EVENT 016 {OCTOBER 1ST - NOVEMBER 1ST} AURORA BAY’S HALLOWEEN FESTIVITIES - PART 1 & 2
Summer has come and gone, the temperatures are cooling, and pumpkin spice is in everything! It’s finally time for one of Aurora Bay’s biggest events thrown by Town Hall, Aurora Bay’s Halloween Festival!
For the last couple weeks in town, residents will have noticed that the town has slowly been putting up their fall decorations, with pumpkins taking their places at front door steps, paper ghosts in the windows, and even a few scarecrows around the square!
There will be plenty of family-friendly fun, but perhaps the most anticipated part of the festival will be the Halloween costume party held at Sharky's, our Monster Mash! Once again there will be a costume contest with plenty of prizes! More info will come later in the month.
OOC INFO BELOW:
Here's our next event, and just like last year, it'll be running all month long to give everyone plenty of time to plot and play with some Halloween scares!
Here's a list of some of just some of the things you'll find in town this year: (*If you'd like your shop to have anything special going on this month, please let us know so we can add it to the list!)
Botanical Gardens:
Corn Maze running daily (after 8pm it becomes haunted!)
Halloween lights and inflatables all around for a nightly lit-up walking trail
Food stands with kettle corn, caramel apples, etc.
Aurora Bay's Art Museum:
Running all month long, a special spooky art exhibit featuring unsettling works, haunted artifacts, and macabre paintings all while reading up on stories of famous artists throughout time that met gruesome (and oftentimes untimely) deaths.
Charles Levin Theater:
Join us all month long for the Theatre's production of The Phantom of the Opera. Keep your eyes up on the chandelier!
Sunrise Winery:
hard cider and mulled wine tastings
a pick-your-own pumpkin patch
pumpkin carving and painting stations
Sunset Drive-In:
Every weekend Sunset Drive-in will be showing Halloween movies, ranging from movies for children all the way to those super scary movies for the adults! Movie schedule will be posted around town for everyone to plan their movie nights!
Around town:
Hayrides (nighttime haunted rides running Friday thru Sunday evenings)
Specialty menus at shops like Sweet Nothings and Driftwood Coffee
Fall styles and Halloween costume items at Sea Glass Boutique and Hidden Gems Thrift Store
A haunted house open nightly- enter if you dare!
Pop-up candy spots all around town for an early trick-or-treat all month long!
and new this year, an Aurora Bay Haunted Tour!
Every evening, join a walking tour through places said to be haunted in town including the All-Nighter Diner, Aurora Bay's Lighthouse, and then to the docks to hear scary tales of merfolk that are said to reside just below Aurora Bay's waters.
Read about what you’ll learn on the haunted tour HERE
Neighborhoods:
Trick-or-treating will obviously take place on Halloween night, so make sure you have plenty of candy for all the little gremlins of our little beach town!
Halloween decorations on the lawns and houses of anyone wanting to participate (feel free to make posts of what those decorations look like and tag our aesthetics blog!)
Part Two:
Sharky's Monster Mash:
Sharky's will once again be holding their annual Halloween party, The Monster Mash! This will be part 2 of the event, so we'll let you know when it's time to post costumes and threads for this one!
Please feel free to make posts of your character's Halloween costumes and tag our aesthetic blog as well as tag it as #ab.halloween , as well as put your character's name and the name of who they're dressed as in the description! And if you're doing a couple's costume, make sure you tag your partner in there as well! This helps us admins keep up with everything!
Like last year, we'll reblog all the costumes to our aesthetics page and we'll make a masterlist of them all where muns can vote for their fave costumes!
Categories will be: best costume, best couples costume, funniest costume, sexiest costume, most creative costume!
A second post will be made for this part of the event, giving all the dates and more info on the party!
RULES: (this will be expanded on during part 2!)
Players do not have to participate in Sharky's Halloween party, decorating houses, or dressing up if they do not wish to!
Per usual, the first 5 open starters may be posted without muns replying to others first, but if open starters have plenty of notes or you've already replied to them, feel free to go ahead and post another!

Choices Holiday’s Festival of Fears Halloween Prompt Event
It's almost October and that means Halloween/Samhain time! In the spirit of Creepy Campfire Tales (Special thanks to the creator of Creepy Campfire Tales, @annabellewynter for her gracious support of this endeavor), Choices Holidays is hosting a creepy prompt event!
Welcome to a month filled with Murderous Mondays, Terrifying Tuesdays, Witchy Wednesdays, Threatening Thursdays, Fiendish Fridays, Sinister Saturdays, and Spine-Chilling Sundays!
Tumblr media
Below are a series of quotes, prompts, and memes meant for inspiration, but you are not required to use them. Any scary story will get reblogged and added to the master list. This is open to all choices fandoms.
All creative endeavors are welcomed: Fics, art, edits, mood boards, whatever you’re inspired to create!
The deadline is All Hallows Eve: October 31st, 2023, 11:59 p.m. CST.
Be sure you tag @choicesholidays #choicesholidays, and #festivaloffears for reblogging and inclusion on the master list at the end of the event.
Please feel free to reach out to this blog or @angelasscribbles with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Prompts are under the cut.
Quotes for Inspiration:
“The night is dark and full of terrors.” ~Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin
“Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?” ~ Tim Burton’s Batman (The line belongs to The Joker)
“Quoth the Raven nevermore!” ~The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe
“We all go a little mad sometimes.” ~Psycho (1960)
“Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep.” ~A Nightmare on Elm Street
“I see dead people.” ~The Sixth Sense
Writing Prompts:
The following prompts came from The Write Practice.
