It’s official, I’ve finished creating my Studio Ghibli Watch List for working on my Disenchanted AU
Castle of Cagliostro
Nausicaa valley of the wind
Castle in the Sky
My neighbor Totoro
Kiki’s delivery service
Porch Rosso
Whisper of the Heart
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
The Cat Returns
Howl’s Moving Castle
Ponyo
Secret world of Arrietty? (Just once, the books were better.  I haven’t read them, but I should.  They definitely should have used the Indian Kid instead of Sho/Shawn the movie has good music and visuals though)
From up on Poppy Hill, visually pleasing just not interested in the long lost relative related plot
The Wind Rises
The Tale of Princess Kaguya, this was really helpful for my canon divergent rewrite Ducktales AU Karass
When Marnie Was there, Tftoml! Morgan’s character is inspired by Anna Sasaki.  The other characters that form her personality is Tulip Olsen from Infinity Train and Masha from Baba Yaga’s assistant.  The movie’s also visually stunning and has good music.
Finally the latest one, The boy and the Heron inspired by How do you live and it somehow has the same plot for my AU, The Fairytale of my life

Saw the boy and the heron
Thoughts:
A good movie, slow start but solid follow through. A handful of visually stunning sequences. At times it felt a little disorganized or contrived, though. A lot of themes and concepts about death and war and such but at times felt lacking in follow through with them. Very possible that like cultural concepts or dialogue got lost in translation though idk

Superfan's Short Movie Reviews: "The Boy and the Heron"
It goes without saying that Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favorite filmmakers. So, when I heard that he was doing a new movie, I knew I wasn't going to miss it for the world. Now that I have seen it, all I can say is... Good lord, he's done it again.
This film is another masterpiece from the legendary master of Japanese animation. With stunning visuals, layered characters, and a deep story that's as personal as it is emotional, this beautiful work of art deserves to be experienced.
