Name: Swirlypod
Debut: Super Mario Bros. Wonder
YIPPEE YAHOO! A brand swirlin' new snail fresh for 2023! It has been quite a long time now since we've gotten a new Mario snail, and even since I've posted about one, since I covered all the snailiest Mario snails a while ago. But lookie here! Snaily snaily snail for me to see and for you to view!
Swirlypod is so delightful! To get this out of the way first, yes, its eyes are not on the ends of stalks. Yes, this is good and okay. Some snails are like that! Especially freshwater snails. And that's the kind of snail that this snail seems to be! While sometimes seen on land, it is also seen emerging from (poisonous) swamps. It can breathe that!
Swirlypod's face is just so, so precious. Its big, innocent, curious eyes experiencing the world in the way only a snail could! Its big ol' bulbous antennae, more bulbous than they have any right being, more like a nudibranch's than a normal snail's! And its mouth! I think that's its mouth? It's like three scrumbly tentacles ready to scrumble down some delicious fungus!
Did you know that the salt marsh snail Littoraria irrorata is able to FARM fungus? They damage marsh grasses to create large wounds for fungus to grow in, and even use their own poop as fertilizer! Snails can FARM!
Yes, indeed, what a wonderful snail we have here! Thank you, Super Mario Bros. Wonder!
...Hey! That shell comes right off! Now it's all Pod, with no Swirly! Does this mean Lime is The Impostor? I may have just asked you, but that was rhetorical. Don't ask me, because I don't know! Removable shells are a common ability for cartoon snails, and of course, the turtles of this world also have removable shells. I think it doesn't really mean much at all! Though, the idea of a "hermit slug" is very amusing. A snail who can't be bothered to grow its own shell. Maybe it wants to switch shells for different styles sometimes. A slow victim of fast fashion!
Wonder is one of those games where Koopa Troopas retreat into their shells when stomped, so Swirlypod is sort of a way to have Beach Koopa in the same game as the more standardly-behaving Koopa! Once it gets back on its foot, it will try to squirm back into a shell, if one is available. You can give it back! Just drop it down at your feet, and Swirlypod will have a home once more!
Another thing that sets Swirlypods apart from Koopas is that they are sticky slimy and can slither up and down vertical surfaces! Just like in real life! They don't only climb on the left and right sides of surfaces, either. They can even go on the surface facing the screen! Not just anyone is allowed to do that!
I am saving what may be the best tidbit for last! There is a good chance Swirlypod's bulbous antennae look familiar to you. That's because they look just like Leucochloridium paradoxum, the green-banded broodsac, everyone's favorite snail parasite! The flatworm that inhabits a snail's eyestalks, making them look more like caterpillars to get a bird to eat them so they can continue their life cycle! Swirlypod definitely isn't supposed to be like, ACTUALLY infected by this funny worm, but I think the resemblance is very much intentional, between the shape and coloring. And that is so awesome to see! This isn't even meant to be a scary snail or anything, but they represented a freaky parasite anyway!

I finally got all my brain ducks into enough of a row to send this! I just wanted to say that Tumblr recommended your art to me on a whim, and I am actually OBSESSED now lol. I had no prior investment in Submas or anything tangentially related to it prior to this (aside from liking Pokémon generally lol), but I couldn’t help but tear through everything you’ve drawn for these silly little rat children and I love them so much now!!! I wanna pick them up and shake him around like little action figures! The shenanigans and the heartfelt moments are just,, UGH so good! I have no words! Thank you for the food I am going FERAL over them <3
Your art is also high key goals for me now tbh. I absolutely ADORE your coloring and rendering style, and also they way you draw Pokémon in general?? Very animalistic but still recognizably Pokémon?? Literally galaxy brained. I’m going to SCREAM. I know you already posted a bit of your art process, but I’d love to know if you’ve got any rendering tips and/or how you get that clean but sketchy look. It looks so good I want to eat it lol.
(Also I really love the way you’ve been formatting Elesa’s dialog, with the extra lines around the letters. It really gives the vibe that her grasp on Galarian is currently shaky at best and idk, I like that you’ve managed to find a way to convey that over text. I think that’s pretty cool :D)
I SAW YOU REBLOG A WHOLE BUNCH AND IM,,, (throwing hearts at you)
Thank you so so much! I’m glad you love these terrible little guys wandering Unova just as much as I do, haha!
As a treat, lemme pull out some drafting for the mini illustrations. I usually start every snapshot with a run down of what I remember from the area, possible shenanigans encountered, and then a doodle of ideas to come.
From there, it’s a SUPER rough sketch, followed by lineart and rough color, and then cleanup!
(More thumbs and their finals below!)
At the end of the day, all my lines are VERY sketchy. I’m a lot stronger when it comes to mashing colors. That, and if you set your line layer from normal to multiply, the lines will always be automatically darker then whatever layer is placed underneath. It’s a trick used quite a bit for placing cel shadows in animation, but it’s useful for lineart in a pinch.
For colors, I like to stick to a limited pallet and branch out only after setting my primary colors. This entire series has been very experimental for me though, as you can probably tell.
As for the last bit— YES… YOU GET IT! As Elesa grows, the lines in her dialogue will start appearing less and less. It’s the little things that map the span of time for these guys.
Yippee!
#ask#mailbox#aah… scared to respond to my inbox because there r so MANY asks but#this one’s asking for tips and i love getting on my soapboxes#and also the sheer amount u reblogged??? holy shit okay if ur gonna put the effort so shall i!!#ANYWAYS!#critterbitter screams into the void#critterbitter

While I’m in the inbox, what’s your favourite fishy? Or other aquatic animal? :3
OOOOGH okay i’ve answered this a few times but. i don’t really have a fav so i tend to talk about a different one every time lmao,,, so today it’s gonna be darters which are a recent discovery but oml. i love them so much.
little disclaimer i HOPE this is accurate but i am also just a random fucking kid writing about things i like off the top of my head . yay
first let’s just. let’s look at them for a little bit.
waow……. beautiful
these are mostly males in breeding colors but STILL!! even “plain” they’re still so cute
wow… speckled darters. so beautiful
honestly as someone who started in aquariums and moved on to general fish they’re one of my favs just because of how well they blend function and design. they’re also cool. let me explain.
so first of all they’re members of the perch family.
do we see the family resemblance?? a little??
they tend to live in similar areas (darters are north american native fish!! yay!!! represent!! they’re unfortunately not where i am but at least i get sharks. one day i will travel and find a darter)
there’s all diff kinds and some are very very endangered, they aren’t that well known so some people will just use them as bait. rip.
one thing that’s super cool is how well adapted they are to their environment. so darters tend to live in like, fast flowing streams. to help hold on, they spend most of their time along the rocks and they use their big pectoral fins to kinda get held in place by the current. but something i thought was really neat is that they tend to either have a very reduced swim bladder or none at all!! so when they stop swimming they literally just. sink. it helps them stay put but it’s really funny to me.
they’re also a really diverse group, the areas they live in lead to a lot of allopatric speciation due to how stream systems work. so you get a lot of different kinds in relatively close areas.
oh another thing!! not all of them are in fast flowing areas. there’s ones like sand darters. who like the name suggests just kinda sit in the sand but i love that for them
sand darter. yippee!!
their cool patterns actually help them camouflage, u can kinda see it with the sand darter pic. it’s giving riverbed 🫶
they’re also very fast (get it. darters) and pretty good hunters as well. they commonly eat small aquatic insects (mosquito larvae, mayflies) and also small crustaceans (isopods, small crayfish) oh and also snails sometimes.
also a cool thing is that certain species actually do care for their young!! most of them kinda do the usual fish thing which is. you’re on your own. but some species of darter (i think??? fantail?? don’t quote me) actually will lay their eggs and then the male of the pair will defend them until they hatch. so silly
** I LOOKED IT UP ITS FANTAILS AND ALSO JOHNNY DARTERS
beautiful amazing parents (fantail left johnny right)
OH another thing. darters tend to be very sensitive to changes in water chemistry, so their important ecological indicators of marine ecosystem health. if you have darters your water is probably good :)
anyways. point of all of this is darters are a very cool very diverse group of fish and are also very pretty and i think they’re cool. theres a lot of kinds that are endangered or threatened and i think we should talk about them more to raise awareness. yay!

