EDIT: I've edited some points because I've watched the trailer more and understand things a bit better! So reread if you want!
So loved the trailer but I don't really feel like doing an in-depth analysis like I did for the teaser, so I'll just point out some things that I thought were interesting!
1. Stede is adorable and looks great in his outfits, I love his "I didn't dump him," and "we're on a break." I also love how it seems like people around Stede are teasing him about his rocky relationship. And on that note I'm SO EXCITED to see how Stede tells the crew (or maybe just Olu?) about what happened on the beach!
2. Ed is equally adorable and I love the hint that he'll be a total bitch to Stede for a while lol
3. Izzy is missing half his left leg! Huh. I know people speculated it but it's cool to have confirmation! The missing toe must have gotten infected. I wonder if that will play a part in Izzy realizing he made a mistake in bringing Blackbeard back.
4. Stede saying he's been a failure his whole life really hurts my heart
5. There's a scene of Stede in his Chinese garb looking horrified at what the Revenge looks like. This must be after the storm damaged it. Poor guy
6. Izzy and Stede training together! Love to see it. I'm excited to maybe have a reason to like Izzy more and see Stede become better at... well a lot of things lol
7. STEDE EARRING STEDE EARRING I wonder who pierces his ear, I hope they show it haha
8. Ed standing on the rocks with what people have speculated to be Hornigold, or his ghost, I wonder what the context of that scene is
9. There's the bunny from the poster! (Note Ed says "new best friend," hinting Stede isn't his bestie anymore aw). I wonder if this is from Ed's island days or maybe when he's trying to figure himself out again (aka the trying something new scene?)
10. What kind of wound does stede have on his shoulder when he's tied to the mast? Doesn't seem to be a stab wound, it's more of a hole. Bullet perhaps? Hot cigar burnt into his skin?
11. Seems like the "torture" scene may be comical after all? It looks like Jim is smiling?
12. In the scene where they're on the "torture" boat, seems like before the "torture" happens, Stede is smiling! Good to see him happy for a moment, since pretty much every other scene he hasn't smiled lol
13. Who is this weird-nosed character? Is he the villain of the season? Seems like he's leading the Navy officers, so probably.
14. WEE JOHN LOOKS SO GOOD IN DRAG OMG WHAT A QUEEN
15. Jim and Olu are together again awwww
16. Why is Stede running along the shore? Is he running to someone? Ed perhaps?
17. Yeah that headbutt from Ed was definitely on purpose 😂 But we love to see bedside vigil worried Stede! Is this where they officially reunite?
18. LOOK AT SWEDE THERE HE ISSS BABYGIRLL (so is he one of Jackie's husband's now?? I'm excited to see the story of how he ended up working at Jackie's lol) Also his little "are you poor now?" is so funny
19. I love how Ed sputters after taking a puff of the joint or cigar or whatever it is, shows that he's not used to it lol
20. The Ed crying scene probably happens around the same time that the painted cake topper scene does, since we see the bride topper in the right corner. Also I really want Stede to find the cake toppers (or at least Ed's if Ed throws the groom overboard)
21. When Ed says "no more booze, no more drugs, and no more" the "Stede" at the end is clearly not from that same line. So I wonder what he actually says at the end?
22. What are Stede and crew escaping from during the crossbow scene? I've watched the trailer again and I think they're firing the crossbow for the zip line rope! And they're escaping from a ship to the Revenge. I hope Stede gets to shoot the crossbow!
23. The "you two know each other?" scene must come around the same time that Stede reunites with Ed after Ed is hurt, since Ed has the same split lip. Or maybe the headbutt scene comes after that? I'm not sure. I would bet that the headbutt scene is first.
24. Why are Jim and Olu and that other person warding off vampires lol
25. We finally see a glimpse of Lucius!! In the scene where he and Frenchie are under a log. He has a beard now! We definitely know it's him becouse of the wooden finger. Yay the boy is back! Can't wait to see how he survived and the Lucius x Black Pete reunion!!
Anyways that's all, I'm even more excited for the new season now and I hope we get a clip or two or more photos! But we only have 3 weeks left guys hang in there!!!

ANALysis and THEORIES- OFMD EDITION #1
Objective: PROMO GIFS
Time to analyse these bad boys, because I think I may have figured out what they are. They're lines from the show. Each individual little subtext to the official gifs are something which someone will say in the new season, and I'm determined to find out what, when, where and who (I determine that 3/4 would equal success).
