I don’t think a context is needed
So I just watched this this evening
and the context doesn't help
by george that was an appalling film
excellent Burn
I don't really know what to say
There was a point where I was like ok actually let's just watch this as a farce, that's not so bad
and then.
y'know, the post that got me to watch Pacific Rim and set this whole thing in motion was gushing about what a great example of a disabled character Gottlieb is
this is. certainly different
Burn though. Ridiculous comic relief side character with a persecution complex and funny 'russian' accent? Throws entire self into it, acts the absolute fuck out of it, the only part of it worth watching

Guess who watched Oxford Murders not once but twice. For research. Of Elijah shirtless and kissing. For the fic, doncha know.
Because in LOTR he’s only found shirtless in awful situations and for a split second at a time, and he isn’t shown kissing anyone on the lips. (The operative words being “not shown,” of course).

They keep giving Burn Gorman small roles with fuckass haircuts and atrocious outfits in movies because they know people wouldn't know how to control themselves if they didn't, they don't want the masses to see how beautiful and powerful he really is because then the public will wake up to the realization these conventional Hollywood appearance standards are all bland and empty and they'll have to admit continuously hiring a stream of generic featureless pretty boys was a mistake and concede to the fact that the people yearn for Burn, which the world is just not ready for, BUT I AM; please please please give that man an actual major lead role in something good where he's not evil and doesn't die and isn't just a subplot there for a short amount of time, and leave his hair alone, I'm begging you, he may look scary to YOU, but his attractiveness just slapped me in the face like the hand of God, and his acting has taken hold of me, leave me alone

(I so wasn’t ready for this)
(It’s from The Oxford Murders)
In this film Burn:
slams Elijah Wood's head in a door
tells a bunch of people the mad hatter's going to assfuck them
shoplifts from Blackwells
gets straddled by Elijah Wood in a graveyard
gets carried to bed by Elijah Wood
prefers the readers' digest
should be presenting a proof to Fermat Bormat's last theorem (but he doesn't have one)

blog intro
i'm making a new intro to include my WIP's as well!
howdy! my name is Rose and i've been around for over a year now! i would love to meet more writers and overall cool people! this blog has a writing/book reading focus while also having a few other things here and there (so descriptive, ik)
i have two alt blogs as well. @eye-motive is my fiction podcast blog (The Magnus Archives. at this point it's only tma and tmagp and some Malevolent here and there) and then @sleepyrxserambles is random stuff that is not podcast or writing specific (it's the wild west on there)
DNI: bigots, TERF’s, ableist’s, homophobes, transphobes, interphobes, bots, you get the idea i hope: don't be a jerk
Tumblr media
some quick facts though:
-xe/they nonbinary aroace spectrum being
-favorite games are open world rpg games, Animal Crossing and Omori
-i read a lot. most of it is high fantasy (but my true favorite books are actually shitty paranormal romance. 'mostly high fantasy' is a cover up i tell so i don't get judged even harsher by the people in my life for liking the books even though they make me stupidly happy)
-um...moving on from that rant. pasta salad is my favorite food (new lore unlocked)
-i like The Great Gatsby maybe a bit more then I would care to admit
-i like Sailor Moon. have for 7-8 years
-some favorite shows are Doctor Who, Good Omens, Dead Boy Detectives, Arcane, What We Do In The Shadows and Our Flag Means Death (please stop canceling my shows, streaming services)
-i also like watching vtuber’s in my spare time. I don’t have any particular favorites but I do watch Gavis Bettel and Ironmouse often

now, the WIP's! i'm only putting one for now because it's the only one i'm dedicated on working on, lol (it's below)
Harrison Weber And The Serial Murder Case Of The Theater Troupe (otherwise known as Harrison Weber And The Serial Murder Case On Oxford Street. i'll also make a better name eventually, promise)
in this WIP it is kinda like Sherlock Holmes with a twist. Oliver Briggs is the newest assistant to the big shot detective, Harrison Weber, known for his expertise in solving serial murder cases. Fresh out of college and still trying not to hurl at the sight of blood, Oliver has been assigned to take the lead on a new case so his boss can see what he is made of. There has been a murder in a local park and the victim turns out to be someone Oliver knows, his childhood friend. While trying to grapple with this loss, unexpectedly his old babysitter passes. Then his cousin. As he looks into their deaths he realizes that they are all connected by only three things; himself, the theater troupe his mother had been a part of and a deadly fire that happened 13 years ago. Will Oliver be able to find the killer before they kill again? Or will he have to suffer the loss of yet someone else he holds dear?
that is my first time writing a summery, lol. also the last two sentences are kinda bad but i needed a hook
also i don't want to say the twist but if you look at my other posts you can tell
but, some updates. i am currently working on fleshing out the characters so that they feel actually human and making a chapter outline. i haven't started to write the first draft yet but plan on doing it soon! i will update more here and on actual posts. i don't really write mystery so we'll see how it goes :D
Tumblr media
thank you for reading! i really appreciate it :D stay safe, take care of yourself and remember to take it easy sometimes

At about the same time, in the University of Oxford, a more serious and insidious threat to Arundel's ecclesiastical authority appeared to be taking shape. A group of dissident academics, headed by the promising young Master Richard Fleming, let it be known that they intended to defy the archbishop's orders on the study and teaching of doctrinally contentious subjects. Later events suggest that their defiance was a response to the attack on their intellectual independence rather than evidence of the persistence of an influential and actively heretical clique within the academic community. To Arundel, however, it was clear that ordinances which had been drawn up with a view to eradicating heresy were being flouted, and he could be forgiven for wondering if some of his worst fears might be justified. There were, too, potential political ramifications to the affair which may have been all the more disturbing to the archbishop because their precise nature and extent were unknown. One of the more prominent men present at the reading of the edict of 26 June 1409 against the works of Wyclif was Master Richard Courtenay, who had until recently been chancellor of the University. As a nephew of the late archbishop William Courtenay, and as a spectacularly well-endowed pluralist, Courtenay might have been expected to be Arundel's most reliable ally in the maintenance of orthodoxy at Oxford. Courtenay's credentials, however, were not restricted to the academic and the clerical. He had already shown an interest in secular affairs, and had spent some time in the entourage of the prince of Wales. While still chancellor of Oxford, he had been the Prince's principal agent in the unsuccessful negotiations for the surrender of Aberystwyth in September 1407. Although Courtenay had almost every conceivable option open to him, the developments in his career from 1407 to his death on the great French campaign of 1415 suggest that he was an increasingly close professional and personal adherent of the Prince. There is no doubt that in the summer of 1411, when the Prince was still dominating the royal administration, Courtenay was to be restored to the chancellorship of Oxford in time to lead the University's resistance to the archbishop's long-awaited and unwelcome visitation. Arundel may have had positive cause for believing as early as 1409 that Courtenay would prove unco-operative. It was certainly likely, in the political climate of that year, that the combination of Courtenay's prominence at Oxford and his links with the Prince would give the suspicious and already harassed archbishop further grounds for alarm. Although Courtenay was certainly no Lollard, might he nevertheless be prepared to embarrass and unsettle Arundel in his ecclesiastical capacity, to further the Prince's cause?