YIPPEE ok plot time (+more lore)
starclan and the dark forest. cat heaven and cat hell.
almost every cat alive goes to starclan. they die, their spirit gets to go to heaven and eat food and sunbathe with their family forever. this happens to cats who believe in starclan and choose to go to it. jake, a kittypet who believed in starclan, did not go to starclan by choice and hunts in his own heaven.
now, cat hell. if a cat is particularly awful in life (child labor, child murder and general genocide are common "awful" things) then theyre turned away at the entrance of starclan and sent to the dark forest where there is no sun, no food, no water and no joy. terrible place to be
now, plot! the series starts out with a kittypet kitten named rusty, who wanders into the forest joins thunderclan and is named firepaw. nobody likes firepaw. this is our first introduction to cat xenophobia. this is a common theme in the series. several people try to hurt and/or kill firepaw. he has to thwart evil tigerclaw's plans in this book, as he will for the next 7 years of his life. kind of a boring book
book two he gets his warrior name (fireheart) along side his best friend graypaw (stripe). theyre sent on a mission to find windclan, who were driven out of the forest by shadowclan (the evil ones. nobody likes shadowclan). they succeed they come home bring windclan back wahoo. possibly gets an apprentice in this book as well, named cinderpaw. might be book 3 tho idr exactly
important sidenote, shadowclan is currently controlled by an evil leader named brokenstar who makes children go to war and doesnt feed old people. he sucks ass.
characters to set the scene.
firepaw/heart. main character. was a kittypet, now a cool guy
graypaw/stripe. funny best friend character. bet you cant guess what color he is
sandpaw/storm. mean girl. hates fireheart. xenophobic. pretty
bluestar. the leader. btw all leaders names end in -star. brokenstar bluestar crookedstar etc. cool mentor/mom figure for fireheart
tigerclaw. mean adult man who really hates foreheart. is. awful. terrible awful man. set up a plot to kill the deputy (redtail. succeeded) and then tried to take the position himself. didnt really work.
darkstripe. one of tigerclaws lackeys. also xenophobic. terrible person. will someday poison a toddler. currently mostly powerless
brokenstar. shadowclan leader. bad bad man. genuinely breaks the law and sends childen (human age would be about 5 or 6) into battle to die. kicks out old people and refuses to feed them.
more coming. soon. do you want more or less plot than im currently giving or is this a good amount? first few books r kinda lame compared to later arcs
all of this had me shocked but "bad bad man. genuinely breaks the law and sends childen (human age would be about 5 or 6) into battle to die." just killed me DAMN now i get why there's so many angsty amvs for warriors holy shit this is darker than i thought it was . yes the amount of lore is perfect i am HOOKED

Here's some Aluminum and Derek sketches! OwO
Again, traditional art, so idk if the quality will be the best! Here y'all go, though! I might end up finishing and coloring them in one day!
^Derek Straws! He's a "strawberry cow", so he is pink and white. I am still designing him, but this is what I got, so far. His kind are naturally tall, so he is around 8 feet tall.
^Aluminum! Yippee! My smol bean! I have had his design for a few years, now, but these are my best sketches on the page. He is really short (only 5 ft tall) compared to Derek. That isn't really normal for his kind, though, and is caused by his difficulties eating.
I plan to start designing the other characters, which I might post on this blog, too! Yippee! For now, I'll just call this story Tales from the Iolite Hospital. If anybody has any questions about it, I'll be happy to answer! OwO

Weirdly Specific Artist Ask Game
Didn't see a lot of artist ask games, wanted to make a silly one.
(I wrote this while sick out of my mind last year and it's been collecting dust in my drafts, I might as well let it run free) 1. Art programs you have but don't use
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
3. What ideas come from when you were little
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
9. What are your file name conventions
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
12. Easiest part of body to draw
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
14. Any favorite motifs
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
18. An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
22. What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
23. Do you use different layer modes
24. Do your references include stock images
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

I neeeeeed more polycule choir headcannons
Oh absolutely, my friend!!!!!
How about love languages?!
The entire poly!choir looves quality time, so that's the basis. But individually, let's go!
Noel- Receiving gifts, absolutely. When Mischa and Ricky got him a necklace and ring for their 1 month anniversary, he didn't take them off except to shower, literally until school started. (And then he wore it everywhere except school)
Ricky- Acts of service!! Listen, he loves being independent, and loves the cule acknowledging and supporting him being independent, but like when he really wants some mac and cheese without leaving the couch, or he's just too overwhelmed for the last few math questions, he adores his partners offering to help.
Mischa- Physical touch and words of affirmation, bc he gets 3 as a special little treat. Physical touch for his close-distance partners, especially!!! Listen, he thrives off of physical affection, whether he is giving physical affection or receiving, he lives for it. Not even intimate, but just someone leaning on him/cuddling him during choir movie nights, or even just holding his hand. Even a quick hug in the hallway!! Thriving. Words of affirmation, specifically giving them. He ADORES hyping his partners up, and making sure that they are confident. They are simply all so beautiful and handsome and amazing to him, and he wants them to know that at all times.
Jane- Physical touch, all the way. A lot like Mischa, she just thrives off of it. She has the feminine urge to be pet or to pet at all times, and she is so valid for that.
Constance- Giving gifts and acts of service, bc she also gets 3 as a special little treat. She adores baking and cooking, and has literally baked or cooked something for EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE ANNIVERSARY since she joined the cule. She does in fact have a "kiss the cook" apron that she wears every single time she bakes or cooks, that Jane got for her the day after she joined the cule. They do in fact follow the apron's advice. That also ties into acts of service. She just loves making her partners days a little bit easier by making sure that they have food to eat.
Talia- YIPPEE TALIA!!! Words of affirmation, absolutely. Especially when coming from Mischa, just <3333. I cannot explain this, but I am correct.
Ocean- Ocean also gets 3, physical touch and words of affirmation!! But specifically receiving, for good reason. For physical touch, she, much like Jane and Mischa, simply thrives off of it. However, she has an extreme difficulty saying that. She almost feels like she needs to do something to earn/payback any physical affection she receives. Bc of this, and her home environment, she is very touch starved (at least at the beginning of the relationship) but she eventually does get the physical touch she both wants and deserves <3! Once again, look at her pre end of show personality, and her home environment, Ocean would absolutely be striving to get compliments in school to make up for what she is lacking at home. And the choir quickly fills that in, without even realizing it. Bc EVERY SINGLE TIME she gets complimented by one of her partners, she blushes so freaking hard, her face is the color of her hair. The cule finds it adorable, and so continuously bombards her with compliments, just so they can see her adorable blush, and failing attempt to hide/ignore her flustered state of being.
-
I hope this works, also yippee my first ask!!! AND IT'S ABOUT THE SHIP THAT I AM IN LOVE WITH!!!!
#ride the cyclone#rtc#ride the cyclone musical#the saint cassian dating choir#ricky potts rtc#jane doe rtc#constance blackwood rtc#mischa bachinski rtc#noel gruber rtc#ocean ride the cyclone#talia rtc#plz feel free to send in asks!!! especially about poly!choir#I'd be happy to answer them bc i love them#or send in asks for rtc in general#also happy to answer those!!!

