his underwear once a week (this is true, look it up) and he refuses to sleep next to that sort of filth.
9. Who makes the coffee (or tea)? Damon makes the tea usually. But sometimes on days that Damon is particularly sassy/domineering, Jamie will offer to make Damon tea and then purposely give him instant coffee instead, just so that he can hear Damon curse loudly from the other side of the house when he finally takes a sip.
20. Who is dominant/ Who is submissive? Jamie, surprisingly, is the dominant one. Damon, despite all his domineering in daily life, loves to be submissive around Jamie because when Jamie finally does get in the mood he always gets what he wants and he always makes Damon work for it. ;)
23. Who asks who out on the first date? Damon. Damon’s idea of asking Jamie out on a first date was baking a Romero-themed ‘Dawn Of The Damon’ cake that said ‘Dying To See You’ in really bad handwriting (he thought Jamie would find his clever wordplay funny—surprise, he didn’t) and turning up to Jamie’s 40th birthday costume party dressed like a ‘sexy’ zombie, introducing himself to all of Jamie’s friends by saying, ‘pleased to eat you.’
Needless to say, Damon’s public gesture and bad dad jokes did not go over well with Jamie. However, after Jamie stopped bickering and Damon washed off, they did have lots of fun with Jamie’s vampire costume later. ;)
