I’m so nervous with who they’re gonna cast to play the boys. Especially John and Paul. I can’t think of ONE Beatle movie or biopic that did a good casting job. They never look even slightly similar to any of them and it pisses me off. If you were up to you, who would you cast for John and Paul specifically?
Hiya anon, thank you for asking me!
First of all let's look at them (argh! perfect)
Tumblr media
To be honest, we are pretty much the same, I was super excited hearing the news, but now I am so scared to be disappointed by it. I have a feeling they will cast actors that are lesser known. That is, if they are planning to show the early days of the Beatles, John and Paul meeting. As someone who is not that really into movies as of late, I don't think my palate is large enough to know actors.
And it is so hard to pick someone because how could anybody ever be like John Lennon or Paul Mccartney. It's even harder to pick someone for Paul who is just so beautiful for a man. Maybe it would be really good to pick an actress to play Paul afterall (kidding, kidding).
Disclaimer: (I couldn't find a single actor with beautiful doe eyes and lips and a perfect nose for Paul.. I'm sorry!)
Ok here are some actors that made me go "hmmm" (feel free to add your comments on them... or any suggestions ;)
Jacob Elordi - as John or as Paul ... I don't really know to be honest - but I love his acting and his looks. He did a great job as Elvis Presley in Priscilla too and did you guys see his androgynous photoshoot?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Timothee Chalamet (who plays Bob but ?? maybe if he can skip out being George Harrison's boyfriend) - for John - strong brows - curly hair - jaw - I can kinda see it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blake Richardson who plays Paul Mccartney in Midas Man (with better hair) - his eyebrows and nose are really kinda similar to Paul's
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oliver Jackson Cohen (left - as John), Ezra Miller (right - as Paul)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cole Sprouse (for Paul) - please don't torch me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Paul Mescal (for John)

.
.
.
Maybe I'll just rewatch AHDN over and over. Nothing beats the original for me.

Would love to hear back <3

Very interesting Anon!
While I don't trust World of Reel when it comes to filming news (have they EVER posted smthg that actually came true lol? 🤔), this would be a very interesting cast and maybe even quite time-consuming for them if they're really doing 4 separate, interconnected films about the Beatles.
I'll keep my eye on this. Could be exciting! Do any of them know how to sing? 🤔

George Harrison breaking the fourth wall
I think in George’s film George should be allowed to look directly into the camera like he’s on the office whenever John and Paul are being annoying

they better not cast four very conventionally attractive actors in the beatles biopics… i want john and ringo to have proper noses! i want george to have vampire teeth and a unibrow! i want paul to be beautiful but in his own twinky asymmetrically doe-eyed way!

EXCUSE ME?!?
WHY ARE WE NOT TALKING ABOUT THIS MORE?
John: "my Cheri my pau pau... My pau Paul..."
Basically it's just John remembering the Paris trip and singing in French.
This is from his Dakota home recordings

Ok this is what I think the biopics will be like for each Beatle:
John will be so troubled but in a really charming way and Julian will be mentioned but briefly and they’ll make it seem like John was just too busy to be a present father (Paul will make up for it in a vomit inducingly cheesy way). His eating disorder, heroin addiction and other internal struggles (self-esteem, sexuality, maybe even gender,…) will go unmentioned or brushed over jokingly like haha he tossed Brian off, don’t we all at that age. He’ll be the cool and funny older brother & later genius who just couldn’t be confined within a band. They won’t have the guts to call his bullshit and therefore will automatically brush over his kinder and vulnerable sides. He’ll be reduced to a knock off version of the tortured artist blueprint. They’ll never pick up on his pathetic wet dog vibe
Paul will be the charming good guy who’s all in with the band. No mention of how he fucked over Jane and every other girl until Linda; he’ll be a musical genius, too, but in a prince of the people sort of way. They’ll loooove that he stopped eating meat, woke king!!!! Linda will be brushed over by making her into his soulmate wifey who finally helps the charming playboy with a heart of gold settle down. His depression and alcohol problem won’t be mentioned/reduced to feeling a little sad. He’ll be a little bossy sometimes but they won’t ever get it right how fucking annoying he could be. Straighter than a ruler. John’s brother, almost biologically. No homo. They’ll find a way to make the twink who fucked the entire population and had an ego bigger than Neptune into a straight feminist
George will be the indie underground smart Beatle and people on tik tok will start posting thirst traps of the actor with the caption “they don’t make em like this anymore” and then complain about real-George’s teeth. He’ll be so spiritual and smart and he won’t have an affair with his best friend’s wife at all and if he does it’ll be because of some spiritual insight, not because that man couldn’t keep it in his pants for 5 seconds. I’m deadly afraid of the colourful drug scenes where he’ll hallucinate god. He’ll be the perfect boyfriend and Pattie will be played by Sidney sweeney or something. They won’t take a side with the whole George Or Paul debate during the breakup, but George will be too focused on other things to want to stay in the Beatles. They won’t mention the three billion songs John&Paul deemed unworthy. They’ll never do the grudges my man held justice. No one could
Ringo will be the funny guy who luckily survived his childhood and found his passion through a kind nurse giving him his drumsticks. He’ll play an incredible drum solo at 8 years old on his hospital bed frame the first time he ever holds those sticks. He won’t be in gangs, he won’t beat his wife half to death, he won’t have drugs and alcohol problems. He’ll be peace and love from age 0. He’ll be slightly stupid and he’ll mention octopuses too much. They’ll never get it right how he was truly the eldest and how much his vote and opinion actually counted within the band and how much the boys wanted him in the band and admired him. He won’t be a sort of glue to the band. He won’t marry a teenager he met when she was 16 and he 22. He’ll be a weird version of Ken from the Barbie movie, his job will be Drum. They’ll flatten a severely nuanced and layered man to a sheet of paper with the word ‘beat’ on it
I am too afraid to even think about what they will do to Eppy
Oh and each and every one of them will have way too pretty teeth and I am already furious. I want them to have British men in the 1960s teeth. Give me British teeth and jerking off together

Ok here me out, I think paul should be played by Jodie comer. For those who don’t know, she’s an actress who’s from Liverpool ! With make up, dark hair, and some masculinization, she could be a really good fit. She’s got those arched eyebrows as well :) what do you think ?
Hey anon!
She's absolutely gorgeous! As much as I enjoy toying with the idea of a female actress for Paul. I feel like the energy would just be very different with a male actor.
It's hard to find someone gorgeous with Medici eyes. I hope they nail it.

how would i go about making a beatles biopic:
focus in the revolver to sgt peppers era. specially their creativity during studio sessions. im drawing a lot from love and mercy here but anyway. that was a period a lot of people consider like the golden era of the beatles, but they tend to ignore the drama that was also going on. you could focus on their private lives and how the changes they were going through were starting to affect their dynamic as a group. almost like a coming of age. john and cyn were getting to the end of their relation ship and tension was starting to build up, lsd (and other drugs — for instance paul's cocaine use) was starting to really impact everything about who they were, the test drive of the mclennon break up was starting to happen... if you want a point of view i'd pick john. he was just getting started on his self reflection journey that would culminate in his relationship with yoko. but people tend to focus on that part of his life, ignoring how interesting it is to see how he got there. also i think that's the period when lennon/mccartney was starting to take a turn. they were starting to realize that they wouldn't be the same people they were to each other when they were kids and that would be a really interesting theme to explore. maybe culminate in brian's death? the thing about this idea is that it couldn't have a happy ending, it would just be tension building up until it explodes.
also i love discussing this so feel free to share your opinions
