I love how psychologically they are completely different, but they all follow the same school of dress, and they all wear glasses. The three share the same style, extremely elegant and gothic.

It's only now that I realized that Caul and Alma are in a very similar pose.

The Bentham siblings are so rare
In DoDA, when the gang is going to visit miss Hawksbill, it is mentioned how rare it is that siblings are both peculiar, let alone that they are both ymbrynes.
So, their parents basically won the peculiar lottery three times in a row. They got an ymbryne, a demi-ymbryne, and another peculiar
Speaking of Myron, what is his peculiarity? I'm tempted to think that he's also a demi-ymbryne who couldn't transform anymore because of the torture by Caul, but we literally never find out. Do any of you have any hcs?

The Bentham siblings children
Tumblr media
My headcanons about these little kids are:
Jack was always outgoing, he was the leader in all the games and was always spoiled and reckless. He loved to bully his little sister. He is very intelligent and enjoys reading and talking with Myron, they both enjoy doing little experiments. Jack is very jealous and doesn't like to share his things.
Myron is the older brother (less than a year older than Jack), unlike Jack he is introverted, he always liked being with books more than people, he enjoyed Jack's company more than Alma's because she was too young to understand the subjects he and Jack liked to talk about. He was not aggressive towards his sister, but he knew what Jack did and never intervened. He ignored the bad things Jack did and was just as spoiled as his brother.
Alma is the little younger sister. Unlike her brothers, she was not as spoiled, and was shy when she was alone or with her brothers. but she is sociable and outgoing when she is with her friends like Isabel for example. She is afraid of Jack and if she can, she always stays as far away from him as possible. Myron is not that bad to her, but because he is always with Jack, Alma is not that close to him.

Big Bentham brothers headcannon incoming!
Firstly, I feel Bentham has a connection to Caul because he remembers who he used to be. Those special moments of connection he even knew he’d remember when they happened. He will never abandon one side for the other because he keeps clinging onto the hope that he can bring Jack back. Back when Caul was gathering support for his cause, he would be worried but think it would never go too far, this is just one of his flights of fancy, you know how he gets so attached to things. He’d never go so far to try this, he didn’t mean that, I know him, he’s a good person at heart, he’d never actually hurt me, he’s just trying to do what he thinks is right, he’ll snap out of it soon. Every other family connection has been severed or at the very least heavily eroded, and he craves that old feeling of collective joy, of lighthearted fun, that there used to be, as it’s the happiest thing he remembers of his earlier years
Those moments in childhood when Jack would stop taunting Alma, when they all agreed it was too much, and he could see that. He could see that. What he’s battling is the thought that he still sees it, but that he ignores it and keeps going. He knows it’s bad but he does it anyway. Evil. (But separately another phrase for that definition might be self harm, depending on how it’s directed.) He’ll never admit his brother is evil. He rejects the word. Bentham used to think he’d do anything for his cause, that he thought everything he did was for good in his mind, but maybe even Caul knows by now that’s not the case, he’s under no kind of good pretences, even for his own wellbeing.
At the core of it, Bentham will never stop trying to save his brother. That’s why he sticks by him, even to his detriment. By now, he’s only trying to save him from himself. His biggest weakness is the light he still sees in Caul’s empty eyes sometimes, or is he seeing things? That childlike wonder that he still nurtures in his collections and his Panloopticon, he wants to see that in Caul again, then maybe everything will be ok. He’ll sacrifice himself to try and change his mind, and he’ll sacrifice others to pursue the thought.
He knows it’s gone too far, but his soul is tied to his brother’s, they’re inseparable, even after Abaton collapses they’re bound together. No matter how deep Caul goes, Bentham has no choice now but to follow him. All he wants is good, and only at the end does he finally realise what he’s doing. He tries finally to achieve some level of agency and power after both of his siblings seemingly show him how they’re too far gone (Caul in that hes gone to Abaton and betrayed him again and Alma that she still doesn’t like him or want to let him free) as he reaches out and grabs his last hope, physical power to maybe defeat Caul and show himself to be worthy of both their validation. Not simply agreement with him but validating his strength (of will and body) to kill Caul and his desire to see Jack again and validating his ability for redemption. He does end up helping to save peculiardom and turning fully towards the ymbrynes’ side, but it’s far too late, and for his everlasting hope he dies permanently attached to his brother’s legacy, with nothing much that is fully his own to speak of.

