Let them have horses. When they meet they fight because both horses have the same name - Batgirl. Cassandra's horse isn't even female.

Make them enemies to rivals to running-away-from-the-law-together to lovers born of the nights spent together under the night sky by a fire, trusting each other to keep watch while they're sleeping.

Let Cass be a runaway from her rich ass father David Cain that tried to (put here something he would do bc i have no idea) her so she stole his horse and made her way from the coast to the steppes where no man hired by her father would find her.

Let Steph be a girl that swore she'd kill every man like her father, and that want's to achive a bigger bounty on her head in a year than he did throughout his entire life. Let her crossdress and pretend to be a man so she isn't treated as a dirt under the other's boots. Make her be so charming that she undercover as a man steals the ladies of anyone who pisses her off, but not enough to deserve death.

Let them play Robin Hood if it was a western. Let them rob banks. Let them beat up men. Let them kiss. Let them collect a harem of girls pining over them in every city they passed through, even if they know they'll never return.

well uhhhh turns out I’m a terrible parent because I spend most of my time on the same 10 OCs and then neglect all the others. This is just a small collection of characters that really deserve more attention but that I barely ever think about

Every now and then when thinking/talking about ROM hacks, I’m reminded of those projects I see on romhacking.net where people take retro sports games from the SNES/Genesis era and update them with the latest season’s roster. This thought recurred just now, and this time I thought: why don’t they do that for other games?

Pokémon has seen a little bit of this, with ROM hacks adding every dex and gimmick up to Gen 8 into the Gen 3 games, but I think this should go further than that! What about Animal Crossing? Seeing something like Wild World updated to include items/villagers/mechanics from City Folk, New Leaf, or even New Horizon would be so cool! As someone whose favorite console ever is the DS, this would be a great hack to play, and I know I would eat it up! Games like Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and even Mario Party could play into this too, for much the same reasons.

I’m also a fan of those hacks that recreate a different game entirely, using this game’s engine/assets. What if we just recreated Animal Crossing: New Horizons in Wild World? Add all of the fighters from Smash Ultimate into Melee? Put MK8 tracks in Double Dash? The list could go on.

If I had much of any ability with regards to hacks like this, I’d be all over organizing projects like these. Unfortunately, I’m sort of at the whims of the many talented creators out there making hacks out of love and passion for the games. These are just some neat ideas I had that I would love to see become a reality :3

I’ve been playing TOTK recently. I’m not too far in the game (finished the sky temple a few days ago) and I gotta say, I find it kind of funny that the reason many npcs from the first game act like they don’t know link despite having interacted with him previously is that they don’t recognize him with his hair down. Granted, the Doylist explanation is probably that they couldn’t account for which players did which side quests, but still, it’s kinda funny to think about how Botw/TOTK Link is apparently unrecognizable without his apparently iconic pony tail. Then again, people were assuming that this Link was going to be a different Link when his new hairstyle was shown in the trailers, so maybe it’s just a common thing. Also, side note, I did the side quest where you drive a raft to the crazy flower lady and I love how Link factor into the exchange between her and the other npcs at all. I like to think that he’s just cowering behind a crate or barrel the entire time, since this is the lady that can easily beat him within an inch of his life.
