there's really only one obvious thing to steal-
closeups because why not

i feel like lupin would call spy the pops nickname just be annoying and confusing, then scout would call spy pops on impulse and spy would kinda just die inside lmao
bonus spy alt expression
probably a more accurate rep of what spy's reaction to lupin would be tbh

Everyone talks about the tragedy of animated media getting reboots that replace their excellent art direction with uncanny realism —like the Lion King and its “live action” reboot—- but there’s one series that embodies that tragedy better than anything else. And I need to share it with you all because I can’t be the only one Haunted by it day and night. Please let me tell you the Sad, sad story behind this image:

There was an early 2000s video game trilogy called Sly Cooper, whose main appeal was its super unique art direction, style, and atmosphere. The trilogy had a unique tone focused on a cartoon Phantom Thief who did Moody Atmospheric Heists in a comic-book-inspired world.
The trilogy integrated 2D animation into the game for cutscenes, and the characters-- while low-poly-- were designed to look as much like those flat 2D cartoons with cel-shaded outlines as they could within the limitations of the Ps2.

It took heavy influence from comic books and anime, especially Lupin III. The first game even had alternate anime versions of its 2D cutscenes that you could unlock!
Nearly all the levels took place at night, but the designers talked often about how their goal was to create the illusion of night time through vivid color palettes rather than darkness, taking inspiration from the vivid nighttime cityscapes in Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge.
As a result of their stylized art direction, the visuals-- primarily in the second one, which is the one that focuses the most tightly on Thieving & Moody Atmospheric Heists-- still hold up today.
And then Sly Cooper started appearing in “brand crossover games” and “reboots” and Oh god. Oh no. so that's why no one talks about it anymore.

I am haunted by this. People talk about their favorite cartoon character getting hit with the Uncanny Hyper-Detailed Beam and I instantly think of the sad fate of poor, poor sly cooper, who I am very nostalgic for, and his now-dead franchise that hasn't had a new installment in over a decade.
But to me this really emphasizes how strong art direction is far more important than polygon count, realism, or level of detail. Because there have been similar franchises rebooted in ways that manage to elevate the old 2D-inspired art styles with more modern graphics. Toys for Bob's new takes on Spyro and Crash Bandicoot both had stellar art direction!

But that kind of thoughtful art direction can be difficult to achieve. It's not even the fault of the artists or developers; these things are often beyond their control. But I am glad we're in an era where stylized 3D animation is becoming more popular. I hope more creators continue to realize that there is actually a big demand for media with interesting, unique art styles! also you should play sly 2: band of thieves
#video games#art#sly cooper#but yes. please weep with me as you read this#im having a mild hyperfixation moment#because being an adult means I can be a Gamer it turns out#the perils of having Cash#you really should play sly 2 band of thieves though.#okay: the first Sly game is a basic platformer game format elevated by stellar art direction and strong storytelling#the second game is focused on Doing Jobs to Prepare for Heists and more about exploring and sneaking around rather than platforming#and even improves on both the art style/storytelling with more explorable parts of the world and a more complex plot#and then the third one is the one they had to throw together in a couple months before the release of the ps3 made ps2 franchises obsolete#and is kind of a hot mess but has a couple cute moments