I have finished my first back to back reading of Charles Dickens' Hard Times (1854) -I was familiar with the whole plot and had read fragments and commentary on it before- and... what can I say?
In and of itself it seems like at the beginning it wants to be an industrial novel, but then Dickens ran out of interest (and knowledge) about it, and drifted into writing a drama that has little next to nothing of industrial other than some set dressing (and he removes a lot of the action to a estate outside Coketown! It doesn't even happen as a whole in Coketown!).
Like, hm, we have one industrialist that is raising his kids in a caricature of the already caricaturesque Benthamism. He has a best friend who is an industrialist as well, who boasts about how he pulled himself by his bootstraps all the time. But the plot is about Louisa, the daughter of the first, that he marries off to the second, and whom a gentry dude later on tries to seduce. She has several siblings but the only one that gets actual page time is the brother she loves and who is a pile of cow shit in the shape of a human being.
So, hm, then we have the working class characters. There's Sissy Jupe who lived with the circus and is adopted by the industrialist, kinda, she's like... an unpaid servant for board and food. She's cute and sweet. That's it for her character.
Then there's Stephen Blackpool, paragon of virtue, a factory worker. His story is actually mainly about how his wife is an alcoholic (implied) prostitute and he wished he could marry his also angelic neighbour Rachel, who is also a factory worker. We never once see or hear anything specific about their work and working conditions, and it is completely insubstantial to their lives that way, they have no complaints.
There's, hmm, the unions? As represented by one orator that somehow is the leader of the union despite not coming from or living in Coketown or being a factory worker at all, which, Charly, what? I repeat what? (I mean, it's also funny how condescending he is about workers who join unions, considering he himself couldn't come up with a better reason for Stephen to refuse joining other than... he made a promise to Rachel not to. Why, how, when? Dunno).
Stephen is soon absorbed into the plot of the pile of cow shit stealing money from his BIL and framing him for it. Basically most of the novel is concerned with Louisa, her love for her brother, her marriage and attempted seduction, and then with her brother's bank robbery, what he does to frame others, and his family's desperate race to ship him where the arm of the law can't reach him (which, of course the narrative wouldn't have wanted us to celebrate if it was anybody else of, ahem, inferior station. I was all the time going "I wish he rots in jail. I hope if he gets away that he gets the shit beat out of him in some dark alley). So, Charly, the industrial novel you were supposed to be writing?
Like, I'm fully aware I never liked Dickens and my dislike has grown with age, and I'm also fully aware that I'm extremely partisan of Elizabeth Gaskell, but the contrast between HT and N&S is so stark to me. Pick any significant character from one that has any parallel on the other, and Gaskell has done it more nuanced and with more pathos. Louisa and Margaret. Sissy and Bessy. Stephen and Nicholas. Tom and Frederick. Mrs. Sparsit/Mrs. Pegler and Mrs. Thornton. Gaskell also for obvious reasons shows such a better knowledge of the social, geographical and economical context of her story.
And it depresses me how much more accumulated fame and praise HT has over N&S (yes, I understand the circumstances. That doesn't solve my upset).

Those of y’all that have been in the mphfpc fandom long enough know that it’s been through, like… eras. There was a Millard spam era. A Hugh appreciation era. A where-the-hell-is-Fiona era. We are a radioactive isotope actively decaying and we have finally reached the state of obsessing over A. the Bentham siblings and B. ymbrynes. You know, the characters that pose more as vague plot devices than anything? Those guys. They’re the blorbos. Idk it’s just really silly to me but in a good way. Keep it up lol

