I've been thinking about how when ppl try to defend Spike and talk about him they ALWAYS bring up Angel/Angelus and yet it never happens the other way around 👀 it's almost like trying to gas a character up by shitting on another one isn't a good argument...Almost

I think u might be onto something there... also Bangels don’t even ship Buffy with Angelus that’s an entirely separate dynamic so their argument collapses on that front as well jsjsjs

Hmmmmmm....Becomes something she isn't??....if you're comparing with a 16-year old Buffy who's a TEENager to the 20-something WOMAN she eventually became, it's called growing up/maturing. She didn't became a great hero because Angel left her..she became a great hero because of everything she faced(the ugly and the good),the choices she made(both good and bad),the dying twice,the sacrifices she's made and the loves she's lost. Her experiences made her strong.

About loving all parts...after meeting Angelus and the whole trauma he put jer through,she still whole heartedly loves him so an argument can be made that she loves all parts of Angel too. But as a Bangel-shipper,I agree that I do not want Buffy to stay with Angel if he's Angelus. Buffy didn't actually got together with Spike until he got a soul. While he was evil with a chip,she didn't love him.

And if real love is staying, you really got to put it into context. He's immortal and she's not. Angel didn't leave because he didn't want to stay.He left because he couldn't offer her a future...he only wants the best for her and as heartbreaking as it was, at that point of time,he knew it wasn't him..Spike must have realized it at some point because he also didn't stay...

One thing is clear though...teenage-Buffy,woman-Buffy, confused-Buffy, single-Buffy,Riley-dating-Buffy, even sleeping-with-Spike-Buffy still loves Angel more than anything in her life..Time will pass,seasons will change,she will grow and change but her love for Angel doesn't waver and that my friends is TRUE LOVE...

I’VE BEEN THINKING PEOPLE ALWAYS REMEMBER AND LOVE THEIR FIRST LOVE AND CLING TO THEM BUT DISMISS THOSE WHO LOVE ALL OF THEM, IS IT BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THEIR NOT GOOD ENOUGH OR SIMPLY JUST NOT SEEING THE OTHER THAT IS RIGHT FOR THEM AND RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM.

WE IDOLIZE A VERSION OF SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THE INFATUATION IS STRONGER THAN OUR MINDS ARE JUST SEEING WHAT WE WANT NOT WHAT WE NEED 

THAT’S BEEN MY BIGGEST DEBATE WITH THE BANGEL VS SPIKE BECAUSE BOTH SPIKE AND BUFFY IDOLIZE THEIR FIRST LOVES THAT ARE BAD FOR THEM AND BRING OUT THE WORST BUT SINCE THEIR VERSIONS OF THEM ARE SO IDOLIZED THEY TURN AGAINST EVERYTHING THEY ARE.

MAYBE THE REASON I’M SO AGAINST BANGEL WITH ALL THE SHIPS IS BECAUSE MY HERO BECOMES SOMETHING SHE ISN’T SHE NEVER SHE BELIEVES SHE’S STRONG UNTIL HE IS GONE AND LEARNS TO BE A GREAT HERO AND NOT LOSE HERSELF SHE IS BETTER WITHOUT HIM AND SPIKE HELPS HER BECOME THAT, JUST LIKE SHE HELPS HIM BECOME WHAT HE USED TO BE.

THEY BRING OUT THE BEST IN EACH OTHER BUT IT TAKES TIME BECAUSE THEY ARE SO NUMB FROM PAST RELATIONSHIPS THEY FORGOT HOW TO LOVE UNTIL THEY REALIZE WHAT’S RIGHT IS THEM 

LOVE IS PAINFUL AND SEEING SOMEONE FOR ALL THEIR FLAWS IS NEVER EASY BUT REAL LOVE SHOWS YOU SEEING SOMEONE ALL OF THEM AND STAYING IS TRULY BEAUTIFUL

I recently saw a post where someone was complaining about Spuffy, and asking why, if people wanted to write about "bad boy" relationships, they didn't just go with Buffy/Angelus. It wasn't completely clear if they were talking about the show's writers, or fans, or both, but what confused me was the apparent assumption that there wasn't any functional difference between Buffy/Angelus and Buffy/soulless!Spike.