HELLO LUPIN III FANDOM, A NEW TRAILER JUST DROPPED !! YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS !!
youtube
That’s right, it means I get to sit down and watch it frame by frame and write down everysingle details to make predictions. Let’s fucking go !
I’m translating all the text with Google, I’ll come back later with a more accurate translation and hopefully an idea of what the voice-over is saying.
The first part of the trailer is pretty basic and doesn’t tell us much, things start getting interesting with the polaroids.
0:00 to 0:08 : These are just clips taken from the previous movies.
0:06 : ‘’Original : Monkey Punch’’
0:09 : Lupin and Jigen exit some old dilapidated building, with bars on the doors and windows. Probably an abandonned prison.
0:09 : Lupin and Jigen are running through a forest. This is a different forest and outfits than in the later clips, so not much we can get from this.
0:10 : Lupin and Jigen running and jumping over the balcony of a fancy mansion. There are police cars in the background, so they’re likely getting chased by Zenigata.
0:11 : ‘’Lupin III – for the first time in 30 years – In theaters soon’’ (what do they mean for the first time in thirty years ?? the anime franchise is over 50 years old ??)
0:13 : a fancy blue collector car crashing through a wall. No way to tell who’s driving it but considering the next clip, probably not Lupin.
0:13 : a different car (yellow this time) swerves into a very fancily decorated tunnel, with gargoyles and everything. It’s being pursued by a blue car. It’s hard to tell but it could be the one from the previous shot (but I’m not getting tricked into this kind of assumptions again, TMS ! -sideglance at the Part 6 trailer-). Lupin is driving the yellow car, with presumably Jigen in the passenger seat, and he looks like he’s having a great time AND is about to shoot someone. NICE
0:15 : ‘’The new target is’’
This is where things begin to get crunchy! -rubs hands-
0:17 : photos laid out on a wooden table with what looks like a glass of alcohol. The first one is a rock formation near the seaside, similar to the landscapes we’ll see later in the jungle section. The second is a bunch of people in what looks like a crossover between a cult robe and a hazmat suit, surrounding a large humanoid silhouette that’s hooked with cables to something like a creepy experimental lab. Third one is two of those same robes figures looking at… something, behind a wrought iron fence. We can’t make out what’s behind it, but it looks big.
0:18 : Lupin and Jigen have got new outfits babeeeyyyy !!! Gotta love Koike’s sense of fashion (except for Jigen’s fugly sunglasses in Fujiko’s Lie, those can go to hell).
0:19 : a plane flying low in a snowy mountain range. I think here it’s safe to assume Lupin and Jigen are flying it (judging by the outfits and the following clips).
0:20 : ‘’a mysterious island not on the map’’
0:21 : the whole gang is in an airplane hangar in a mountain range, with Jigen and Lupin wearing the same outfits as before, so yeah, they were driving the plane. All four are holding up playing cards (Lupin an ace, Jigen a king, Fujiko a queen, and Goemon a jack, all from the diamond suit). All but Lupin seem somewat miffed or surprised about the cards. Fujiko and Goemon look like they got here on their own and are meeting Lupin and Jigen. Thank God, Goemon is finally wearing weather-appropriate clothes.
0:23 : Zenigata also got a card. We don’t get to see what it is ; going by the pattern it should be a 10, but I have a feeling it might be a joker. He’s in a different location, but he’s also got warm clothes, so probably the same general region. He’s chasing them and he’s got a good idea of their location.
0:24 : someone is unfolding a map of the Bermuda Triangle. It’s impossible to tell who it is, the sleeves are not the same as Lupin’s in the previous outfit, but that doesn’t mean anything. It’s interesting to note that in Goemon’s Bloodspray, Hawk was said to have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle.
0:25 : different region, different plane. This looks like a seaplane to me, but I can’t be sure. The landscape is a jungle, presumably the same we see in the next clips. I’m going to go ahead and assume this is in the Bermuda Triangle.
0:27 : LUPIN WHAT ARE YOU WEARING ???
0:28 : Lupin is driving a… tank ? armored jeep ? Some kind of armored vehicle on a Glowing Blue Road (???). He’s not having a great time. There’s some weird lights moving around ; it could just be a cool visual, but I think there’s a non-zero chance there are drugs involved. (I need to check what art effects were used for Binkam’s altered mental state in Fujiko’s Lie). Oh, and the vehicle is losing fuel. Always fun, that.
0:32 : brand new Mutant Antagonist !!! Lupin doesn’t like him. It’s too soon to tell, but it looks like this is going to be Lupin’s Personal Antagonist (in the same way as Jigen/Yael, Goemon/Hawk and Fujiko/Binkam), judging by how he seems to focus on Lupin in the trailer, puts him in serious difficulty, and that he’s wearing a suit and tie. The other antags’ outfits didn’t necessarily mimic their respective protags, but it’s still a significant details as far as I’m concerned.
0:34 : just Jigen getting to be badass. Interesting to note that he now has the fluffy bangs of the later TV specials and Blue Jacket, rather than the early anime’s slicked back hair that he had in the previous three movies. Also he didn’t have a waistcoat in the other movies. I like the fact that his style evolves as a reminder of his character evolution (also, I like that he gets character evolution in Koike’s movies)
0:35 : ‘’The mystery of this island’’ Something is exploding. Also there are TANKS out there.
0:36 : Goemon is naruto-running in the woods. The vegetation in the background of his and Jigen’s clips doesn’t exactly look like the rainforest we see in Lupin’s clip, I think, but I can’t tell for sure.
0:37 : there’s a lava aqueduct? A lavaduct ? We see a volcano later on, and I’m really curious whether this thing is pulling lava out of the volcano, or putting it in (maybe this is the biggest middle school science fair project ever made)
0:38 : Fujiko and Zenigata are in the same frame ?? That’s unusual ! And interesting. So there’s going to be some sort of truce at some point. I think that’s a tank behind them, but I’m not sure.
Aaaaaaand I reached the image limit, so the rest is gonna have to be in a reblog. Sit tight!

Sometimes, if I had the time and energy, I think about the kind of crossovers I'd like to write for Spy X Family.
One being Lupin III. I just think the vibes would fit well. Also the disguises shenanigans between Loid and Lupin would be hilarious to see.
The other, Ace Attorney. I know the technologies between the two is different but there are probably ways around it. It would worth it just for the character interactions alone.
Loid having to read how many times Maya has been accused of murder. Also, Loid having to sit and watch Phoenix do a case. Loid: ....WHY IS HE DEMANDING THE DOG BE BROUGHT IN AS A WITNESS?!!
Edgeworth: *looks over calmly* First time?

I've been think about how a Ace Attorney-Lupin III crossover would playout. Usually, I see people pitch the idea of Phoenix having to defend Lupin from a crime he didn't commit, which is a very fun idea. Though - and this is something I admit is boneheadness from my part in the way I interpret Lupin's character - I can't ever a situation where Lupin goes to court and doesn't have full control of the situation and a escape route in mind, which would take away the fun of the Ace Attorney part of the equation. But again, you could just do that anyway for the sake of a fun story.

