TO THE EDGE - CHAPTER 26.
Stardust thought it was one of the sweetest things he’d ever said—that he was the bad choice. For all his efforts to hide it, Cosmic was a good person. Stardust knew it, because he was like no one they had ever known before.
Pressed up against him in his doorway, fingers on his skin and the taste of his mouth still pressed into their own, they suddenly thought they understood one of the old family stories about Galileo.
She had been Theodosia before she took the title. She had been one in a hundred cousins all brandishing that Solinoh name over three hundred years ago. They had been a family of criminals, loathed by the rest of the primers and Theodosia had been nothing but a thug. A thug that caught the eye and the heart of a primer. Erasmus Avernath had been her trophy, and then he had become her weakness—a target of his own people as well as hers, because he had been a good person.
Good people deserved better than Solinohs, but Theodosia hadn’t been able to let Erasmus go.
Starlight understood that now and it was terrifying.
They kissed him again, savoring the way he sighed and his hand went to their hip, his fingertips sneaking in under their top to find that stretch of skin along their waistband.
Their palm pressed to his heart, pushing just a little, guiding him another step back out of the doorway and into the room. “You’re a bad liar, Cosmic,” they said against his lips.
He huffed a thin laugh, both hands on them now, exploring their sides. “You’re cracked if you think that.”
Another kiss and another step inside.
“You taste like paint…”
Stardust stopped but before they could say anything he was smiling.
“I wasn’t complaining.” His room was lit by the glow of stars outside the windows.
They stole another kiss, biting softly at his lip before asking, “Am I ahead on the scoreboard now?”
“The what?”
“It’s got to be at least one point five to six…”
He held them back by their hips but kept his hands on them. “The score is not one point five to six now! You did not save me. I saved you. It’s my point. I pulled that merc off of you.”
“Oh, come on! I literally jumped in front of you. If I hadn’t run that merc down, you would have been shot.”
His eyes went wide. “Are you seriously reminding me about the human shield incident already?”
Stardust bit back a laugh, leaning forward to bump their hips to his. “Too soon?”
He exhaled what sounded like it might be a laugh if he let it. “Yes, it’s still too soon. It’s been less than an hour!”
They looked at their own hand on his chest, sliding it up to the base of his neck. The contact was so easy, like they’d been this close all along—like this wasn’t the first time. “I had to drag you back here. That should count as saving you too. That’s another point.”
“So what if you dragged me back to the ship? You think I haven’t had to wake up and crawl back? I told you, I’ve had worse.”
They didn’t like that thought. Had he really been that badly injured and alone? When they first met, he’d said something about being blown up and having to get himself back onto the ship. Had that been true?
“Fine,” he said, the word almost rushing from his lips. “It’s a scratch. No points for either of us.”
Stardust stared up at him, wondering if he’d really just folded because of the look on their face. They reached up and peeled some of the paint off his temple. “We should clean up.”
The ship hummed around them, his mouth slowly curving into a smile. “…Are you suggesting we clean up together?”
How did he always make their heart jump like that? “It would be safer. You might faint again…”
“I don’t think I’m in danger of passing out again. You patched the gunshot wound, remember?” he said, but hadn’t taken his hands off their sides.
Stardust bit down on a grin. “Do you really want to take the risk? You could land face down in your shower…”
“I mean… Yeah, I’d hate to drown in my shower. That’d be a stupid way to go.”
They dragged their fingers down his chest, reveling in the feel of his skin and the nearness of him. They’d had partners before, but nothing had ever made them feel like this, like they were touching a living star—the heat under their palm like waves of fire against the cosmos. “I could protect you,” they said. It was a joke, but as soon as they said it they realized it wasn’t—they realized they would do anything to protect him, least of which would be standing in his shower to make sure he didn’t faint again.
Cosmic grinned, his hands flexing against their sides, like he was just realizing he had them in his grip. “Stardust…Are you trying to seduce me?”
They flicked their gaze from his mouth to his eyes and grinned right back.
“You know that won’t change my mind, right? You’re still on your own as soon as I get my hands on my half of that treasure,” he said, but pulled the zipper of their jacket down.