Most of the Bangelus stories I've sampled center around Buffy being unwilling or unable to kill or even capture Angelus. Either he's stronger and more skilled than she is, and/or her Lusty Angel Feelings are just too powerful, or both. They fight, she loses or gives up or refuses to engage at all, and Angelus overpowers and... let's say =ravishes= her, which she secretly (or not so secretly) enjoys. Now, there are a ton of Spuffy stories that follow that same basic pattern, albeit with a much lighter tone. You know the ones: Spike is the older, more powerful, sexually experienced man; Buffy is a quivering, blushing virgin who can't resist his sinister attraction. She knows it's oh so wrong, but her panties fall off the minute he smirks at her.

However...

Even in that kind of Spuffy story, which is basically a generic bodice-ripper with Buffy and Spike's names copy-pasted in, Spike generally ends up A) giving up killing people, B) willingly getting a soul, or C) Both of the above. The whole point of 95% of all Spuffy fic, even formulaic, dodgily characterized Spuffy fic, is Spike making the attempt to become a better person. The main point of most Bangelus fic, OTOH, is Buffy being so desperately, all-consumingly in love with Angel that she is willing to sacrifice anything – other people's lives, her own self-respect, the whole world – in order to keep all that's left of Angel alive.

Yes, there are exceptions. There's dark, despairing Spuffy and uplifting(ish) Bangelus. But in general, Spuffy is redemption fic. Bangelus is anti-redemption fic. You can't just substitute one for the other; they deal with entirely different themes despite some surface similarities.

Day 17 - Have you created a Bangel fanwork of any kind that you love?

I have wrote two fics but it is nowhere near the standard of those beautiful fics out there..The following are my utmost fave fics..pls do check it out cause they are super AWESOMMMMMMEEEE!!...

1. The journey,not the destination by Xena Avenger

In a world where Bangel reunites after end of AtS Season 5.This story tells how the couple reunites,gets married and eventually have kids but are still Champions for the Powers protecting humanity and fighting the forces of darkness..I feel like if cannon ever decides to finally give them a happily ever after..this story is it..a super long fic(86 chapters) that started in 2012 and it's still WIP...the writer will continue adding to the story but hasn't updated since nov 2017..i pray every day she updates it..still a recommended read anyway..

2. A Convenient Marriage by Gia

This AU fic is daaa bomb!!...I've lost count the number of times I read it..It is sooo goood!!...Bangel met via an arranged marriage set by Cordelia but eventually fall in lurveeee..

3.Awakening by Buffy L

Set in AtS S5 & BtVS S7..Angel's soul is bound (YAAAAS) and Buffy and him tries again..Bangel gets serious and shacks up(Yeayyy!)..What I love is that Connor is nicely fused in...Angel works on his relationship with him and Buffy steps into her stepmom role..butttt it's a WIP

4.Dark Release Season 3 & 4 by frosty600

This is Bangelus!!..When I read it,I realized it is believable for Angelus to eventually fall for her..What I liked is writer keeps them in character..at least to me..she has other Bangelus stories worth checking out..

For Buffy: 

1. Amends

First of all, this is an Angel centric episode and you know how much I love Angel! Second of all, it’s the closest episode to Ats that Btvs has, and you know how much I love Ats!

That’s it, really... This episode is great because it gives us insight into Angel’s mind post-hell and really turns him into an existential character. That scene between Angel and Buffy at the top of the hill is beautiful. It hits all the feels. I relate a lot to Angel and can understand Buffy perfectly. It’s beautiful dialogue and the acting is intense. I also love the part when they hold hands and look at one another! ´

Another plus of the episode is the theme of forgiveness. Xander and Buffy make up and Willow tries hilariously to loose her virginity to the sound of Barry White :P

2. Becoming

I think I like the first part better than the second one overall. Idk how to explain my love for this episode. It’s just so  c o o l. 

    1. I love Angel’s backstory. It really ends his mysterious guy phase. The audience learns how Angel met Buffy, what he was doing before Sunnydale, why he was in Sunnydale. A whole new dimension is added to the character. 

    2. I also looove Angelus. The scene where he does the spell and fails is hilarious. And the scene where he succeeds in performing the spell gives me chills. When he says “Witness me as I ascend. As I become” and vamp phases is so good. 

