you see how the ALT button obscures the text? This is what every post with this setup looks like on mobile; on desktop, the button is more see-through until you hover over it, but not so on phone! While you can tap to open the image, it's an extra step (and then the image has to load...) and it's frustrating to do for, say, every single image in a web weaving post. What you as the post author can do instead...

BAM! Now the text is legible from the get-go, and still has ALT text for accessibility. All I did was added a little white space in the bottom left corner. and it only took about 2 minutes on my phone! I am. gently begging people to do this

First of all, bitch, where did I ever say anything about "eroticizing inferiority"? Like, be fucking for real. Show me the receipts. Because unless you’re reading between lines that don’t exist, nothing in my post said anything about power dynamics, submission, or “inferiority.” It sounds like you’re projecting some judgmental bullshit that I didn’t even invite into the conversation. So let’s start there—check yourself before you come into my space twisting my words to fit your weird little agenda.

Second of all, and I mean this with every ounce of sincerity, shut the fuck up. Genuinely, if you don’t like what you see, don’t interact. It’s that simple. Not everyone has to match your narrow idea of what shifting is “supposed” to be. Shifting isn’t some gated community where you get to play security guard and decide who’s allowed in. So do us all a favor, take that rigid-ass energy, and keep it to yourself, bitch.

So let’s talk about this “ruining shifting” nonsense you pulled out of nowhere. Bitch, the only thing “ruining” anything is people like you, stomping into conversations uninvited and acting like you’re the gatekeeper of how others should experience their desires. You’re clinging to this imaginary rulebook about what’s “appropriate” for shifting as if that makes you morally superior, but all it does is make you look insecure, judgmental, and way too invested in other people’s business. This will be a long response forgive me.

I ideologically disagree with them and their stance on fiction. I believe their insistence for nuance while not being nuanced themself is infuriating and troubling. I believe fiction can depict any heavy or sensitive subject but is deserving of criticism for however the subject is portrayed as. I do not believe harassment or censorship is an appropriate response to it. I believe there are instances where fiction has affected reality and usually reflect the values of the environment and time period it was created in. I'm autistic so i know how fictional portrayals can affect the attitudes for how others treat Autism: for better or for worse. If a dark subject has been portrayed as romantic despite it not being so for years, decades - it will inevitably affect reality. Like how Navobov’s Lolita was treated by the public. Trying to say otherwise for the sake of fanfiction discourse is ignorant.

My take is if you ship incest or pedophilia/child x adult and go on about how hot it is, you're fucking weird and I recommend you don't interact with minors if you openly identify as a proshipper. That's really it and it's still a hard feat for proshippers to not do, especially from adults who should honestly know better. That would consider me an anti or an "proshipper" depending on who you ask because I don't want proshippers dead or doxxed. But just consider, I don't like proshippers.

The community has a pattern for ignoring racist content because of the argument “fiction is not reality”. People of color and other marginalized people were kicked out of proshipper circles for disliking racist or nazi art. Proshippers have called others who don't like RPF of real minors “antis”, so believe it or not, they also change definitions on a whim. They talk about AO3 as though it's a beacon of anti-censorship, while the site goes on to censor fics with "Free Palestine" tags. I believe comparing fictional shipping discourse to the subjugation and injustice of marginalized groups in order to defend those ships is highly disgusting and insensitive. derailing serious political discussions to bring up antis shows how little some people actually understand oppression to think it's comparable. comparing antis to cops and authoritarian institutions is disgusting. using the pink triangle to compare the abuse and mass-murder of queer people in the Holocaust to shipping incest or pedophilia is in poor taste AT BEST.

It's not just fanfiction, it's a type of behavior that people in fandom ignore and celebrate. Pardon me if I think they are annoying and insufferable at the very least and I don’t want to talk to them. This is why I dislike proshippers. That is why I have the “Proships DNI”. Thanks.

If the parents of the children dont want their kids to see certain content there are plenty of parental controls on damn near every device/app store that will give them the ability to block that type of stuff from their kids veiw! When I first got into the fandom (late) I was really disappointed by the design homogeny for the characters, even more so to find out that artists who drew/wrote a character 'wrong' are fandom policed to meet fandom standards, or just an individual's personal standard

Podcast media is so unique in how much is left to visual interpretation, and it was clearly intentional to leave character appearances/traits as vague as possible to allow diverse interpretations.

Stop demanding a race/religion/body type/sexuality expression/whatever for a character from artists, it's THEIR artwork and it's a fucking fictional podcast

Someone isn't racist or fatphobic or ableist or ANYTHING just because they drew an under-described fictional guy in a way YOU didn't like. Stop watering down horrifically hateful views to 'you disagreed with my opinion of how a fictional character should be drawn ur fundamentally evil >:('

If you don't like the way someone interpreted a character, ignore them or block them---leave them alone; if you want a character done in a certain way do it yourself, commission someone to do it your way, or look for someone who is OPEN to requests.