I) "I've never seen Blackbeard like this."
This is the same shot from the trailer, possibly either before or after the infamous "Fuck you, Stede Bonnet." However, there may be a Clue in the second shot which may be able to somehow place this on a timeline (not by myself—this has drained my powers). I can't really tell, because of the low quality and high contrasting shadows, whether or not the side of the Stede topper has been smudged with Ed's make-up yet.
It was clear in the teaser when Ed played with the toppers that he'd caressed fake-Stede against his cheek as if he were some rather exquisite cashmere because of the smudges, but we couldn't tell during the teaser if this has already happened by this point because of the angle of the toy. But if anyone manages to get a better picture or spots something I missed that may contradict or strengthen this little thought, do let me know.
I'm pretty sure though that the person who says "I've never seen Blackbeard like this," is someone who has seen Blackbeard enough to know how he was. Someone that perhaps served by his side? So I think that the speaker in this context may be Izzy. There are two options of who he's saying this too: either Stede, once they team up, or to the crew of the Queen Anne's Revenge, this being the old Revenge crew (Frenchie, Jim, and we count Fang). Maybe even Lucius in the walls.
II) "I should have just told him how I feel."
I just want to take a moment just to appreciate the fact how much this gif resonated with me personally. This was the entire basis of all stages of grief I went through after the season finale, the bottomline of all my thoughts: "why couldn't he have just told him how he felt?". Brilliant delivery and shot planning from the designers of OFMD.
Anyways, let's get on with it. This gif is similar to the first one, in it having the potential of being also shot before or after the Vanity Fair picture with the crew (minus Swede) standing under the bridge(?) in the rain. I do think it's before the scene where Stede takes Blackbeard's poster and very confidently elaborates on Ed's goodness. He has his red cravat on, and is looking so pathetic in the rain looking at a wanted poster of his ex-boyfriend, that the scene is loveably laughable in it's entirety.
It's a bit obvious as to who is the speaker for this line: our very own Stede Bonnet. He's regretting on his actions back at the sailor academy, where he chose to keep quiet about his own opinions on Ed's willingness to leave to China, fast, because of his own deep-rooted issues with speaking up about what he thinks about serious, possibly life-chaning topics. Or maybe he's thinking of why he didn't tell anyone, especially not Ed, about the happiness he felt around him, how great he felt in his company, and how much love he felt for the man.
I can imagine this pretty early on in the season (as we know they reconcile or at least get a long decently early, from the leaked promo), and for some reason I have a picture of Stede laying slumped down on some form of furniture, ragdoll-style, whining about this to someone he knows: either Oluwande (probably the most probably option) or, hear me out, Spanish Jackie. I think she's going to become better friends with the Genital Pirate this season, and be a prevelant character to the narrative.
III) "Feel's like a storm's coming."
This happens during the rapid, quick scenes which we were just able to catch from the teaser. Where Jim is half submerged in water trying their best to reach for someone which I may think might be Ed, and Frenchie working the capstan for whatever purposes needed to hoist something heavy in a storm (don't look at me, I don't sail 18th-century ships). But look, Edward has his cravat on, the cravat given to him by Stede. Why he's kept this eludes me, since this should in theory be before their reconciliation, but we all know that Ed still loves Stede, and perhaps this is his way to hang onto him close to his heart while still matching his new aesthetic.
I would like to think that Ed is the one saying this. After all, he is an expert navigator and weatherman, proving his skills during his first appearances in the previous season. (However, I don't particularly trust his date-keeping skills. He messed up the first one, and then let his other date be held at gunpoint and scared into leaving. Tut tut tut) Another reason as to why I think this is because there is no pronoun indicating that he actively feels the storm, but more passed as a backhanded quip just thrown onto the crew and/or Izzy to alert them.
This could also be interpreted as a metaphor: symbolism for something, foreshadowing to the main plot or villain of the series, which will most likely result in some form of cliffhanger at the end, I tell you that.
I wonder if they're going to have another cloud scene though, talking about how they might show signs of storm. However, instead of shape I'd assume that they'd be commenting on a rather large-scale, dark rain-cloud, and connecting it to perhaps winds stronger than usual.
