as for my day, it was really good!!!! i visited my parents today, we went out to dinner at this really nice backwoods restaurant! they had really delicious seafood and it was run on a farm, so they had a whole garden out back with a bunch of farm animals to go look at, plus i got to meet two of the restaurant cats and they were soooo sweet 🥺 one of them jumped up on the railing whenever i walked by because it wanted me to pet it and i just ughrsdghsrgfh kitties 💗

“Hey guys” Mia said softly as she rested the camera up on the dresser and put her earrings on in the mirror before she said. “Today is day 2 in Hawaii technically” she breathed “and we are all getting dressed to go to the aquarium here. Which I am excited for” she told them with a bright smile. “I am wearing this sundress” she told them turning in it a bit for them to see the back of it before she adjusted the front. “I brought a lot of these. It’s warm but everyday there’s like a nice breeze and I keep leaning to sundress because of it” she chuckled. “So, I am happy about that” she said softly “I think the boys are playing pool while they wait for me and my bestie to get ready” she said. Mia grabbed some of her braids from each side of her head, gathering a small cluster by her temples and bring them together in the back, tying them in a small knot to keep the bulk of it out of her face.

“Yesterday, we got in. We got settled. I took a nap” she said resting her hand over her chest for a moment before she grabbed her bottle of Chanel perfume and she spritzed some over her. “We all freshened up much later, redressed and ate food and played uno” she said with a smirk. “Uno is like our thing” she said with a shrug. “I think we watched a movie” she said with another shrug “I don’t remember because I was of course, sleep” she said chuckling as her hands combed through the length of her braids. “So, yeah, I didn’t vlog yesterday outside of a little airport footage which I don’t know if I am going to insert or not” she sighs.

“But yeah like I said earlier, today we are going to go to the aquarium, so let’s go” she said with a bright smile as she placed her hand over the camera lens.

“Hey guys” Mia sung out happily on the camera “it’s such a pretty day” she said with a grin as she turned the camera panning the backyard of the villa slowly. “I absolutely love it” she said as she stood in her robe resting against the sliding glass door, face fresh and teeth pearly white. “So today is” she paused “I don’t even know what today is” she chuckled. “It’ll be somewhere on the screen” she told them as it popped up slowly. “Today we are going to lounge by the beach get our feet in some sand and what not” she told them as she moved back towards her and Tyler’s room. “It’s warm out and it feels really good, there’s a nice breeze so we said why not” she told them. “Tyler is taking his shower” she told them, sitting them up on the vanity and she sat down for a moment resting her head against her hand. “After he gets out the shower and we all get dressed, we should be grabbing a bite and then headed to the beach” she told them. “We have been here for… this the third day we’ve been here” she told them holding up 3 fingers.

“Yesterday we went to the aquarium and after we left, we ended up going out for a nice little dinner. The food was amazing” she said. A lot of other things happened at that dinner, but it didn’t take away from the day as a whole. “After we ate and got back to the Villa everyone crashed” she shrugged as she leaned back in the chair, she was sitting in. “I didn’t want to record because usually when we are with our friends, we discuss our personal lives and relationships a lot” she told them reasonably. “And today we just decided to chill and lounge, no real tourist attraction stuff” she said as Tyler walked into the room behind her in nothing more than a towel. She leaned forward and placed her hand over the lens with a smile.

“We are on the beach and we are walking down this little path towards this food spot” Mia said straddling behind everyone else in her sandals. She turned the camera towards the eating spot “it’s right over there” she said pointing it out for them before she turned the camera back to herself. “It isn’t a very far walk from where we were originally” she told them as she balled some of her dress into her hand, holding it up. “Hopefully the place is good, so far we have not been disappointed with any of the food” she acknowledged “I will say I can’t enjoy any of the seafood dishes which have looked amazing but that does not take away from the food here overall” she told him happily.

The video speeds up to the couples reaching the small restaurant and ordering food off the menu. It shows them receiving the food and finding a small seat near the place to sit down and enjoy the food.

