#if it's warlock she has a great old one patron that is some kind of insectoid hive mind#she takes pact of the chain and i frantically beg the dm to let her have a swarm of bees#(otherwise it's a spider obviously)#if she's a druid she's circle of the shepherd and it's all insect-themed#i beg the dm to let me substitute various kinds of insects for the bear/hawk/wolf spirits#(i'm thinking beetle for bear/dragonfly for hawk/either ant or bee for wolf)#and all her wild shape forms are insects; giant insects; or swarms of insects as her level and their cr allows#(i'd use existing monster manual stats to draw my dm up a sheet of exciting stuff)#regardless of which she takes she has the sage background and is SUPER PASSIONATE about the role of insects in the world
SHIT I just remembered that multi-classing is a thing, though?
This is definitely a multi-class I’d pre-arrange well ahead of the time with the DM, but I’d probably start her as a Druid, and at level 4 have her run into her Otherworldly Patron--that’s the level where she can do vanilla Swarm of Insects as a beast shape, and her patron would be the insectoid alien hive mind, so it would make sense for her to be dinking around as a bunch of termites or something and end up accidentally in contact that way, but obviously I’d make the suggestion and then have it be up to DM discretion what actually happens. I’d, tentatively, run her up to warlock level 3 as she excitedly explores her now powers and connection with the Bugfriends Of The Void, possibly go to level 4 for the ability score increase, then have her reconnect with her druid roots and get to druid level 6 for the Circle of the Shepherd’s beast summons, but after that, and even before that to some extent, it’d be a bit of role-playing what she does and doesn’t do immediately.
Hmmmm. I really think it’d all depend on the DM, tbh, where I started and whether I planned to multi-class, but... Petra is the only char I really wanna translate over to DnD and I think all three potential paths would work for her.
Things I think about way more than I probably should: whether Petra would work best as a warlock, or as a druid
#she may also show up as an npc somewhere someday#in the multi-class guise in a small community somewhere#their honey is famous across the land#their forests are said to be haunted by spiders#but if you stay on the road and don't disturb cobwebs#you will travel safely#extra-safely if you feed the ants#dnd#petra mariakis
