Yes, but it would be easier to curate if you could be more specific on what you were looking for, plus I dunno what you’ve already read. That said, I can (and will) try to do a very broad amalgamation post. I’ve kind of been wanting to anyway.

I went kinda nuts after the break, hope it helps. ^_^

For each story, I’ll mark its relationship with canon, its word count, and whether it’s complete or not. If something is incomplete I’ll include how recently it was updated as of the writing of this post. Ordering is from longest -> shortest by word count.

My tastes skew fairly shippy and very sapphic, but given that you’re asking for fic recs of TOH and Amphibia, you probably expected that.

Amphibia The Arcanist Marcy Wu (426k, incomplete. Updated June 2023)

Canon Divergence: My personal favorite swap AU, and the story I recommend the most out of everything I’ve read if someone is looking for a longfic. The trio is rotated in their starting locations, but the characterization, worldbuilding, and humor are all very true to the spirit of the show. Very Marcy-centric, though the sequel has spent a lot of time incorporating Sasha as well.

Game of Hearts (104k, incomplete. Updated December 2021)

Canon-Divergence: A darker take on Amphibia, built on the core idea of exploring the potential consequences of fighting your best friend with real swords. Started before True Colors, so it diverges pretty wildly from canon due to not taking those revelations into account. Still manages to have some really good characterization of all three of the trio, with my personal favorite in this story being Anne’s.

Into the Latte-Verse (87k, incomplete. Updated May 2023)

Full AU (Coffee Shop): A really nice mix of excellent characterization and cozy vibes, while still maintaining a decent amount of the drama, trauma, and stakes that drew me to Amphibia in the first place. Despite not including the world of Amphibia, Amphibian characters are still present, they’re just also humans, and everyone’s characterization is on-point.

Post-Canon (Diverges before Epilogue): We all know the themes that Matt Braly wanted to push in Amphibia - learning to let things go, embracing change, etc. Sometimes, though, what we want is to see the trio be codependent messes while they deal with their trauma. This is my favorite incarnation of that approach to post-canon.

Lone Toad and Human (52k, complete)

Canon-Divergent: Essentially starts as an interpretation of what Sasha is doing after Reunion and Toad Catcher, but diverges from canon into its own resolution. (It was written before the show was actually finished.) Excellent Sasha characterization overall, and a really interesting take on toad culture in Amphibia.

Catachresis (30k, ‘complete’)

Canon-divergent: Amphibia, but the natives of the world don’t speak English. Fascinating take on language-learning and adapting to a foreign culture, with some massive difference from canon owing to the characters not being able to communicate with their Amphibian hosts. I will give a soft warning that, while the story is complete, it’s left very open-ended, which can feel a little frustrating if you’re not ready for it. Still, it’s extremely well-written and well-thought out.

Differences Between Us (10k, complete)

Canon-compliant: Exploration of some of the smaller and weirder difficulties and misunderstandings that would come from being a human dropped into a world of frog people. Leans very heavily into found family as a keystone.

but i will walk down to the end with you (9.5k, complete)

Canon-compliant: Essentially a missing scene fic of Anne and Sasha dealing with the fallout from True Colors after Return to Amphibia. When I first came looking for Amphibia fanfiction, this was basically the first thing I wanted to see because it felt like it was missing from the show.

entropy (7.5k, complete)

Post-epilogue: Self-indulgent Sasharcy shipping fluff. I’m especially fond of Sasha’s characterization in this one, there’s a lot of emphasis on her instinct to be a provider and protector.

Worried Shoes (6.5k, complete)

Canon-compliant: Perspective piece from the POV of Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy of the time Anne spends in Amphibia. Lots of emotions, particularly ones related to grief and loss that the show itself kind of skirted around.

Keeping Up Appearances (4.5k, complete)

Canon-adjacent: A vaguely angsty Sasha character study, aiming to explain some of the stranger habits we see Sasha pick up in the show, as well as exploring the perspectives of the toads offering her shelter.

Seeing from the Inside Out (3k, complete)

Post-epilogue: The calamity trio navigate their adult lives, and deal with being highly recognizable because of their time in Amphibia.

so you’re good for me (2.8k, complete)

Post-epilogue: I consider this a spiritual successor to entropy, because despite being written by a different author, it integrates almost seamlessly with its narrative. Centered around miscommunication, but it’s oops-all-fluff, so it comes across as funny instead of frustrating.

The Owl House

Rainbow Hair Clip (386k, complete)

Canon-divergent: Diverges immediately after Young Blood, Old Souls, with a lot of really cool world building stuff that makes for a fun alternative to what we got from canon. Structurally, this series tends to alternate between stories which are mostly just shippy fluff, and stories that are more dramatic and get into the lore being built up in the world. Both aspects are really good.