So here is a little head cannon I thought of while reading your fan fic.
What if herobrine never had/celebrated his birthday so he forgot when it was, so Steve and Alex pick a day and celebrate his birthday with him. (P.s. sorry I have horrific grammer)
I liked this idea so much I made a little drabble under the read more :3 I hope it is worthy of such an great headcanon! Thank you so much for the ask! It fills me with joy to hear that people are thinking about my story lol <3. And don't worry. Grammar is hard and doesn't make any sense. I feel your pain
Before we dive in: this takes place pretty earlier into Steve and Brine becoming friends. So they are just starting to pine. Not in a relationship yet. Alex and Brine are still a little wary of each other but have come to accept that they are stuck with each other.
I'd say this is rated teen for just some small strong language lol
-
The Birthday Brine
-
It was a hot, lazy summer afternoon. Too nice to spend down in the mines. But a little too warm to do any strenuous activities.
So Alex and Steve decided to go on down to the small river they frequented on days like today. A secluded area where the water pooled deep enough to swim. And, of course, Herobrine tagged along. As was becoming more of the norm these days.
Steve was lying comfortably in the shade of a few trees on the bank of the river. Legs in the water; small waves lapped up to his knees as the water went by. Arms crossed behind his head. His shirt was off and laid over his eyes, shutting out any of the light that filtered through the leaves. Not really dozing off, but close to it.
Herobrine was similarly relaxing. He lay on his belly; balanced precariously on a nearby tree that had fallen over the river. Looking like a big cat lounging about in the direct sun. Soaking up the rays. One hand was draped down to the side, touching the cool water.
Alex was the only one fully in the river. She was a little upstream, floating on her back. She had taken off her pants, leaving them on the shore, and let her long green shirt cover her lower half. Every once in a while she would swim back to her original place as the current took her down towards Herobrine.
The trio had been chatting absentmindedly. Talking about anything, really. Steve ranted humorously about his pickaxe making a squeaking sound. Alex discussed way too many of the current happenings in town. Even Herobrine brought up that a dragonfly had landed on his shoulder. Which had the trio all staring for a bit before it flew off and they went back to their current positions.
It wasn't until a certain question came to Alex’s mind that the peace of the scene was disturbed.
"Hey Sparky." The adventurer asked. "...How old are you?"
Herobrine took a while to answer. Seeming to think through the question slowly. Finally he asked without opening his eyes. "Why?"
"Just curious." Alex shrugged, swimming a little.
The demon shifted. Now peaking over to look at Steve. It was like the miner could tell that he was being looked at because he lifted his shirt to look back questioningly.
Herobrine spoke up. "When was the last time I respawned? Four months ago?"
Steve frowned. "Yes. More like three. You fell through a roof, remember?"
"Right, right." Herobrine moved his hand up out of the water. "Terribly made and rusty old structure. Glad it forced a respawn. Tetanus is not fun even with healing powers."
"Why is this relevant?" Alex asked impatiently.
"I'm 28." Herobrine said immediately.
Alex sat up in the water. Causing a bit of a ruckus amongst some fish that had gotten close. "No you're not!"
"Yes I am." Herobrine turned his attention to her. She shuddered ever so slightly under his scrutinizing stare. "Every time I die, I respawn back to the same age at which I turned immortal."
Alex crossed her hands over her chest. "Okay, well that's only technically. I meant, like, if you count ALL the years you've been alive."
"I have no fucking clue, Alex." Herobrine rolled his head to the otherside of the tree to ignore her. Yet continued to talk. "Time loses all meaning when you're immortal. Not to mention I was trapped in the nether for most of that time. So it's even harder to tell."
"What's your best guess?" Steve asked, now curious as well.
And the head came back around. Looking at Steve. The demon wouldn't ignore the miner. He bit his lip, eyes trailing towards the water. "I dunno... maybe a few centuries... a millennia or so..."
"Old." Steve clarified. Seeing that the demon was struggling a little.
"Yeah... old." Herobrine scowled.
"So, what, do we have to, like, wait until you live a year to celebrate your birthday?" Alex giggled. "No wonder you don't remember it. It would never be your birthday based on that criteria."
Herobrine scoffed. "What are you talking about?"
"Yeah." Steve added, putting the shirt back over his eyes. "Come to think of it, when is your birthday, Brine?"
"You want to know the exact date I was born?" Herobrine sat up now, clearly confused. "Fuck... I don't know. I didn't even keep track of days back then. I just survived. It wasn't until I met... my brother that we talked about days. And he was able to do some weird 'code calculation' as he called it to figure out my true age. But we didn't really care about that. None of us counted in the aether. None of us wanted to count. When you have endless time you tend not to care. It's a depressing chore."
"So none of you celebrated your birthday?" Alex asked.
"Why would you celebrate your birth?" Herobrine growled. "Existence is a curse."
"That's why we have to celebrate!" Alex exclaimed. "It helps us mortals to forget about our fleeting existence."
"Yeah!" Steve enthusiastically raised a fist to the sky in agreement.
"Like the aether needed another reason to celebrate..." Herobrine grumbled, flopping back down on the tree. "The amount of bullshit dances I had to get dressed up for was astronomical."
"So you really have never had a birthday, huh?" Steve wasn't sure why he was surprised.
"Nope." Herobrine said, popping the p and settling back on the tree. Thinking that was the end of the conversation.
But Steve and Alex had other plans.
"Bro you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"You think we have enough time today?"
"Sure why not? We were already planning on going into town together."
"Then we better hurry."
"What are you two talking about?" Herobrine muttered. The siblings were getting out of the water and putting back on their clothes.
"We're going to throw you a birthday party!" Steve smiled over at him.
Herobrine almost fell off his branch.
"W-what? Why?"
Alex shrugged. "Well, if you don't know what day your birthday is, it might as well be any day. And since we are already all together and don't have any plans for the rest of the evening... why not?"
Herobrine teleported off his tree and stood next to the two. "You really don't need to-"
"Too late, it's happening." Alex smiled. Starting to walk off. Not putting on her shoes as she walked through the increasingly tall grass.
"Go wait in the nether and come back around sunset!" Steve pushed on his back excitedly. As if he could shove him through a portal that wasn't there.
"Why?"
"We are gonna surprise you!"
"Oh. Yippee. Surprise." Herobrine did not mask his unenthusiasm.
"It'll be fun, I promise." Steve said as he stopped pushing and went to go join Alex.
Herobrine was left alone and very confused as to what had just happened. He blinked up at the setting sun and winced. He wouldn't know the correct time in the nether. So he decided to go back to his tree branch and relax until the time came. He had no idea what was in store for him. But he didn't try to think too hard about it. If he didn't like it he could always teleport away.
All this talk of aether and age had his head buzzing with unpleasant thoughts. He tried to will them away and think of nothing instead. Watching as the river flowed beneath him. The dragonfly landed back on his hands.
-
It was just after sunset when Herobrine was walking up to Steve's small house and knocking on the door. Steve was adamant about him knocking. As Herobrine had the tendency to just teleport into a location, unannounced. There was the sound of muffled talking as well as a wonderful smell of something cooking in the furnace.
He heard the miner walk towards the door, he recognized his footsteps easily. Much different than Alex’s.
Steve cracked open the door. "Herobrine, you have perfect timing! We are just finishing up."
Herobrine tried to move forward but Steve closed the door more. He smiled, shyly. "Er. You gotta close your eyes."
"... Why?"
Steve smiled wider. "It's all part of the process."
So Herobrine huffed and closed his eyes. Steve took him by the hand. Leading him inside. Herobrine could feel his heartbeat where they connected. The miner was excited. So Herobrine was excited.
He was led into the house and then Steve stopped and walked over to join where he could sense Alex.
"Surprise!" They both yelled.
Herobrine stood there with his eyes closed. Face oozing confusion.
"Open your eyes now, Brine." Steve whispered loudly to him.
"Oh." And he did. He blinked and took in the sight.
The inside of the house was decorated with a few colored strings on the ceiling and what seemed to be little torches everywhere else. It was very simple and yet very pretty.
"Do you like it?" Alex asked.
"We didn't have too much time to decorate so we made due with what we had." Steve said. "Probably not as fancy as your aether parties."
"No." Herobrine smiled. "But I like this better." The aether parties were always decorated with too much. This was nice and made Herobrine feel cozy.
Alex gestured to the table, patting the chair to sit down. "Since it's pretty late we figured we'd just do a birthday dinner. Steve said you would eat if we made you food."
Herobrine nodded. Glad he hadn't had anything to eat for a while. He wasn't the biggest fan of eating. Steve had been reintroducing it to him slowly. The miner was an excellent cook.
"Good!" Alex smiled. Steve sat next to Herobrine at the table. "I handled dinner and Steve handled the most important part of a birthday, the dessert!"