My idea would be to have Inspector Zenigata be framed for murder and for Phoenix and his team to represent him. The Lupin gang knows Pops is innocent, and know who is trying to frame him, so they decide to team up with Phoenix to help Zenigata's case. So now Phoenix has to solve a case where he can't let on that he is working with one of the most famous criminal crews in history, which can lead to a ton of fun comedic and awesome moments. Honestly the bulk of this idea is having the Wright Anything Agency lawyers and Lupin's crew just interact with each other. Feels like you get a ton of great moments just from that.

Also, it let's us explore a bit of Lupin and his crew's relationship with Zenigata, since they would be doing this for him just 'cause they can't have they're favorite inspector be thrown in jail for a crime he didn't commit - though we can also say they want to rob the people framing Zenigata of whatever valuables they have as well.

It looks like some familiar thieves show up in the new City Hunter film, “City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust (Gekijо̄ban City Hunter: Tenshi no Namida)”! 🌃✌️
The film will open in Japan on September 8. Anime Limited will screen the film in North America, the U.K., and Ireland in 2024.
Recently, the protagonist of City Hunter, Ryo Saeba, also showed up in a brief scene during Lupin III VS. Cat's Eye. Along with Case Closed / Detective Conan, it's fun to see several of TMS' properties linked together in this way!

Lupin III movies/media and their respective side character/npc girl rating - excuse for rambling -⭐️
~order of when I watched it~
• The First : 10/10

>Sexy people movie
>still one of my biggest favorites
>This movie is strong with its characterization and interactions
>Everybody in this movie you guys have my phone number
>look I get it we have Sweet boy Lupin but girl you did not need to feel the need to save the nazi
>I kinda just skipped the scenes that are not involving lupgang I'm sorry Latitia
>why why are we now feeling bad for her nazi grandpa why why are we here
>the rating is perfect for the animation sorry guys
NPC girl: 7/10 - Latitia is fun when she's interacting with Lupgang she works well with them despite being so normal,, unless if it's her solo scenes especially with her grandfather
• Castle Of Cagliostro: 10/10
>peak lupin
>second movie so immediatly went from sexy people doing crimes to Hayao Miyazaki telling you to sit down and rethink life
>is there anything else to say cause many of video essays represents what j think of this movie
>STOP MILKING THIS MOVIE
>I got weirdly hyped when I realize that ending was the scene that Marisa stole that precious thing referenced
>I need more zenigata and lupin moments with how this movie does it
NPC girl: 9/10 - Clarisse is the prototype sure but the tone of this movie helps her stand in and not awkward with the cast most of the time
- I also feel emotions like I cared for this girl in comparison to Latitia
•Prison of the Past: 10/10

>I had a blast
>Zenigata and Yata are the best here sad that Yata's character didn't transition into part 6 apparently
>First introduction to Yata though that I seen clips of him in Part 5 prior
>cute robot heehee
>Harvey stardew valley why are you here
>Yata beating up lupin and going apeshit with no intentions to be will always be my favorite
>rewatched for comfort from nostradamus' Zenigata
NPC girl: B - Florensa was that her name?? Didn't care, that fighting scene was good tho
•Tokyo Crisis - 9/10

>Fun Movie
>Alot alot of Zenigata in this I'm happy
>we can excuse Goemon getting nerfed the shit he has to go through is funny
>Fun artstyle
NPC girl: 8/10 - what the fuck was the plot with the villain using her egg cells about I forgot
She slayed tho, casually has psychic powers that rocks
•Detective Conan vs Lupin III [the second one] - 5/10

>watch this one for the scenes with Jigen and Conan only
>I do not care about that idol boy and his manager what are you guys doing
>the fujiko bath scene with Ai is.. eugh../neg
>also this one is one of the movies with creepy lupin uh oh
No NPC girl but the crossover experience?: 4/10 get that idol boy OUTTA HERE
•Blood Seal ~ Eternal Maid: 9/10

