More Des Meta Time: how long after his family's deaths do you think desmond became descole? did he mourn for a while first? try some stealthier stuff before going full supervillain? or did he just say fuck it n strutted into the spotlight like the majestic bastard he is? anyways i'm love your content keep up the good work my dude

I have a whole layout of his life that i made for myself to fill in the gaps so these ideas are from my hc, so yknow (this takes place when he’s 25 btw)

I think after his family was killed he was almost catatonic; if Raymond weren’t there to take care of him, he would’ve definitely starved to death. He developed bad drinking habits which took a while to break out of, he wrecked things, he had nightmares, he was out of control

For a while he even yelled at Raymond, taking out his anger on anything in sight so he could avoid his emotions. He was confused; everything had happened so fast, they were alive and then they were dead. 

Raymond was there to help him, of course, but there was only so much he could do. Desmond was almost driven insane by grief and hatred until all that focused on Targent. His wife and child would still be alive if it weren’t for them, and they were going to pay for what they did

He came to the conclusion that he would destroy them piece by piece like they did to him, starting with besting them with the ruins and moving to dismantling their own plans and taking away their chances. He was ready to march into the Nest and take it apart bit by bit, but then he remembered the connections he had in the archaeology world. If Desmond Sycamore was known to be the enemy, his work would be null. that wouldn’t be important if being a world-famous archaeologist weren’t an advantage to him; he was highly regarded as a prodigy, people inviting him to conferences and such; what better way to unearth the Azran’s secrets than to talk to others who may have information?

So he decided that he wouldn’t be Desmond sycamore, but who was he going to be? He needed to be flashy. he needed to be anything but mundane, to separate his usual self from it. He and his daughter had drawn little stories together, and one of her designs stuck out. He picked it (making tweaks - four-year-olds dont usually understand design) and got to work. The villain didn’t have a name, but im just gonna go ahead and show you this

Its pronounced almost the same way; in French the c would be silent, so that doesn’t make a huge difference and it keeps the feel. So he chose the whole character of Descole for a daughter that he couldn’t protect.

Espionage was a good route to take (as long as he didn’t lose his cape); he knew where the Nest was, seeing as how he’d talked to Bronev in his office before. He snuck around as much as he needed, gathered information, then left. He tried not to be detected, but wore his disguise just in case. He didn’t want to catch their attention, as he had no reason to

But then he figures out where the golden garden is, and the whole Misthallery situation happens. he’s still planning to remain unseen, but that changes when Layton shows up. Descole has a dilemma now; Layton was an archaeologist, already having made a name for himself, so he would be of interest to them. What makes it worse is that Bronev could do to him what he did to Descole, and that made him sick to his stomach, so he had to make himself as extravagant as he could, preparing a dramatic reveal to bring attention to him and have him stick out. He made everything big and spectacular when he didn’t need to; that way, he was the only one they saw. But Layton got involved more and more, and when he stole the show in Eternal Diva, he realized he needed to be closer to him instead of detached. It was too late then to keep him away, but he kept him at arms length to keep watch on him.