Stardust curled the fingers of one hand into the waistband of his pants, close enough to hear his breath catch. They turned him and started backing him toward the bathroom. “It’s not treasure,” they said for the hundredth time.
“I’ll call it treasure if I want to,” he countered, voice low now.
“But it’s not.” They kissed his jaw, nudging him through the doorway into that dark adjoining room. They were only guessing it was a bathroom. For all they knew, it could be a closet. They could work with a closet…
He groaned. “It is too…”
“No—”
“Wait.” He stopped that backward movement and looked at them. “Do you think arguing is flirting?”
Stardust shrugged and gave him a wink.
His smile was huge and his eyes as dark as a starless sky in the deep shadows of the maybe-closet-maybe-bathroom. “You are terrible at seduction…”
“I’m doing better than you…”
He barked a laugh. “I could definitely do a better job!”
They pressed up against him, one hand curling around the back of his neck and his breath catching again. “I’m the one that got us this far… and I had you that first day when I took your gun…”
“No! That first time you stole my gun was a fluke. I wasn’t seduced, I was confused.”
They blew a raspberry and smacked the wall, bringing the lights up. “Oh good, it is a bathroom,” they said out loud. It was at least twice the size of their own, which still made it one of the smallest showers they’d ever seen in their life. They’d been on lifeboats with bigger bathrooms, but suddenly the lack of space seemed like a good thing.
“Absolutely not,” he said, leaning back against the counter and watching them shed their jacket. “Go use your own shower. I can’t trust your motives.”
“You’re still pretending I haven’t seduced you? You’re not the least bit tempted?” They raised an eyebrow and turned to face him when they peeled their shirt off.
Cosmic watched, unblinking and unblushing. “I didn’t say it wasn’t tempting… I said I can’t trust why you’re doing it. You might just want to steal my jacket again. Or my gun. Or my ship.”
“I can do all of that and still want to shower with you…” Stardust pointed out. “I’m good at multitasking.” They bent and unbuckled their boots, feeling his eyes on them the whole time.
“I guess that could be worth the risk…” he said, sounding like he was still thinking too much. “Okay, Stardust. I’ll call your bluff.” The bathroom door slid shut behind them and the water in the shower turned on. When they med his gaze, the trails of lights still swirled in his irises from those automated controls. He grinned and spread an arm toward the shower stall. “Come on in. I’ll get that paint out of your hair and you can make sure I don’t faint from blood loss in the shower.”
They looked at him for a second, wondering if he really thought this was a bluff. Did he think they’d blush and run again? Oh, they were so far past that. Stardust stepped out of their boots and right up into his space again, one hand sliding into the back of his hair and pulling him into another kiss—wanting to make him believe them, wanting to make him understand.
He exhaled, a little surprised. “Really?”
“Really?” they mocked.
Cosmic laughed. “Yep. The worst at flirting…”
They kissed him again, wrapping arms around the back of his shoulders to press as close as they could get.
He sighed, smiling against their lips and arms finally curling around them. “Okay. Not the worst.”

The Start of Something New by Yusuf Alioğlu Via Flickr: The Start of Something New Planet Dokeia Interplanetary Travel And I'm on the verge of saying goodbye again. We have come to the end of another adventure together again. We still haven't found the Plunonians. Unfortunately, I have not encountered any civilization on this planet, which I have visited and named Dokeia, on which I have lived for a while. I was quite surprised that I did not encounter a civilization on this planet suitable for life. Just like the other life-friendly planets I have visited, the planet Dokeia was one of the abandoned habitable planets. Why were these habitable planets abandoned? What was the force that drove the civilizations living on it to leave these planets? These are questions that I still don't know the answers to. I have not encountered any negatives so far. When I find lost civilizations, I think I will have learned the answers to these questions. If I can find them. When I started space travel, while I was looking for a planet suitable for life, the fact that I found dozens of planets suitable for life and that they were all abandoned frightened me. What could be the power that frightened entire civilizations to leave their planets? The prospect of encountering this power in my interplanetary travels frightened me. What could I do alone in the face of the force that pushed huge civilizations to abandon their planets? In order to overcome my fears, I stop asking myself some questions. And I don't pay attention to every detail. Otherwise, my interplanetary journey might come to an end. I don't want to go back to my planet until I complete this mission I've been on. THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU'RE DOUBTING SHIFTING a.k.a DIVING INTO THE CONCEPT OF THE SOUL ✶
Tumblr media
the idea of souls is the most beautiful, most romantic thing ever. because...who are we really? we’re not just flesh and bone, ticking along. we’re something more.
