Hiii just wondering if you could please translate this interview Maria gave about Franco? https://youtu.be/AqMKHpuQHLw?si=l9pbKdUVwM52dMuY
Sure, here it is! I skipped a few less interesting parts. For those who don't know, María is one of his 2 managers.
About the 2025 rumors: "All those rumors circulating about Franco signing for a seat are 100% not true. There isn't anything signed. I don't know if you've seen Jamie's [Franco's second manager] tweet saying 'Thanks for the info [about Franco confirmed at Red Bull] how strange, you found out before I did!'. For now Franco is a Williams driver, we have 3 races left with them and at the moment we're in Williams. James himself said he's negotiating with other teams, it's a discussion between teams that I can't say much because I don't know. There is a wish for Franco to stay in F1 in 2025, from so many people: his fans, us, the F1 itself would love for him to continue, Williams themselves are pushing to make it possible. If that wish becomes a reality we'll announce it when it happens for sure. For now, there is not any signed contract."
"I admire Franco so much. The way he's been dealing with the pressure and exigency of F1 is admirable. I was sure it was going to be like this, but he's still 21 years old, working with the mindset of a much older person. The physical and emotional effort he's putting in is impressive."
About how they take much more care of Franco now: "In F1, the only difference is that the exposure is many times higher. Now Jamie and I pay much more attention to the way this is affecting him, how he deals with this exposure and everything that's been happening to him. In that sense, the good and bad things have intensified a lot. So we are keeping an eye on him almost every second, both on and off the track."
About Franco meeting fans and signing their stuff even after Sunday's race: "That's just his nature. We spent the entire weekend hearing crazy stories of people who traveled to Brazil from Argentina by motorbike, people who didn't even have a ticket for the race, people getting wet in the rain. And he was incredibly moved, he felt that very intensively, saying 'what a wonderful thing is happening to me, look at all those people!'. From the paddock we all could constantly hear their chants, songs and screams, and everyone else was like 'what is going on?! what is this?!'. That is super positive for Franco, he couldn't stop coming out, he just wanted to go out and greet them. Obviously by the look of his face, his mood, he wasn't very excited at that moment, but he didn't want to stop giving back just a little bit of their constant support. He's still the same person [as before F1]. After the race he went out with that [sad] face, because he thought 'all those poor people, coming all the way to Brazil and look at what happened'. He felt like he had to do it for them, saying it's for all these people that he has to do well."
"We would've loved to be at the banderazo. Picture this: before leaving we even had to buy an extra suitcase just for all the gifts Franco received this weekend. It's been incredible."
About the impact of Franco's fans on F1: "I don't know if you've seen it, but now the Instagram account of F1 has been posting in Spanish (targeted to hispanic countries). I don't remember the F1 ever making such an amount of posts in Spanish before. This means that the F1 is embracing with gratefulness this community, these new argentinian fans and everyone Franco's bringing in."
About Brazil GP: "It was tough, it started tough and it ended tough. Considering it was an unknown track for him, his first time there, the tricky rain conditions we had, if I go back to all the sessions I think Franco was quite fast, even though he couldn't try the inters until the race because of his crash in quali. So I'm happy with the work he's done, considering he's a rookie, it was his 6th race, the wet unknown track, he did a good job. At the end there was too much water, in the straight there were two big rivers. Unfortunately he aquaplaned in one of them and lost the car, there was nothing else he could do. It can happen to you, like it happened to him and many others, or it can't. So it happened, the conditions weren't good and there isn't anything to throw in his face by my part."
About his relationship with his race engineer and their radio in Brazil: "It's always like this, maybe Franco has an opinion and Gaëtan has another, sometimes they agree but the most important part is that they win and lose together. Franco and Gaëtan will win and lose together, in the good and bad times. We'll never know what would've happened if they had listened to Franco [about him repeatedly asking for wet tyres before his crash]. The point is that him and Franco have a great connection, he trusts a lot in his criteria and this hasn't changed at all. They're always together in the simulator, now going for Vegas and thinking about the future."
About Franco feeling bad for the mechanics after his crash: "He wanted to be there helping in any way he could. I don't know what other drivers do but Franco is very affectionate with all the members of his team and greets them every morning, says goodbye to everyone every night, he has a special connection with them. His biggest worry was the effort they had to put to fix his car so he was constantly coming in and out of the garage, asking if he could help with anything, supporting them and thanking them."
About his relationship with Alex and the overall climate in Williams: "The best thing is that it's like a small family. It's our first F1 team so we can't really compare, but it feels good to work there, it doesn't feel like you're in F1 and feels like we're still in MP [F2]. Everyone is lovely and it's a pretty family-like climate."