>refreshing characterization after watching the Case Closed crossover oh my god
>Cute Fujilup in this
>Plot fun kinda died down when the little girl dropped the "I wanna be a thief" Plot for her sister
>still good tho nonetheless
>GRANDPA LUPIN DESIGN HERE WOAH??
>Especially its depicting a young Arsene Lupin and its funny on how sweet he is compared to our grandpap Lupin in Lupin Zero where he straight up ripped a woman's tooth
NPC girl: 9/10 what I mentioned earlier deducted a point but she is very fun in the first half of the movie I do care for her and her sister. Love all these little kids wanting to become Lupin
•Fuma Conspiracy: 9/10
>I need to rewatch this
>Was Goemon young when he met Murasaki in her young girl school uniform 😧..
>Weirdly I didn't feel like there was that much Goemon despite being a Goemon movie
>One of the best Fujiko Designs woah
>I don't care that it tries to replicate The cagliostro feel it was still a great movie
>the budget issues tho sheesh
NPC girl: 8/10 - Murasaki is cute I really don't mind;; after she got rescued it's like she dosent matter anymore but not in a bad way I do enjoy her company. Again with the change of tone she fits in [but I dont like the implication with her and Goemon from earlier]
•Farewell to Nostradamus: 10/10
>I love this movie fuck you
>I can excuse the absolute butchery they did to Zenigata because of how crazy this movie is
>still I need mental recuperation for that
>weirdly this and fuma are up on YouTube and these guys has good animation but why are they left up there??
>I do love this Lupin even though he's not that different from other movies but this specific version of Lupin is my fav
NPC girl: - 10/10 JULIA SOLOS I love her she dgaf most of the time either of how she has been under her parents protection and had fun after everything and she wants to be Lupin III?? EVEN SHE AND LUPIN ARE TRYING TO BUY A CANEO FOR SERGEO?? STOP THATS SO CUTE
-also she and Lupin gets along because of being kids born from rich families that wants freedom and fun
Bonus: Tagalog Dub
>This one is more funny than the sub but hey who loves themselves with pinoy humor
>Lupin gives Goemon and Jigen nicknames [Goemskis and Jigs] and i love it
>Lupin in my boiling blood is half Filipino with all my heart that i would die on this hill
>They removed the pedophile lines from Julia only because her first encounter with Lupin was changed from "You like little girls" to "You like dolls?" Probably for cultural reasons
>and other scenes calling Lupin a pedophile is changed to "The guy that looks like a monkey"
>Zenigata when he finally saw lupin after he's mistaken as dead added "Lupin, buhay ka pala, UNGOY KA!" ["Lupin you're actually alive you monkey!"]
>Lupin's first time seeing goemon "And lalaking sakam! Na walang hilig sa Chika babes!" [It's the Lonely/Greedy not interested to chicks and babes!"]
>Would it be funny if you decide watching the lupin tagalog dubs because you're a big Englishira
>I'm unironically calling Lupin by <Lu-Pin> not <Lu-Pon> because of this
•Green vs Red: 9.5/10
>Sometimes I'm watching a psychological horror movie
>and that thought came to mind when Green Lupin was panicking inside the car when red lupin came in
>and when Goemon couldn't handle that his friend's face is everywhere by people trying to impersonate him??
>and the "real" Lupin spying on everyone in the beginning sounding so depressed as he spies on zenigata??
>this shit was surreal I love it
>jigen was hot Grabbing on that helicopter wait whatt
>goemon tied up whaattt
>Serious sexy zenigata whattt
>this movie left me with emotions I think I'm supposed to rethink life
•Lupin III vs Cat's Eye: 8/10
>oh boy that artstyle is so limited to what it can do
>I have not watch Cat's Eye I didn't dig into any summary of Cat's Eye I immediatly jump in
>they cool tho
>I like Ai
>Lupin blowing a kiss to Zeni and Grabbing Jigen by the ass you kidding me
>Lupin gets injured so bad but not for drama intensity but to nerf him he's fucking blind for half the movie
>Goemon our mann he knew that burger hoe was badddd
>GOEMON YOUR SWORD
>YOU GUYS ARE INTIMIDATING A MAN IN THE PARIS CATACOMBS
>TWO MOVIES IN A ROW WITH THE NAZIS INTO THE PLOT
>Zhongli why are you talking to Lupin
>Lupin's voice is also low for majority of the scenes because of how tired he is.... stop the car,, I had to watch dub for the difference of Tony Oliver's performance
>It's alright but Kanichi's voice has some.. effect on me
>I need more lupin getting fucked up maybe I should go watch part 6 idgaf [I did]
>all of my screenshots of this movie is lupgang being very bloody and sexy
>crossover experience: 7/10 and I didn't got to be properly introduced with Cat's Eye
•Operation: Return the Treasure: 8.5/10

>A fun one
>Everybody really did shine here huh
>ESPECIALLY GOEMON WHO;
-ok the first minutes he's in already witness his benefactors murdered
-reunites with the gang and first thing done is trick him into giving back the treasure and get chased down after
-Gets arrested
-Got shot by the shoulder
-bleeding in an alleyway
-Got slammed by the door
-stabbed that crazy bitch clean despite that the blood was censored even though he wasn't censored also getting stabbed and shot?? Or is the zantutsken just like that
>Movie's a win when they have a good Fujiko
>Last act has pretty visuals
>shits gonna turn to the diamond castle from barbie
Npc girl: 2/10 why why are you can you exist nowhere we don't need a few shots of you admiring the scenery of that tower
Even the crazy bitch Is cooler than you
☆~Woohooo! I'm kinda new to Binge watching Lupin despite getting into the fandom 2 years back
Now last thing to note is that I'm scared facing the most harsher Lupin entries with the Lupin similar to Manga Lupin because the Lupin that was formed by Miyazaki in cagliostro then balancing him in movies like Nostradamus is my comfort,;,

