This was a really heartwarming finale. That flustered look on Emi’s face when Maou touched her was so cute. I still like Chiho more, but I don’t dislike her like I used to.

Final battle was a little underwhelming tbh. I thought it would be more of a struggle considering where it left off in the last episode.. even the Olba fight from s1 was better.. but I still really liked the Ente Isla arc. It’s been hyped up for so long, so to be able to see their home world, even if only briefly, was nice. Not sure how much source material is left, but it would be cool if we went between worlds a little more.

The scene of everyone gathered around the dinner table for a family meal made up for the unimpressive battle. Everyone is finally back together. Emi’s gonna have to get a new job though 😂

This season has been my favourite of the 3 so far. I liked the character dynamics, budding romance and the more magical element of the story a lot more in this one.

All of the characters went through quite a bit of growth this season, Suzuno, Maou and Emi most notably and it was just a fun ride. I know the hype has died out for this series, but it’s solid for me.

The Devil King stretched, arms over his head. His gaze drifted around his castle, from the ceiling, to the counters of the kitchenette, back to Alciel. He really seemed to think about the issue. It concerned his closest confidant, which meant there was definitely an issue worth considering. There was no way that Alciel would waste his time if he didn't think someone really would walk in on their conversation.

After a moment or so of pondering, Maou stretched out on the tatami mat floor. Home stretched out underneath him sometimes, it felt like. "No," he answered, eyes wandering back to his companion, "I'm not even a little bit worried about it. Besides, what's worrying about it going to do, anyway?"

As for the isekai thing, I think we have collectively renamed portal fantasy, because there are some isekai where people can and do return to their original world, they are just rare in the genre, like Hataraku Maou-sama! (The Devil is a Part Timer!).

Me, looking at a genre I read extremely little of but have a general understanding of the format, like whump fics or isekai: Y'know I bet I could knock out a decent one of these. I have some ideas that could add something.

My memories: Hey remember those years on writing forums of dealing with people who have only the barest passing familiarity with fantasy and scifi, dismissing the whole genre as That Random Forgotten Realms Book They Read Once and clearly shallow and stuck in a rut, and trying to wow everyone with their Totally Revolutionary Idea For Writing The Greatest Fantasy/Scifi Ever? Remember them getting really mad when people enthusiastically steer them to the entire subgenre of people who did their thing better in the 80s ('if you want to write that plot again, you should read these so you know where the subgenre stands! They're great books!') and gently offer advice on which parts of their idea are highly cliche bullshit? Remember those guys?