I do not consent to my work being copied, plagiarized, or translated in any way >:P
Tiny droplets of the crying sky showered the windshield as you made it through the busy LA streets. Your eyes dart left, right, even peering through the rearview mirror before placing your eyes back on the road in front of you. No matter the amount of rain, all the drivers seemed to have acted as if it were their first time on the road. The slightest swerve from any car made goosebumps prickle your skin.
You hated driving in the rain. Hated it so much that you tried to avoid it as much as possible, or have Neil take you where you needed to go — which he declined almost all the time. If it didn’t have anything to do with him, he didn’t see the need for him to chauffeur you around.
“You’re a big girl. You don’t need me…” he would say lazily as he trudged back upstairs to converse with strangers he owed not a second to. As the years of your marriage crept by, the concern he had for you grew less and less.
Which is why you decided to try this new venture all by yourself. Going to the gym wasn’t new to you but you thought that if you lost a few pounds of the marriage weight and toned up, that maybe, just maybe, Neil would take a first and a second look at you. But it seemed he was more interested in his job, games, and occasional women than you.
It hurt in the beginning, being put second. But each hurtful moment just made your skin thicker and your feelings nonexistent. An exit out of your marriage was weighing heavily on you and, shamefully, you could admit that you had thought about darting towards that exit more than once.
You thought about your failing marriage and all that would come if you decided to choose yourself just this once. How your family would feel and what they would think of you for ending a marriage that might have worked out.
But when it came down to it… you were unhappy. The only thing that made you even crack a smile was the success at your job, and being one of the top performers there. With each promotion, your heart soared. Only for it to be broken the minute that you would tell Neil.
He had a way of making your accomplishments an insult to his lackluster career and would even choose to sulk than congratulating you. One thing about you — stagnation was out of the question. You were either going to end this marriage as it was or try your hardest to bring the spark back. Even if Neil wasn’t the least bit interested in putting in the effort.
Here you stand outside of the gym, clutching the nylon strap over your shoulder as you take a deep breath and pull open the door. The cool air of the industrial air conditioning system hits you in the face like a strong breeze. It felt welcoming and the air lingered with a faint citrus smell.
You were met with the front desk, the top of it decked in marble, and the gold lettering in front of it beamed like no other. A woman flipped through the New Asgard Monthly Magazine behind it,  peeking over the current issue as you approached. She calmly placed it down and motioned for you to come closer.
She had a warm smile that could go either way but you were determined to get this introduction over with so that you could start your new journey. With another deep breath taken, you stroll to the front desk, unzipping your duffel bag to present your wallet, in case you needed to present any identification.
The woman studied you for a moment, giving you a once over before she began to speak, “Welcome to Valhalla Fitness, I am Eleni. Do you have a membership?” she smiled softly, giving you time to speak as she leaned further forward in her seat.
You cleared your throat, adjusting the strap over your shoulder again, “N-no. I don’t. It’s one of the reasons why I’m here. I’d like to get one today if that’s possible,” it was if you were a little kid asking permission to sit at the lunch table with the cool kids. Every fiber of your being vibrated with heightened nerves as you stood.
You couldn’t put your finger on it. But it seemed as if Eleni could see right through you or knew a secret about you that you didn’t even know. Either way, your anxiety finally settled when Eleni made a sound of glee, clapping her hands together before beginning to type on the screen in front of her.
—
The tall figure rose from his seat, stretching his legs as he lazily made his way toward the open  window. It showcased his newest investment, Valhalla Fitness. He scanned the crowd of gym goers, his eyes darting between the patrons putting in ample work, and those who were only there to look like they were exercising.
His schedule was the same seven days a week; not that he minded in the slightest bit. Being one of Earth’s mightiest defender for a decade, earned him a well-needed retirement. One that he had no problem taking as he searched for new ventures to dive into.
He inspected the spacious gym once again, an unfamiliar sight stopping him in his tracks as he squinted down at the front desk. Deciding he had to have a closer look, he took his tablet in one hand and opened up the app for the security cameras. He selected the one behind the reception desk, aimed directly at the woman smiling gratefully at Eleni.
His curiosity got the best of him as he zoomed in, taking in the every dip and curve of your body that in his opinion didn't need working on. Just like Eleni, his eyes stayed on you in a less innocent way than hers, paying attention to the spread of you lips as you smiled or the way you shifted ever so slightly as you listened to Eleni. His tongue slid over the plump of his bottom lip, watching as you mouthed of information, causing Eleni to type in every word.
How he wished he could hear how you sounded.
“You’re staring, Thor. You never stare,” a sultry voice rang out behind him, but it did not not deter him from keeping his eyes on you.
“I stare. When things or people are worthy of catching my eye. You should know that dear wife.”
A chuckle falls from her lips as a throaty moan escapes it a second later, “Yes, I know that look all too well. I used to be the cause of it,” she purrs, returning her attention back to the man feasting between her legs.
The sight of was nothing new for Thor. They had been married for centuries, bound together by arrangement rather than love. But from outside, people would never know or even hear anything more than the Mighty Thor and Valkyrie being madly in love with each other.
In Thor’s experience, people  married for centuries developed certain tastes– and they weren't always for each other, as many would hope. A man or woman feasting on Thor’s wife was just another day for him. He had granted her wishes  long ago as, Valkyrie did the same.
Though they never shared their bed with others — hotels were a very different story.
Thor’s eyes remained trained on the camera, noting every smile or laugh.. Even the small tick in your eyebrow when it looked like you were asking a question. You were art and he wanted to get a closer look at his new visitor.
He was all about making everyone at the fitness center feel welcome; and for you, he’d give you more than one tour if you asked him for it. Thor watched as Eleni passed over the welcome packet over to you, watching you punch in your new code as you walked past.
Thor straightened his back, turning the tablet off and fixing his shirt. He strolled over to the door, craning his neck as he called up the stairs, “I’ll go greet our new customer. I’m sure you’ll be here for a while. Clean up after you’re done with the poor man. He’s been savoring your nectar for hours.”
“Hm, the nectar of an Asgardian is always addicting, my love. Maybe you’ll have some later?” Valkyrie croons over at him.
“Don’t count on it, my dear. I’m sure you’ll be drunk with Asgardian mead by the time I’m done.”
“You know me so well… Almost as if we were-”
The door opened and shut before she could even finish her sentence.
Thor trudged down the stairs with purpose in every step. The closer he got to you, the more his loins warmed with fire. He had to hear you, your scent already caressing his nose like smell of a newly made weapon.
He saw the uncertainty in your eyes as you were trying to decide which machine to use, biting at your lip furiously. It never dawned on you that someone was edging closer. The moment his voice filtered into your ears, you looked up, stopping your search on which device you would try first..
He extended his hand towards you as your name formed on his tongue. The softness of your hand compared to the callous surface of his only but made him want you more. To him you felt like nothing that belonged on this Earth. With you in his close proximity, the light vanilla scent caressed his nose as he easily towered over you.
“Welcome to Valhalla Fitness. I am Thor, one of the owners of this fine establishment. I see you’ve gotten the welcome packet from Eleni. I would love to give you a proper tour of our facility, if you would like.”
The deep velvet coming from his mouth was all you needed to shake his hand and accept his tour invitation…

Kyūshū Region

Hawks: "Aren't we all just dying for free time? I just want everyone to be happy, you know." Tokoyami: "That ambition is what I, too, wish to realize." Jirou: "He has a rockin' vibe even when sleeping, doesn't he!!"
Nanzo-in Temple is home to one of the largest bronze statues in the world depicting a reclining Buddha, called Shaka Nehan (Nirvana). The statue holds ashes of Buddha and two adherents, which were gifts from Myanmar as thanks for Nanzo-in's donations of medical supplies.
Saga

Ashido: "The squid are dancing!!" Tokoyami: "The squid, such speed!" Aizawa: "For drying a large amount of squid at once, it's a really reasonable method." Tokoyami: "A magnificent display of stormy turmoil!!!"
This is a fixture at Yobuko Town's morning market which rapidly dries squid by rotating in circles. The Japanese name, ikaguruguru, uses an onomatopoeia for going around in circles so you could call it a "squidy-go-round." Tokoyami uses the Japanese term for the German aesthetic Sturm und Drang. By the way, the term for dried squid, surume, is also used to mean something that grows on you over time. It's one of the most popular snacks in Japan!
Nagasaki
Tumblr media

Aoyama: "Merci for the million dollar nightscape~" Asui: "The night views from the sky are exception!"
Nagasaki is considered to have one of the top three best night skylines in Japan. You can visit Mount Inasa's Observatory to see it for free, but they got something even better!
Kumamoto
Tumblr media

Sero: "Bakugou... did you do that!?" Kouda: "The mountain is burning!" Shouji: "Quick, put it out! Bakugou, you help too!" Nedzu: "Hang on! Dry grass being burnt down helps new grass sprout. This nurtures the animals as well. Humans and nature in symbiosis, that's what burning the fields represents!" Bakugou: "Hey, you bastards, APOLOGIZE!"
The city of Aso lights its mountain on fire every year as part of the Aso Fire Festival, a coordinated effort between farmers to replenish the fertility of their soil. My favorite part is that Katsuki doesn't deny that he blew the mountain up in flames... he's saying, "see, I'm helping, all right!!"
Ōita
Tumblr media

Kaminari: "Now then, who's getting in!! To soothe your travel weariness!" Iida: "STOP! Do you want to be boiled alive!? Swimming in the Blood Pond Hell area is prohibited!!" Kaminari: "So this is a 'bitterness of denied entry' type hell, then! (cry)"
They are trying to bathe in the Blood Pond Hell in Beppu City, where iron oxide and magnesium oxide mix and get pushed to the surface to turn the water blood red. Beppu is known for its Eight Hells, hot springs that are so hot (often greater than 200 degrees Fahrenheit), they are meant for viewing rather than bathing--hence their being called a "hell," not a "hot spring!"
Miyazaki
Tumblr media

