I hate last nights, last shots, goodbyes. Casual as possible is all I can do - hard in the face of an outpouring of affection from the Russian crew. Makes me wish we were here longer and with more sensitive leaders.
Reading this sentence is very complicated and weird. Cause in some way, reading the whole diary is like a goodbye to Alan. It’s hard to admit. And “ I hate last nights, last shots, goodbyes,” too. When reading, it “ makes me wish we were here longer. ”

Whenever I see Lionel Shabandar, I remember Alan mentioning in his diaries that he accidentally slammed his thumb with a car door, and it eventually turned black a few days later during filming. It's actually visible in the scene where Lionel sits naked on his office chair with his arms crossed while laughing like a maniac omg

Reading Madly, Deeply (Alan Rickman’s diaries) has made me realize how much I love reading other’s voice. It helps me as a writer to understand how people’s words flow not just in speech but in their own written language.

Book Review: Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman
I hate it when my head, heart and aspirations are filled to the brim only with career. The rest of me hangs around like a jacket on the back of a doorknob. Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman by: Alan Rickman Initial Thoughts: Like the late actor Alan Rickman, I also write in a diary. Unlike Alan Rickman, I would never want my diaries to be bound into a book and published for public…

Madly, Deeply ~ the diaries of Alan Rickman
Tumblr media
3.5 out of 5.
A selection of edited diary entries from 1993 through 2015, along with some from earlier years. Entries range from the personal (doctor appointments, dinners, films and plays attended) to the professional (interviews, theater and films, press junkets).
This honestly wasn't what I expected when I first put it on my reading list. I've always adored Rickman's work, limited as I was to film living in America. Like many, I first saw him in Die Hard and was captivated by the voice and the acting. I then followed his work as much as I could, even seeing that, frankly, atrocious Robin Hood film simply because he played the Sheriff of Nottingham. I was gutted upon hearing Alan Rickman left us so incredibly early.
I will warn those who are looking for Harry Potter references that, for the most part, they will be vastly disappointed. Ditto for those hoping for more in-depth commentary regarding his work. It's there, but sometimes with just a couple of words. I won't say that I didn't like this, but I sadly didn't love it. It is what most people write in their diaries just as reminders, not as entries expected to be shared with the world.
Would I recommend the book to others? Only if the reader goes in knowing what they will receive, a bare glimpse of the man. There are nuggets, particularly the personal ones as Rickman is brutally honest at times regarding his friends and acquaintances, but in quick entries. However the norm is simply a word or two, perhaps a partial line. If that will satisfy you, read on.

Maybe the wind will turn, but at the moment there is a gnawing feeling that this life offers only fleeting moments when it all comes together because the rest of it requires a fitter body and a more grown-up mind.
None of it helped by spending the day alone.
But the contrast to all the glitter of yesterday makes both seem aimless.
Grow up.

I’m not the one to be interested in strangers’ life, but at the end this book got me good.

2.10.2025
This dream was a bizarre one.
I knew at one point I’d been dreaming and tried waking myself up, but I “woke up” in a summer camp scenario with people from my high school where all of our mattresses were laid out on the floor. In the previous dream, I found out that my period started and I was really alarmed because I don’t bleed since I’m on testosterone, so I desperately needed to find a bathroom. That carried over to this dream, so I was annoyed with myself when I accidentally mixed up my clothes with someone else who was desperately trying to find her black bottoms. As soon as I found them for her, I rushed to the bathroom.
There was only one bathroom and it was up a flight of stairs. The door was open so I went in and saw a boy. I apologized and ducked out. Once he came out, we acknowledged each other, embarrassed, and I made a joke about the door being open.
Once the bathroom was free I rushed inside, but my mom stopped me and said, “would it help if I had these bipolar sauces?” and took two bottles from a shelf that were connected at the top by a string. (IRL, I have bipolar.) As she was explaining the sauces I started chewing on the shelf for some reason?? My mom finished with, “so next time you eat ramen you could try these!” I said sure just to get her to leave before we realized I’d left bite marks on the shelf, which she pointed out with a chuckle and then left.
The door to the bathroom wouldn’t close all the way so I figured as long as it was closed most of the way it was fine. In the bathroom were lots of plants, two hot running baths with colored water, and multiple sinks and toilets. It was actually a really pretty bathroom but I inwardly remarked how weird it was that there were two toilets sitting together with no divider.
Almost as soon as I sat down on one of the toilets, three boys entered. Once I made my presence known, two of them apologized and left, but one of them kept asking a question that sounded like, “before I leave, can I put on 9:30 XM?” But he was saying it so quickly I couldn’t understand him and asked him to repeat himself twice. I understood that he wanted to tune his speaker into a radio station and ok but then please leave.
Instead, the boy kept nonchalantly chatting with me and I could not get him to leave no matter what I did. I kept telling him to gtfo and he continued to chat away. I lifted up my huge white skirts to show him I was sitting on a toilet (because apparently I was wearing a wedding dress??) in the hopes that it could make him feel uncomfortable enough to leave. I also apparently had this huge tattoo of Severus Snape on my thigh, and when I lifted my skirts, the boy came closer and excitedly commented on the tattoo and said how sad it was that Alan Rickman is dead. I was getting extremely fed up at this point and said, “okay, that’s it, I’m just gonna start peeing, I don’t care.”
So I did, and when I looked up, to my absolute horror, a dozen more boys appeared in the bathroom, all chattering together and ignoring me. That indicated to me that I was dreaming, so I snapped awake.

Unveiling the Soul: A Journey Through Alan Rickman's Diaries
I’m putting a mild spoiler warning because I plan to be honest, raw, and from the gut in my review. Without any constraints so if you thought about picking up the book but you don’t want to know anything about it, please read forward keeping this in mind. Photo by: NOLITETHOUGHTS I want to do it in an unrefined way to honour his memory and to reach back to the part in me who was living and…
