Stan’s going through it after waking up as a ghost. Actually, let’s be honest— he’d been going through it for a long while now.

I posted the first chapter of a new Gravity Falls story, “I Know How To Live (I Don’t Know How To Die)” where Stan is a ghost and ghost shenanigans ensue.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, please do so! And let me know what y’all think.

Ao3 is down for a bit!
Not sure about y'all, but Ao3 is down for me at the moment– apparently due to a DDoS attack– so I'll have to find something to occupy myself with until it's back up.
Good luck to the Ao3 volunteers with getting the site back up! Y'all are the best.

“Stanley, I wasn't trying to send you away with the journal to get rid of you... You were just the only person I knew I could trust. I'm still... upset about the science fair project, but... I have missed you, Stan. And I'm... I'm sorry you've been through so much."
Stan's breath hitched. Sorry... When had anyone told him sorry before? Crampelter never apologized, and Pa most definitely didn't, and Ford never had to before, but he was now and wasn't even apologizing for something he'd done. He was just... sorry life had been so shitty to Stan. Tears prickled his eyes, but he swore he wasn't about to cry in front of his brother, too. Instead, he did what he always did; Deflect.

"Maybe, maybe not. Sure hope so, though, 'cause we're all gonna need to work together to make this work."
Fiddleford quirked a brow, eyes wide. "Well, cut off my legs an' call me shorty! You actually sound sane! Most people I've seen 'round here are a few clowns short of a circus, y'know? Even Ford's a lil... well... crazy."
Nolan chuckled. "I get it. Folks 'round here are certainly... eccentric, and they don't really recognize when something is 'weird' anymore. When you live with gnomes rootin' through your trashcans and manotaurs punching your car, nothin' will faze you."

Rico grabbed the man's throat, shaking him. "How," He growled. "Do you know that? Any of that?"
"Because," The man wheezed, still smiling wide. "I know you, and I know Stan, and I know where Stan is. You're looking for him but can't find him. Lemme tell ya, you'll never find him here. He's not in Utah."
"New Mexico?"
"Not there either."
"Then where is he?"
The man smiled, eyes glinting yellow in the light of the setting sun. "You ever heard of a place called Gravity Falls, Oregon?"

Some of my favorite moments from chapter 11 of “Meet Me On The Strange Trails”, Way Out There. This chapter was so much fun to write lol! I’m kind of excited to write more from Rico’s point of view, too 😈
Also, something I feel like pointing out because it’s a detail I really like: Toward the end of the chapter there’s a line that says ‘The man smiled, eyes glinting yellow in the light of the setting sun.’
This line is a reference to one of my favorite Lord Huron songs, “Setting Sun”.
“Now that the deed is done
I’m just waiting for night
And the fading light of the setting sun.”

IN REGARDS TO MY STORY STRANGLING VINES
Just wanted to say real quick that I’m not planning to abandon my story Strangling Vines on Ao3, I just haven’t been super motivated to write it lately, and I’ve been struggling to focus on it, so I’m taking a break. Right now I’m super fixated on Gravity Falls for some reason, so I’m focusing on stories for that instead.
I really appreciate everyone who’s been supporting the story though! It’s one of my first fan fictions so it really isn’t great, but y’all really made me happy with your kind comments. I don’t know when the next update will be, but I will do my best to finish that story.
Thanks for understanding! Talk again later 👋

Snippet from Meet Me On The Strange Trails chap. 11: "Way Out There"
"Ignoring me won't work, Stanley." Ford spoke up suddenly. Stan blew out a breath.
"Wha'd ya want from me Ford, a detailed description of my time away from home? Should I write it out on a dainty piece 'a paper like I'm a maiden writing in my diary? Dearest Stanford, since being banished from home I've made the unfortunate discovery that life on the streets fuckin' sucks. Warm regards, your idiot brother Stan."

Sneak-peek of a new story in the works!
I've got a story saved in my drafts that I'm slowly working on. Another Gravity Falls fan fiction (because I'm currently obsessed) titled "I Know How To Live (I Don't Know How To Die)." It'll have plenty of H/C, brotherly bonding, ghosts, amnesiac Stan, and supernatural elements (of course).
-
Summary:
Stan couldn't explain it if he tried. All he knew was that one minute he was alive– heart beating, blood pumping, the whole shebang– and the next he was dead– No pulse, see-through, lying in the middle of a forest clearing. He couldn't remember much, but he was pretty sure he'd been in New Mexico last he'd checked. To make things even stranger, there was a sort of tug in his chest like something was trying to guide him somewhere…
-
" It seemed that– as of yesterday– he was dead, which didn't surprise him much considering the life he'd lived. Still though, death didn't come without its mysteries, of which included, "How did I die?" and "Where the hell am I?" It seemed that instead of heaven or hell, Stan had ended up in the middle of some random ass forest which, if you asked him, was worse than just ending up in hell, mainly because he didn't know what to expect. "
" Maybe it had to do with unfinished business or whatever. Didn't that happen with ghosts sometimes? He remembered hearing Ma talk about it years back during a few of her psychic readings. Maybe that was why he'd ended up in the middle of nowhere, and maybe, if he followed this feeling and completed his task, he'd be able to move on. Not that he wanted to go to hell, which was probably gonna be his next stop, but the woods were getting boring. Whatever he was getting into, he just hoped it was interesting. "

Quotes from "Meet Me On The Strange Trails"
Some of my favorite quotes so far from my story "Meet Me On The Strange Trails". Sometimes I impress myself lol.
"So an evil fairy is trying to get you to build a portal to hell?"
"・゚:*You are not pure of heart!・゚:*" Celestinabell– or whatever her name was– shouted, her horn glowing. Stan rolled his eyes.
"Well shit, I could have told you that from the beginning."
"No. Now you listen here, you overgrown bottle of glue; You can either give us some hair, or we'll take it, but we ain't leavin' here empty-handed."
Ok, so Ford was living off of coffee and dust, that actually explained a few things.
"I have eaten! Not in the past twelve hours, but–"
"Woah... his name is Fiddleford? Legally? Eso es gracioso!"
"Aw, don't look so glum, chum! I've got the perfect solution for everyone! Well, maybe not for you, but the rest of us will be happy."
"Don't beat yourself up; you're runnin' off a single sandwich and a prayer. We'll figure this out. Least ya got your friend here to help us." Stan said, jerking a thumb at Fiddleford.
"Did you say a single sandwich? Ah hell, both'a ya siddown and shuddup, I'm gettin' us fed."
"This unicorn barrier spell has more holes in it than a rusted-up bucket!"
"Could we lock 'im in the bunker?" Fiddleford asked, looking at Ford.
"What, the bunker with the portal in it? Cause that seems like a bad idea." Stan said.
"No, no, not that one. The other bunker! The secret one out in the woods!"
Stan looked at his brother quizzically. "The other one? How many damn bunkers do you got?"
"Shoot, well'en; I suppose I ain't got any other ideas. You, Stanley?"
"Lock him in a closet?"
"We'll certainly file that one away."
"And just where am I supposed to put him, the jail cell in my attic?"
Ford blinked. "Well, that would probably work-"
"He was being sarcastic, Ford," Stan spoke up, struggling to hide his grin. Ford blushed.