Yaoyorozu: "The myth of Princess Toyotama and Yamasachihiko exchanging love letters has been passed down in Aoshima, so there is a legend that if you send a love letter with this postbox, your love will come true." Kaminari: "Make a postcard for me right now, Yaomomo!" Mineta: "Make me a hundred! It's my lifelong wish!!" Yaoyorozu: "It's just one apiece for someone special..." Postboxes in Japan are red, so this one, called the "Yellow Postbox of Good Luck," is unique. The couple Yaoyorozu mentions are from the Kojiki and Nihon Shiki, which contain some of the earliest written records of Japanese myths and ancient history. Poor Kaminari... he just asked for one!
Kagoshima
Tumblr media

All Might: "Continuing to watch over everything for all eternity!! This here, this is the Symbol of Peace!!" Izuku (mumbling): "It's a well-known fact among fans that All Might loves Yakusugi--" Izuku (out loud): "I'm thrilled we can all go together!! Right, Kacchan!!?" Kacchan: "I... Don't drag me into this!! (pleased, though)"
Yakusugi refers to cedars of at least a thousand years old on the island Yakushima, where there are dense coniferous forests with many old-growth trees. The most famous is the Jōmon Sugi, which is estimated to be at least 2,000 years old. Did Kacchan follow them on their tree tour, trying to not be noticed, and Izuku called him out on it~? Or did they companionably embark all together while he put up a grumpy front? Hee!
Okinawa Region
Okinawa
Tumblr media
Endeavor: "Shouto, how is it? How is the soba!?" Todoroki: "Okinawa soba is tasty." Endeavor: "RIGHT!? SHOUTOOOOOOO!! (joy)" Todoroki: "Let me eat in peace."
Unlike Todoroki's beloved mainland soba, which is made with buckwheat flour, Okinawa soba is made with wheat flour and is closer to udon noodles.
Aaand that's Day 6, the last release is the grand finale!

<Kira> Kira: Happy…Birthday. That…gentle atmosphere. It must be the secret…as to how ST☆RISH is…united as one. Cecil: Fufu, when I hear you say that, somehow I feel a little bit embarrassed. Thank you very much.

As per usual, I was talking to a client this week about autistic cognitive processing and I felt the sand shifting under my feet. So I come here to you Tumblr to do my own autistic cognitive processing in the hopes of better serving myself and my clients.
I have known for a long time that I can't process my thoughts and emotions verbally. This is what sometimes leads to me getting frustrated, "stuck," and increasingly pressurized towards my meltdown threshhold when I'm trying to express a half-formed thought or need. This is why I often choose to process my cognition in writing. It allows me to sift about in the sands of my mind, sliding to and fro, checking and rechecking, until I find what I need.
There is something to the capacity to shape my communication more freely and without the preesure that I put myself under which often leads to stammering, stuttering, aphasia, confusion, and my inability to hold something as ephemeral as language in my head long enough to manipulate it like clay with my hands. Words are not my brain's mother tongue in the first place, and it can be a welcome relief to truly take the slowed pace I need to translate my thoughts into a language others will understand.
Some others. I am well aware of who I learned my translation process from and of how that has made my translations inaccessible to some of the very people who share my brain.
The thing is, to learn to speak at all when your brain processes this slowly takes enormous effort. To learn to CHANGE your speech is back breaking. I have been trying for fifteen years.
Autistic cognitive processing pace and the disabling ramifications aren't things we talk about often. It's one reason some of us become obsessed with having back up plan upon back up plan (because we literally cannot think fast enough to keep up with the demands of our lives). It's one of the fastest paths to burnouts and meltdowns. It's part of why we are unable to keep up with the demands of social interactions, especially in large groups (too many social cues moving too quickly to be processed at pace and we drop the ball in the moment even if we realize later).
Because the pace of our cognition is chronically slowed, we are chronically disabled socially, emotionally, cognitively, etc, and we are forced to spend an incredible amount of mental and physical energy either compensating for that, recovering from it, or both. That is energy and resources neurotypical people get to spend on other things in their lives, maybe a project or hobby, a relationship, hell, just relaxing.
There can be upsides to it. This slowed cognition seems to be related to how the process of bottom-up analysis functions during cognitive processes in Autistic folks' brains. That bottom-up analysis is a really interesting cognitive processing style that seems to be responsible for increased pattern recognition! So a lot of how we're able to analyze, learn, understand, mimic, etc based on pattern recognition is thanks to this processing style. It helps us take in a holisticly detail oriented view of the things we look at, which can (with support) make us great researchers, investigative journalists, and inventers.
But while the upsides have become more discussed as we've become more willing to see Autism itself as neutral (a very good thing in my opinion), we sometimes forget the other side of the coin.
I often find myself trying to brute force my way through my processing pace. It always ends badly. And that's really the trouble. I can talk most of the time, but I can talk A LOT faster than I can process my thoughts. So most of the time my words are just. Garbage. Sounds. If you ask my to speak to you, you are asking me to fill up soundwaves because realistically my brain moves at about 25% of the speed of the conversation.
It's why as a clinician I have to be so incredibly careful what I do and say and how I hear my clients because I *truly* am processing what the tell me at auch a significant delay. It can sometimes be days later when the information truly settles into place.
The same is obviously true in my personal life! It can take me days or even weeks to figure out what a single thought or feeling means in the context of my own life because I have to process that often entirely alone or just on paper. Not because no on one WOULD help me I have people in my life who would be willing but because by the time talking to someone would be any help, I would have basically figured it out enough to just say it out loud and I don't really need their help by then. There are rare exceptions to this when I do definitely seek help but it can be so frustrating to be trapped, voiceless, in your own emotions.
I don't have a framework for this, only the suggestion to embrace the slowness. I have found that when you are not constantly fighting against it all the time, it feels a little more like home, a little more like it's working FOR your instead of AGAINST you.