Ace Attorney x Lupin III Crossover!
-Snippet from a fic I'm writing where Phoenix has to defend Lupin after he's accused of murdering a young girl.-
There's no one at the front desk to greet the pair when they enter the Detention Center, but they've hardly had time to notice the absence before a guard comes to take them to the Visitor's Room.
Phoenix and Maya sit, offering shaky smiles to the guard. The man looks them over, arms crossed.
"Don't give him anything he can use against you. This man is dangerous, and unlike all the little sheep you have walk through here who've been framed, this man really did it, he's done it before, and if you give him the opportunity he will do it again."
Phoenix's mouth opens, then shuts, not sure what to say. The guard nods to another guard on the opposite side of the glass, and leaves.
"I think that's the first time that guard has ever bothered to talk to us." Maya moped. Nodding tersely, the guard opened the door, ushering in a very tall, buff man...who was not their client. And then another guy comes in. And then two more. Finally, the small room already brimming with tough guys decked out in armored vests, the client is led in.
"Oh, there's no way he did it." Maya gasps.
Honestly, Phoenix can't object to that. Tall and lithe, with a charming smile and a well tailored red suit, the man looks like he kisses babies and courts women for a living.
Its not an aura of innocence, but of elegant cheer, like a graceful little cat you can't believe would ever use its claws. Of course this image is dampened somewhat by the three pairs of cuffs holding his arms behind his back, and the wary looks from all the guards crowded around him.
His eyes calmly sweep the room, and when they land on Phoenix and Maya, he gives them a toothy grin edged with something more sultry.
"Well, looks like the cavalry's here!" He drawls, voice smooth, sweet, and a little high pitched. He practically floats to the chair, seating himself easily. He gives a kind nod, but his eyes are mostly on Maya's chest.
Before this has a chance to sour their opinion of him, his suddenly free hand raises to point at the red paper she's holding tucked against her.
"May I have that?"
Phoenix and Maya freeze as every gun in the room clicks, trained on this nonchalant man as he reaches and plucks a piece of paper from Maya.
"How...?" She murmurs, staring numbly at the cuffs hanging off the back of the chair.
The man smiles again. Now that he has what he wants he seemingly has no further interest in eyeing up Maya, instead looking Phoenix up and down like he wants to devour him whole.
"Phoenix Wright, correct? You're a lawyer."
His hands work deftly, folding the paper this way and that and carefully creasing it at certain angles. His lustful gaze does not leave Phoenix. Maya elbows her friend in the side.
"Lawyer!" Phoenix squeaks out. "Yep, lawyer, that I am!"
He keeps glancing between the cuffs and the guards. They keep their weapons trained on the client, but it's clear in their expressions that they're all too scared to get close enough to do something.
"Aw, don't worry about them. They won't do anything."
"It's not them I'm worried about!" Phoenix utters, face pale.
Oh, why did he just say that...Maya looks at him likes he's just asked someone to throw them both off a cliff.
Thankfully all they get in response is a soft chuckle
"Cute..."
Phoenix is trying desperately to force himself to pass out, looking at Maya for help.
Rising to her feet and slamming her hands on the table, she shouts,
"Your friend is mean! He- he wouldn't help us, or even tell us your name!"
She swallows hard.
The man looks up at her, eyes wide in bafflement.
"Oh, Jigen?" His expression softens into a cheery smile. "What a goose! He's just overprotective."
With one last expert fold, the man slips his creation beneath the glass to Maya. Its a little 3D origami heart.
"Give that to him, and he'll talk. Tell him it's from Lupin."
"So that's your name?" Phoenix murmurs.
Lupin nods.
"Arséne Lupin III. Good boy." He coos.
Phoenix's face goes bright red with embarrassment. Its about time he got this case back on track.
"So, about the trial-"
"Ah." Lupin sits back, eyeing the door behind him. "Time's up, cutie pie. I'm in trouble."
Within seconds the door slams open, and a tall man in a trenchcoat storms in. For a second, Phoenix thinks Gumshoe, but this guy is a little more square shaped, and a lot angrier, if that's possible.
"Lupin!" He yells, his voice shaking the room. "We had a deal damn it!"
Lupin pouts, his voice a flirty whine.
"Aw, but Pops~!"
This new player stomps forward, lifting Lupin by the collar as easily as one would a kitten by the scruff. He fixes Phoenix and Maya in his firm gaze.
"You can come back later. He's mine right now."
"Ooh, I love it when you get all possessive..."
"God damn it, Lupin!"
Unceremoniously, Lupin is dragged out of the room, followed by the conga line of guards. The door shuts behind them all and Phoenix sits, moping.
"I have no idea if this guy is innocent..."

