Encanto: Extra Gifts
[this fanfic starts right at the new family picture at the end of the movie]
'La Familia Madrigal!'
As Casita's moving tiles squeezed the family together, the camera flashed.
Sure, the end result of the new family picture wouldn't be perfect, but then again, the Madrigals weren't exactly a perfect family. After all, perfection was overrated.
The Madrigals all managed to pick themselves up, checked themselves for any injuries [Agustin in general], and soon, marvelled at their newly rebuilt house.
'Glad Casita's back.' Mirabel thought.
After all, it wasn't every day you were the only ordinary person in your magical family that had to save your family miracle.
Later, each of the Madrigals checked out the new and improved doors to their rooms.
The gold glows on the doors showed the new and improved images of each family member:
Isabela's image was changed - for her dress had splatters on it, in addition to more exotic plants growing around her, rather than flowers.
Luisa's image on her door had her relaxing on a hammock, similar to the one from the end of the film, and had her holding a barbell in one hand, remembering her super strength.
Bruno's door had rats added around the image, and the image's face now had a welcoming smile on it.
Pepa, Julieta, Camilo, Dolores, and Antonio's doors remained slightly unchanged.
And Alma saw that her door was similar to before, minus the candle, since Casita was now the new magic vessel for the miracle. And Alma's image had a calm gentle smile.
Alma felt a small tear forming in her eye. She glanced to Pedro's portrait, which had been put next to the door, so every time she entered and exited her room, she'd see Pedro. "Oh, Pedro," she said, "Our Miracle is better than ever. Thank you for sending me Mirabel."
It was then her calmness was rudely interrupted.
"Abuela!" Mirabel's voice sounded out, getting her attention.
Alma headed over to Mirabel as fast as her legs would let her.
"Mirabel!" Alma cried, "What's the ma-"
Alma stopped short. She was staring at Pepa, who was staring at something, a worried expression on her face. She saw a snow cloud forming over Pepa's head. Pepa was breathing rapidly. "Pepa?" she asked, "Why are you-"
Pepa said nothing. Still breathing rapidly, she raised a quivering finger, and pointed.
When Alma turned her head to where Pepa was pointing, her jaw fell agape when she saw what Pepa was pointing at - A new door, exactly right next to Pepa's door. This door had a pale yellow frame, which matched Felix's shirt, and the golden image had Felix's image and name on it. On the image, Felix had his hands raised, and a joyful expression on his face, and beams of light were standing from under, and around him, with firework bursts and stars forming around the border.
'No.' Alma thought to herself, gobsmacked. 'This can't be right. Felix is married into the family, so he can't have a gift of his own!'
Before long, all the Madrigals had gathered round to see the sight. Isabela had to lift herself up with her vines to get a look.
They all became shocked, and entranced by the new door; Felix being the most shocked and entranced of all the Madrigals put together. Before anyone could stop him, he walked up to the door, and touched the doorknob, which had the letter 'F' on it - for the first letter of his name.
He almost felt a sharp bolt of energy strike him inside. It felt like a cold chill. And soon, it faded.
"Tio Felix!" Mirabel called, running to her uncle, "Are you ok?"
"Estoy bien; I'm fine, Mirabel," he said. "It was just a cold chill, that's all." he added whilst shrugging.
"Felix!" Pepa exclaimed in a panic, "Are you Ok?!"
"Mi vida, listen," Felix stated, "I'm fine! Nothing to worry about."
But, Mirabel just so happened to notice Felix's hands were glowing, as did Pepa.
Then, Felix noticed it too.
"Whoa." Felix said. "My hands... they're... glowing!"
SUDDENLY!
A beam of light suddenly shot from Felix's left hand, and barely missing Pepa and the other Madrigals.
The Madrigals all gasped and yelped at what had just happened. Then, they stared at Felix.
"What. Was. That?" said Mirabel,
"Felix!" Pepa scolded, "You could've hit me!" Her snow cloud was turning grey.
"B-but I wasn't doing anything!" Felix protested.
Then, another beam of light shot from his right hand, again barely missing Pepa, and the Madrigals, and striking the wall.
Some of the villagers had now seen this, and they were amazed.
Pepa was now very annoyed; a thunder cloud forming above her head. "Felix, can you please stop 'not doing anything' before you hurt someone?!" she snapped at her husband.