"It all smells nice." Herobrine commented politely. It did. He was actually excited to eat.
Alex disappeared into the kitchen. Preparing plates for them all. Steve and Herobrine shared a look. Both smiling, somewhat uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. It didn't last long as Alex came out with two plates, setting it down in front of them.
The meal consisted of roasted corn, slathered in butter, some sort of shredded pork on bread with some sweet sauce, and a cold potato salad. Steve instantly dug in. Probably hungry from all the work they had been doing. Herobrine waited for Alex to return with her own plate before starting to pick at the food. It wasn't long before he was eating more sloppily than Steve. Alex apologized, saying she wanted to make something more special like a smoked biscuit but Herobrine wasn't sure why she was sorry. It was all delicious. And Herobrine found himself wanting to eat the entire plate. It was the perfect meal on the warm night.
The house was filled with the delightful sounds of eating. None of them talked very much. Not needing to. Just enjoying each other’s company. And the food! They were all very invested in the food.
Once they were done, Herobrine was tempted to ask for more. But he remembered that there was still dessert to eat. He started to try to clean up his plate. But Steve stopped him immediately. "Ah, ah. No dishes when it's your birthday."
"Hmm. This birthday business keeps getting better." Herobrine smirked at him.
Steve disappeared into the kitchen and returned with two plates filled with two generous slices of homemade chocolate cake.
He set them down in front of Alex and his own seats. "We have a special slice for you, Herobrine. Hold on."
Steve rushed away and walked slowly back with a similar piece of cake. But this one had a very tiny torch stuck in the middle of it. Herobrine blinked. Huh. Strange.
"It's a candle." Steve explained. "It's a tradition to have some on your cake. We only had this old one." He set the on fire cake in front of him. Herobrine enjoyed the fire flare. "Usually you have a candle for every year you've been alive."
"But that would've set the house on fire." Alex snickered.
Herobrine rolled his eyes and tried to grab his fork. But Alex stopped him. "Wait! We have to sing to you!"
"Er, no thanks." That seemed silly. He did not want to be sung to.
Steve made a face. "I don't like that part either. I think we should skip it."
"We have to! It's tradition!" Alex wrapped her elbow around Steve’s neck. "Come on, Stevie. One time!"
"Alright. Alright." He caved easily. And they began.
Herobrine sat awkwardly as the two sang a little song. Saying his name. Herobrine had never heard Steve sing. It was nice. He had a pleasant voice. He thought the man should sing more. He hummed a lot but never truly sang.
Once they were done. Alex said. "Now you make a wish and blow out the candle."
"A wish? Wish for what?"
"For anything." Steve added. "But you have to wish in your head. And don't tell anyone or your wish won't come true."
"Like a curse?"
"Yeah kinda. But it's just for fun."
The demon chewed on his lip. Seeming to think about it. He nodded eventually. "Okay. I've made my wish."
"Now blow out the candle to complete the spell." Alex joked. Steve nudged her.
Herobrine looked at the small torch on the cake and willed the fire away. It went out.
Alex and Steve stared. Alex giggled. "Guess there's more than one way to skin an ocelot."
"Why would you-" Herobrine blinked.
"It's an expression." Steve laughed, sitting down and picking up his fork to eat his piece of cake. "Ignore her and dig in while the cake is still warm."
Herobrine did, setting the small torch- candle aside and picking up his fork to eat. The cake looked moist. Fresh. And smelled absolutely delicious. His mouth was watering before he even put the treat in his mouth.
When he took a bite he almost moaned. "H-holy fuck." He quickly took another bite.
Alex giggled. "Never had a Steve-made cake have you?"
"Steve, you should stop cooking everything and just make cake from now on." Herobrine had almost finished his piece already. It was just so damn good. He couldn't stop.
"Then it wouldn't be special." Steve chuckled. Looking happy that they both seemed to be enjoying his cake.
"Can I have more?" Herobrine asked, frosting definitely smeared all over his face, unabashedly.
Steve and Alex howled at that. The demon just looked so different from how they normally saw him. It was nice. And also hilarious.
Herobeine got a second slice and sat back, looking full. The demon didn't usually eat so it was a lot all at once. Totally worth it though.
"Present time!" Alex jumped up from the table as Steve moved the dishes into the kitchen.
"Present time?" Herobrine parroted.
"You get presents on your birthday!" Alex walked over to grab two things that had been set aside on a coffee table. "From everyone who comes to the party."
Alex handed Steve something and walked back to the table to give Herobrine a rectangle that looked like a book wrapped in paper. Herobrine took it confused. "Er, thanks?" He held it in his hands.
"You gotta open it dude!" Alex said excitedly.
"Open it?"
"Yeah tear open the paper!"
"Oh." Herobrine, a demon of destruction, ironically opened the book very carefully. Not wanting to damage it.
He held the book up once it was unwrapped. It was, indeed, a book. Not too hard to guess correctly.
"It's a book of modern day phrases." Alex explained. Tapping the cover. She smirked. "I know that you have some trouble with some of our more modern hip lingo."
Herobrine lifted an eyebrow at her. He flipped to a random page. "There's more than one way to skin an ocelot? Oh. I get your 'joke' now."
"See. You're learning already." She snickered. Steve smiled too.
Herobrine looked confused. But not unappreciative. He waved his hand, tucking the book away into his inventory. "Er, thanks. I will read the rest later."
"No problem!" She giggled. She then pushed Steve forward. "Go ahead, your turn."
Steve had a paper package tied up in butcher's twine behind his back. He coughed and walked forward, handing Herobrine the parcel.
The demon took it. Knowing what to do now, he tore into the paper. Revealing what was inside.
He paused when he realized what it was after pulling all the paper off and letting it float to the ground.
"It's... your cloak." Herobrine said. Not giving away any emotion. Steve seemed to droop a little. Expecting him to be a little happier. Alex nudged the miner. They shared a look. Steve rolled his eyes. He walked closer to the demon, touching the cloak in his hands.
"I knew it would already fit you. And there wasn't enough time to get you a new one made. I just know how much you like to borrow it from me when it gets colder." Steve ran his fingers along the cloak. Pointing out some stitching on the green material. "I sewed up all the holes so it won't be as drafty. And-" He tapped the button that held the cloak together. "I replaced the old latch with a golden one I got from town today. I know you said you like to wear a little gold in the nether for piglin respect or... whatever." The miner let go of the cloak and backed up, rubbing his head awkwardly.
Herobrine stared at the green gloak. Rubbing the material in his fingers.
"If... if you don't like-"
"I love it." Herobrine almost whispered. Sounding so genuine it made Steve blush and Alex smile. "It's perfect."
"O-oh." Steve scratched his head again. "Good. I'm glad." He smiled, looking away. Desperately trying to hide his blush. He had gone bright red. And Herobrine wasn't helping.
The demon stood instantly and put the cloak around his body. He had worn it before. But it looked different now. Like it was his now. It was truly his.
Herobrine looked up at Steve. "This is... the greatest gift I've ever been given." He didn't smile but his glowing eyes said it all. He was absolutely telling the truth. "Thank you, Steven."
The miner stared back. Smiling to the side and tilting his head. Embarrassed but screaming on the inside in happiness.
Alex had to butt in. Not liking the way the two were looking at each other and getting a little protective of Steve. "Pfft. Thanks a lot there, Briney boy. Glad my gift meant nothing."
Herobrine blinked. Processing the words. And then realized. "Oh, no, sorry Alex. Thank you as well."
"Yeah whatever." Alex nudged him with her fist, walking past him. She then let out a yawn. "Well. I think I'm all birthday partied out. Mind if I crash on your couch, Stevie? It's too late to walk home."
"Sure I'll get you some blankets." Steve mimicked the yawn. His eyes looked tired. They did do a lot to put the party together for him. They deserved a rest. "Happy Birthday, Brine."
"Thank you." Herobrine nodded. "Thank you both. This was... enjoyable."
"See our traditions aren't so bad." Alex said, flopping down on the couch.
"I do believe I've judged it too early." Herobrine nodded. "You do this every year?"
"Yep. And you get to do the planning and gift giving to us when it's our birthdays. No party is exactly the same." Alex nodded. "I think planning is actually more fun than celebrating your own birthday."
"Oh. Well I look forward to that. You will have to remind me when the time comes. Time is... difficult for me."
"Of course, dude." Steve produced some blankets from the closet. Herobrine sensed it was time to make his leave. He headed for the door.
"Thank you again." He said a little awkwardly. "I will uh, see you both tomorrow."
"Sounds good!" "Bye!" The siblings said.
And with Herobrine out the door. Steve and Alex looked at each other.
"I think that went well." Steve said.
"I think you owe me money for not making a single birthday suit joke." Alex said back. He threw the blankets over her head as she giggled.
"Goodnight Alex!" He went to his bedroom, trying to hide his blush. "Put out the candles before you sleep."
"I'm just saying, Stevie! That would've been a better gift if you-"
"Goodnight Alex!!"
Herobrine stood just outside the door. He wiggled his shoulders a little. Feeling the soft weight of the cloth around his shoulders. He smiled. Feeling warm inside and out. And teleported off.