“So, I ordered a strawberry mango froze drink, Tyler got a frozen lemonade” she said showing the drinks “Nova got an iced green tea and Aaron got a coke” she pointed out easily. “I got 4 coconut shrimp” she said pointing to them “that came with a little dipping sauce” she said pointing that out as well. “And essentially I got a pulled pork, with a little extra sauce on the side” she told him easily. “Tyler got chicken wings in a barbecue agave like sauce” she said told them “with some waffle fries” she told them. “Nova is having some grilled chicken over brown rice with avocado and mild salsa” she said panning the camera to her meal “and Aaron got wings like Tyler did” she said before she told them.

The video plays a montage of them traveling back towards the beach area after eating, Mia shows them both her and Nova’s shave ice and fruit bowl as they walked beside each other. It also shows them arriving to the area of the beach they wanted to rest on and them following each other towards the area of the beach they were going to sit on.

Mia sits the camera up on a makeshift prop as it shows them now in a fast-paced clip setting up their towels and blankets to sit down before it slows back down.

Mia folds the camera up and eats from her shaved ice bowl at the same time, she licked her lips and sat the spoon down before she said “so we are now on the beach” softly as she turned the camera panning it around the area around them, making sure she left Nova, Tyler, and Aaron out of it. “It is so beautiful” she said to them cutely before she turned the camera back to herself “so I am going to finish my shaved ice and enjoy the beach. I will check in with you guys a little later” she told them before she placed her hand over the lens.

[ Friday, April 3rd, 2020 ]

“Hey guys” Mia said softly to the camera lens “we are on our way towards the Honolulu zoo” she said to them as they road in a Jeep down a stretch of road. “We are staying in Waikiki, that is where the villa is however Honolulu is only about a 12-minute drive from us, so we figured why not check their zoo out” she said with a smile. “I’ll check back in with you guys when we get there” she said.

The video rolls into a montage of them at the zoo, clips show footage of Aaron, Tyler, and Nova as they walked into the place, showing the large sign. It shows them as they all paid to enter the zoo and got their wrist bands placed on their wrist. There are clips of the map of the zoo that Tyler held up for Mia and even some of the signs and statues in the zoo itself. It shoes a clip of the group grabbing water to stay hydrated before they started and Mia getting a small portable fan and sticking it in the black Chanel bookbag she was wearing.

Mia stood in front of the Flamingos and she showed the birds on the camera “fun fact Mia’s favorite zoo animal are Flamingos” she told them easily. “I love these things” she told them softly “I don’t know why” she chuckled “I don’t know why my favorite color is yellow, but they are my favorite” she told them all. With the camera still focused on the birds Mia said, “babe what’s your favorite animal?” curiously. Tyler stood off to the side and she listened as he responded “he said Lion” she told him them all. “You Nova?” curiously.

You could faintly hear in the background Nova saying “Hippos” and Mia smirked as she turned the camera to herself and she said “she picked Hippos” before she asked, cupping her hand over her face to get the sun out of her eyes. “You Aaron?” she breathed quietly. She looked at the man as he contemplated before her said “Zebras” and she nodded her head at him “I like Zebras too; I like how unique they are among the other animals in the world” she breathed out with a smile on her face.

The video speeds up as they walked around the massive zoo and the video only slowed down on the exhibits that correlated with which animals everyone chose as their favorites. After each stop of an animal favorite the video speeds up and again and shows them as they made their way around the entire zoo, taking a few stops for Mia and Nova here and there, along with bathroom breaks in between. The video slows down and is panned on Mia once more.

Mia huffed gently as she rested her hand on her full hip “I loved the zoo it was beautiful” she told them “they had a picnic lawn area that was so visually appealing. Had we known about the zoo and us maybe coming to it beforehand I would have begged Ty to have lunch on the lawn because it was gorgeous” she said as she moved to grab his hand. “Maybe next time, right?” Mia asked Tyler cutely.

Tyler walked alongside his wife, listening to her as she spoke to the camera, vlogging. He smirked to himself a little, he liked that she really enjoyed it so much. It was good to see her in her element doing something that she loved on a regular basis. As she spoke to him, Tyler looked at her and he smiled, "yeah, next time babe," he told her easily. "Maybe we can come back after our little nugget is born and is old enough," he said thoughtfully.

Mia listened to him and she smirked at the camera easily “I would love that so much” she said back to him, still sporting a wide grin on her face as she held the camera up as they walked back to the car. She looked back up to him loving for a moment, just staring with a grin.