Felix didn't answer, he was testing out the strange phenomenon. He let out the light beam from his left hand, only this time, it came out in a smaller beam, and in a pale white light.
he put his right hand into the beam, and it seemed to create little pale white beams, that danced across the walls. As the Madrigals all stared, awestruck, Pepa's thunder cloud faded.
An immense silence almost seemed to follow. almost a half second later, Mirabel broke the silence. "Tio Felix..." she said, shakily, "You.. you've got a gift!"
"I... do?!" Felix said, awestruck.
Mirabel nodded.
Suddenly, Felix's awestruckness turned to joy & excitement. "I... HAVE... A GIFT!" he exclaimed loudly, throwing both his hands up into the air. Almost immediately, fireworks were created high above the Casita, almost as high as the cracked mountains.
Every Madrigal cheered, and awed in amazement at the fireworks, then pulled Felix into a massive bear hug.
All of them, that is, except Bruno, who stood with Alma as they watched.
"I don't believe it." Bruno muttered. "Felix has gained the gift of controlling light. I guess when the miracle returned, it must've improved the magic somewhat, and made it so Felix, who married into the familia, got a gift of his own."
"Si, Brunito." Alma said.
Meanwhile, with the other Madrigals, Mirabel was suddenly realizing something herself. Isabela was the first to notice, and soon, all thew other Madrigals that were celebrating looked at her.
"What's up, sis?" Isabela asked.
"Well, Isa, I've been thinking," Mirabel said, "if the magic gave Tio Felix a gift and a door, does that mean...?"
It was then her thoughts were rudely interrupted.
"Look!" Antonio cried, pointing to Julieta's door.
The Madrigals looked where Antonio was pointing, and there, exactly right next to Julieta's door, was a door with a cobalt blue frame, the same colour as Agustin's vest and pants. As Mirabel went up to it, followed closely by her parents and abuela, she saw the golden image had Agustin's image and name on it. On the image, Agustin had his hands on hips, and a confident expression on his face, and in front of him and behind him, there were 2 silhouettes of his body; the one behind him seemed to be twice his size, and the one in front of him seemed to be half his size. There were arrows all around the border, some pointing up, some pointing down.
Mirabel turned to her father, who was staring, awestruck. "I think this is your door, Papa." Mirabel said to him.
Almost as if he was entranced, Agustin walked up to the door, and touched the doorknob, which had the letter 'A' on it - the first letter of his name.
And, like Felix, He almost felt a sharp bolt of energy strike him inside. It felt like a cold chill. And soon, it faded.
"Papa!" Mirabel called, looking at her dad, who was flexing his fingers. "How do you feel?"
"Si, I'm fine." Agustin said. As he came down the stairs, he saw Felix showing off his gift, by creating light in different colours from his fingers. "Wow. I mean, I thought the miracle never granted gifts to people who married into our familia, but now, for whatever reason it is, it's now actually changing the rules! This discovery is muy grande!" he exclaimed.
Suddenly!
Agustin began to glow, in some sort of pale green light.
All the Madrigals and the villagers stared, gobsmacked.
"Papa! You're glowing!" Isabela said, awestruck.
"Am I glowing?" said a surprised Agustin. He looked at himself, and saw it was true. "I am!" he exclaimed.
Soon, the glow faded.
And then, to the other Madrigals' amazement [and shock], Agustin's left hand grew bigger, almost to double it's size.
"Ay!" Agustin exclaimed, gobsmacked at what he saw. Then, almost immediately, his right hand grew to match his left hand.
"WOW!" Agustin said, looking at his enlarged hands. "Have I been stung again?"
"It's no sting, Papa-" said Mirabel, but then, her jaw fell agape. "Papa!" she exclaimed. "You're growing!"
"He is growing!" Camilo exclaimed.
"Oh my!" Luisa said, her eye twitching.
Indeed. Agustin's body seemed to be slowly scaling up in proportion. The Madrigals, and the villagers watched.
Pepa started breathing heavily again, and her snow cloud returned.
"Uh, Papa," said Mirabel, "I think you'd better get out of Casita!"
The growing Agustin didn't need to be told twice; he bolted for the door, and headed out, bumping his head on the door frame as he did. The other Madrigals, and the villagers, all followed behind him.
As soon as they were all outside, they watched with stunned and shocked expressions on their faces, as Agustin, bathed in the evening light, grew, and grew, and grew, and grew, and grew, and grew, until he was as big as the mountains surrounding the Encanto. And his clothes; shoes, socks, glasses and all, grew with him.
And, almost as quickly as it started, it slowed down, and stopped.