Device IX Has No Interest in Nihilists
The Path of Nihility in Honkai Star Rail is fascinating to me because none of its pathstriders, those that follow the aeon in some way, are nihilists. In contrast, most of the other paths do want people who are actually affiliated to their keyword in some way, such as the straightforwardness of Hunters, leaders for the members of the Harmony, etc. like that. Now, I want to be clear here: I'm actually going by gameplay paths, not like what sort of organization they're affiliated to. This is because most will split allegiances with this and I consider their gameplay path to be the actual path they are a part of. Jing Yuan might be a member of the Xianshou who are affiliated with Lan but he himself looks at the world in a skewed, academic lens, which makes him a great tactician and a member of the Erudition more than of the Hunt. That to me just makes more sense and honestly is just FAR more interesting to examine.
Why do I say Device Ix isn't interested in Nihilists then? Well, it's because all of the Nihility characters we have right now in some way are both in conversation and reject Nihilism in some way. If Nihilism can be boiled down to "Everything sucks, we'll all succumb to entropy, why bother doing anything?" then why does Black Swan record dead planets? What is there to learn from something that has already succumbed? Guiniafen and Luka both have suffered SEVERE losses that have shaped who they are but also both became performers with new goals in life and desires to be aspirational for those around them. Silver Wolf sees life as a game but she also cares about winning that game or else she wouldn't get so upset when she loses. The Nihility branch is filled with this stuff.
But the best example? Well, let's actually wait on talking about Acheron to talk about the outlier because the game was actually pretty clear about this. It's the whole point of 2.1 after all.
Aventurine the Nihilist versus Acheron, the woman who wants to kill Nihility itself. One is an Emanator of Preservation while the other an Emanator of Nihility itself. But... Not the ones you would assume immediately.
Aventurine is fascinating in that one could argue he is only Nihilistic to himself but it's still more genuinely Nihilistic than almost any of the actual Nihility characters. He genuinely believes he does not matter. He is the most worthless chip in the game and so he will bet that chip over and over and over again. But... What is he also doing with those bets? It's not just that he accrues wealth and status but accrues a theoretical proof to his worth as someone who should exist. The hole within him that the Cornerstone arguably fills is that of a need to be able to say he matters and the best way he can do that is with firm, physical objects. That's why his power is creation because in theory, a limitless amount of credits would mean limitless proof that he deserves to exist. Now if only depression actually worked that way. However, this also translates into how he'll put himself below all others, prioritizing their safety and preservation, thus the path he his actually a pathstrider of. After all, much like Luka and Guigui, he has lost a lot and I think he would do ANYTHING never to lose that which he cares about again. He will preserve it at all costs, the tragedy being that he does not actually care about himself.
Meanwhile, Acheron barely has a self to lose. Of any character in the game, Acheron has lost the most. She has lost her world, her people, much of her self identity, her memory, her sense of place, etc. etc. IX is CONSTANTLY taking from her... Yet she never wavers because she confronts Nihility with its opposite conclusion. If we are all destined to die, for our efforts to be wiped away, ALL of our actions matter because if the moment is all that can be relied upon, why choose to waste it? Why choose to wallow and suffer and hurt others when you can try to do better? Why let yourself be consumed by entropy when you can live the one life you have to the best it can be? It doesn't matter if you screw up after all, what's important is that you tried because it's what you believed in. This is why Acheron wishes to kill the Nihility. It actively tries to trap Pathstriders in despair until they admit that who they are is indeed worthless and should just wither away. It's what Acheron and Aventurine talk about at the end of 2.1. That Aventurine's path was going to lead to his destruction because he wouldn't have bothered taking Argenti's hand once in the clutches of IX. After all, his actions didn't matter and his job would have been done. Why bother keep trying? But Acheron rejects that because even if she may never remember the connections she makes, the people she helps, she would rather have had them at all then to simply sit and do nothing.
And she is the emanator of IX. The one who pulls people away from his grip and reminds their souls of who they are so they may pass on happy and whole rather than rotted, decayed and faceless. If IX were interested in Nihilists, he would have nothing to do with Acheron. He would have never looked at her and certainly never blessed her. Instead, she is his emanator.
Which brings an interesting question we don't have an answer to: Is the giant space blob looking to be proven wrong and given a reason to care about the universe, or are they looking to be proven right and empowers those who are foolish enough to challenge the natural trudge towards entropy? We genuinely don't know. The most recent SU stuff actually even illustrates that both answers could be correct. After all, Nous empowered both Herta and Polka despite the fact that they both will act upon his dominion over knowledge in opposite ways. It may just be that Device IX sees these people as those exploring Nihility, rather than simply accepting it, and doesn't even care about if they prove them wrong or not.
But regardless, it still makes it a fascinating question. How do you get on the radar of something that is supposed to believe the universe doesn't matter? That nothing does? Because right now it seems to be by giving it double middle fingers and shouting, "FIGHT ME FUCKER!" And I love these debilitating daredevils for it. See you next tale.

I want to step aside and say I'm grateful for everyone who has shared my adoptables, bought 'em, enjoyed them with your eyeballs, or just hung around in general. I don't like to mix money with art, but these past two months I've been in a tight position where I needed to to make ends meet. I didn't want to lead with this because we're all broke motherfuckers out here, and you know how it is. being poor can be the most shameful and humiliating thing in the world, even when you know in your forebrain that it's not something you can necessarily control.
Thankfully, this is a transition period. I'm lucky to have the support of really cool people who have made it possible for me to secure some work doing what I love. 🤞 with any luck, we will be out of the woods soon.
As much as I hem and haw about making money off of my art, this has been an encouraging experience. I've enjoyed being able to act on design ideas that wouldn't fit into my own stories, but are really fun in someone else's hands. I also learned a lot during this brief return to the adoptable market, which I will share below, in hopes that maybe it can help others who find themselves in the same position.
I've been strict with pricing my work hourly, rather than just slapping on a price that "feels right" for the perceived complexity/finish/originality of the design. It's like pulling teeth, because I'm always slower than I think I am. I try to hold onto a piece of advice that I heard somewhere, which I will paraphrase poorly. Basically, even though your instinct might be to make a lot of small, affordable things, so you're not putting all your eggs in one basket or setting yourself up for disappointment if there's no bites, it's sometimes more "efficient" to do expensive jobs that are few and far in-between. there is... obvious... tension between this and my feelings about accessibility. one thing wins over the other when you're in survival mode, for better or worse. but i feel fortunate to be able to eat today so that i can pay it forward tomorrow.
i've tried to be conscientious of overhead, platform fees, and invisible labor. I probably would have made more money if I had conducted sales as auctions and exchanged money through direct invoices, but I chose to use ko-fi and fixed prices because that meant there was less friction between sharing my work, conducting a sale, exchanging money, and distributing the files. This might seem like a deranged tradeoff (surely it would be more worthwhile to just exchange a few emails) but it reflects the state of mind I was in before I received the news about my new job. If I wanted to keep doing this for what seemed like an indefinite amount of time, I needed to make it as simple as possible.
in line with the above, I chose to make adoptables rather than open commissions because the risk of losing time without any financial return was acceptable to me. time and technical effort was not my limiting resource, haha... I really respect commission work, but it's challenging for me to do. maybe you can guess from my desire to use ko-fi that it takes more effort for me to translate a client's vision into visual art than it takes for me to spitball an idea and hope someone will like it enough to take it home. I already prioritize this more "intensive" work as part of my (current) dayjob, so it's better for me to pick the path of least resistance in this case.
all of this rides on having a following. honestly, i wasn't sure things would work out here on tumblr. i have traditionally sold adoptables over on deviantart, where I have a larger following. dA recently enshittified (again) so this blog became an impromptu experiment in critter sales. I'm happy that I haven't had to touch dA, in the end, and I really owe that to you guys. thank you! (again!!)

KINK CONTENT DON'T LIKE DON'T READ
As promised, here I'm with my dungeon meshi headcanons part2 now its time for Senshi and Marcille
Senshi
Ok, on one hand, I think he would be very chill about generally, he sees it as just a normal bodily function and if you need to do it, you should just do it. I can even see him giving a litttle lecture on how holding it in is bad for your health and there's nothing to be ashamed of. If someone did it on accident after a meal or something, he will just smile and assure them it's fine and maybe that it's even a "compliment to the chef".
But on the other hand he canonically cares about table manners, so I would say he would get quite frustrated to see someone doing it on purpose just to be annoying, gross or funny and would also give a lecture on how that's not good and can also make you sick (the person receiving the lecture is prob Izutsumi). I would say he doesn't think excusing yourself is always necessary, but at least making an effort to muffle the sound is, especially in a dungeon.
He applies the same rules to himself, except that I do think he'll always excuse himself (its like, "other people don't have to do it but I can always be a good role model!"), but generally, if he has to burp, he'll just do it, unless he's in a formal situation or needs to be quiet. I can picture he putting a fist over his mouth and then casually excusing himself, not too worried about it.
He doesn't have any skill related to it, like doing it on command or burping words because he doesn't see the point, he finds it weird, actually, that some people would see it as a party trick or something when it's just, again, a bodily function. He would also never participate in a burping contest, unless idk he was really bored and really trying to bond with the people around him and it would still take a good amount of convincing.
Now, I don't think he would burp very often, for a variety of reasons 1) I don't know if that's true for the dungeon meshi universe, but for what I know dwarfs generally have stronger stomachs 2) He knows how to pace himself when eating and wouldn't be swallowing a lot of air 3) He has a very good understanding of which foods work for him and which ones don't.
I think his burps are a little bit below average for a dwarf (which translates as a little above average) and that they aren't very loud, but they're very deep and can be quite long. He'll make an effort to muffle them, but it's always going to be at least a little audible.
Marcille
From the main four she's definitely the one that's more grossed out by it. Mostly she'll just roll her eyes, groan and maybe mumble some insult, but if she's in a particularly bad mood she may actually snap and scold whoever did it for being loud (normally Laios) or not excusing themselves (normally Chilchuck).
Of course because of that she doesn't know how to burp on command or anything like that and would never participate in a burping contest, she thinks only someone incredibly vulgar would do any of those things
All that being said, the universe must really hate her because her burps are loud. Very loud. Explosions of sound. So loud she can't even properly muffle them. And she tries her hardest to, trying to hold it as much as she can (which just makes it worse in the long run) and if she has to, keep her mouth shut and covered by her hand (also always excuses herself, multiple times even), but it's not enough. She hates it, she gets actually angry at herself for this, but there isn't much she can do. The others don't even taunt her about it anymore (unless she's being particularly insistent with her scolding), because she gets actually sad and so ashamed its painful to be reminded of it.
I have more so once again if this gets likes I'll post them

