Warriors: Arryn Mauntelle - Chapter 18 - Haven

Travelling in a small group was a pleasant experience. We made quick work of the miles between us and the mountains.

Horses helped to speed our journey, I found it odd that we didn’t receive a pack horse from the Chief. It was a struggle to fit our supplies in our individual bags on our mounts along with all our weapons. Krem was also strangely insistent that I bring as much of my arsenal as I could. “You never know what you might need on the road,” he’d said, winking.

With our small group, I didn’t question his words and I understood his logic. Weapon mastery was my special skill after all, and I liked feeling special and useful. My horse was packed the fullest by a good margin.

Despite the Lieutenant’s request for me to bring the heat, there wasn’t a great need for it. It was a welcome break from all the recent excitement if I was being honest. Between Zevran, Denerim and the Breach opening, I was nearing my fill of drama.

We did encounter the odd skirmish or two on our way. Darkspawn were made bold by the Breach opening and now with the arrival of demons, they were attacking not only in broad daylight, but along main trade roads as well.

Fighting Darkspawn was one of my least favorite activities. Their blood and viscera always seemed to leave a greasy film that resisted even my best cleaning solutions. No matter how hard or how long I scrubbed, there always seemed to be a lingering stain I’d find later. Gods how I missed strong solvents like paint thinner. A good dose of ethanol would cut right through that greasy layer.

Soon enough, snow began to fall, and we put our winter gear to good use. The fleece linings kept us warm and comfortable and the cold and chill set in. Nights were especially frigid, and I had to admit I was looking forward to a nice warm bed once we arrived at Haven.

As the Frostback Mountains loomed high above us, I knew we must be getting close. The road began to curve upwards, getting steeper and more difficult for the horses to carry us and our gear. Often, we had to walk along and lead the horses by the rein. Usually, to give the animal the best rest I could, I carried my massive great sword on my back.

The others laughed and jeered at me, joking about who was the real horse between me and the four-legged creature I was leading.

Thankfully, my torment was soon to end as we finally approached the gates of Haven.

since i'm talking about bull today, i think its a bit of a mistep to say bull turning against the inquisitor in trespasser is an act of revenge for the death of the chargers. this isn't a result of the inquisitor betraying bull or hurting him. it is a result of the inquisitor reaffirming iron bull's place within the qun. it isn't something that the inquisitor "deserves" for killing a group of beloved soldiers. it is simply the consequence of choosing a political allegiance- the qun- and enforcing the idea that a small part can and should be sacraficed for the greater whole. the chargers can be sacrificed for the inquisiton, the inquisitor (and dorian, and vivienne, and sera, and anyone else bull befriended) can be sacrificed for the qun.

It’s official canon that there are cats living in Skyhold so please imagine:

one of the cats somehow getting into the war room and just plopping itself down right in the middle of all those carefully placed markers and turning the organized map into absolute chaos because a nice sunbeam was shining on the table.

cats sleeping on the inquisitor’s throne (or alternatively clawing it to pieces)

cats in the infirmary lifting people’s spirits and keeping the injured warm

cats snuggled up beside Storvacker when she’s in Skyhold

someone making little inquisition uniforms for the cats to make them honorary inquisition members. The cats just fall over and refuse to move when they’re forced to wear the uniforms and Skyhold is left with a bunch of immobile, angry cats lying on the ground and twitching their tails. Later it’s decided that the cats will just wear inquisition collars instead

each cat having at least ten names because everyone calls them something different leading to some confusion and in one extreme instance, a duel over what one cat should be called

In celebration of that anniversary and the game that gave us our first trans character, here is a prompt list - and dates - for any who would like to participate! All sorts of creative content is accepted so long as they are not A/I generated. (See examples below)

The mod isn't from the Americas, so due to timezone differences, there may be a delay in reblogging people's works. Either way I will not reblog the moment that it's posted in order to screen properly. Posts will be queued between 30mins-1hr apart, if there are multiple entries being submitted at the same time. Didnt think much of it at first, until he saw Don redying his toupee in a sink using temporary dye which is when he realised "mon dieu is this guy serious?"

Is a little concerned, because Don just looks upset 24/7 (his eyeliner keeps smudging so he looks tired)

However, he is just letting Don do his own thing since he seems pretty happy with himself

Von Kaiser:

Since being the oldest member of the WBVA means he has seen fuck all go down, Dons sudden cosmetic change was just kinda there, Kaiser didnt mind it nor did he really care💀

Told Don to get better fucking eyeliner because his kept smudging and it was annoying Kaiser

Thinks Don is just going through a phase so he is letting him brood it out until it washes over