they all end pretty happily
7. Do you write crossovers?
if i did it was so long ago i don't remember it
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
no but people used to send passive aggressive hate about my art in fics once in a while. hasn't happened in like 2+ years
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes. every kind. EVERY KIND
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
a bot will sometimes scrape my high kudos homestuck fics and plant them on a junk ebook site
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yeah i think like 7 of them got translated into russian and do numbers on ficbook.net
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
in the past me and my friend would sit around a laptop and scream laugh write our way through crack fics
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
right now it's jiglup and fujilup
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
i finish almost all my WIPs because i'm a freak. if i don't finish a WIP it's because some dramatic life event happened. this has only occurred two times
15. What are your writing strengths?
im a funny binch
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
i don't outline or edit or re-read any of my fanfic. i just type it and then eyeball it for typos and then post it. i COULD outline and such to really make the narrative nice and tight, but i don't find it very fun to do (for fanfic) and this is like, my relaxing wind down hobby. i just wanna have fun haha. the only reason my fics like, make sense, is because i write at least one ending scene first thing and always aim for that, and also i write out of order so i kinda know the route of the story
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
it's fine if it makes sense to do it there as a narrative device
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
h-hetalia crack fic.....
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
once i figure out how to draw zenigata it's over for you bitches. luzeni hours on da clock
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
for lupin iii fic, i like Lightkeepers the best

my ideal modern day top cat reboot (not just tc and/or the gang serving as side characters in an ensemble cast in a hanna-barbera crossover cartoon) would be like,
tc and benny are the same as they always are (selfish hedonistic get-rich-quick schemer and his naive childhood bff enabler)
dibble is a private investigator (like he's always wanted to be) who is tc's other childhood friend (boyfriend) whose investigations somehow always end up intersecting with tc's schemes even when he's not actively investigating tc. i cant decide if i want him to stay human or not tho (dog dibble au my beloved miss u baby)
trans lesbian choo choo my beloved. weird and emotional, and constantly talks about her girlfriend lola glamour (theyre so t4t)
non-committal flirty serial monogamist gold digger fancy fancy, based on a mix of his cartoon personality and comic personality. like if fujiko mine were a catboy, who will sometimes betray the gang but they barely really hold it against him. tc doesnt, anyway
oblivious math wiz brain who is probably nonbinary but he's got finances to go over so he doesnt really care about that right now.
former-hellcat butch biker lesbian spook *giggles* i cant decide whether i want spook to be a she/her lesbian or a he/him lesbian, but very top cat begins/comic based characterization
roxy from the scrapped reboot finally gets to join the gang :) she can have jellystone brain's personality since he's not using it. she also has something extremely gay going on with spook
then side characters would be like,
myra and sheldon live in the city and periodically get involved in tc shenanigans! myra is very much so a neurotic worrywart who is constantly freaking out over the ways her twin brother's schemes can backfire. sheldon didnt really have a solid characterization in his book so maybe he can have jellystone fancy's personality?
kitty glitter from top cat and the beverly hills cats can be recurring because i like her <3 to me shes so lupin-iii-sadgirl coded
lola glamour gets to appear now and then and gets to be so annoyingly sappy pda with choo choo. has a lot of mentions and cameos though cuz shes still a star and shes dating choo choo who adores her childhood best friend turned lover <3 <3 <3
dibbles ex-wife periodically shows up and tc hates her soooooo much which is ironic because theyre kind of parallels. foils. the same but different. i would emphasize them being so similar and in fact that she reminded him of tc is why he married her and she does not like that one bit. self indulgent but i really dont care <3
i think they should have two kids (fred and daniel, based on comic dibble's names) just because i think it'd be funny as fuck. am i making him even more like zenigata? sure but my justification is dibble is a little league coach and camp counselor which is stereotypically things dads do to connect with their kids :P
jazz and beau can be recurring antagonists with their own gang that being dark parallels to tc's gang. teehee.
trixie from the first movie can be a recurring character too but only if shes an irredeemable antagonist in jazz's gang. the rest of jazz's gang consists of pantera from top cat begins, rocky from the comics, and skratch gets to exist separate from spook.
i guess griswald could be recurring since he had two eps and in the comics there was a recurring antagonist who was a bulldog but i dont care enough about griswald to expand on that idea
- oh wait he can be the actual cop since dibble is a PI now. duh. he literally became a police dog in one ep so it works.
cop cat from the comics can be griswald's partner although i think he needs a better name than "cop cat" ... maybe fuse him with officer prowler so he gets a cooler name. idk