Introducing Nakaumi, founded by the curiosity of the Pirate King
Tumblr media
Fandorm for @deaths-academy-of-combat (one piece fandorm)
Tumblr media
Nakaumi focuses mainly on Maritime combat and many students are adventures of the seas. The dorm color is Orange.
Most of the dorm members are either already Pirates, the next generation of it or just want to perfect some skills that are in need for a ship. hence why most dorm members wear a skull symbol somewhere.
Tumblr media
The Supervisor of the dorm is Shanaya Bane (@twsted-princess) who first found the current dorm and vice leader as they were much younger. Being as passionate about the sea on Erena came to her with her dreams of being one day one of the best Pirates, she couldn't say no to help her this way to acheive it. The Nakaumi students are a very colorfull chaotic combo so even if order is hardly that possible at least they can make their best out of them.
Erena Ryūjin (twst Luffy) is a dorm leader that doesn't seem like she keeps the authority well but in actuality she does do a good job to give everyone taskes and help them get closer to acheiving their dreams.
"Slice" (Twst Buggy the clown) Never shares his real name but aside having a circus show in the dorm, he often lurks behind Erena to make sure nobody bugs her, as well as is old friends with Shanaya
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of the dorm is located on a huge ocean... with many small building and a huge one in the middle serving as a base, the restaurant on it is often where dorm members in the morning eat together and discuss some dorm stuff... most students have their own little cottages and under the base is a underwater area for 1 v 1 battles as well as tons of small Facilities that some dorm members lead... like individual pirate crews as well as bars and entertainment... Slice as mentioned has his own circus show and often builds it up to give some a good break.... however it can get pretty dangerous as well. Most of the dorm has a Map to orient and outsiders are often very welcome given Erena likes to introduce others into her wacky adventures.

Uh, um… well… Alice Human Sacrifice [for science]
note: I dont know how the F this machine works, it's just a piece of questionable art
Imagine Myron as The White Rabbit. Yep, with big rabbit ears sticking out from under his classy cylinder. Beautiful. Love him so much. But lets get back to that damned song! (source of my childhood nightmares)
from here you'll see a combination of ыумукфд several english lyrics and direct translation from japanese. also i added some features from russian version of this song because:
I can
It's just good and carries different meanings and some kind of куаукутсуы references/ easter eggs
also i just realised that russian version is way more dark and creepy…
okay. after total decomposition it isn't a song anymore. just peaces of lyrics with my plot notes. sounds like bullshit but okay
Let's go!~
The First Alice went to the Land of Wonders She stood bravely before all dangers And left a bright red path [yeah, now the Devil's Acre is The Wonderland] This girl had some sort of destructive peculiarity (something that badly hurts people around her). Defending herself she killed a lot (accidentally at first) even if it wasn’t necessary.
Then Alice strayed too far Lost within the woods Giving in to all her sins Locking her away for good
Finally she ended up meeting Myron. He saw her power and thought “why don’t we try to use this energy as a battery for Panloopticon?”
Still her life remains a mystery 'till this very day If it weren't for the bloody trail, everything would be peacefulAs if she had never existed
Her red bloody path ends at the doors of iron cabin in the basement of Bentham’s House. [Actually, I think that didn’t worked so… we continue]
Second Alice was a tame And tender gentle man Singing songs to all the folks Who lived in Wonderland Whenever he would sing People gathered round
A talented singer became the second Alice. Enchanting people with his voice he could control them.
But his story had a sad ending: He was robbed of everything by a bullet. He blooms a single bright flower and withers away, loved by everyone.
Aand he was kidnapped. Of course, the bullet was with Dust, so very soon he has taken his place in the wax figures collection of the Bentham’s Museum.
It left a flower blooming sadly And those who loved him soon began to die go insane.
[That’s cruel but I think his peculiarity was evoking obsessive love with voice]
The third girl was fragile and innocent And no one believed that her words were a deceit
She sees future in her dreams and it scares her so she lies about them to avoid frightening people.
Lost within a crazy dream So afraid of death the girl Was mindless and warped
Nightmares about death and distortion haunt her (perhaps she foresaw emergence of hollowgasts or… who knows…). She’s the one who agreed to fell asleep using Dust, but never knew how long would that dreamless dream be…
Scarlet paths through the woods. Under a bush of blue roses the two will have tea. And afterward there'll be a ball at the palace. The Ace of Hearts is our ticket.
Here the plan seems to be clearer. Myron invited them personally.
Fourth Alice were a twins Wandering across the world They passed through many doors
[wait… is this a real Panloopticon reference???] Curious of this new place They traveled and explored The stubborn older sister The clever younger brother
Peculiarity of this twins is their bond. Actually they aren’t siblings. Thet are both one creature (like reflection in the mirror)
Were close to see the nature Of the true Alice at hand
They saw something they weren't supposed to see. And so…
Those poor children will never wake up from their sleep, Wonderland is waiting for the fifth Alice…
that last line scared me so much when I was a kid...
its 2am and i totally forgot what was the point of this song analysis. let's just think about that like it's AU where Myron has rabbit ears 'cause its so cute
