twice i've reported people doing that "i want to make art for your fic!" spam/scam to AO3 and both times they removed the comments i pointed to but did not ban the user. AO3 tends to assume good faith on the part of whoever's being reported for something, but for fuck's sake? this is a well known ongoing annoyance and they're just leaving the spammers to carry on with it? (i would assume that after another report they'd be gone, but...)

#the archive breaks a lot these days which i think is just overburdened database from so much traffic but they also seem #to attract spambots of various kinds too.#i *was* backing fic up on squidge but nobody seems to read anything there so i've got lazy about that after about a year #but it feels like every other archive has been absorbed into ao3 by now or it's ff.net which is a horrible piece of shit website #which is ALSO full of the AI Art Scammers.#anyway there's such a thing as being *too* lenient with the obvious spammers in your userbase that's what i was getting at.#this latest art scam comment was left on a fic about people doing an art scam which was at least mildly amusing for me.