20 Questions for Fic Writers
I was tagged by @aawrightworth! Thanks Topaz! <3
1. How many works do you have on A03?
25 currently. Technically, I have 26, including what I wrote for the Ace Attorney Holiday Exchange, but that won't be added to my profile until after creator reveals.
2. What's your total A03 word count?
103,031
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Pretty much exclusively Ace Attorney. I have one Hades Game fic and one DGS one (which AO3 technically classes as a different fandom than AA).
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Of course, the only two smut fics I've written are both in here 😂.
Mile(s) High Club
Locked Inside (The Key to Your Heart)
He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not
Isle of Eros
After All This Time
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, however, most of the time I'm very slow at getting around to it. I try to match the same amount of time and effort the commenter made when responding, but I sometimes get anxious and overthink my response, which delays me getting to it. I'm working on responding to everyone I haven't yet, and then hopefully will keep up with it from there. Regardless of how long it takes me to respond, please know that I read and treasure every comment. It makes my day when I get that email! 🥰
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This is a very hard question lol. I'm predominately an angst writer, so I've written some pretty angsty endings. It's hard to think of which one is the most when I feel like a lot are fairly equal. If I had to pick one, then probably The Time Loop Ritual. The ending stands on its own as very angsty, but I've been told the epilogue/sequel fic, All That Remains, has made people even sadder.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
This is hard as well. I've also written plenty of happy endings, and not sure if one stands out happier than the rest. I think I'll go with He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not that I've seen. The closest was something that could be interpreted as a backhanded compliment, as well as a comment that pointed out a flaw in my writing for one of my early fics (which I was already well aware of). But both those comments also contained praise.
9. Do you write smut?
I've only written two smut fics, but I do have some WIPs I hope to finish someday. I want to write more so I can become comfortable with it, but writing it sort of intimidates me TBH. Most of my ideas don't involve smut, so there hasn't really been a need to. But I also know I'd probably come up with a lot more smut related ideas if I wrote it more and became more comfortable writing it.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I haven't and don't know if I ever will. I've tried to brainstorm a Hades Game Thanzag and Narumitsu one before. I came up with some vague ideas for that, but don't know if I will ever go further with it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of, but if anyone ever wanted to translate one of my works, you are free to do so!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! @aeronwolfao3 and I wrote Coffee and Chrysanthemums! It's currently unfinished, but we will continue to work on it one day.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
NaruMitsu/MitsuNaru, of course ❤️💙❤️.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Well, I have a list of 50+ fic WIPs that are in various stages of progress (from a vague several sentence idea, all the way to mostly having a first draft done). That huge, ever-growing list is also why I've been putting off my response to the WIP tag game from a few months ago lol. I also get new ideas fairly often, and I prioritize my writing based on any events and exchanges with deadlines (which I participate in regularly, and also give me new ideas each time). That's all to say that as much as I'd like to get to every idea on that list, I most likely won't. I don't have a specific WIP to mention here, though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Angsty emotions, especially those resulting from grief, loss, and tragedy. Dialogue. Emotional inner monologue. Creating small little sentimental moments between characters that one of the characters can recall.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Super fluffy content, especially with very little/an absence of plot or conflict. Character and setting description. Writing body language without sounding repetitive or awkward. I've still done all of this decently enough, but it's harder for me and comes less naturally. And I don't utilize description nearly enough.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Maybe someday I'll include some German dialogue for Miles or Franziska or someone else who it would fit for. But I probably will have someone fluent look it over first.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Ace Attorney! While it wasn't my first posted fic, one of the fics I first worked on originated as a script for a comic back in May 2021. It was through the encouragement of some people in the fandom that I started writing and adapted that script and comic idea into a fic: Keeping Up Appearances. My first actual posted fic (not including my co-written fic which first chapter was published two days earlier) was Never Meet Your Idol, a drabble written for a prompt on Discord.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Another hard question. If I answered this last year, this would probably be much easier to answer, but now I've written so much more that I'm happy with.
I'm gonna put two, since one of the ones I really like is still unfinished, and part of my joy is because I know the full extent of it (which the readers don't have that benefit). The one I'm talking about is my 1-2 canon-divergence fic, A Demon’s Justice. There are two chapters out so far that I'm both mostly content with, and five planned chapters still to go. I first thought of the idea almost a year ago now, though I didn't start actually writing it since the summer. It's grown a lot since I first envisioned it, and will probably be close to 30K by the time it's finished. While I won't know how I feel in total until I can read the whole finished version, I am excited to write more and for what I have planned.
For finished, this one is much harder, and I feel like my answer fluctuates. For now, I'll go with The Lies We Tell As Our Secrets Are Held. The idea came to me in the shower when I was brainstorming fic ideas for NaruMitsu week this year. The storytelling style is a bit different than other stuff I've written. I think it achieved the feeling I was trying to capture, and I'm happy with a lot of my descriptions.
Tagging: @azalawa-scroggs, @almarnatiaam, @gloucesterroad @wobster109 @aeronwolfao3 @theinkhiddenwithin @ziskandra @zombiekittiez @enisywrites
Tagged some people that I haven't noticed were tagged yet or haven't noticed them doing it already, but also, anyone who sees this, feel free to do it as well!