your soul is the eternal essence of you—your consciousness, your thoughts, your love, your dreams. it’s the part of you that has existed forever and will continue long after this one human life is done. the body? a temporary rental. the soul? that's the real home.
imagine this: your soul is like a little spark of the universe, a fragment of the stars, wandering through realities to experience everything it can. each life, each timeline, each moment is like flipping to a new page in a book. it’s all about the story, and the story is infinite.
𖥻  THE ETERNAL YOU. who you are right now? that’s just one chapter. your soul has seen other worlds, other lives, other possibilities. every little thing you feel, the deja vu, the dreams that feel too real, the magnetic pull toward certain initiatives, periods of time, objects—that’s your soul saying, “hey, remember when we were here before ?”
𖥻  SOULS DON’T AGE. that’s the gag. you might be whatever age you are right now here and now, but your soul? it's ancient. timeless. wise beyond the stars. think about how you sometimes just know things, or you feel a deep connection to places, people, or ideas. that’s your soul’s memory peeking through.
𖥻  THE COSMIC GAME. your soul came here to play. to love, cry, mess up, and learn. it’s all about experience—because even the messy parts, the heartbreak and chaos? they add flavour to the story. your soul isn’t scared of pain; it’s curious. it’s here to gather every emotion, every shade of existence.
𖥻  SOUL CONNECTIONS. you know those people you meet and immediately click with, like you’ve known them forever? or the places that feel like home even if you’ve never been there? that’s soul recognition. your soul is like, “hey, I know you ! we’ve danced this dance before.” example of this in my life is the fact that i genuinely believe i'm connected with the city of paris—i can't begin to describe the depression i have whenever i leave it or the ecstasy that runs through my brain every second i'm there. coincidence`? i think not.
𖥻  THE UNIVERSE IS YOUR CANVAS. your soul doesn’t just exist in this one little reality. oh no. it's out there painting across dimensions, skipping through timelines, creating infinite versions of itself. and every version? it’s still YOU. all of them are threads in the tapestry of your existence.
𖥻  SOULS ARE STARDUST. LITERALLY. you’re made of the same stuff as the stars. so, if you’ve ever stared at the night sky and felt small, flip that thought. you’re not small—you’re connected. you’re the universe looking back at itself. you’re a whole galaxy in human form.
𖥻  LOVE IS THE LANGUAGE OF SOULS. not just romantic love (though, yes, swoon), but the love you feel for life, art, music, laughter, sunsets, the way your favourite book smells. that’s your soul’s way of speaking. every time you feel love, you’re feeding your soul.
𖥻  DEATH ISN’T THE END. it’s just the soul saying, “okay, cool chapter. time for the next one.” it’s moving forward, exploring, learning, always expanding. the end of this life is just the beginning of another adventure.
𖥻  YOU’RE NOT YOUR BODY. your body is stunning and unique and so, so special. but it’s not YOU. the real you is the consciousness inside, the little light piloting this human-shaped vessel. your soul chose this body, this life, this moment for a reason.
𖥻  EVERYTHING IS VIBRATION. your soul is energy. and energy? it doesn’t die. it flows, shifts, and transforms. when you feel aligned, like you’re glowing or vibrating with joy—that’s your soul saying, “YES, this is it, this is what i’m here for.”
so when you feel stuck or small, remember this: you are a spark of eternity wrapped up in human skin. you are light, love, and infinite potential. your soul is dancing through this reality, and every breath, every moment is a gift it chose to experience.
you’re a freaking miracle. and everything is truly possible.

Cozy Café : A VALORANT Headcanon
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve written for this game, but inspiration struck at a random time. This totally hasn’t been sitting in my drafts since last January
Prompt: If the agents worked at a café, what would their roles and/or signature drink be?
Amidst the chaos of battle, a quaint café stands as a sanctuary for the weary agents. Here, they can take refuge from their high-stakes duels, and trade their weapons for aprons to pursue a different kind of mission: the art of brewing the perfect cup of coffee.