Being a fan of crossovers, this movie was pretty exciting for me to check out. Definitely didn't disappoint!
Lupin the III vs Detective Conan: The Movie is sort of one I wasn't sure how to feel about since I think I've only watched maybe one season of Lupin and it was definitely one of the more "modern" seasons.
That said, while I knew what to expect considering I do at least know the general direction the series takes, I feel it's fair to warn people who aren't familiar with the series to tread lightly.
To sum it up, it's, well, raunchy. There's sex jokes and lots of seeing women in provocative ways (especially Fujiko, my god that woman is the poster girl of extremely sexual women, even in this movie). Tons of cleavage. A bathing scene. It's very adult. Haha.
Which normally isn't a problem, but...I wasn't too fond of the fact Haibara got dragged into it. I just think when you're discussing certain things about the woman body and it's addressed toward a child (regardless of how old she is mentally) it feels a little wrong. Especially with an adult implyingly getting handsy with said child while making said comment.
So just...keep that in mind if you're like me and you're a little put off by it.
The humor of the series was a very good addition to this movie. I really do enjoy some of the gags of the Lupin series and it certainly delivered in this movie.
The characters were all really fun. I think my favorites were Jigan and Inspector Zenigatta.
I love Conan and Jigan's little playful banter of "being father and son". It was very precious.
By the way, there was a tv special before this one (Same name, just doesn't have "the movie" added on in the title). I would highly recommend watching it first as it provides a lot of context for the movie. Not to mention they do bring up some things from the tv special in the movie.
That said, you CAN watch the movie without the context. It's not like it's hard to follow otherwise.
I also want to say that Satou was an absolute delight in this movie. I love how she's willing to admit Lupin was her first childhood crush, but has no issues taking him down. She's hilarious and I just really enjoyed her in this movie. I kind of wish there could've been more of her.
It's rather funny to me as well that you can easily pick out which designer was doing which of the background and side characters. Like, I do think the Lupin series and Detective Conan mesh pretty well, but there are VERY MUCH artistic differences between the two that can be spotted at a glance.
Now before I add this to the rankings, I would like to note I'm not going to add a movie number to it since technically "Dimensional Sniper" is considered the 18th movie. But since this one came out after the last one, I figured I'd watch and write a little something up.
1.) The Raven Chaser (13th Movie)
2.) The Fourteenth Target (2nd Movie)
3.) The Lost Ship in the Sky (14th Movie)
4.) The Time Bombed Skyscraper (1st Movie)
5.) Magician of the Silver Sky (8th Movie)
6.) Captured in Her Eyes (4th Movie)
7.) Crossroad in the Ancient Capital (7th Movie)/Lupin the III vs. Detective Conan: The Movie
8.) Quarter of Silence (15th Movie)
9.) The Phantom of Baker Street (6th Movie)
10.) Countdown to Heaven (5th Movie)
11.) Strategy Above the Depths (9th Movie)
12.) The Private Eyes' Requiem (10th Movie)
13.) Full Score of Fear (12th Movie)
14.) The Eleventh Striker (16th Movie)
15.) The Wizard of the Last Century (3rd Movie)
16.) Jolly Roger in the Deep Azure (11th Movie)
17.) Private Eye in the Distant Sea (17th Movie)
Perhaps it doesn't make a lot of sense, but for some reason, it just feels best to give it tie status with another movie. It could just be laziness on my part so as not to have to fix the numbers, but I kind of feel like this is the way to go.
Especially since it feels almost like an unofficial official part of the Detective Conan Movie saga.
I don't really expect anyone to know what I'm talking about, I already know how confusing I must sound.
Either way, ending notes, great movie! Highly recommend when you just want a fun watch to give you a few laughs

ok usually i think this is a rather silly way to enjoy things but i must admit p5s appeal for me at this point is what ppl can do with it in fanfic and so on that note i must say the most important p5 crossovers are:
-with earlier games in the series esp if u get 1 and 2 in there IF done well
-p5 except sojiro is just jigen retired (see: the jigen references in and around sojiro). the flaw to this one is that it just isnt right without the rest of the polycule and well not only is it difficult to interject the other four in i think we're all better off if we never have a world in which arsene lupin iiis dear husband takes in a kid whos rebel soul is personified as arsene lupin. for the sake of everyone who has to deal with lupin.
-twewy is like p5s cooler older sister to me. there is no good reason for this ive just read good crossovers and i think the reapers game could fix akechi

WHAT MADE YOU PICK UP THE CURRENT MUSE/S YOU HAVE?
Much like how I started writing my others: I was talking with some friends on discord, expressed an interest in possibly-maybe-perhaps writing him, and was encouraged to do so. That aside, I've been a fan of Lupin III for years, and find Lupin himself to be a fascinating character. It helps that there's a lot of backlog to draw from, each part and movie with its own spin on his Core Characteristics, and as it's constantly retconning and contradicting itself, there's no pressure to be "canon compliant" and up to date on every tiny bit of lore ever introduced.
Do you follow TWCFM? Do you follow Lupin Zero? Do you gloss over it like the main parts do? Do you have your own, headcanon-based idea of how the group all came together?
There's a lot of freedom there. I like that :)
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU DON'T LIKE TO WRITE?
I struggle with one-liners, at least if we actually intend on continuing the interaction. My replies only tend to grow over time, and I need at least a couple sentences to get all of my dialogue out (Lupin likes to yap).
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU REALLY ENJOY WRITING?
Developing relationships is sooooooo fun. Literally nothing like it.
I love love LOVE working with my partners to decide how we're going to take our barbie dolls from their initial vibe to whatever dynamic we've got planned. Sometimes things go even further than we were expecting! Sometimes a whole new direction comes hurtling out of left field and we find a way to work with that. It works with everyone, too-- crossovers, canons, OCs, AUs, even duplicates.
HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH HEADCANONS?
Depends. The big ones are usually because I was rewatching something and found a Fun Little Detail I can expand on and flesh out. Things like the Lupin Empire, for example -- if his father was so clearly en route to building it, why is it absent from Lupin III's life? Outside of two Part 1 references, he's never even mentioned it, much less played any significant role in its development or function. Why is that?
I mean, realistically it's because Lupin Zero was made in 2022 and the show debuted in 1971, and they weren't planning a canon for 51 years into the future. Of course there's going to be inconsistencies.
But in-universe, from the perspective of Lupin III being an individual that exists within his setting... What could explain this? How can I take this inconsistency and use it to add some dimension and depth to his world?
That's usually how it happens, anyway. Other times I just get brain blasts, thoughts beamed into my head direct from god themselves, and I type them up in three sentences or less and press post.
DO YOU WRITE IN SILENCE OR PLAY MUSIC?
Music all the way! I have a Lupin playlist I listen to a lot of the time.
DO YOU PLAN YOUR REPLIES OR WING THEM?
I usually plan out Lupin's vague response, how he's feeling and what options he's likely to weigh up before actually deciding what direction to take my writing. Specific descriptions and things like dialogue are all improvised in the moment, and only really revisited if I'm not feeling the vibe or need to reshuffle the reply about.
Dialogue is always written first.
DO YOU ENJOY SHIPPING?
Yes, and having a muse like Lupin makes shipping pretty important. Sex and romance are a big part of his character and behaviours, and so it follows that ships are likely going to come as a result of that. He's quite the Casanova!
However, platonic shipping is also incredibly fun to explore. Rivals, enemies, "friends of the family", actual friends, coworkers, etc. etc. etc. are all things I'm happy to develop and write more of. I encourage people to come to me with dynamic ideas if they've got something specific in mind.

