Can you please spoil the dryad storm for me? I loved the first two books, hated the rest of the them (they were so bad and made me very angry) but I am very curious how it ends. Do her and Yvan live HEA or does she unalive herself fighting the true icaral Vogal?

Oh boy, this was a doozy. Sorry this took me 2 weeks to finish. Laurie doesn't know how to tighten up her books and I was only listening while I was at work.

So yes, short answer, Ellorene does get her HEA with Yvan and Vogal is the Icaral of the prophecy.

Long answer (!!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!), a good 45 percent of the book is spent on Teireney's love triangle which resolves itself by having two of her potential mates just straight up vanish from the story with little to no explanation.

When the final conflict does take place, Ellorene one shots Falen Bane and Luka's ghost appears to Ellorene to tell her that the power she needs to defeat Vogal is inside of her, to which the answer to what that means turns out to be her and Yvan's unborn child which they had conceived literally that very same day.

They take down Vogal in mid-tier battle and then spend the last 25 percent of the book trying to restore the natural world that has been desiccated by Vogal while they all sat around in the Forest for a month.

The last chapter is spent running through the entire life experiences of the next generation through the POV a wholey new character, in an effort to show that real progress has taken place. Hinting that Tiereny's daughter whom she has with Ellorene's cousin, Oremiere, is the next Black Witch because she has Ellorene's and her Grandmother's face.

Ellorene and Yvan move to a forest where the trees grow by exposure to heat, which they have magically bonded to as Feykin, and raise their daughter. Ellorene becomes an apothecary and Yvan a physician. Oh and they adopt a little Icaral boy and name him Lukas.

Sorry for the misspelled names. I do audiobooks only so I only have guesses as to the spelling.

My current read! The Black Witch by Laurie Forest .

It has held my attention all the way through and I can’t wait to read the next one which is currently sitting in my mailbox (I need to go grab it).

It’s been sad seeing how mean everyone is towards each other in this book but interesting to watch the characters grow and learn. I’m curious to see if the romance part grows because in Wandfasting, the first prequel, it was the main focus. We’ll see I guess!

I will say I hope we see more of the magic system in the next book.
