#the art is lovely but the disrespect runs deep. I need finns to do better about this.

Disappointed but not surprised. This is Karelian wear, not Finnish.
It is extremely disrespectful to call the headdress that is an important part of the whole of the ruutat "funky" and refusing to even draw it. This is a trend I've seen with finns over and over again calling our cultural wear funky and ugly because it doesn't suit their personal interests. Headdresses, as well as every single other part in Karelian ruutat tell a story of the wearer, the exact place they're from, their age group, their marital status as well as which family they are from.
Following the trend of Finnish cultural appropriation of taking a part of Karelian heritage (that has been marked clearly as Karelian, even recognized here by the poster) and STILL insisting it to be Finnish is such a spit in our face.
There are so many historical dresses found from different areas of actual Finland, yet you still go and choose one clearly labeled as being from the Karelian region. Honestly if you're such a cultural history nerd, do your research better and please, add to your reading list at least a few cultural history books that detail the struggle of Karelians and the erasure of our cultural history.

Finnish Miku, but its the iron age because I'm a cultural history nerd.
The outfit I used as reference is from the later parts of the iron age, perhaps around 1000 AD. Based on archaeological finds in the Karelia region, and this particular reconstruction has been made by Hanna Aalto. I did take some minor artistic flairs and instead of the funky headdress just added some braid decorations.