Still Here
There’s been absolutely nothing noteworthy happening here on the Pullen spread, hence the lack of notes. My days have been filled with making silly cards, cooking...so much cooking...and betting on trees. Yep, I’ve been checking our tree line daily and waiting for the first one to unfurl its leaves and turn green. We have a winner and spring has officially sprung. I say that with full knowledge that tomorrow night we’re supposed to dip back down to 28. Spring is temperamental, but she’s still here. We’ll be in the 70′s on Easter Sunday. So, parkas and sandals, right? We were lucky to escape the flooding that damaged so many homes and businesses in Wilson County last week, and the tornadoes missed us too, so I won’t complain about a few chilly nights. In more cheerful news, the mister has a few free days so we’re going to zip down to Florida and visit my mom. Yippee! Now that we’re all vaccinated we can visit and have fun without worrying about making anyone sick. It’s long overdue. It will be a quick visit but I think we all need it. The mister has a paid sabbatical during the month of October and we have been working up itineraries for a worthy trip, and trying to plan for all scenarios. Best case is that by October life has mostly returned to pre-covid status and we’re free to travel to Europe, Mickey is more hopeful than I am about that. Plan B is Iceland, right now they’re open with some restrictions and we could accommodate those. It would, however, be a shorter trip because we’d be traveling around in a camper van rental and it would be a whole deal. Iceland is also pricey. That trip sounds like an absolute blast to me, but Mickey says it wouldn’t be as relaxing for him. Pretty sure I’m the one that would be cooking on a camper stove, but whatever. It’s his sabbatical, he earned it, and I want him to be happy. If there’s another surge and international travel is out, he’s talking about going back to Acadia and running around Maine again. We all know that these trips are planned around his photography and if it’s Maine he wants, then Maine he gets. I have no objection to Maine in October, it’s beautiful...and full of lobster. I’m hoping that by mid-summer we’ll know where we’re headed and can make solid plans. Other than watching trees (it’s more fun than watching paint dry) and dragging out our suitcases to head out of town, we’re just marking days. Each day takes us a step closer to normal, so hallelujah! Since a picture us supposedly worth a thousand words, I’ll sum up our recent days with photos. Spring color!
Cooking, always cooking. We eat a TON of vegetables. If I can substitute a veggie to make a dish healthier, I do. This super quick and easy dinner is the mister’s current favorite.
I’m not kidding when I say it’s quick, you can have this on the table in 15 minutes. I use frozen riced cauliflower and start that in one skillet. A little salt and pepper, and a scoop of frozen peas make it tasty. I cook it just long enough to get most of the moisture out and then toss some shrimp into a second skillet. I cook the shrimp for a couple minutes on one side, then flip them and add about a quarter cup of Bulgogi or Korean BBQ sauce.
It’s so yummy and you’ll swear you’re eating rice. I also roast a lot of spaghetti squash. It’s tasty in a variety of ways, but a good ol’ pasta sauce with meat never fails. This sauce was chunky with veggies and I used very lean ground turkey. A little grated Romano cheese on top makes it just right.
My current favorite also uses lean ground turkey. I use taco seasoning when browning the meat, and while it cooks I drain and rinse a can of black beans and simmer them in a little sauce pan with diced onion, cumin, and water. Mmmm. Then I pull out another bag of frozen riced cauliflower and throw it in a skillet. A little chili powder and salt, and some fresh cilantro if you have it (I didn’t this time) and you’re in business. Dice up some tomato, scallions, whatever you’ve got (avocado!) and make yourself a burrito bowl. Not only does this bowl offer big flavor, it’s healthy and so filling.
Have I shared these dishes before? It feels like I have. The days are a blur. If I’m not cooking I can usually be found at my desk making silly cards. This may be the one that best reflects my soul.
I say it to these knuckleheads several times a day.
They keep me entertained. I sent this one out in celebration of spring.
Spring also brings out all of the door-to-door salesmen. I hung this on the door but it doesn’t stop them.
I think the best photo of the week is actually just a screen capture from my phone. Mickey had done a home sleep study to see if perhaps his window rattling snores could be a problem...I mean, other than for me. He strapped everything on and the data was sent to a doctor who then called him in for a consultation. He sent me a text as he left the appointment and I wanted to know the diagnosis.
Imagine my relief that he just needs a cpap machine. The new models are small and nearly silent, so I may have peaceful nights ahead.
And on that note, I do believe I’ll take myself off to soak in the tub and get ready for bed. Sweet dreams to you. Stay safe, stay well. XOXO, Nancy