Phoenix: with his vibrant personality and quick reflexes, he’s the charismatic face of the café. Entertaining customers with his barista skills comes naturally as he conjures up dazzling coffee concoctions with a flair of his hand, a burst of flame and a confident grin. His signature drink, The Ignition Latte, is a fiery blend that invigorates even the most exhausted of patrons. Jett: agile on and off the battlefield, she brings her lightning-fast speed and precision to the café. With a swift motion of her finger, she effortlessly crafts delicate latte art, transforming each cup into its own masterpiece. Her Cloud Burst Cappuccino is a smooth delight, creating a moment of feather-light happiness for those who drink it. Viper: the formidable chemist brings her scientific expertise to the world of coffee. With a touch of her gloved hand, she infuses her creations with unique flavors and aromas, leaving customers in awe. Her Venomous Mocha is a mysterious blend that tantalizes the taste buds and leaves a lingering, addictive aftertaste. Sage: with her nurturing personality and herbal knowledge, she adds a touch of serenity to the café and its menu. Her Rejuvenation Tea is a calming infusion that restores both body and mind, providing a moment of tranquility amidst the chaos of everyday. Omen: ever the enigma, he brings an air of mystery to the café. With a flick of his wrist, he conjures up ethereal and smoky concoctions, leaving people wondering how he manages to capture such unique flavors. His Shadowy Cold Brew is a chilling experience that takes customers on a journey through darkness and light. KAY/O: the robotic agent assists in the day-to-day operations of the café, precisely measuring ingredients, ensuring efficiency, and maintaining the coffee shop's cutting-edge technology. KAY/O's presence adds a futuristic touch to the atmosphere, making customers feel like they've stepped into a realm where man and machine coexist harmoniously. Sova: a master archer, you can find him behind the counter carefully crafting his signature drink, The Tracker's Shot: a potent blend of espresso and a hint of blueberry syrup, topped with a delicate foam art of a wolf's paw print. Sova takes great pride in his creation, often using it as a conversation starter with customers, enthralling them with tales of his adventures in the wilderness. Cypher: the watchful surveillance expert provides security for the establishment. He has a keen eye for detail, which translates seamlessly into his signature drink, The Watchful Eye Latte: a meticulous combination of steamed milk, a shot of espresso, and a dash of vanilla spice syrup, served with a meticulous swirl of latte art depicting an intricate camera lens.
Chamber: the polished agent with a mysterious past has a taste for the unconventional, which is reflected in his signature creation, The Trademark Mocha: a rich concoction of dark chocolate, a double shot of espresso, and a hint of cinnamon, sprinkled with a dash of edible gold glitter that gives it an otherworldly shimmer.
Astra: with the ability to infuse her cosmic energy into any environment, she can elevate even a simple drink into an otherworldly experience. The Celestial Brew starts with a base of rich, smooth espresso, followed by a fusion of steamed milk and vanilla syrup, creating a swirling galaxy effect. To top it off is a dollop of homemade lavender-infused whipped cream, a touch of stardust and a sprinkle of edible glitter.

Starry Serenade on the Riviera - cl16
pairings: Charles Leclerc X female (gf! reader)
Tumblr media
Charles, with a sparkle in his eyes, entered their home holding a bouquet of (Y/N)'s favorite flowers. The room seemed to brighten as he approached her, a playful grin dancing on his lips. "Hey there, beautiful," he whispered, presenting the flowers.
The Mediterranean sunbathed Monaco in a warm embrace as (Y/N) nestled into the comforts of their shared home. The gentle hum of the waves drifted through the open windows, providing a harmonious soundtrack to her peaceful afternoon. Little did she know, Charles Leclerc, the Formula 1 sensation and her adoring boyfriend, was orchestrating a surprise that would transform this ordinary day into an enchanting tale.
A gasp of delight escaped (Y/N)'s lips as she accepted the bouquet. "Charles! What's all this?"
"I thought we could use a little break," he revealed, his voice laced with excitement. "How about a special date on a yacht?"
Her eyes widened with anticipation. "A yacht? Seriously?"