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @kanonavi , thank you!!
~~
1. How many fics do you have on AO3?
Five on main, one and a half on the side lol
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
Main: 60,314
Side: 5,776
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Basically just chrono trigger atm. Written for legend of Zelda and Castlevania in the past, but they're dormant/hiatus until I have time and insp again (and a one-word fic for NBC Hannibal lol)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Well. I only got five lol. The one with the most is my hylink one soooo. Niche of niche
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes!! I try to respond to all of them, especially if someone's taken the time to write a detailed comment for me. I really appreciate it, and have fond memories of making friends with some of my fave authors because I was a regular commenter!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Haven't finished any lol. Unless you count the one shot/drabble stuff but like. I don't lol. I love angst and I'm sure half the lost fics I would've written as a teen that I barely remember were angsty to a comical degree, but if I had finished my hylink fic that might be the angstiest 😏
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Talking planned endings since I haven't finished... My ct uni au, cause it's not meant to have an ending LMAO. It's basically a drabble collection haha. Otherwise... Idk... Maybe my st au ending? It's not sunshine and roses, but it has a nice ending that gives me a similar satisfying wrap up that various star trek finales have given me.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not that I can recall... There's some pushy and rude people I've had in the past but nothing enough that I can remember lolll
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yeas 😏 I'll write anything now I've kinda overcome the juvenile feelings I had over it... I'd just get embarrassed and didn't know how to unpack that lolll. I don't think I have any published atm but that's why I have the side, I've def drawn stuff tho 😏👍
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've written?
Not really. The closest I get is stuff like my star trek au, where I've made a universe heavily inspired by star trek and have the ct characters play a certain unique to that world.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Hope not 😑
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13. Have you ever co written a fic before?
Yeah!! One of the vague memories of my early teen years writing I had this cool android dystopian fic for some characters I made with a friend, it was super fun but we never finished cause we both progressively got busier through the end of high school... Oh also I had this one fic I'd write with my sister and it was one of the rare times we got along growing up, aaand this one 'fic' that's grown into its own thing that I've had with one of my besties since we were 14, we've talked about adapting it to be it's own original thing so it didn't come to mind at first cause it's now it's own thing and not a fic lol.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Magland lmao. Specially crafted to be an all time favourite, what can I say?
15. What's a Wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm hoping to get to all the big ones I wanna write eventually... I don't wanna write off anything just yet... I won't finish some of the old shit I never published cause it wasn't finished enough LMAOOO
16. What are your writing strengths?
I like to think that it's characterisation and world building. They're what I enjoy a lot and put huge amounts of effort into behind the scenes so I can confidently obscure it for the reader in ways that are fun to reveal without it feeling like bullshit made up on the fly
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I wanna say dialogue but I've had compliments on it in the past.. it's just hard making sure it all sounds like them and not just me saying shit through them haha. Otherwise, I think I get stuck in scene transitions or when things need to have more added or cut out stuff to have a more natural feeling end. I'll get there eventually if I have the time, but..eh
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends how it's handled, I think! If you're writing a bilingual character, or the scene takes place in a location that isn't the language the book is primarily written in, that can be kinda fun. I think I'd be more interested in knowing if and how the reader will get translations, whether the characters in that scene get translations or just understand that language, ect. To be picky and snooty about it, I don't think I've ever come across good styles of this in fic, cause there's not the same guidelines and such for traditionally published books, but like. Whatever lol. It's interesting to me, especially when you get to the territory of made up languages. Depends on the world, the setting and the scene for me I guess
19. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Probably Loz or CT when I was a kid lol
20. Favourite fic you've written?
So far, my st au. Sorry Harland
I've just put so much effort into it and it's been years in the making, it'll take years to continue, but I'm still working on it slowly so. Can't wait to finish it, got massive plans
~~
Not tagging anyone cause I can't be bothered, but if you wanna do these, just say I did!

Actually. Sorry, I know I said I don't like talking about joseimuke on this account because it makes me sound deranged, but I have to share this (esp since I try to keep my sideblog more positive because God knows we need it.)
So one of the projects I like to keep up with is Cordgem, which. God how do I explain this. Uh, okay, so Cordgem takes place in steampunk alternate history Japan while there's a zombie apocalypse going on, which is only focused on some of the time because we need to think about the REAL drama which is the idol stage battles sorry, I've received a note from the writers the word I'm supposed to use is 歌仙衆 and not idol group, which means.... oh goddamnit how the fuck am i supposed to read this-- oh wait, there's furigana. That means Kasenshuu, of course. What's a Kasenshuu?
Uh, well, that's a great question. I am definitely not stalling for time while frantically tabbing through a kanji dictionary to tell you the answer. In this case, 歌仙 (kasen) is a term used to refer to particularly legendary poets of classical Japanese literature. I think this has been translated into English as "Immortal Poets" (the 仙 in it is used in other phrases to refer to Daoist immortals!) Then the 衆 (shuu) part is a large group of people, so...Immortal Poet Gang Battles. That's what they're having. Not idol stage battles. Important distinction.
Hey, note to my editor, I'm highlighting this so I can come back later and come up with a translation that's not awful. Absolutely willing to bounce ideas off you. Thanks.
You are probably starting to see why translator burnout is an issue and why I don't usually do it in text-heavy mediums. In fact I am absolutely positive I've gotten something wrong here in my research but I've spent like half the day going down rabbit holes trying to work out the worldbuilding here because I don't know that much about Meiji era Japan. In fact this could be Taisho era, I'm getting really thrown off by the fact that one unit seems to be wearing uniforms closer to Taisho fashion and I can't tell if I'm just massively overthinking it.
A final bit of background information: joseimuke fandom in EN-speaking countries survives largely on unpaid fan translators. The number of projects that get ported over to the US and translated properly has only recently exceeded numbers that can be counted on one hand. There are a lot of reasons why that's the case and most of it can be explained as corporate bullshit. Either way, fandoms in EN remain very small, grassroots affairs.
So there's been...an attempt to translate it. I generally avoid trying to do my own work on a project that's already been "claimed" by another translator. One, to avoid burnout because there's way more than you'd think out there that either got orphaned by their translators or haven't been touched yet, two, out of respect for the work of other people who are passionate about the same very niche things I am. I'd considered trying to translate it, saw that someone on a formerly blue bird site was working on character bios, and dropped the idea to focus on Executioner instead. A quick look showed they weren't just manually copying from Google Translate so I decided to leave it be and work on my own stuff.
Anyways, back to steampunk zombie Meiji (possibly Taisho, results unclear) era Japan. One of the groups who's dealing with the zombie apocalypse front is a duo unit of offbrand Catholic priests. Here they are.
Tumblr media
Badly cropped screenshot of the site because I refuse to spend any more effort on this than I already have and ripping art assets takes a while. All I will say is, yes, your eyes do not deceive you, Agito (the guy on the left) isn't wearing pants. At least he managed to put on half a shirt.
Now, I can hear you through the computer screen, because I'm psychic. You're saying, "Why does the one priest look like the sole reason he can walk around without flashing people is prayer and an extensive amount of body tape?" This is a valid question, one that has yet to be answered by the writers. I hope such critical information will be addressed in their drama track, it will be very important for cosplayers to know. While often underappreciated, cosplayers are a valuable part of our community. You may also wonder, "Can you back up and explain literally anything about the world, like the Catholic Church We Have at Home who seem perfectly fine with their priests going around only about two-thirds dressed or the zombie apocalypse or the steampunk tech that apparently exists?" Also valid questions. I could but it's funnier if I don't. Besides, you saw how long I took trying to explain one kanji reading.
Anyways, I was very interested in them so I kept an eye for the translated version of their bios. Now, the translation that OP made for their title in the church was "Auror."
Yes, like in Harry Potter.
I was reasonably certain that Auror wasn't a real word, so a friend of mine checked, and it is indeed something that Jowling Kowling Rowling made up. So, how did this happen?
Well, checking back over their JP bios, the term used for their title is 闇祓い (lit. yami-harai). This combines the kanji for yami/darkness with the kanji for harai/ritual purification. Not even close to "Auror." However, 闇祓い was the phrase that the official JP translation for Harry Potter used instead of Auror (I'm assuming because the closest you could get in JP as a literal translation is something like オーラル/ooraru and that sounds...weird? Maybe? I don't know.) This is the term that google will spit out at you if you plug in the two together.
But, you know. Exorcist. The word was supposed to be something close to exorcist in this context, just a lot fancier and using cooler phraseology. You could probably come up with a fun localization if you're smarter than me. But they aren't wizard cops. Free my boys, one of them is a trust fund kiddie and the other is a freak but they still don't deserve to be associated with Harry Potter.
Just. I get it. It uses so many rarely used/archaic kanji readings that a lot of the in-universe terms have to be written with furigana above them just so people know how it's supposed to be read despite being aimed at adults. I made a joke about it above. And translating is really hard. I'm not even opposed to people who are relative beginners to learning Japanese using translation as a way to improve their language skills, I think it's a good way to do it. Also I would be a huge hypocrite if I condemned it because I'm doing it.
But if you see kanji in a combination that you don't recognize or looks off when you throw it into a machine translator, please. Please just get a kanji dictionary. There's online ones to use. Jisho is incredibly detailed. There are even some where if you can't copy in a kanji, you can draw it in a little prompt box. You don't have to get the stroke order right. The detection is really sophisticated. I know it sucks because it slows down the translation process a lot and people can be incredibly entitled about getting translations ASAP at the cost of quality but a little wait is worth it for making something you're proud of and that shows the quality of the series you're working on.
And doesn't commit a plagarism on an extremely cantankerous transphobe too, which is also important.