[ Saturday, April 4th, 2020 ]

Mia cleared her throat a bit and she said “you guys look what Tyler just surprised me with” she said softly, a sniffle leaving her as she panned the camera on the massive painting of herself. “We are currently in the Honolulu Museum of Art” she told them, ”it was on the itinerary” she told them softly as she moved around the painting showing them. “That was really before we knew Tyler had a piece in it” she said “we all really wanted to come sees, and I was surprised with this” she told them. “I love it so much; you guys have no idea how hard I cried” she chuckled lightly as she backed up slowly showing the full thing once more. “He told me this is a print of it, and the original canvas is home guys” she said her voice laced with heavy emotions. “So, he’s going to put it up wherever I’d like it in the home, I can’t wait” she breathed happily.

The video slides to series of photos of the painting and the photos Mia and Tyler took in front of the painting, Tyler’s face blurred out of the photo on purpose. Before it ends with a photo of the plaque next to the painting, they gave you all the details on it.

The video then shows a montage of a few pieces of artwork in the building.

Mia sat in the backyard of the villa and the camera was set up with her perfectly centered in the lens. She looked out at the water for a moment before she said “today is April 5th” to the camera with a smile. “We have an afternoon flight back home” she said. “I loved the trip” she said to them nodding her head “I am almost sad to be going back home but I miss my baby King” she said with a chuckle. “All in all, I think this was an amazing trip, much needed break from our current reality. By our I mean all four of us” she told the camera. “I think my favorite part was seeing painting of me up in the museum” she said, smiling as her eyes grew glossy from the thought. She chuckled a little as a tear rolled down her cheek and she said “I loved it” she told them softly. “And I without a doubt no I married the man that was made especially for me” she told them. “He’s so selfless, caring, and loving. There has been bumps in the road no doubt, no one’s relationship is perfect. But I just… I love him” she shrugged gently. “He made this trip so special, that painting was so special, every day I am with him is special” she told the camera looking at it now. “I cannot wait for to see how special he makes parenthood for us both” she breathed softly another smile gracing her lips before Tyler moved into the frame tilting her head up and kissing her lips though all you saw was his hand and his lips touching hers.

Time for my dears

/From May to June, I got about 7 flights, crossing 5 countries – Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea and Thailand. Welcome back, a crazy up-in-the-air life../

I finished ES at the end of May, and out of Singapore for a month before my new start with Rhenus. Spending one evening till midnight with Ky Tran, cHien and SL for a dinner. It was so much fun and comfortable talking about everything, work life and love life.

Then a night flight going to Taiwan for 3 week holiday with my darlin :).

I was super tired and slept during a couple of days.

I could always find myself convenient, relaxing and happy to be in Taoyuan. We did hiking at the weekend and walking after 10pm. The weather in Taiwan turned to be perfect of light sun in the morning and chilling at night.

Friend bonding time with pot-luck up to 10 people at home, a visit to Vicky’s new house and few short trips to Taipei catching my bestie Sansan are the best memories when I was in Taoyuan this time.

The next week, we went to Jeju for our 1 year anniversary.

A shaking flight made me sick when we landed off. Glam grabbed my hand tightly and kept saying it is alright.

We used all public transportation for our travel and eat local food – that is what I love so much being on the new road with my love partner. The first day, we stayed at a small homestay in the East of Jeju to climb up the mountain the day after that. Such as rainy day though! We could not wander a lot after a big seafood lunch, so be back the hostel and slept whole evening. We treated ourselves with BBQ pork – Korean traditional BBQ at a neighbor store in a rainy night. Feeling warm like home.. Little drama on television before going to sleep. I felt we were a Korean old couple staying at home and sleeping early during rainy seasons.. Actually, it is also a lovely idea..

Still raining in the early morning.. We got grumpy of each other because of the weather. He kept holding my hand during our ways to the mount without any words from both of us. Seongsan Iluchung is hugely gorgeous. And somehow, it played a link connecting us again.. We could not be upset or crazy more in front of fabulous nature. We talked with an Indian couple on the top of the mount when asking for a photo shot. Then during the way down, we got back to be crazy hyperactive couple as usual. He bought me a big waffle ice cream. Just a simple thing made my day brighter and happier..