Charles nodded, the mischievous glint in his eyes intensifying. "I thought we could spend the day cruising along the French Riviera, just you and me."
A radiant smile adorned (Y/N)'s face. "That sounds amazing!"
The next scene unfolded on the deck of a sleek yacht, elegantly cutting through the azure waters of the Mediterranean. The sun played hide-and-seek with the clouds, casting a golden glow that danced on the waves. The couple stepped aboard, greeted warmly by the captain, who saluted Charles with a knowing smile.
The yacht set sail, leaving the coastline of Monaco behind. Charles and (Y/N) found themselves alone, surrounded by the vast expanse of the sea. The air was imbued with a sense of adventure and romance as the yacht gracefully sailed along the French Riviera.
On the deck, a table awaited them, adorned with fine linens, silverware, and crystal glasses. A private chef, part of Charles's meticulous plan, stood ready to craft a culinary masterpiece. The couple indulged in a feast of fresh seafood, delicate flavors dancing on their palates, while the sea breeze carried the scent of the ocean.
As the day unfolded, the sun began its descent, painting the sky in hues of pink and gold. Charles and (Y/N) settled into plush lounge chairs on the yacht's deck, wrapped in blankets against the cooling breeze. The sky transformed into a breathtaking canvas of colors, a testament to nature's artistry.
Charles, ever the thoughtful planner, produced a tablet for a private movie screening. The yacht became their own floating cinema, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the sea. Laughter and the soft murmur of waves intertwined as they enjoyed their favorite film, the screen competing with the mesmerizing spectacle of the sunset.
The atmosphere was nothing short of magical as the yacht sailed through the twilight waters. The couple, lost in the beauty of the moment, reveled in the serenity of the French Riviera at dusk.
With the movie credits rolling, Charles suggested a change of scenery. "How about lying down to enjoy the stars?" he proposed, a gleam of excitement in his eyes. They found a cozy spot on the yacht's deck, blankets pulled tight around them, and looked up at the night sky.
The stars above sparkled like diamonds, casting a celestial glow over the couple. Charles pointed out constellations, weaving stories in the night sky. (Y/N)'s heart swelled with gratitude for the extraordinary day and the extraordinary man beside her.
"I've never experienced anything like this," she confessed, her eyes reflecting the luminous beauty around them.
Charles, his gaze fixed on the twinkling stars, replied, "There's nothing more special than sharing moments like these with you."
Under the cosmic embrace of the French Riviera's night, Charles and (Y/N) lay hand in hand, creating memories that transcended time. The yacht sailed on, leaving a trail of stardust on the Mediterranean, etching their love story into the fabric of the universe.

TO THE EDGE - CHAPTER 19.
Stardust removed the small metal hatch low on the wall of their room to expose a diagnostic panel. They’d found it weeks ago after moving a crate of protein sodas and used the direct connection to get back into the ship’s control system. Just because they weren’t piloting anymore, didn’t mean they were going to stay locked out. What if there was an emergency? What if they decided to stab Cosmic in the back?
Their heart hurt and they absently rubbed the spot on their chest. They wouldn’t betray Cosmic…but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to die on this journey. And for what? For the promise of treasure? For them?
Stardust mumbled a curse and pulled the panel loose. They’d had to rewire it when they changed its purpose from a general access point to a primary control hub for the ship. If they really wanted to, they could steal piloting controls from here. It would be stupid though, since he could easily take it back from the deck if he realized. He’d put extra security measures in place to keep anyone from locking him out again.
Stardust linked their optic implant to the ship and holographics of the systems popped up in their sight. They ignored those and pulled up their own call log. A hundred unread messages blinked and at dozen video messages waited.
It took some work to amplify the signal and bounce it across a few stations and planets, but Stardust got a call through to Cornelius Contessa Ignacio Li from their room on Cosmic’s ship.
They needed to talk to someone.
Things were getting out of hand past the edge and it had almost nothing to do with their perilous journey or the map printed on Stardust’s back.
They had run away from Cosmic when he flirted with them. Who did that? Not Stardust Solinoh Fairvell! Not until today…
When Cor answered, the image glitched a few times before focusing. They could tell that it took a little longer for the connection to stabilize and deliver their image back to him, because he wore that perfect mask of annoyance when he answered the unknown caller. For those seconds, he had his head cocked back and to the side, cheek high and daylight stretching the dark shadows of his lashes. The pale opal light of his optic implants glinted.
