21. Turning points of their life

After Mordesri was rescued from slavery and brought to live on Zatto with Bezieama, he didn't really talk. Not with aunt, not with the other children, not even to himself. He was completely silent.

He spent a lot of time indoors, staring out windows at the other kids playing in the street, but he didn't try to join in their fun. For weeks he did this, and for weeks NeNe Da watched.

Da was Bezieama's closest assistant. A Whiphid, she often hid herself in cloaks so as to not startle the new children. She was an avid reader, a believer in the mystical and strange, with a keen interest in Anatto's major religion. She was Mordesri's salvation.

When Mordesri would sit in a room and do nothing, NeNe Da would sit there as well. She would start off with quiet things, mending clothes for the children, or reading to herself. But as Mordesri became more used to her presence, she would speak. Sometimes she would talk of people she had known, years ago; sometimes she would just discuss the weather. When she felt at loss for topics, she would read, and Mordesri would listen.

One of the first things he ever said to Da was to ask her to teach him how to read, which she did, and for the following years, it was rare to see him without a book in his hands.

20. What-if/Alternate Timelines

So I got this AU in my head where both Mordesri and Theron never became spies. Instead, Mordesri took toward acting and Theron became a photographer.

As a child, Mordesri had been recruited by kinda shady talent scout/acting coach Diyan Patel. Patel signed Mordesri on to his agency and got him a bunch of jobs acting in series, to the point where Mordesri was like one of the most known child actors of his time.

Years down the line, after Mordesri fired Patel and quit the agency, he decided to take a break from acting (I'm thinking he's around 13/14 here), but later on he comes back into it but working in theatre instead. Lana Beniko, having quit the agency that Mordesri had previously been signed to, seeks him out and eventually becomes his agent. She supports him every step of the way, and Mordesri becomes pretty popular in the theatre community.

And then Mordesri takes a step back into film. He circles the indie scene for a little bit, taking smallish roles, but one day Lana convinces him that she has found him the perfect part for a movie and would he please just consider it? Consider it, he does, and after trying out, Mordesri gets the part. The filming goes great, everything is amazing, and then comes the press tour.

Enter Theron Shan.

Lana recommended him to the movie staff for the photoshoots they needed to do, and after looking through his portfolio, Theron was hired.

During one of the sessions, he and Mordesri had a lot of time to talk in between takes, and they really hit it off. But Mordesri didn't want to be in a relationship, and Theron had been burned in the past before so the concept of him in a relationship was a bit daunting. So they both decide on a casual fling kind of situation, but,,, that doesn't really work out for them because they both fall in love with each other and they try so hard to pretend that they aren't and it hurts and the mutual pining and god, its just so fun to think about