We checked out Seongsan town and took a bus to Seowipo – the town of harbor. Such a nice hostel with rooftop and cozy decoration. Discovering a small mom-made kimbab place made us super cheerful. We fulfilled starving monsters by simply tasty lunch. After a nap, we had quick instant noodles at the rooftop and then hit a long trail about 5 km along a park. It is always great, safe and joyful to have your partner walking around with you in a beautiful sunset :). We arrived the signature bridge in Jeju at sunset, listening the waves, catching the sky. Such a peaceful happy evening..

We indulged our stomachs with so much food, but nothing can compare to the last night when I got drunk for Soju. Such a funny shameful night haha.. Luckily I was with my man who always protects me. After a last long walk to see lighthouses and huge moon, we decided to treat ourselves with a bid feast. We ordered seafood sprout and Soju. I was totally fucked up by that drink with a cheery face! Glam needed to carry me home and I kept say non-sense things on the way haha (that is what he told me!). And I ended up to cry like a babe during an hour on the bed. He was so worried about me but I knew it is normal for my tears when I am crazy of alcohol haha.

And it came the date of 9th, 2017. Our 1 year anniversary. It is still unbelievable for me :)..

We took flight back Taiwan and celebrated our day with twin panda T-shirts as a teenager couples. Then a long night walk together in little chilling Taoyuan night..

Taiwan always brought me happiness and cheers with friends and my love. We spent time with Martin, Jenny and everyone at H.O.P.

Glam was sick after Korea trip. I am grateful I am here and I could take care him <3. I cooked porridge and we were lazy at home all the time he is out of work. I also took a short bus going to Taipei visiting my bestie Sansan before leaving, for here birthday celebration as well.

Before going back Vietnam, I cook a couples food for Glam in the fridge. It made me so happy to do it :)..

/Happy family time./

I spent almost 2 weeks in Vietnam with my parents, siblings and my angels. They are super hyperactive now haha.

My parents are getting older and older.. All my wish is the best healthy and happiness for them.. One day, I read a sentence – ‘If your parents can stay 20 years more, you can only see them 20 times more as well’.. I am trying my best to save up and come back my home 2 times every year. I know my mom and dad miss me much and always worry about me. I am just homeless and accepted to be homeless few more years. Still find myself on every step I take. I hope I could be able to come back Vietnam one day early, with a strong soul and a simple happy full life :).

My network circle is so limited now. I only met up SL and KTr for my Vietnam time. Feeling blessed to have my best friends who always have time for me even though it was midnight at the airport. I just need to devote whole my life for few people I love, I respect and I appreciate for..

Positano (+ Naples bonus stop)

Ah, almost 3 months after the fact, I have finally gotten around to writing about the last stop on my Euro trip! I still need to make a huge post about Amsterdam, but I’ll get there! First, Positano:

Maddie, Mac and I took the train from Florence to Naples, where we built in a few hours to stop over and experience some Neapolitan pizza :P

L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele - home of the pizza to end all pizzas. I can’t even describe how good this pizza was. I’m still dreaming about it. I would go back to Naples again just to have this pizza and bounce. Made famous by its rather-long mention in Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love, this place lives up to its major hype. Thin YET doughy crust?! Didn’t know it was possible. Double mozzarella? Yes please. I’d probably marry this pizza if I could (sorry Karel).

After we worshipped our pizzas, we headed to Positano by car and checked into our Airbnb. We stayed in a super cute guest house up on the hill where a local bus would stop once every hour and take people down to the town at sea level. Even though it was a bit of a trek and we would pray that the bus would arrive at its scheduled time every hour, staying further up on the hill was a nice change of pace and much more affordable than staying seaside!

Once settled, our first stop into town was the famous Franco’s Bar, which ended up becoming our temporary home over the next couple days. It is the cutest, most vacation-y beach bar with THE BEST cocktails, made by our new bartender bestie named Carmine (well, we were besties in our minds). As a bonus, the bar has an incredible view of the town and the ocean (I took way too many pics). Our favorite beverages were the Dolce Vida and Carmine’s dirty martini. YUUUUM!