Fic author interview! Thank you @vampirenaomi for the tag! I'm a bit late to the party, sorry.
Tagging @crimetimesteadicam, @dandunn and @carriagelamp!
1 How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 48 works there, and there's a few (including my very first long fic and very first NaNoWriMo novel) that are only on Fanfiction.net.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
562,503 words total. To be honest, considering the amount of long fics I've written, I'm a little surprised it isn't higher, but also I'm bad at estimation.
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Treasures of time - JigLup one-shot, emotional angst with a happy ending (221 kudos)
Up in the mountains - JiGoe getting together (197 kudos)
In the middle Part 2 - Polygang getting together (150 kudos)
We are beginning - Goemon POV Polygang fluff drabble (140 kudos)
How to make a gunman snap - JigLup not-quite-porn-without-a-plot one-shot (133 kudos)
It's mostly one-shots and old-ish long fics, which I am a bit surprised about - but then again, they have had more time to collect kudos.
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! Unless a comment is just two words and I don't know what to answer, I always reply, at least to say thank you.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I don't really write angsty ending. The closest to an angsty ending would be Adieu (a Netflix Lupin alternate ending one-shot).
EDIT I forgot about my entire MorMor period skjlsjkldjkl so yeah my angstiest fic is Bang Bang, a MorMor post-Reichenbach one-shot based on the song by Nancy Sinatra.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
They all end well, so I can't really designate a specific one.
7. Do you write crossovers?
I've written I think one crossover ever, a Discworld/Harry Potter fic way back in the day. I'm not gonna link it because it was bad, but it's on my FFnet if you're interested and you can read French.
However I have a BUNCH of AUs that I haven't written up into fics: Lupin III/Discworld, Lupin III/Ewilan's Quest, and an ooooooold MorMor (or Mor4)/X-Men AU that I did write a couple of unpublished one-shots for.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I haven't, thankfully!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I've written one smut scene several years ago, it was very difficult and awkward to do, but in retrospect I think the result was alright. I'm planning to try again. The past try and the upcoming one are both scenes in longer plotty fics, I've never written PWPs.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've translated my own fics (usually from French to English)
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven't; but I did co-write half of an original novel with my best friend, and the possibility of finishing it isn't off the table.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
LUPIN III POLYGANG. And all variations thereof.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I started a Lupin III Polygang soulmate AU fic, I really want to carry on with it because I love that specific soulmate concept, but I don't really have a plan for what's going to happen in it; and wouldn't you know it, it's waaaayy more difficult to write a soulmate AU fic for five people than for two.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I think dialogue and banter; when I get in the right frame of mind, it practically writes itself. I'm pretty good at writing pacing in action scenes I think.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
I tend to write looooooong paragraphs about character's feelings that kind of get out of hand.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I love doing it, and including foreign words, but I have to restrain myself otherwise my fics would be unreadable.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Discworld. I discovered fanfiction through a Discworld forum. Although to be honest, I think the first thing I ever wrote that qualified as fanfic was the begining and vague plot outline of a self-insert isekai next-gen story in the universe of Ewilan's Quest, my childhood favourite book series. Ewilan's Quest was a huge and formative part of my childhood, and the reason I wanted to become a writer as a kid. And Discworld was my favourite novel series after that, and it solidified my desire to write stories. Both series are still very dear to me; so it's unsurprising, and very fitting, that my introduction to fanfic and writing was these two fandoms.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
I'd like to write a Zenigen fic, if I ever find a precise idea for it.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
That tends to change a lot. Lately, it would be Become, a one-shot about Lupin's journey of finding out he's trans after meeting Jigen; and Hanafuda, my ongoing WIP, a JiGoe florist/tattooist AU where Jigen and Goemon both quit crime before they met and are trying to juggle between their new normal lives, their dark pasts, and what they really want out of life... and their pesky little feelings for each other.