    3. It’s lovely to see Willow become a witch. You know the scene where Willow performs the spell and gets in a transe and then Willow and Oz are all confused? It’s epic!

    4. This order as nothing to do with my preference btw. The Bangelus scenes are awesome, but the last Bangel scene is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The acting is fantastic and the music is excellent. And I’m running out of adjectives.“Close your eyes”. 

    5. Angelus torturing Giles and Giles seeing Jenny is a masterpiece. David looks so good when he’s being mean to Giles!

Etc.

3. Innocence

I love this episode from start to finish! Buffy is so sympathetic and Angelus is such a great douchebag! His first appearance is him killing a woman and expelling the smoke from her cigarette! Epic! I adore his reveal to Spike, the “You look spiffy” comment, the “I am Angelus. At last” bit, how he destroys Buffy in the most glorious way possible, the way he says “You can’t do it. You can’t kill me!”. And I especially love it when Buffy kicks him where it hurts! I always cheer for her there :)

4. I Only Have Eyes For You

Such a beautiful episode. I love the music, the parallels between Buffy/James and Angel/Grace, the Scoobies and that final scene between Buffy and Angel. Their chemistry is off the charts and the kiss is amazing. Great acting overall. Another plus is Giles mourning Jenny, and shirtless Angelus who was defeated by love, lol. Thematically, the episode just works. 

5. Graduation Day

Epic finale! I adore the fight between Buffy and Faith, the final battle, the momentum of the episode, how painfully nostalgic it is, etc. Most of all, I love Buffy and Angel and that bite scene. Hot. 

For Angel:

1. Epiphany

Usually, I list NFA as my favorite episode, but tbh, NFA has a lot of emotional weight and momentum but it’s not nearly as beautiful as Epiphany. 

Epiphany soothes my soul. The existential focus of this episode is so human. Angel realizes that the little moments are all we got, that the smallest act of kindness is the greatest thing in the world, and spends the episode proving that. He lets go of Darla without hatred, he saves Kate, saves Cordelia from a head injury... He’s inspiring and good, I love him to pieces. The whole episode is a beautiful ode to humanity. 

2. Not Fade Away

This episode is just so epic and iconic. Let’s go to work? The best last line ever. I love how everyone goes down like a hero and how the show is brought back to it’s original theme of “strong is fighting”, 

Also, Wesley conversation with Illyria is pure gold, Angel and Connor make me cry, everyone’s last day is beautiful and representative of the characters, and Wesley dying makes me sob so much!!

3. I Will Remember You

I’d usually put Sanctuary at number 3 - and it is an excellent episode, but I didn’t want to leave out IWRY - which is the episode I’ve watched the most ever. IWRY is beautiful. Like Epiphany, it’s calm and flows so well. Yet, it doesn’t lie. It doesn’t ignore Buffy and Angel’s problems or how Angel’s transformation is problematic. Buffy and Angel are mature and honest with one another. All of their scenes just bring me life and Angel’s sacrifice is lovely too, 

4. Home

I also adore this episode. I love Lilah/Wesley and Angel/Connor. Lilah’s last moments with Wes (and Angel) hurt me, not to mention how painful it is to see Connor and Angel all broken... The entire episode is just a gift. I love Tim Minear! 

5. Lullaby

Darla’s best episode. Pregnant Darla is so funny and moving. She cries hormonal tears which is so cute, and loves her son. All Darla ever wanted was to be loved, but she discovered the beauty of loving in Lullaby. Her sacrifice was just beautiful and moving. I love her a lot in this episode.

I'm thinking about how jealous Angelus is of Todd when it comes to Buffy in the "One Thing or Your Mother" book... and I believe it was in the tie-in novel "Cursed" that it was revealed that Angelus and Darla often took other lovers. And at first, Angelus was jealous of the other people that Darla was with, but then he quickly got over it because he realized that this was apparently the only way to stay with an immortal partner: because it was too boring otherwise. So I feel the fact that Angelus was getting jealous of Todd--and also the fact that Angel was always jealous of anyone else who was interested in Buffy--of course says a lot.

One might argue that the "Cursed" thing isn't canon. But to be honest, I feel like it makes sense with what we know of Angelus and Darla.