After a good number of drinks, we had dinner just up the street at Ristorante Bruno, which was pretty solid but mostly great for its location and outdoor seating. We were graced by the presence of a beautiful sunset, some seafood pasta, and a local street-performing band, who played “Despacito” per our request (thanks guys).

On day 2, we took a day trip to Capri! There are many ways to get to Capri from Positano, but we chose to take a small private boat with 8 other guests, which was 100% the way to go. Everyone on board was super nice, especially an older couple from New Zealand who were so cute and friendly and living their best lives.

On our way to the island, we stopped into a couple small grottos and got to swim in some very blue water!

Made it!

We had about 4 hours on the island, so we first hiked up the hill (’twas quite a hike indeed) and had lunch (and Aperol Spritz, of course) with a view at Ristorante Panorama.

Next, we wandered about the town a bit, got gelato, and hung out on the beach.

On the boat ride back, we saw a ton of jellyfish and were too afraid to swim :X but the views from the water were beautiful and we got back to Positano just in time for sunset.

We had dinner back in Positano at this cute lil restaurant called La Taverna Del Leone. If you can believe it, I started getting a bit tired of pizza and pasta so I went for some vegetables and fresh fish. It was really good! Then I think we went back to Franco’s for more beverages... classic ;)

For our last day in Italy, we went down what felt like a bajillion stairs to have a nice pizza breakfast on a secluded beach just down from our Airbnb. After breakfast, we took a boat over to the center of town and went to another small beach, where we laid out all day on beach chairs, read books and mags, drank more spritzes, and relaxed. So lovely!

For our final dinner, we went to Chez Black, a Positano institution right off the beach in the center of town. We finally tried limoncello! And then to top it all off, we went back to Franco’s for one last Dolce Vida ;)

And that was it for Positano and Italy as a whole! One of my favorite European countries for sure - Italy has it all. This blog is almost finished, wow! Just a few more posts left... bear with me people ;) Ciao for now!

It’s been a long and busy year so far with my jewelry business. You know what all work and no play is? Boring! I decided to kick summer off with vacation and I was adamant about it being a bucket list trip. For the past two years my cousin and I talked about a dream trip to Iceland. So when one of my besties sent a group text about her interest in taking a trip there this year I knew that was a sign. Then when I heard that the Icelandic soccer team would be making their debut in the World Cup while we were there, I knew it was definitely a “meant to be trip.”

Most people don’t really think about a vacation in Iceland, for me all it took was seeing some beautiful pictures of the lush landscapes and I was sold. Not only are Icelandic people some of the most pleasant people on the planet, but their country is out of this world (literally), just pure beauty from the street art in Reykjavik to the amazing waterfalls to the best tasting vodka to wondrous things their water does to your hair (curly hair girls Iceland would be your BEST FRIEND). Enough about how wonderful this country is, I’m just going to jump right into it and give you the details and tips about travels to this beautiful land.

Hotel

Since we traveled with a group of five of us, we opted for an apartment suite style hotel right in Reykjavik called Reykjavik4you. The hotel had very nice accommodations and was spacious enough for five people with two bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen and living room area. We even had 2 balcony views of the city, which was an added plus. The cost of the hotel was $2,500 for our five-day stay, so we each shelled out $500 a piece. This hotel was the perfect location and walking distance to everything you’ll need during your stay. Definitely book your hotel first and book it early. Iceland is becoming quite a destination spot and hotel accommodations sell out fast. We actually booked our hotel first then booked our flight later.

Getting Around

You can rent a car, but we opted to walk most of the time since our hotel was in a good location. Plus you get a chance to see the beautiful street art on buildings throughout Reykjavik. Taxicabs and buses are also options as well since they’re no Ubers in Iceland.

Food/Dining

Dining out is very expensive in Iceland. We did pack snacks in our luggage to bring on excursions and to snack in between meals. So if you decide not to bring snacks, you can find the nearest Icelandic supermarket and get snacks, the prices aren’t so bad there. On an average expect to spend about $85-$150/day in dining out while you’re there. On average we spent about $100/day per person.

Here are some of the highlights of our favorite food spots we ventured to:

Noodle Station

My husband and bff went back to this spot twice while we were there. I must say their noodle soup was flavorful and overall just really good. They also have meat and vegetarian options. The price wasn’t too bad either.