I also saw someone saying that it was possible that Edward, when he falls off the ship, looses the cravat amongst the waves, and that is why he doesn't have it to what I'd assume is after this scene.
IV) I love a good pirate's tale We can see from this scene that Stede is currently fighting on the beach in the same outfit which he had during the teaser, and if one looks closely you can see that he's excellently accessorised with a beautiful looped earring. However, what we've also learn is that the shot where Ed washes up on the beach is probably in the same scene as this, and by the look on Stede's face (probably augmented by the surrounding chaos) this may be the first time that he's seen Ed in a long time.
I think, as I've said before in previous posts, that Ed has been thrown off the ship in the storm mentioned above. He's been thrown off, and has happened to wash up on this same beach where Stede is fighting, which we know to be possible because of the automatic gaydar in OFMD. (What would be funny though is that he spotted Stede off the shore and decided to make his entrance super dramatic and kraken-like, but ends up just swallowing a shit ton of sea-water and gets his leather ruined, which is why he gets new clothes.)
Why he's fighting? I don't know. But I'm still sure that it's Ocracoke that they're on, because I'm convinced that it'll make an appearance this season—it has too, or else I will send in a formal complaint with our dearest Mr Jenkins.
Now, back to the main bit. The text. Who is it that says "I love a good pirate's tale?" I think that it's either said genuinely, but by someone like Stede, eager to hear about the adventures of experienced and famous seafaring pirates, OR flirtatiously, to insinuate something directed as a romantic quip to get Stede or someone else (a pirate) to talk more about himself. By who, I can't be sure, but I have a list of possible speakers:
Edward Teach
Spanish Jackie
Anne Bonny
Anne Bonny's campy friend
Lucius Spriggs
Stede Bonnet
If there's anything I've missed that you want me to add/change, which I find suitable, do tell.
I'm not sick at all. I'm a normal functioning member of society. I have a life.

A birthday list for August
25 years ago yesterday, my maternal grandmother died on a beautiful day on a farm hidden in the mountains of Virginia. A loss that was incredibly sad, yet at 11 years old was hard to grasp the enormity of. Four years ago yesterday, we buried my paternal grandmother in a sleepy town in the Pine Belt of Mississippi. A loss that was incredibly painful and deeply impacted my life. My love for both of my grandmothers has always been deep and they both have made an indelible mark on my life. What you don’t fully grasp at 11, at 32 you grasp more than you would like to grasp. And my paternal grandmother’s loss at 32 also brought about grief about having lost my maternal grandmother at 11 and realizing on a deeper level what I had missed. I do not have the words to accurately portray the importance of all four of my grandparents in my life. I am who I am because I have been deeply loved by wonderful people who have taught me so well. And for that, I am eternally grateful.
Today, is my birthday and I have made a list of some of my favorite things. As always, I hope that you enjoy this list and find something that you like. Have a wonderful weekend, and stay cool!
Favorite book(s) –
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy | Goodreads
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas | Goodreads
Favorite quotes (from said books) –
“You have a consistent character yourself and you wish all the facts of life to be consistent, but they never are. For instance, you despise public service because you want work always to correspond to its aims, and that never happens. You also want the activity of each separate man to have an aim, and love and family life always to coincide – and that doesn’t happen either. All the variety, charm and beauty of life are made up of light and shade.” Tolstoy
“Tell the angel who will watch over your future destiny, Morrel, to pray sometimes for a man who, like Satan, thought himself, for an instant, equal to God; but who now acknowledges, with Christian humility, that God alone possesses supreme power and wisdom. Perhaps those prayers may soften the remorse he feels in his heart. As for you, Morrel, this is the secret of my conduct towards you. There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, Morrel, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life. Live, then, and be happy, beloved children of my heart, and never forget, that until the day when God will deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is contained in these two words, - ‘Wait and hope.’” Dumas
Favorite songs (top 3) –

my current predictions for the billions season 7 timeline:
season premiere on sunday, june 4 (first sunday after succession season 4 finishes airing, and possibly also the first sunday after after yellowjackets season 2 finishes airing, if it has 10 episodes like season 1) (this would place the season finale on sunday, august 20, barring any skipped weeks within the season)
official season trailer on thursday, april 20 (45 days before june 4, equal to the gap between the season 5 official trailer on march 19, 2020 and premiere on may 3, 2020, and the gap between the season 6 official trailer on december 9, 2021 and premiere on january 23, 2022) (yes i know those trailers have both been deleted, but they were posted on tumblr the day of upload)
premiere date announcement on monday, february 13 (111 days before june 4, equal to the gap between the season 5 announcement on january 13, 2020 and premiere on may 3, 2020)
#i was more certain about these before the spinoff news but i still have faith that the Patterns will hold#even if the premiere date isn't june 5 i think the announcement and trailer drop will precede the premiere by those amounts of time#billions#also the fact that the s6 trailer Has been deleted (which i bet was relatively recent) suggests to me they're gearing up for s7 press

The Chosen: Season 4 Official Trailer
youtube
In my last post I mention the concern that I, as a Catholic Christian, have with the emergence of Christian Nationalism. I urged readers to view that documentary and be aware of the political danger that this ideology poses to both the Christian faith and the American political system. In that post I mentioned a thought by one of the doumentary's presenters who suggest that now is the best time for Christians to do a careful reassesment of scripture and the tradition (independent from the ideology of Christian nationalist preachers) and "to read those with fresh eyes and see what God’s teachings are, to look at the life of Christ."