He looked fearsome…and then his image connected and he saw Stardust. The relief and delight bloomed across his features in a sly grin, his shoulders easing back and his head perking up. “Oh good, you’re still alive!”
Stardust spreading their arms as proof. “So far so good!”
Something on Cor’s side of the call took his attention away for a moment, his implant doing a good job of muffling background sounds, but they saw the shudder of the wall and noticed the broken glass across the floor. Light poured into the room around him in a way that made them think he was on a planet or moon—unfiltered.
“What’s going on?”
Cor’s focus returned to them and he waved a hand as if to dismiss the question. “How are you?”
“Shut up. Where are you? What happened?” Now that they thought about it, Cornelius Contessa was barely even wearing any jewels—just the one choker of diamonds. It was a five-centimeter-wide choker, but still…
“I’m on Lu-Pan, darling. I told you, it’s the place to hold up. Turns out all this ocean is great for warfare.”
“What are you talking about?”
Cor stared at them, through a lens that connected them instantly across so much space.
Was he really deciding whether or not to tell them? Since when did they keep secrets?
“One of your cousins tried to have me snatched from a club a few days ago so I moved the party to Lu-Pan… It’s more defensible.”
Stardust was glad they were already sitting, ass on the floor and legs crossed. “Why…” they trailed but they knew the answer. It was either because they thought Cor would be able to tell them something about the map on Stardust’s back or because if they put a gun to his head, Stardust would surrender…and they would. They would put their hands up and give up the whole game.
Cor laughed, the sound somehow full of sympathy. “Come on. Don’t look like that. It’s not a surprise. It’s flattering really. Do you know what this will do for my reputation? First a Solinoh sends a party of goons and turns one of the hottest clubs in the prime into a shooting gallery. You should have seen it. Who knew so many of us were packing? It turned into an absolute bloodbath and the music never stopped. It was in all the tabloids. A bunch of them are speculating that it was a gimmick. I guess we broke a record for the expense just to put everyone back together afterward. I heard a medpod broke under the strain.”
“That can’t be true,” Stardust countered automatically, still absorbing the information. But legit medpods were basically indestructible, designed for long travel in space by the primers afraid of what could happen to them out there in the unknown. The Solinoh’s had the company with exclusive rights to producing the particular cocktail of energy and protein that charged the miraculous machines. It was a great scorn to the family that they hadn’t gotten their hands on the medpods before production and distribution to install the planned obsolescence that would have made them even wealthier.
“So I escaped to Lu-Pan but the shit actually followed me,” Cor continued, grinning and clearly not upset about the fact in the least. “Did you know I have a rail gun on my island?”
Stardust did not, but they also weren’t surprised. Lu-Pan was a massive ocean planet known for mining stations and luxury islands. The islands were all synthetic and had become the go-to escape for all primers as well as the setting for a dozen soap operas.
“I really wish you’d been here. When they realized they couldn’t sneak onto my island they tried to show up with jets and just shoot the shit out of it. I’m going to have to have the whole thing remodeled!” he said, delighted. “And then—” Cor cut himself off.
Stardust stared. “What?”
He bit his lip, trying not to smile but it was far too late to contain it. “I might have captured your cousin…”
“What do you mean might have? And which cousin?” It mattered. It definitely mattered. Capturing any Solinoh was dangerous but some were more vengeful than others.
His grin escaped his teeth. “I mean that I’ve got Vida Solinoh locked in a room downstairs.” He enjoyed the sentence too much. “It’s not my fault. They attacked me. I even retreated to Lu-Pan. Vida brought the fight to my doorstep.” Cor defended and he was right. By all primer rules, Vida was the aggressor and if Cor really had them captured, was fairly taken. The Solinohs couldn’t call it an act of war…but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t treat it like one. “I might not have downed that jet if I’d realized they were piloting it themself. It’s a good thing they’re so recognizable or I might have had them shot in the water when they swam to the surface.”
Stardust gawked. Why was Vida getting involved? Did they want the prize for themself or had someone else in the family enlisted their aid? Was it Genesis? “What are you going to do?” they asked, still reeling.