Braud & Co.

Be prepared from fresh and hands down damn good baked goods. The smell alone is enough to eat more than just one. Honestly even the graffiti art on the building makes it hard to just walk by and NOT stop in!

El Santo Mexican

I know what you’re thinking why go to Iceland and eat Mexican food. Well, the truth is the variety of types of restaurants is plentiful in Reykjavik. This spot was great for our group since we had a mix of meat eaters, pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans.

Reykjavik Fish & Chips

Okay, we had some really good fish and chips in Reykjavik. This spot has a really delicious seafood soup. They even have various dipping sauces for your fish, each sauce is an extra charge.

Bryggjan Brugghus

We actual watched Iceland’s debut in the World Cup at this popular brunch spot. If you decide to brunch here, definitely make reservations and tasting their variety of beer is a must.

Kaia Kffihus

What drew us to this spot was, of course, the Marley decor of the building. When we walked in we realized that it was a coffee shop below and rum bar on the upper level. Still, a very chill spot to grab a drink and relax.

Dillon’s Whiskey Bar

This whiskey bar definitely has a variety of whiskey, plus the locals were really cool. My husband enjoyed the wings here as well. Live music is also available.

Attractions/Tours

Okay now it’s time to get into the good stuff, you know the whole reason we planned the trip and to explore this beautiful country. Now as first timers we opted to book tours with tour groups, but you can rent a car and see all of these places as well for free (except for The Blue Lagoon).

The Blue Lagoon

The #1 reason people visit Iceland is to see this beautiful and wondrous man-made lagoon (yes it is man-made). As soon as you embark upon it the sight of lava rocks is enough to “woosah” your mind. Reservations are a must, so be sure to book your tickets before going. There are 3 types of tickets, we opted for the middle one and included our bus transportation. Now the lagoon is not located in Reykjavik it’s actually closer to the airport, so it might be a good idea to visit the lagoon on day one when you arrive in Iceland. Here are some tips for first timers:

You will need to take a shower prior to entering the lagoon. Don’t worry the showers are private stalls and have dispensers with soap, shampoo, and conditioner.

If you want to dine at the Lava Restaurant there be sure to purchase the premium ticket.

They have 2 types of mask that you can try while you relax that are included with the ticket price. One is a silica mask and the other is an algae mask. I did have a little bit of a sensitive reaction to the silica mask, so if you have sensitive skin I would do a sensitivity check on your inner arm prior to applying to your skin.

The water is nice and warm and makes your skin very soft which brings me to the number 5….

DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR WET IN THE LAGOON. I’m so serious, while the water is great for the skin it’s terrible for your hair and will dry it out tremendously. I tied mine up into a sloppy bun and I was good to go.

The products are amazing but pricey. You can try out the lotion which is GREAT and the conditioner as well.

South Coast Tour

This tour gives you a tour of glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls. Remember you can rent a car and see the spots for free, but we opted to do a guided tour since we didn’t know what to expect. Also, be sure to bring some kronos, some of these spots have restrooms, but you will need to pay 200-300 kronos (approximately $2-$3) to use the restroom.

Skogafoss

This 197 ft. tall waterfall was purely amazing. Climbing 400 steps to the top then standing at the top looking down at that waterfall was just beautiful beyond words.

Reynisfjara

The famous black sand beach is not only known for its beauty but also its dangerous waves. With caves and basalt columns (trolls), the black pebbles and rocks made wonderful “souvenirs” for my little one.

Solheimajokull

This glacier was probably the most memorable site for me. Use in a few of Game of Thrones episodes (Beyond The Wall), the road leading to this glacier was actually built and paid for by the Game of Thrones crew. Sitting between two volcanoes this glacier is one of the most rapidly melting ones. For those interested, there are glacier climbing tours available.

Seljalandsfoss

One of the most popular waterfalls, this stop is probably best to do last on your day of exploring. Walking behind the waterfall was a bit slippery, but well worth it. Experiencing the water rushing down in front of you gives you such peace.

Golden Circle Tour

This tour allows you to see the beautiful treasures of the island from geysirs to waterfalls to country’s national park.

Thingvellir

Iceland’s historical national park, the geology here really rocks!