When it comes to testing edibles, I don't count on the dogs. They do not have one of the most discerning tastes buds. My initial step is to review active ingredients to see if it's something I feel comfortable providing. Now, I'm not somebody who's "all health, regularly." I like to stabilize a little bit of unhealthy food now and then. These champions, though, all rank really highly for being nourishing-- as well as I included our favored supplements to cancel way too many Christmas cookies. I had a tough time tightening it down, so here are our favored 7 best vacation presents for dogs that they can EAT!

It was taking its toll on his joints, however with the DGP, he currently appears to be rather solid. I'm SUPER delighted with this supplement, and also my huge young boy is mosting likely to stay on it for certain!
Indigo Triple Chews
Dental health and wellness is vital, yet we aren't fantastic concerning brushing these guys' teeth. We search for oral items that maintain their teeth tidy and their mouths healthy and balanced. The Indigo Triple Chews are by FAR our favorites. They're digestible as well as grain-free. They incorporate benefits by including antioxidants and probiotics with the oral care. Yet why we like them: They actually are long-lasting. We've tried every sort of dental eat, and they complete them SO quick. As well quickly for just how pricey they are. These seriously last longer than any other we attempted. I wanted a metric, so I offered one to Lucas before I took a seat to compose today. It took him from 3:24 till 3:51. In my home, that's a Christmas miracle.
Fruitables Holiday Edition: Vanilla Snowflake Flavor
So, these deals with have by FAR the very best tale to them. They are made with actual snowflakes! Seriously! You can see a video clip of them collecting the snow. These are little, crunchy deals with that are made with 300 snows in every bag. How amusing as well as charming is that?! The active ingredients are quite allergy-friendly, as well. The treats do not include any type of wheat, corn, soy, fabricated colors, or preservatives. While the kids don't care too much regarding those elements, they did gobble them up! I definitely love the story and think these would make a very wonderful stocking glutton for any type of fortunate pup!
Zuke's.
Full disclosure: If you have a dog that is as food sensitive as Cooper is, Zuke's have actually not been the most effective deals with for him. We love Zuke's for training since they have a solid scent as well as are conveniently gotten into little bits. These jerky ones, however, have a lamb that we're trying with Coop, and so far, so good! We do a great deal of training around below, and also we utilize treats for nearly every little thing from regular walks the block to instructing brand-new tricks to working with whatever Cooper's brand-new fear-of-the-moment is. To maintain them interested, we need to blend the benefits. These training deals with from Crazy Dog were new to me, and they've been working so well. They can be found in bacon, hen, and also beef flavors and also either 4-ounce or 6-ounce bags.
Pet Dog Naturals of Vermont supplements.
Many years ago, we drove from DC to Indiana. Then, later on, from Indiana to Louisiana. After that, once again later on, from Louisiana to Indiana. Sigh. All those miles with the dogs is pretty stressful, so we had been purchasing Pet Naturals of Vermont calming treats. They have a HUGE range of supplements beyond the popular soothing deals with, however, as well as we've been utilizing the Daily Best for Emmett (although, I assume perhaps he requires the elderly formula) and the Skin + Coat. They're well-formulated and also most definitely have an excellent taste-- the children swallow them up. My herd insists on being fed at a certain time. Every. Single. Day. Morning meal goes to 7. Supper goes to 5. I know not everyone has family pets so attentive about their feeding times, yet these individuals insist. For some time, Coop was also eating lunch. And, really, Newt gets a challenge plaything mid-day. Anyhow, this item would certainly be a dream if you had to do a mid-day feeding or if you had a late meeting or dinner plans as well as intended to feed your family pet on schedule. Zingerman's Sour Cream Coffee Cake-Famous Fridays
Yippee--I've finally gotten it together and am back with a Famous Fridays post. And this one's a doozy, guys. The most delicious, tender, flavorful sour cream coffee cake from a truly wonderful bakery and deli, Zingerman's. Do you know about Zingerman's? Read on and I'll explain the magic of the big "Z"!!
You know how when you read a word you don't know the meaning of you simply gloss over it and then once you do learn the meaning, you seem to see it everywhere? Well, that's how Zingerman's has been for me. For years I've been seeing internet posts about it but it just didn't seem to matter that much to me. Then my daughter's hockey team made it to Nationals which were held in Michigan last year and she and I did the 11 + hour drive out there, stopping in Ann Arbor (which is where Zingerman's is) for lunch and we came face to face with the phenomenon that is Zingerman's.
How do I describe it? If you've ever been to Zabar's in NYC, you're approaching a teensy bit of what Zingerman's is like. Part gourmet/old-fashioned deli, part bakery, part grocery--it's a massive, wild, zany place with super cool decorations and just about every kind of yummy food you can imagine. We were trying to eat healthy so we ordered a container of chicken matzoh ball soup and a salad with chicken which turned out to be more like a deconstructed sandwich with only a few leaves of lettuce, a couple of slices of tomato, a hearty amount of chicken and just about the most wonderful artisan bread we've ever had. Thank goodness because otherwise we would've missed out on one of the things Zingerman's is most famous for! Ten months later and I'm still dreaming about that bread!!
The good news is that now all of the wonderful bakery favorites from the store are included in their new cookbook, Zingerman's Bakehouse, which means you can actually make the bread yourself in your very own home. I've done it now a couple of times--before my middle guy left for his Australian adventure, he and I attempted to make our own sourdough starter and successfully baked a few different breads from the book, but I'm not quite ready to share with you yet--still need more practice to perfect the techniques. But there are plenty of other wonderful, classic, easier recipes in the book, quite possibly none more so than this tender, nutty, cinnamon-y, buttery, sour cream coffee cake. It's billed as one of the store's most popular sweets and after one bite you will know why!! Simple, homey cakes like this are treasures you will want to make time and again!
The outer crust of the cake is chewy and sweet, the crumb is mellow and buttery and the cinnamon/walnut/brown sugar streusel that runs throughout, adds wonderful flavor and crunch.
Makes your house smell unbelievably good too!!
It's perfect for brunch or afternoon tea but would also give any fancy dessert a run for its money. Anytime it's around, I guarantee it won't be around for long!
So, if you're heading out to Ann Arbor, definitely give yourself time to eat and wander around Zingerman's and until then, pick up a copy of Zingerman's Bakehouse and get baking (it's a fun read too!) Have a great weekend, stay safe and I'll be back next week with some more cold-weather favorites!!
Zingerman's Sour Cream Coffee Cake-Famous Fridays
Makes one 9-Inch bundt cake
Prep Time: 15 minutes; Bake Time: About 1 hour
Ingredients
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons walnut halves (132 grams)--you could also use walnut pieces
3 packed tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups sugar
1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
3 large eggs
3/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/3 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sea salt
The Recipe
1. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Spray a 9-inch Bundt pan with non-stick spray, coat with flour, tapping out excess and set aside.
2. Place the walnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet and place them in the oven for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown and toasted. Remove them from the oven and turn it down to 300ºF.
3. Mix the walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl and set aside. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt, whisking together. Set that aside too.
4. Place the sugar and butter in the large bowl of a mixer and beat on medium speed until the color lightens. Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one and using a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Add in the sour cream and vanilla and mix just until incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl well and gradually add the flour mixture, keeping the mixer on low speed. You will need to scrape the sides down a lot as the mixture is very thick and you want to make sure it gets evenly mixed.
5. Spoon about 1/3 of batter into prepared bundt pan and smooth it down evenly. Sprinkle 1/2 of the nut mixture evenly across it and top that with another 1/3 of the batter, spreading it out evenly to the sides. Sprinkle the rest of the nut mixture evenly across the top and follow it with the rest of the batter, spreading it out evenly.
6. Bake for about 60 minutes, until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean (it might take longer--all ovens cook differently). Let the cake cool for about 15-20 minutes in the pan on a wire rack but don't wait much longer than that to remove it from the pan, as the nut mixture might make it stick to the pan as it cools and make it hard to remove. Invert over another wire rack and remove cake. Let cool fully before slicing and serving.
7. Cake keeps well wrapped at room temperature for at least a week.
Enjoy!
Note: Recipe adapted from Zingerman's Bakehouse by Amy Emberling and Frank Carrollo. I didn't change a thing--you don't mess with perfection!!

