My contribution to Phoenixflare week!
Tumblr media
A wild take of Joshua Rosfield and Dion Lesage abducted after the Remembrance Ceremony. I always wanted to know what would've made Joshua trust Dion like he does in the game. I figured it would have to be big!
A far fetched little AU but I make no apologies! If you want a wild little adventure with these two as children, buckle up!
Released on the "Free Day" of Phoenix flare week in 2024. Not my most common ship but I LOVE them together! Not tagged as romantic on AO3 because they're nine and still believe in cooties!

“Tired of the festivities already, Your Grace?”
Elwin’s hand flinched to where his word would be, had be not removed it for the remembrance ceremony. His other hands tightens on Joshua’s and Elwin positions himself between his son and the voice.
The delegate from Waloed, the terrible Lord Commander Telamon, is standing by an open window. He’s lit by the cool moonlight, with only a hint of warmth added to his features from the small embers on his cigar. He leans casually, and looks amused by Elwin’s reaction. Elwin hadn’t noticed that Telamon had at some point slipped away from the event himself, and silently curses himself for such carelessness.
“Not as such,” Elwin says after a much too long pause. “I merely stepped to being my son to bed.”
Joshua is essentially hiding behind Elwin, though his head peeks out to look at Telamon.
“The Phoenix can’t burn some midnight oil?” Telamon asks with some humor.
“Phoenix he may be, but he is yet a child,” Elwin cooly replies. It feels like admitting a weakness to an enemy.

It got pretty quiet and now a joined event. Can we expect more? More what do you think, Jam? 👀
I hope for a couple interview at the end of the year, to reflect the year and their work and achievements. Maybe with a foreign journalist, maybe with someone from home.
We can look forward to the Christmas pics.
I can see them traveling together. Maybe one of the allies.

"how we mourn with music" could be an entire course unto itself. "How does music help us remember people we are close to, or those we have lost?" and if i tear up over this at 2am? well! it's such a powerful thing how closely music is tied to memory.

Auschwitz survivors the focus of ceremony for 80th anniversary of its liberation, on Holocaust Remembrance Day
Oswiecim, Poland — The 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by Soviet troops is being marked on Monday at the site of the former death camp, a ceremony that is widely being treated as the last major observance that any notable number of survivors will be able to attend. Nazi German forces murdered some 1.1 million people at the site in southern Poland, which was under German occupation…
