I’m finally tucking into the wonderful The Temple Of Fortuna by Elodie Harper, the last book in the Wolf Den Trilogy that I’ve been saving for holiday reading, and there’s description of the statue of Fortuna, brandishing a cornucopia like it’s a weapon, made me think of these Fortuna and Copia illustrations I did for Legonium’s awesome Bellum Sacrum card game a few years ago ❤️

okay everyone needs to shut up and read The Wolf Den series RIGHT NOW.
it’s set in Pompeii (before Vesuvius blew) and it’s about a woman enslaved in a brothel and trying to gain her freedom. fair warning, it will piss you off with the way men treat her and the women around her. but it is sooo good, written well, and you’ll get attached to these women like you know them personally.
(TW for rape, domestic violence, misogyny, slavery, suicide,)

I don’t really remember when the last time I posted about books was on here, but here are some great books I’ve read this year. I finally discovered and finished InuYasha, so there’s that.

ARC Review - The Temple of Fortuna
Hello, everyone! Today I’m reviewing The Temple of Fortuna by Elodie Harper. I enjoyed the first two books in this historical fiction trilogy and have been eagerly anticipating this final installment. You can find my thoughts on book one (The Wolf Den) and book two (The House with the Golden Door) in previous reviews, which are linked via the aforementioned titles. Continue reading Untitled

“relationships that were sacred to you meant nothing in the eyes of society.” / “i did not see their relationship as purely romantic or sexual; it is also an attempt to form a lasting attachment in an unstable world.”

I have not touched this account in like a year..
Anyways
Here's some books/series I've read this year!
>The Wolf Den(trilogy) by Eloide Harper; MC is an enslaved prostitute in Pompeii trying to get herself free. I've only red book 1 so far, but it shows an amazing and unglamoized view of a prostitutes daily life while also writing the prostitutes as human girls and not just objects. Love it sm <3
>All of Us Villians & All of Our Demise by Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Hernan; A multiple pov story about basically a mini hunger games with magic, but a modern setting. Some characters work to destroy the curse making them fight, and some only want to win and I love it. And the characters are so <3 <3 <3 I LOVE them—they're flawed and self-serving, but also kind and altruistic at times. It's amazing 10/10 would reccomend.
>All For The Game trilogy by Nora Sakavic; MC is a runaway from his serial killer father and the goddamn yakuza who joins a d1 exy(made up sport) team filled with misfits. It's really fun and really a great read. 10/10, don't recommend without some trigger warning checks because holy fuck that was something
>Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo; Multiple pov story about a gang in a fantasy setting going on a heist. It is so fun to read and the plot twists?? Amazing. Characters?? Stellar. Morals?? Not even gray they are pitch black. It's technically part of a longer series with Shadow and Bone all that, but I only read soc and ck because I cannot with the chosen one romance, and they can be read without it soo
The Raven Cycle trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater; Multiple pov story about a very close friend group hunting for a dead lost king and meeting with magical forests. Ik it sounds insane but it's soo good. Lotsa found family, honestly insane characters but I love them, and no kissing trope but more deadly. Theres a sequel called the Dreamers Trilogy, but I didn't read it past the first few chapters cause I'm sorry but it's just not the same :( Anyways love it, 10/10 read it
That's all cause I'm gonna be so honest I mostly read fanfics, and some of these i may have started in 2022 cause I don't keep track that well but... oh well

I finished The Wolf Den…the whole book messed me up (in a good way) and I cried near the end - I don’t remember the last time a book made me cry??? It really was what I wanted from a book on that subject, all the characters felt real and were treated with a lot of compassion, and I’m glad I found it. obviously the sequel will be different but I am looking forward to it