🥳 YIPPEE! Today is Lunar New Year Eve, so greetings to all gearing up for the big celebrations this long weekend😀 给大家拜个早年,祝大家新年快乐,事事顺利,更重要是身体健康哦!😍 So attempted baking my very first 🍍 Pineapple (with red dates) tarts! Yeah it’s labor intensive for sure but so worth it! Haha 😆 these sweet treats does bring back lots of memories and my gluttony past 🤣 ! 😉I made my own spin on it with gold sugar and rainbow sprinkles to emphasis abundance and prosperity this Lunar New Year! Made various fun shapes like flower, star, round, wrapped ball ! I used brown sugar so it’s darker in color than the usual commercial ones but I like the complexities of the taste. Yah the ratio used made them taste more like cookies than flaky pastry dough so I may try baking another batch and experiment further. 🤔 🥳Anyway hope everyone enjoy great healthy food and company of your loved ones and friends this festive season😍 🧨 HUAT AH !!🧧 PS: I’m making exceptions during this festive season and eat some of these unhealthy food along the way. Not “Cheat days” cause that suggest I actually want to eat these unhealthy processed foods but nope not keen anymore and I don’t really miss eating it actually, but in the season of festivity, nostalgia and communion sake. Hope no one is taking it the wrong way, I am not being high snobbery about it but it’s my current life choice to eat healthy and continue on my health and fitness journey. If your own lifestyle, genetics and family medical history shows that you are healthy enough to sustain eating these processed foods then please do so (in moderation as always, too much of a good thing is not always good), as everyone is different and should have the freedom of choice but at the same time be informed and educated to make wise choices. To each one’s own. Stay healthy everyone👍😊 #CNY #yearoftherat #CNY2020 #LunarNewYear #ChineseNewYear (at Marsiling, Singapore) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7sHR71g5Ue/?igshid=1ljc61jmflkpm

Happy 😃 Monday. Although Taco 🌮 Tuesday past and it’s Hump 🐪 day. I am still working on my Monday impressions. My nose 👃🏾 is dripping and my Dad is like grumpy 😡 old. Everything has to be in his exact specifications. So annoying 😒. I try my best to work with them but sometimes his ridiculous. My Mom too in a way. But they actually have the money 💵 and that’s like life blood. Like I already made a screenshot of 📱 what I want to get at Nordstrom’s and two of the items were similar or sold out. I really liked the pants 👖. Shall I get them in a smaller size. You thighs are going to be strong thick 🦵🏾. I suggest more wellness, grounding, self-care, mindful, presence stuff. My life now is dedicated not so much on going places to an extent but how you were able to relish and do things in a worthwhile.
I had two meals 🥘. I was going to complain about it but newsflash and I had my hands high up yesterday, I lost weight. Yippee. My fitness 🏃🏼♀️ 💪🏾 program working and I am gaining strengths too. Ugh 😑. I am eating 😋 tons of cookies 🍪 which is alright for this week 📆 but totally dismissed it this next 7 day’s grocery 🛒. Oooh 😯, I taste 🥄 the chilli peppers 🌶 on my espresso. I was reading 📖 articles in the October 2019 of Experience Life magazine. It was beyond cold 🤧 remedies. It also taught you tips 📍on how to get over and keep the virus 🦠 away. I’m going to post highlights of what I thought 💭 were important ⚠️. I also read the types of exercises you perform and I learned a lot. I noted 📝 for the helpful parts and I am going to break them down point by point later.
Sweets 🍫 supposedly produces more mucus and you must avoid them. Related to diet 🍽 I learned about the 16 hour intermittent fasting. I usually only hold up to like 9-10 because I eat midnight 🕛 treats. BTW, last night the snack didn’t do the job. Well, I ate pasta 🍝 and not sweets 🍬 maybe that broke the neural connection ➰. I didn’t want to follow my list of tasks 🖊 closely. I was even a little sick 🤒 this day a blush of what I have today. A little fatigued like and dripping nose. That’s hardly ill. However, I sipped on kombucha which tastes like beer 🍺. I might be allergic for all I know. I actually rested 💤 afternoon to make sure I will show up the next day. I have this nagging idea 💡 that perhaps I should rest today too. Don’t be a sissy. Sleep 😴 early, disinfect and bundle up. So what do I do? I was on my phone 📱 most of the time. When I am not, I was busy making food 👩🏼🍳.
I made a lot of variety of stuff for the entire work out week, I better not miss a day. My Dad just gave me a go on the bathroom. My laundry 🧺 has 30 minutes on the clock 🕰 which means I can scrub. You miss it. It wakes you up and for me, it distributes the skin medicine I use. Gross out ringworm. I was going to bed 🛏 early but I cannot not not not do my nails 💅🏾. I am short on supplies and must I splurge on some color too. You have the money 💵. But I told myself no more loose spending unless of course it was absolutely necessary like tea is for health.

A Dragon Sized Adventure Chapter 41
Chapter 41: The Space Groove
*Crash and all of the other heroes finally enter the Space Terrarium. There are plenty of windows that look out into space here. Most of the walkways here are just scaffolding that is hanging from the ceiling, letting space be freely seen throughout the rest of it (like the Death Egg). There also plenty of machinery and screens about that seem to check the chip itself, although messing with them does nothing, so the might be here for decoration.*
*The doors opens like what you would see on a sci-fi set, with them sliding into the wall.*
Sonic: “Aha! I see we got the futuristic doors here. It must mean we are in the last section, the furthest we can go! Eggman always makes it so obvious.”
Shadow: “Well, Sonic, most of our adventures seem to end in space, somehow.”
Von Clutch asides to Pasadena: “See, I told you they do self-referential humor. They do know they are video game characters.”
Crash: “So then Eggman and Cortex are probably going to be fought here? Sweet!” *He smiles and takes the lead…*

Sapphire: 1:30.00

Platinum: 1:20.00
Mutants to Save: 6

Badniks: ‘Alien’ Lab Assistant Pawn: Barely passing not being a direct copy of ‘that’ creature, this jet black Lab Assistant Pawn tends to pop the top of its head open and fires a ray gun shot from it’s mouth. Shield Lab Assistant Pawn: They stand on the narrow walkway, shoving their shields to push you backwards. They are probably no match to just being ‘thrown’ away into a NITRO crate.
Robots: Robot Walker: Strange little contraptions that just walk around. Don’t touch them, unless you want to be atomized. Sparky Tentacle-bot Units: Annoying little robots that move around with electric tentacles. They will raise and lower them to try and surprise you as you attack. Slap-E: Cortex’s robot servants that will slap anyone who gets close. They are also very melodramatic.
Mutant: Darth Chimpandog: A Chimpanzee + Dog hybrid that wears a Darth Vader helmet, oxygen pack and some futuristic samurai armor. It climbs around aimlessly until it spots you, which will cause it to swing about and use its laser sword to cut you. Znu: Strange little balls of nightmare that only wear underwear. They work for Cotex since there are few Grimlies about. If you don’t attack them, they will use their flashlight as a laser shot to hurt you.
*Cortex appears as a hologram with Uka-Uka.* “ *Sigh.* So the end is in sight. Gather the last 5 crystals and once again, you will have defeated me. Whatever.” *He leaves.*
Uka-Uka is confused on how to go on. “I… um… we will destroy you? Hmm, that doesn’t sound right… Damn it! Cortex! You threw off my groove!” *He disappears too.*
Well, that was strange. But, welcome everyone, to your second home: SPACE!!! (Echo) … Too much? Aw, well. Anyway, Crash and Silver are entering the dangerous workings of the Death Head and must avoid the various traps that line the walkways like pistons, shrink rays, and flipping platforms (and be careful touching the sides of these unless you want to get burned and have cooked bandicoot and hedgehog for dinner, which is coincidentally what Eggman’s eating :P ). And try not to fall off the sides of the walkways either unless you want to experience a full vacuum.

Crash dons his jetpack for this level as zero gravity is introduced into the tubes. Both he and Spyro must make their way through the tubes, avoiding things such as the lasers, floating wires, and hot pipes the clutter and constrict the flyable path. Near the end, the hazards start disappearing as the final doors open up into the open space outside of the space station. I wonder where we are flying to...