Bring Me That Horizon (301k, Complete)

Full AU (Pirates): A really fun, swashbuckling adventure which takes The Owl House’s cast and drops them into the Age of Sail. Still uses TOH’s magic and coven systems.

The Haunting of Blight Manor (216k, complete)

Full AU (Mystery/Horror): I generally shy away from anything horror or even horror-adjacent, but I made an exception for this one and I’m really glad that I did. A riveting ghost story with some really interesting conversion of the people we know from the Boiling Isles into a (mostly) mundane Earth setting.

Moonlit Masquerade (187k, complete)

Canon-divergent: Some general Lumity goodness that develops into a full series AU. Lots of interesting extrapolation on the world building we had as-of the end of season 1.

Luz Noceda and the Olympians: The Lost Goddess (147k, complete)

Full AU (Fusion Fic): This one is a little bit of a stretch to include in an Owl House recommendations list, but not too much. Fusion fic with Percy Jackson and the Olympians; essentially, it takes the characters we know from The Owl House and re-imagines them as demigods in the world of Percy Jackson, though most of the main characters from Percy Jackson do not make an actual appearance. Everybody’s characterization is excellent, including their various divine heritage.

Dangers in Fiction (142k, complete)

Canon-compliant(ish): Takes the characters we love so much and ratchets the stakes back a little bit, pulling the focus into Hexside and letting Belos sit on the backburner. Really intriguing mystery story intermixed with some lovely fluffy Lumity nonsense.

make my heart your home (84k, incomplete. Updated January 2021)

Canon-compliant: An exploration of Luz’s relationship with Eda, Eda’s relationship with Lilith, and the aftermath of Young Blood, Old Souls. Extremely solid characterization of Luz in particular, though everyone involved is well-written.

Several Witches Are Typing (37k, complete)

Canon-divergent: Exploration of the Emerald Entrails after Any Sport in a Storm, a really enjoyable group dynamic that doesn’t get explored as often as some others.

The Rewards of Being Loved (33k, incomplete. Updated July 2021)

Canon-compliant: In-depth exploration of the pre-season 2 Lumity dynamic, AKA the part where Amity was a complete and total disaster rather than only kind of a disaster.

Nothing in This World But You (30k, complete)

Canon-compliant: Similar to the above, but with less emphasis on Amity being a disaster and more emphasis on her properly integrating into Luz’s friend group. Very nice pacing.

Finally With You (20k, complete)

Full AU (No Magic): If you’ve ever been in a long-distance relationship, this will probably resonate with you. It perfectly captures the giddy excitement of finally getting to actually meet a long-distance partner in person, and from there executes an adorable Lumity romance.

Gus and Boscha’s Excellent Adventure (11k, complete)

Canon-divergent: Off-the-wall comedy story that isn’t quite like any other Owl House story I’ve read. Even so, it manages to cleave pretty well to the canon characterization.

For Love and Lockets (7.9k, complete)

Canon-divergent: Set after Escaping Expulsion. This story has some of the best, purest, most sincere yearning that I can recall reading pretty much anywhere.

Careful With All That Ego, Child (3.7k, complete)

Canon-divergent: Lilith character study, where Lilith is a lot more involved with mentoring Amity than she is in canon.

pet names (1.5k, complete)

Canon-divergent: Short one-shot of Luz being an insecure dork. That’s really all there is to it, it’s very cute.

A Quiet Valley (1k, complete)

Canon-compliant: Camila’s perspective on the night the Hexsquad arrives in Gravesfield after facing down Belos. Really interesting exploration of the inhuman aspects of witches.

Do y'all have any amphibia/toh fic recs?

I don’t normally post anything ever, but i’ve drawn 2 fully rendered drawings for this fanfic so i might as well.

I had a lot of fun drawing these, pretty proud of how it turned out, both drawings were made to look a bit like a comic page/panel. I usually avoid drawing humans because they are very complicated but i decided to try for the sake of drawing this. I also got to learn how to draw anatomically correct toad skulls for this! It’s a skill i have now.

Anyway, i really like this fanfic, i am nearly finished reading it for the 5th time and i probably will again because i keep on noticing details i hadn’t before each time i read it, and i’m having fun trying to figure out what’s going to happen in the future based of all the foreshadowing and setup for future conflict.

The first one, I did it in the course of my first week of classes (starting classes with a broken heart lol). And the second one, I did it at home and it took me 3 hours to finish coloring it :]

As I said before, I am VERY proud of these drawings. Oh and currently I'm intense to make and upload as many drawings as I can before starting the week because they left me a lot of homework.