Alear / Rafal A Support Translation
FE Game Script Translations - FE Novel Translations - Original FE Support Conversations
If you are interested in donating to support my work, please check out my Ko-fi here. Thank you!
———————————
Official English Localized Conversation is also below!
Because the JP conversation is not on Pegasus Knight yet (Japan's biggest FE wiki), I included a link to footage of it on YouTube instead.
JP A Support on YouTube - starts at 38:01
Rafal: You. Take these.
Alear: Huh? What is this? A bundle of sweets?
Rafal: I got sucked into the kitchen as I was walking by it. They threatened me by telling me that I wouldn’t be let go until I made these sweets, so I had no choice.
Alear: So that means these are sweets you made yourself…? I’m happy. Thank you! Um, may I eat them here?
Rafal: Do as you please. Also… I made one with a special flavor, and one with an ordinary flavor. Which would you eat first?
Alear: Hmm… I am curious about the special one, but I’ll start with the ordinary one. … Hm?! I-It’s sweet! It’s really sweet! So sweet it’s attacking my mouth… Urgh…!
*screen fades to black*
Alear: Haah… Haah… I managed to swallow it. Rafal, what about that flavor was ordinary?!
Rafal: Ha ha ha! The look on your face was amazing, Divine One! That flavor is ordinary to me. If something isn’t about as sweet as that, then I have no interest in eating it.
Alear: Th-Then this flavor… I wonder what kind of terrifying flavor it is?!
Rafal: Are you hesitating? You’re free to leave it, or throw it away.
Alear: I will do no such wasteful thing! I-I’m going to eat it…! Huh? Yum! This one is really good! In fact, it’s my favorite flavor!
Rafal: So it is. I flavored it very lightly to match your tastes especially.
Alear: Of course! That’s why you said it’s special…
Rafal: Savor it special. Because there will never be another like it. People usually do not thank others with words alone. It’s something the people here have taught me.
Alear: Thank you very much! These sweets were made with your feelings. By the way… I have a big question. Will you let me ask it?
Rafal: What is it?
Alear: Now my stomach is full! I won’t be able to eat dinner like this. What should I do?!
Rafal: Serves you right! Run around the Somniel until you’re hungry again at least, Divine One!
—————————————————————–
English Localization:
Rafal: You. Take these.
Alear: Huh? What's this? A bundle of... Oh, there are sweets inside!
Rafal: The kitchen staff held me hostage until I made these confections. I did what had to be done.
Alear: YOu made these from scratch? For me? They look wonderful, Rafal! Thank you so much! Do you mind if I have some now?
Rafal: Do as you like, though there is something you should know. The treats come in two varieties. One is quite ordinary, while the other is a...special flavor.
Alear: I'll admit I'm curious, but I think I'll save the special kind for last. Let's try a regular one. *cough* Sweet! Too sweet! Ugh, it burns! Is it supposed to burn?! You call that ordinary flavor?!
Rafal: Hahaha! This whole endeavor was worth it for the look on your face alone. I should have clarified meant ordinary for me. Any less sweet than that and I taste nothing.
Alear: I shudder to think what your idea of a special flavor is. I don't know if I have it in me.
Rafal: If the fear is too much to bear, you can simply give them away. Or discard them altogether.
Alear: You know better than to suggest that. OK, you've convinced me. Here goes nothing! Oh. Oh wow. THis one's amazing. It's all my favorite flavors combined in perfect balance...
Rafal: With your sensitive palate in mind, I used an exceptionally small amount of each flavoring.
Alear: So that's what you meant by special.
Rafal: I would encourage you to savor these treats, because they are the last I will ever produce. Not that I regret the effort spend. As folk here say, actions are stronger gratitude than words.
Alear: It's been an incredible experience. Thank you. I can tell you put your heart into making them. There's just one problem, Rafal.
Rafal: What is that?
Alear: How am I supposed to find room in my stomach for dinner?!
Rafal: Hm-hm! Walk it off, Divine One.