Platinum: 1:00.00
Helping Partner: Sonic
Badniks: UFO Lab Assistant Pawns: They fly around in their small ships, trying to abduct you. It is usually an insta-kill unless you have invincibility.
*Crash and Sonic are on the moon floating about the Earth. The Death Head looms in the background, floating silently in an eerie unison.*
Sonic: “So, I heard from Shads and Ames that you wanted to race me, huh?”
Crash nods. “Yeah!”
Sonic: “Well, I’m not one to say not to a competition.” *He smiles in return.* “Now… what can we use for a raceway…” *He looks at their surroundings and finds the moon here has a futuristic city on it (Like Future Frenzy and Gone Tomorrow) .* “Hey, why do you guys have a city on your moon?”
Crash looks. “I… That shouldn’t exist. Cortex did succeed in making a city for him in the future but this one seems to have been made now…”
Sonic shrugs. “All I can think of is that Eggman probably helped him make it.” *And it shows, since there are neon signs everywhere that have stuff like ‘Neo Cortex’ and ‘Eggman’.* “Heh, I bet they won’t mind if we mess around here?”
Crash: “Well, I don’t care. And I know you don’t care, so…”
Sonic: “True that. Ready to race?”
Crash: “Hold on…” *He uses the Emeralds to make them Super.* “If only for a fair race.”
Sonic: “And if anything gets destroyed, aw, well.” *He smirks and both of them get ready...*
It’s a very fast paced race through Cortex’s and Eggman’s city on the moon. Hovering cars are flying all over the streets but they shouldn’t have been driving today as they are the ones to go flying if you bump or crash into them. The big danger here are the UFO Lab Assistant Pawns that fly about to attempt to abduct you, which, in this super form, is just more of an annoying slow down. Keep on the lookout for transport tubes that can pinball you ahead a few streets. And Sonic is not holding back on his speed so you do not want to make too many mistakes. Remember there is a very shiny 2nd gem on the line if you can beat Sonic.
(If Crash wins:) Crash is ecstatic. “YIPPEE!! I did it! I beat the fastest thing alive!”
Sonic smiles: “Indeed you did, Crash. A wonderful job.”
(If Sonic wins:) Sonic: “You did well, Crash, but you see why I am called the fastest thing alive.”
Crash is still smiling: “I know, but it was fun to race you all the same.”
(In either case:) Sonic: “Now, come on, let’s blow this popsicle stand!”
Achievement Unlocked: Going Super Sonic

Sapphire: 1:50.00

Platinum: 1:40.00

Helping Partner: Cream
Badniks: Space Lab Assistant Pawns: They carry ray guns and will fire them with good precision unless you keep moving. Falco: They sure do love jetting around and dropping Pawns and bombs. E-2000: Eggman’s humanoid androids that love lasers and shields. If you get close, they might fire it off at you. If you attack them first, they will use their shield to block attacks until it lowers it again. It’s best to attack it as it fires its laser. Egg Cannon: Avoid those targeting reticles or get shelled.
Crash and Cream find themselves warped high up on the city’s skyline traversing across the rooftops as badniks keep up a relenting attack from the roofs and on the flying ships (With the Eggman and ‘N’ insignia on them) that are passing around. Cannons also send shells their way in an attempt to destroy the duo. Keep on moving to avoid them and soon you will start crossing the ships and destroying the cannons that fired at you. It appears we are taking the ships somewhere, but where…
I bet if you messed around on the ships, i bet you might find a gem in one of them...
Achievement Unlocked: The Future Is Now, Thanks To Science!

Crates: 220

Sapphire: 2:20.00

Helping Partner: Shadow
Badniks: E-2000R: An upgraded version of the E-2000 that has more health. Oct: Now comes in space octopus flavor. :P Mirror: What bounces off it gets shot back to you. :P
Crash and Shadow keep fighting their way across the various ‘air’ships, taking down all the weaponry along the way. Soon afterwards, they take us back into the Death Head and into the flipping gravity sections of the spaceship. Try to keep a steady balance of speed and grace to avoid the most dangerous badniks and traps that can be faced. And spike balls. Lots of spike balls. I think they like them too much. Either way, our end is just outside the doors that lead into the core…
Oh!, but near the beginning, if you have found all of the colored gems, you can take a secret path through dangerous space of lasers and wildly swinging platforms and past traps to find a second gem and a secret way out of here.
Achievement Unlocked: Flipping and Flopping
—–
*Crash and Shadow end up warped with Dr. Cortex and Uka-Uka in the center of the Space Terrarium where there was a big walkway with a small circular hole in the center.*
Cortex sounds tired as he said: “I’m sorry, I bet you expecting me to be angry and full of rage; incensed beyond belief. Meh, I’m not.”
Uka-Uka: “AND IN FACT, WE’RE FURIOUS-” *He is confused.* “Cortex? What the hell is wrong with you? You’re not supposed to say that!”
Crash and Shadow stand there in confusion as they argue.
Cortex: “What’s the point? They’re just going to defeat us. I’m on a freaking hoverboard and they’re probably going to throw me in that gated hole.”
Uka-Uka: “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!”
*Cortex seems distant, as though he knows something, but won’t say.*
Uka-Uka: “Whatever… -BUT IT SEEMS YOU OVERLOOKED ONE SMALL DETAIL YOU BANDICOOT AND HEDGEHOG!! NOW THAT YOU HAVE GATHERED ALL THE CRYSTALS, ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS TAKE THEM FROM YOU!!!”
Aku-Aku: “Not if we stop you, brother!” *Aku-Aku and Uka-Uka start fighting each other as we fight Cortex…*
Boss: Cortex
Aku-Aku and Uka-Uka start attacking each other with a huge laser that spreads across the entire arena. You’ll have to jump over it to avoid it. Cortex, meanwhile, is flying around the arena with a barrier and will be shooting shots from his ray-gun at you that must be avoided or you’ll get burned. Soon afterwards, he will throw mines that must be avoided in radius as well. Cortex will then drop his barrier so you can attack him and get him off his hoverboard. You must then attack him and then knock him into the center grate that has broken off and he’ll fall in for damage. Uka-Uka will then save him and return him to his hoverboard. The process will repeat 2 more, but the masks will then spin around the room in a vortex, and then attack and cause an explosion for the last bit.
Achievement Unlocked: It’s Raining Science!
-----
Cortex screams “NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” as he falls down the hole and the hoverboard gets destroyed.
Uka-Uka: “No! My meal ticket!” *He chases after Cortex through the hole and is shown that they are falling in space and towards the Earth. Uka-Uka catches up with Cortex.* “Got you! Now…” *He tries to teleport away, but it fails. Eggman had made sure along with shutting off the transport system, he also connected Uka-Uka to it and blocked him from transporting too.* “What?! NO! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!”
*Both he and Cortex fall to the Earth in a shimmer.*
Aku-Aku: “Hmmm… why did my brother not disappear away with Cortex?” *He shows that he can still teleport, suggesting he is unaffected.*
*Sonic and other help return the grate back to covering the hole. Before anyone can say anything, the monitors around them cut off what they were showing and now display Eggman or his insignia.*
Eggman: “Oh, just a little something I did to the dumbass mask. I made it impossible for him to teleport away so they will crash into the Earth.”
Sonic: “That seems… evil? Why did you not do the same to Aku-Aku?”
Eggman: “Because he isn’t my target… besides, it’s essentially an offering to send you guys home.”
Sonic decides to joke: “You hear that guys? We get to go home!”
Eggman: “Ah, not so fast.”
Sonic: “Figures.”
Eggman: “Don’t leave so soon, you still need to find all of the gems too. I was told by that mask that having all of them works just the same as the crystals. So, why don’t you be good deliveryhogs and find them for me.” *He cuts his feed.*
Crash sighs: “We have to find those gems before he can get his hands on them!”
Sonic: “Good, and then we can finally give Eggman a piece of our minds.”
*The heroes find a platform that takes them to a new terrarium…*
Next Time: It’s B O N U S time in the Bonus Terrarium.