Gullfoss

This water from this waterfall is pretty much fed by one of the biggest glaciers. At 105 feet tall I climbed this waterfall until I damn near kissed it!

Geysir

The famous hot springs in southwest Iceland. This geothermal area shoots boiling water about 65 feet high ever 4-9 minutes. Just stand and wait for it with your camera handy!

Reykjavik

The city of Reykjavik is just a beauty of its own. Not only is it super clean, but the street art on the buildings showcases the pure talent of local artisans. Even the local shops sell products from local entrepreneurs and crafters.

The Halligrimskirkja church building has an amazing structure. I think we stood and just snapped different pictures of it for about 10 minutes.

Shopping

Word of advice, you will see very trendy and cool Icelandic winter gear, so be sure to bring extra money to take away some of these hot fashions. I fell in love with the winter coats from 66 North. In addition, the hair care and skin care products are the BEST, hands down and you’ll want to walk away with some to take back home. The vodka here is some of the best in the world since it’s naturally filtered like their water so it’s very smooth. If you plan on taking any vodka back home wait until you get to the airport on departure day and purchase it duty-free there.

Random Tips & Advice:

The water is the best straight from the faucet, just bring a water bottle and fill up. There’s no need to purchase bottle water.

The water is good on your skin and hair. So good that I entered Iceland with straight hair and left with my naturally curly hair. All I had was water and conditioner and this was the result of Day 2 of my natural hair.

My money tips are if you are using your credit/debit card be sure to swipe and choose the option of completing the transaction in ISK. Banks do charge a fee for every transaction, so if you have a credit card that doesn’t charge like Capital One or Chase Sapphire.

Liquor is quite expensive in lceland.

Convert to the local currency at the airport.

Hopefully, if you choose to visit Iceland one day that these tips help you. Now I’m off to create some jewelry so that I can enjoy my next travel adventure.

3 Birthday Dinners

So literally for my birthday, I’m convinced that my friends & family want me to just eat a million calories. I didn’t want to eat all this food but what the hell, it was my birthday.

First birthday dinner: May 16th 10:00 pm. My best friend Denton always take me out the day before my birthday so we can bring the night in together. He opted this year to take me to The Smith and when I say the food was delicious its an understatement. I’ve been to the Smith before. It was actually the same restaurant we celebrated Brittnee’s 2017 birthday at. I ordered the same exact entrees as that day; shrimp & grits w/ a side of mac & cheese. I don’t know what it was but the food tasted 10 times better. The one thing that blew me away was the dessert. I wasn't sure what to get because they didn't have anymore of the “Birthday Cake” dessert. So i decided to get the “Sticky Toffee Pudding”. On a full stomach I was able to eat every bit of it, and this sugary delight was well worth the calories.

Second birthday dinner: May 17, my actual birthday. My besties Britt & Jaz decide to take me to the infamous Miss Lily’s. I had never been there so I was extremely excited. I ordered the West Indian Curried Shrimp w/ a side of Cod Fish Fritters. Everything was amazing. The shrimp had a nice amount of spice that complemented the roti so perfectly, and the cod fish fritters were fried to perfection. I have nothing but excellent things to say about this restaurant. The food was superb, the reggae music was lit, & the ambiance was EXCELLENT!

Third birthday dinner: June 26th lol. My family is so super last minute with everything we literally celebrated my birthday a whole month after. My family’s favorite place to eat is, Popei’s Clam Bar. It’s probably my absolute favorite place to dine. We’ve been going to this place so long we order things that aren’t even on the menu.

Both of the things I ordered were actually not on the menu. I started with an appetizer called the Shrimp Roll. Its basically flounder fish rolled, and stuffed with crab meat, shrimp, and scallops; and it's topped with a white creamy sauce. DELICIOUSSSSSSSSSS! Every bite literally melted in my mouth. I then followed with a combination plate with crab legs, garlic bay scallops, & a lobster tail. The combination plates are not on the menu. You have the choice to pick 3 different seafood entrees (lobster, scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams) any style you want for $35. If you want snow crab legs it is an additional $10. This option is well worth the money. My stomach was sooooo stuff, and I was able to take so much food home.

Disclaimer: The appetizer bread is better than Red Lobster biscuits, I swear!