I want to invite readers to do this by watching an Amazon Prime series that I found absolutely riveting and quite frankly, life giving. "The Chosen" is perhaps the greatest and most historically accurate depiction of the Jesus narrative. It has finally unseated the famous 1977 "Jesus of Nazareth" movie that up to now has been the only Jesus movie that did credit to the teachings, mission and foundation of the Jesus movement.
Fr. Casey will have some good comments of his own about the show and a critique that I share below. What I want to raise now is how powerful the depiction of Jesus and his disciples is as you see them take on human challenges and emotional struggles that many of us can identify with. You will see Simon Peter, Thomas, and Judas face the challenge of trying to make sense of Jesus and be a faithful disciple while having to accept pain, grief, and loss along the way. In season four you will find Jesus himself struggling with the disciples complete lack of understanding.
In Season 3 episode 8, "Sustenance", I was brought to tears with the struggle of Simon Peter in the famous moment where he tries to walk on water to encounter Jesus. Simon (not yet officially Peter) has much pent up anger in him as he reconciles with a very personal loss in the face of a miracle that Jesus performs for others. When you see the encounter as Jesus rescues him from drowning (simultaneously his wife, who is also struggling with the same loss, is going through her own purification ritual), you begin to see this biblical story as a moment of intense purification and forgiveness. Forgiveness is one of the most challenging precepts of Christianity and most of us will never understand the relational depth of what Jesus invites us to do for one another. In season 4 episode 4, "Calm Before", you also see Thomas struggling with his own loss while Peter (as he is now officially named) attempts to offer comfort and meaning. But what is equally powerful is seeing Jesus himself try to understand how his mission will have any relevance if his own disciples can't understand neither him, nor the mission. He reckons with the fact that his own disciples are culturally conditioned and limited in their vision. In episode 5 you see Judas struggling with the messianic mission and role as he idenitifes with both political power and economic profitability. Christians in America today can learn much from the Gospel narration offered in this series.
Let me share what Jesus says to Thomas who just witnessed the raising of Lazarus in Season 4, Episode 7 "The Last Sign", but had to recently endure the death of his own fiance.
Thomas: Why him, and not Ramah? Why not your own cousin, John? This is sick. Jesus: Thomas, I don't expect you to understand now, I don't. What the Father allows, what I allow, in order to bring about my Father's will and the faith and growth of His Church. It can be crushing for you... and yes even for me. Thomas: It's too much. It's too much. I don't understand. Jesus: I know... and that hurts my heart. But please, please stay with me Thomas. You'll understand in time.
The story of Jesus and his disciples closely follow the Gospel of Mark, the struggles of a very human Jesus, what theologians call a low Christology. It is in this type of Christology, a Christology where Jesus suffers with us and for us, where we see Jesus as both a wounded healer and a servant leader. The difficult questions of what it means to follow Jesus are offered in this narration and these are the questions that Christian Nationalist so desperately need to reflect on.
Fr. Casey offers further insights below.