Creepy Story Writing Prompts
1. It's late at night, and you hear footsteps in the cellar but you're definitely home alone…or so you thought.
2. You've put that doll in the cabinet, in the closet, in the attic, but no matter where you tuck it, it always shows back up on the sofa. On Halloween night, you find it watching you…
3. A bad-tempered businessman is driving home after a long day of work. He thinks he sees his kids trick-or-treating and stops to pick them up but those aren't costumes.
4. It's Halloween night and you and your friends think it would be fun to visit the local town's annual corn maze. But when you're inside it, someone inside the maze doesn't look like an actor in a costume. And shortly after, your friends start to disappear one by one.
5. You don't believe in the rumors that say a certain scary book is cursed—and that anyone who reads it will meet their maker by the end of the week. So naturally, you read it. And then things start going wrong…
Monster/Ghost Story Writing Prompts
6. A young woman goes to her grandmother's house for tea on Halloween night. They have a wonderful time together, sharing stories, joy, and the best times of family. The next day, the woman learns her grandmother has been dead for a week and no one could get ahold of her to tell her.
7. A little boy is lost in the woods, but at least his faithful dog is with him. As they look for the way out, the dog defends his master against terrifying monsters and animals. But the closer they get to escaping the dark forest, the more apparent it is that they'll need to face the person, or thing, releasing these monsters in the first place.
8. A farmer who dreams of being a scientist experiments on this year's pumpkins, hoping to enlarge them. He has a lot of success, until one of his potions is tampered with, and the cute pumpkin in his patch morphs into a monster that eats anyone who stumbles over its vines.
9. Your girlfriend/boyfriend brings over your favorite treat on Halloween, but when you eat it, you transform into a giant, poisonous snake that kills anyone who touches you. What do you do next?
10. You wake up on Halloween night, look outside your window, and see your sister sleepwalking away from the house. You chase after her but can't catch her until she plunges into a dark lake, where there's a mysterious song that starts to pull you deep below the surface.
Not-So-Spooky Story Writing Prompts
Not all people love scary stories. If this is you but you'd like to try to write a scary story—and have a fun time writing it—try tackling a (not-so) scary story prompt that could turn a potentially scary tale into something that is fun (even funny):
11. You hate clowns, which makes it even worse when your husband secretly decides to hire a clown for you son's birthday party—which just happens to be on Halloween.
12. Aliens have just landed on Earth and boy, did they pick a weird day to come. How do they respond to Halloween, supernatural or otherwise? Do they decide this place is just too bizarre and get the heck out, or do they stick around and join in the fun?
13. On Halloween night, lovers get to come back and spend the evening together one more time. One couple from the Roaring Twenties decides to come back from the grave to help their extreme nerd great-grandchild or the kid will never get married.
14. You decide that this year you're going to crash the ten top costume parties in town—and prank each one while you're at it.
15. A mad scientist determined to destroy the world falls hopelessly in love with a not-so-wicked witch. As hard as he tries, he can't impress her.

HalloweenThursdayTreats SPOOKTACULAR: Monster High: Ghouls Rule, Scary Godmother, & The Nightmare Before Christmas!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's time to end October with a BANG and celebrate Halloween with the monsters we all know and love. We've got our ghoulfriends from Monster High, we have a house full of monsters ready for the annual Halloween party hosted by Scary Godmother, and we've got our spooky residents at Halloween Town (not the Disney Channel's HalloweenTown) prepared to scare-it-up led by The Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington!
Let's catch up with our ghoulfriends for 2012's Monster High: Ghouls Rule where Halloween is on the horizon and Frankie Stein has never celebrated before! She believed it was a day for costumes and candy, but wasn't aware of the ongoing tension between Normies (Human Beings) and Monsters. Monster High is constantly getting unpleasant visits and pranks by the normies and some of the students have had enough. They go to "the real world" to give the Normies a little payback, but they unfortunately get into some trouble along the way and one of the students are wrongfully accused of breaking havoc on the Normie's high school, New Salem High. Who was wrongfully accused? Holt Hyde (also known as Jackson Jekyll)! It's up to the Monster High ghoulfriends to clear Holt's name and bring back the spirit of Halloween!
In 2003, Cartoon Network aired a sppoky cute 45-animated special called, Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktacular! A group of kids led by Jimmy are ready to go trick-or-treating, but not before playing a Halloween prank on Jimmy's little cousin, Hannah who is extremely afraid of monsters. After they trick her into going "The Spookhouse", Hannah is met by Scary Godmother whose come to comfort her and show her how not all monsters are as terrifying as they seem. How does she do that? By throwing a fun cozy Halloween house party hosted by her and her roommates. Hannah soon meets a skeleton-in-the-closet, a goofy/hungry werewolf. a family of vampires, and a unique monster called Bug-A-Boo whose job is to hide under every children's bed. It's a Halloween party full of frights and giggles!
Finally, we've got a holiday classic from 1993, The Nightmare Before Christmas! The citizens of Halloween Town always make sure that each Halloween gets better every year and while the citizens all look to the mayor, they also look to Jack Skellington (The Pumpkin King) who has grown bored of the same thing each year. While wandering off with his ghost dog, Zero, he stumbles into a place called Christmas Town where he finds a new passion. He wants to understand Christmas, experience it, share it, and participate in the festivities by even becoming Sandy Claws himself! Unfortunately, that comes with a cost as Kris Kringle has been held hostage by The Oogie Boogie Man (The Boogie Man) who doesn't plan on letting him go anytime soon. Will Christmas ever be the same again? Will Halloween ever return to Halloween Town? Tune in to find out!
Honestly, I love ALL of these films! I would watch them all the time with friends and family! I felt that the best way to finish spooky season was to look back at three Halloween specials I absolutely love! I hope you've had just as much fun with these as I have! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