20 questions for writers!
tagged by @emyn-arnens literally over a month ago and im finally getting to it now lol much love thank you for continuing to tag me in things even though im the worst at doing them sometimes.
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 65 (15 of them are under my archive pseud though lol)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 265,381
3. What fandoms do you write for? actively writing for lotr, pacific rim, my secret little marvel rarepair
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? these are so funny they're all my avatar work from before i remade on this blog. well throwback i guess. they're still dear to me.
open arms, atla sokka coming out to his dad
earth system history, atla sokka/zuko college au where zuko is an earth scientist
[redacted h*rry p*tter work from 2016]
love's not for show, atla bato/hakoda sokka creates a master plan to get his dad and bato to admit that theyre dating but they're NOT
knife loves heart, human loves human, james bond 007/q post-spectre fixit fic (my Only 00q and possibly also my only fixit fic?)
5. Do you respond to comments? i try so so so hard but the executive function that allows me to say anything coherent only comes around every so often lol
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? a couple contenders for this one but if we're talking strictly the ending probably i'm not leaving (til we make it home) (exu calamity patia & laerryn / patia & the ring of brass exploring her relationship with love and loneliness and finally being free to express how much she loves her friends only in the last hours of her life and dying happy for it).
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? also a couple contenders for this one but i feel like many of them are tinged with not a small amount of melancholy. so we are going with a big throwback to sun through open windows (atlok mako/wu plotless little morning routines fic that is about nothing in particular but also about realizing you have everything your younger self thought you would never have).
8. Do you get hate on fics? not in a long long time (like probably 7-8 years) thank god!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yes although none of it is published (yet). what kind? idk man whatever im horny about this month. ok but for serious. really been into character developing smut. do u know what i mean. i’m telling you something about who each of these people are and how they view each other through the way they fuck. this probably says quite a lot about me
10. Do you write crossovers? i'm not much for the kind where characters from different franchises Interact, but i am partial to taking some guys and translating them to a different setting. ah to put characters in a situation and watch as the fundamental core of their being stays the same....
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? hope not lol
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? not that i'm aware of!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? yes! we have not finished it but it's absolutely CORE thesis-level influential on my entire psyche. even if we never get back to it i'll think about it until the day i die and that is not an exaggeration.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? of ALL TIME? i straight up dont know if i can answer this one. ALL TIME???? my long-term emotional permanence is NOT good enough and my recency bias is too strong for this. ok i think the only way i can answer this is with the ship that has gotten the deepest into my psyche and my soul. which is yancytendo pacific rim. they. affect me. on a level i will probably never be able to fully explain. the 'giving a guy built only to be a thematic device a personality and a history and deep gut-wrenching grief' of it all. the 'you are in love with a guy who is doomed by the narrative and despite your best efforts it means that he is a personification of all the grief you carry inside of you' of it all. yancy becket you will live forever in my heart tendo choi you will ALWAYS be famous. augh. yeah i picked right
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
hmm probably something about the way you look tonight, my mallorytanner thesis statement fic, the genesis of which was genuinely a life-altering event to me. i was listening to the titular elton john song walking home from a general chemistry exam in the snow and i was struck so violently with An Image for truly the first time in my life. truly not ONCE before that moment had that happened to me. this was in my freshman year of college this fic has existed in various forms for going on FIVE YEARS. will it ever be done. GOD i fucking hope so. i actually do hold out hope for that one.
the one i am actually hopeless on ever finishing is orogenesis, the sprawling expanded stemverse pianjeong backstory au fic. the whole structure of it is quite clear in my head actually. i just didn't have the life experience to create the plot structure to go with the emotional beats when it generated itself in my mind in 2020-21 and now that i DO have it the problem is that the inciting event is incredibly clear to me and yet bears too close of a resemblance to. personal events and horrors. for me to ever finish it! i'll think about it forever though. creating and writing that au changed my life for real it was the longest thing i'd ever written and the best when i wrote it and it's still very close to my heart.
16. What are your writing strengths? characterization and character development baby. evocative use of metaphor in descriptions of both character and setting. lavish description.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? PLOT. cant create that from my brain and i rarely attempt it. i have plenty of stuff to write about that does not require it. relatedly not great at worldbuilding.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? generally don't do it much except for a stray word or two. i don't mind reading it though! tolkien fic writers who translate full sentences you are god's strongest soldiers.
19. First fandom you wrote for? ough this one will be embarrassing. entering the archive pseud. wait is it also tolkien that's funny. life is a circle in some ways. this is first fandom on my ao3 account btw. the VERY first one i wrote for...i will take that knowledge to the grave.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
ah i feel like my answer for this one changes every time but i can't help it, i love many of my darlings equally. this time im giving the spotlight to life holds onto you, my chris pike & jim kirk post-star trek 2009 fic that is a few thousand words of 'what if your sort of son feared that you thought he was taking everything you ever wanted from you and he is right that you have thought that but you are learning how wrong you are.' i cried in the university library writing it and reread it recently and remembered it was good. recency bias baby

For the Taylor Swift Asks!!
Daylight and Lover for Mathilda
Cornelia Street and Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince for Nico di Angelo
THANK YOU FOR THE FIRST ASK! ILY <3
(Also I know the game is romantic but I consider a lot of my f/os to be more queer-platonic because of my own understanding of our relationship :))
But answering the prompts:
For Mathilda <3
Daylight: How has your relationship with your f/o changed your opinion of love? How has their relationship with you changed their opinion of love?
I'd say she really did change my perspective on love. It was whole other experience with Tilla. She's very soft and understanding as a person and that translates over to how she is in relationships. She was very supportive and understanding of me being AroAce and put in alot of effort with me to curate a relationship that I felt comfortable in with her. I also never thought someone would be able to love me after really knowing me and Tilla did.
As for Tilla I think I really changed her perspective on relationships too. As a Princess she's only ever experienced relationships through arrangement and as a political tool. And that has not worked out for her, given the literal scarring it's caused. For someone to be interested in her so genuinely and not because they had to be caught her off gaurd. Finding someone who also didn't shy away because of her scarring was something too.
Lover: What is your favorite part of the life you’ve built with your f/o?
The peace and private. Mathilda's a very reserved person when it comes to her life. She was always in the public eye and when she wasn't she was the target of rumors and speculation. I was worried it would interfere with our relationship but she's amazing at keeping everything separate now that she's comfortable being involved at the forefront again. We always get sweet and private moments together and I love it <3
For Nico <3
Cornelia Street: Do you and your f/o live together? If so, what is your domestic life like? If not, what would it be like if you moved in together?
Nico and I don't live together technically but we might as well because I've basically moved all my stuff into the Hades Cabin. I don't really think anything changed too much since we've unintentionally started co-habitating. Living together is horrendous for our sleep schedules though. I'm a night owl and Neeks is an insomniac so the amount of all nighters we've pulled has grown significantly, lol
Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince: If you and your f/o ran away together, where would you go?
I don't know if I really see us running away anywhere together. I would probably try to convince Nico to run away to a more rural area. Small town and lots of land like I grew up in. Nico would probably take intrest in going back to Italy again. Maybe we'd end up in a rural town in Italy together. I think it'd be fun to raise goats there but I don't know if Neeks would encourage that, lol

guest: none
commercial break: none
translation:
"J: Put in effort and you'll get the same amount of returns. Even if it does not show now, there will be good results if you press on."
credit to k's listography.
cute parts: at 22:15 jonghyun says something along the lines of "before, i knew a hyung who owned a café. it wasn't in hongdae but in apgujeong. there [something with customers which i didn't understand] i sang once. it was short(?)" and then i think he says something about missing times like that? i'm not sure so pls don't quote me on this haha. at 56:45 jonghyun laughs in a cute, embarrassed way (because the listener (or listeners daughter?) requests shinee's honesty). at 57:50 jonghyun talks about the lyrics, he says "i wrote the lyrics of honesty. i wrote the lyrics while thinking about the people [who are] always close to me." at 1:06:00 he reads a message from a listener, it reads something like this "i always listen to blue night [then i couldn't understand what he said after this, just something about the listener being embarrassed because of their age?]" then i think the message read something about them not having courage (to send a message to blue night) but tonight they had/got courage. then it reads "yes, that's right, i'm pregnant. [then i couldn't understand what was said once again, but the listener refered to the baby in the belly as "princess"]. to my happy, handsome husband; i'm sorry, thankful and i love [you]. embarrassingly, i want to request toy's a song to my daughter." jonghyuns reply to this is something i didn't understand but then he says "later, when i get married and my wife is pregnant, i'll just sit beside her and tell her" (maybe he is talking about the listeners message to their husband? "i'm sorry, thankful and i love you"?)
then at 1:13:00 jonghyun reads a message from another listener, it reads something like "for the past year i've been travelling abroad. i haven't been able to listen as much to blue night. and now when i tuned in jonghyun is the dj. [unfortunately i couldn't understand the next part]" then the listener says "when i was feeling alone (there was more to this part than that but i unfortunately couldn't understand) there was this one song who gave me strength, it's mate yearning." then they say something about the first time they discovered mate (which i couldn't understand) and how they have been crying a lot to this song when listening to it alone. "there was a person i was in love with, i loved them very much, but in the end we broke up. one year has passed and i'm still looking to meet someone new, to like someone, and to love someone." the next part i yet again didn't understand, but the message ends with their song request, which is *surprise* mate's yearning. jonghyun replies something along the lines of "you were abroad i see. mate, jung joon-il, is the vocal [of the group]" then he says something about his voice which i sadly couldn't understand. he continues "when some more time has passed, i'm sure your heart will be ready, without you having to try [so hard]."
as usual!!! do not take my crappy-translations as accurate because they are not!! even more this translation, because there were so many parts/things i couldn't understand.