Cor shrugged. “Breakfast is being set up. I suppose I’ll bring your cousin up for the meal. No reason not to be civil.”
Stardust nodding absently. Prime families had a long history of kidnapping one another. Some stayed kidnapped for cycles until a family dispute or corporate siege could be settled. After the initial abduction, it was generally a pleasant affair… Assuming all went well with negotiations. It did sometimes result in a bullet to the brain for at least one party involved.
Stardust had discovered that kidnapping was a much different experience outside the prime.
“You should have heard my mother. I don’t think she’s ever been this interested in me. She’s talking about marriage negotiations.”
“To Vida?”
Cor shrugged noncommittally and Stardust realized there was a very real chance he hadn’t bothered to ask. A Solinoh was a Solinoh, after all.
Stardust laughed, finally joining him in the madness of the situation. “Cornelius Contessa Ignacio Li Solinoh?”
“It has a ring, doesn’t it?”
It did. But it wasn’t likely to happen. Primers loved a wedding and most had a handful of spouses carefully linking all the most powerful and dangerous families in the known universe into alliances. Most, but not the Solinohs.
There had been a time, centuries ago, when things had been different and the Solinohs had been climbing that social ladder just like everyone else. Since the old days of earth, the Solinohs had been trying to build their numbers and keep that legacy alive. They’d had wealth and power, but they’d always been dirty in a way that the primers sneered at, making it hard to get into marriages with them—to tie their family into that network.
Stardust thought they understood, because once a person took the Solinoh name, there was no escape. Their own great great grandfather had been proof of that. Massimo had tried to leave Galileo. He had left… but he had never escaped. Galileo let him go, paid him an allowance, and pretended he was free. But he was still a Solinoh even when he dropped the name and his daughter—Galileo’s daughter—made him irrevocably a part of that crime family, for better and worse.
Stardust had seen the old records of relatives and marveled at how the numbers dropped off three hundred years ago. They’d been a hundred strong, and then they’d been a handful.
The reckoning of Galileo.
The reshaping of the family.
The primers had thought they would at last witness the fall of Solinoh when that new Galileo rose to power, climbing the bodies of her bloodline to the top. They had been wrong. Theodosia Solinoh had gone from an ensign of her family, a youth generations below the crown, almost lost in the numbers of her cousins—to the Galileo. And she had culled every member that did not kneel, leaving just that handful by the end.
And that handful had been hungry. In the next hundred cycles she was behind four wars, political and corporate, and the family was there to profit off every turn.
Solinohs had monster in their blood.
Stardust’s gaze strayed to their arms in their lap and the veins under their skin.
Monster.
“Are you okay?”
Stardust wondered if Galileo had thought she was different from her family when she decided to topple them. What if they were all trapped by that blood? Bound to be who they were born to be, one way or the other? A monster in the prime or a monster out here in the dark where only one person would pay for all their sins?
“Hey,” Cor said, loud enough to snap them back to attention.
Stardust blinked at the image of their friend and smiled. “Yeah. I’m here. If you’re going to have Vida at your table, remember to keep some guards around. They’ll try to make a run for it.”
Cornelius curled a lip in disgust.
“I know. But they’ve never been abducted. They’ll want to get away on their own before someone comes to collect them, especially since it’ll probably be Fatima.”
Cor’s mouth twitched into a smile again. “Do you think it will be?”
Stardust exhaled a laugh but it felt strained. They were trying to stay in this conversation and this moment—and not think about how they might be getting Cosmic killed out here. Was it too late to cut and run? Was there any chance Genesis wouldn’t run the bounty hunter down even without Stardust onboard?
“Why did you call?”
“Hm?”
“You didn’t call to hear about my triumphant battle with your cousin. What’s going on? Have you found the end?”
The end. The end of the map. The treasure.
Stardust shook their head. “Just checking in. Still on my way.”
Cor studied them and then nodded once. “Okay. Anything else going on?”
Stardust shrugged. “No.”
With a laugh he said, “Right. I believe that.”
Stardust rubbed the back of their neck and cut a glance around the narrow little room with one cot and a bunch of boxes. “I should have taken a ship when we were at that last station and gone the rest of the way on my own.”