If I did not admire Fr. Casey before I most certainly do now. He caught on the one annoyance that has bothered me about this otherwise amazing show. The two source hypothesis continues to be the best academic theory of how the Gospels were developed. Paul's letter to the Thessalonians is considered the first written document, written around 51 AD. Mark's gospel comes to us around 69 AD and then you have Matthew and Luke who both borrowed from Mark's Gospel and a missing document that we continue to call Q (quella). Those two Gospels are thought to have been written around 75 to 85 AD. John's Gospel is a seperate account that comes to us after 95 AD. What we see from Paul and Acts of the Apostles is that the Jesus story was passed on through an oral tradition, stories were told, Paul heard the story from Peter and that was how he was taught about Jesus. This seems to be how the movement initially grew until more learned individuals, starting with Paul, began to write down what they had heard. Based on what we know, It is more accurate to say that the Gospel of Matthew and John emerged from an oral tradition that claims to originate from a Matean and Johannine community (a community founded on Matthew and John's oral story).
Fr. Casey tells us why this is important for good Catholic theology.

Having pointed out this one shortcoming I invite everyone to please watch this series. It will help bring awareness of what the Christian message is all about. You will see that it has nothing to do with political power, economic profit, and cultural dominance. It has everything to do with being a wounded healer, a servant leader, and providing reconciliation to those who are hurt and charity to those in need.

Blog #3- David Cronenberg
David Cronenberg, a Canadian film maker was born in 1943, and is one of the most influential and famous body horror film directors in the film industry. He was born in Toronto, Canada and he is even known as the godfather of body horror. His father, Milton Cronenberg, was a journalist and an editor, and his mother, Esther Cronenberg was a pianist. He came from a very artistic household and that influenced his early interest in literature and the arts. Cronenberg attended the University of Toronto and originally studied biochemistry. However, he switched to English Literature. Even though he didn’t study biochemistry for too long it became a central theme in many of his films. Croneberg also shaped the sub-genre and influenced many other directors. His films show grotesque body transformations and infectious diseases. He is most known for his films “Shivers”(1975), “Scanners”(1981), “Videodrome”(1985), and the “Fly”(1986). In the article, “David Cronenberg: The Voyeur of Utter Destruction” by the Columbia Library the author states, “David Cronenberg began his career by making B horror films but later transcended the genre, creating gruesome, highly physical melodramas. One of the ways he has made this transition so smoothly is through the motif of sadomasochism, in which violence is directed at an objectified female. In watching Cronenberg films like Videodrome, Crash, Dead Ringers, and A History of Violence, it is easy to interpret one’s horror as an indication of the director’s offensive ideology”(Goldberg, D. N., 2008). David Cronenberg is known for some of his lower budget films, and he showed the world that you don’t need to have a very expensive budget to create a great horror film. His earlier films, such as “Stereo”(1960) and “Crimes of the Future”(1970), were made with very few resources but showcased his innovative approach to narrative and his fascination with psychological themes. His films have intrigued critics, and he has sparked controversy for his showing of gore and violence. They have also allowed him to have won many awards such as the Special Jury Prize for “Crash” at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival. This award is unique, and it was only given at the request of the official jury for originality. Cronenberg took a short break from creating films, but has made a comeback with “Crimes of the Future”(2022). The film had many mixed reviews. One negative review from the film was very harsh. The critic wrote, “Im not sure if anyone watched the same movie as I did, but the movie was awful from start to finish. Slow boring and stupid plot. I would never recommend it or see it again” (Gray, Chris, 2022). This review was quite shocking to me due to the popularity of Cronenberg. Cronenberg’s film “The Fly”(1986) did receive more positive feedback. One critic wrote, “One of those rare horror films that's both touching and terrifying in equal measure"(Wawrzyniak, Joe, 2016). David Cronenberg is known for being one of the most popular body horror directors and is still today influencing the popular sub-genre. I do agree with this review, since I have watched the film and greatly enjoyed it. The grotesque transformations that occurred in this film definitely terrified me. I believe that from researching and watching some of his films that he is a very good body horror director and I would enjoy to keep watching his films.

Your Christmas or Mine 2 official trailer
Your Christmas or Mine 2 official trailerYour Christmas or Mine 2 official trailer
Prime Video has dropped the official trailer for Your Christmas or Mine 2. As I said before, the original was my surprise easy watch Christmas mood builder for 2023, and while this looks equally contrived, I’ll be watching as December moves inexorably towards the festivities. From the trailer it seems stakes are raised and a ring suggests the happy ending (and presumably next year’s #3 is the…