“You can’t read the map without another person.”
“I could figure it out.”
“What is this about?”
They scrubbed their face and shook their head. “Nothing. Just getting nervous I guess.”
“About Genesis? You should be.” He laughed, like all that danger was a fun game they played. And it was. That club in the prime had turned into a blood bath and before they were even done putting everyone back together, it was hailed as a fun time. Stardust knew that if they had been there, before all of this, they would have felt just as casual about it as Cornelius did. “If you have to, you could use that pretty bounty hunter for a decoy. It might buy you enough time to get away if Genesis corners you,” he suggested.
Stardust rubbed their heart again. They couldn’t even pretend they hadn’t thought about it already.
Monster.
“You’d make a good Solinoh,” they said with a smile.
He touched his chest as the flattery struck and then they ended the call.
There had been a time when that would have been an insult, just as there had been a time when primers would have turned up their noses at a marriage with a Solinoh. But Solinohs did not marry to climb that social ladder anymore. In fact, they didn’t marry often at all. A few had secret spouses, hidden away so that not even the family would know who they were, but nothing ever stayed secret forever.
Stardust closed their eyes and there, in the dark, they still saw the holographic reminder to check their messages.
Breath trembling past their lips, they opened their eyes and pulled one up—the last one of four sent by Genesis over the last few weeks.
Artificial light made him glow, his dark hair in long curtains and his red lips parted in disapproval. His head tipped to the side, tattoos peeking up from the collar of his shirt to fan up the back of his neck. For the first time in a long time, Stardust was reminded that this man was the son of Galileo. He looked so much like her that just the sight of him sent a jolt of terror right down to Stardust’s soul.
His voice was quiet, because his anger did not require a raised voice. “If you surrender, I’ll let them live.”
They held their breath.
“If you don’t—If you put your hands on the—” he bit off the words and they wondered if he was going to say treasure too or if was just thinking better of admitting to knowing what they were all after. His cold, dark eyes met the camera and pierced through it to Stardust when he said, “I will kill them all, cousin. I will hunt down and see to the end of your pathetic fucking parents. I will make sure every friend of yours burns. And, so help me, I will break that bounty hunter you have chauffeuring you around the edge. You’ll see it all and beg me to end you too.”

Top listeners I personally really like in order because augh
1) Guardian (magic of the heart by goodboyaudios)
2) Earis - I cannot spell their name (the noble trials by vsakuva)
3) Slasher (slasher and basher by escapedaudios)
4) Darlin’ (Sam from redacted audio. His series. I forgot the name and just started the relisten after listening to it once a full year ago)
5) Casper (lost and found by yuurivoice)
6) Stardust (the adventures of stardust and cosmic by jouska)
7) That one zombie apocalypse oneshot from the underrated lady please come back I miss you (I forgot the name and it makes me so sad)

The Great Darkness Without End by Yusuf Alioğlu Via Flickr: The Great Darkness Without End Planet Dokeia Interplanetary Travel And again I am alone in the endless darkness. That great darkness that has no end and contains endless beauties. I have to go through this darkness to reach my next destination. While traveling with my spaceship in this dark and endless space, I am left alone with my loneliness. I'm starting to question why I'm alone again. I think about what I did in my past, my friends, memories and loved ones. I think about my distance from my past. I think about the years of no return. I can't help the smile that forms on my face when I think about it. I think my past is another thing that makes me happy as much as loneliness. My childhood and early teenage years. I did not choose to walk away from my past. As I moved away from my past, I became lonely. The more I got lonely, the more I wanted to leave the planet. And more and more, this desire of mine took on an unstoppable dimension. I guess that's why I went on my interplanetary expedition. I accept that I will never go back to my past. This trip was my way of overcoming my inability to go back to my past. I had created a new living space for myself. I was alone in this new living space. This was my own choice. It was the only decision I made about myself in my new life. Loneliness. I decided to stay away from everyone and be fairly quiet. The best benefit it has given me is that I experienced this space travel that I took off. In the solitude of endless space, my own solitude did not force me at all, on the contrary, it made me happy. The deep silence of space accompanied my silence. I became one with space. This was the result of the last decision I had made for myself on planet Earth.