"Holy cow." Felix said, awestruck. Immediately, Pepa fainted.
"WOW!" Agustin said in a voice that rivalled thunder, making the other Madrigals, and the other villagers, wince and cover their ears. "I can see the whole village from here!"
"I think i nearly went deaf!" Luisa exclaimed.
"Papa, I think your gift is to change your size!" Mirabel shouted up to him. "You've become a giant!"
Agustin looked down at himself, and his jaw hung. It was true - he had grown to giant size. "Ay ay ay," said the giant Agustin, awestruck at what had happened to him. "You know," he added, pulling at his shirt, "I was worried for a second I would end up naked, but my clothes grew too! This is EXELENTE!" he exclaimed, jumping a little.
And as he jumped, his giant shoe almost stepped on the Madrigals, and the villagers, who yelped. and then wobbled to stay upright; Luisa grabbing hold of Alma so she wouldn't break her hip.
"Agustin, you nearly stepped on us!" Alma shouted.
"Lo siento, Abuela!" Agustin called, squatting down to see the other family members. "It's real hard to see where I'm gonna step. I never even saw you all down there; you're all so pequeño!"
Suddenly, Agustin began to glow again; this time the light was a pale pink colour. "Uh?" he said, puzzled. "I'm glowing again!"
The Madrigals watched as Agustin's shadow that covered them seemed to quickly go down, and down, and then, it disappeared.
"OK, Papa, I think you've had your fun now." Mirabel said.
But there was no answer.
"Papa?" Mirabel said, her heart starting to pound. "Papa?!"
"Agustin? Mi amor?!" Juileta called, starting to sound panicked. "Where are you?"
"Tio Agustin!" Antonio called out loudly. "Where are you, tio?"
"Agustin?" Alma called. "Dónde estás?!"
"We have to find Papa!" Luisa cried. "It's getting late!"
By this time, Dolores was already using her super hearing to listen out for Agustin. Suddenly, she heard something. "Espara! I can hear something!" she called. Mirabel and the other Madrigals all stopped panicking, and listened.
"Hey! HEY! Estoy aqui! I'm down here!" squeaked a tiny voice. It was very very close.
"That's Tio Agustin!" Dolores said. "He's close by, but he sounds very squeaky for some reason." she added.
Mirabel was the first to take action. She knelt down to her knees, and looked, and almost immediately, she stared, jaw hanging. What she had saw was a tiny [and thankfully, fully clothed] version of her dad, jumping up and down, on a rock.
Agustin looked no bigger than a bug.
"Mirabel!" squeaked the tiny Agustin.
"Papa?!" she said. "Is that you?"
"Si, Miraboo, It IS me!" Agustin yelled.
'Ay ay ay.' Mirabel thought. 'Papa's gift can make him tiny as well as a giant. I'd better pick him up before anyone steps on him.'
Mirabel picked her miniscule dad up, cupping him gently in her hands.
"No te precoupes, Papa." said Mirabel. "I'll take you back to Casita."
As she turned round, Alma caught up to her. "Mirabel!" she cried, "where's your father?"
"Well, Abuela," said Mirabel slowly and thoughtfully, "there's good news and bad news."
"What's the good news?" Isabela asked.
"I found Papa." Mirabel said.
"Oh, that's a relief." Pepa said, gasping for breath.
"Where is he, Mirabel?" Alma asked, anxiously.
"Actually, Abuela, that's the bad news." Mirabel said. She showed the bug-sized Agustin on her hand.
"Hola." the tiny Agustin said sheepishly.
Julieta's eyes widened, upon seeing her miniscule husband. Alma's jaw hung.
"Whoa." Dolores said. "Tio Agustin is tiny!"
"And I thought Bruno was tiny enough." Camilo joked, earning him a sharp nudge from Felix, and a scowl from Bruno.
"I think his gift is being able to change his size." Mirabel stated.
'No prizes for guessing.' Alma thought to herself.
"Papa, could you grow yourself back to normal?" Mirabel said.
"I can try." Agustin said.
Mirabel put her father down gently on the ground.
Agustin took a deep breath, and, Within seconds, Agustin grew right back to his normal size. Julieta hugged Agustin tightly. "Oh, mi amor," she said, "don't ever scare me like that again!"
"We were pretty worried." Luisa admitted. "I have to say, we were worried."
"Yeah." Camilo said, "It was almost as bad as the time the village donkeys got into Casita."
"I remember that, too." Felix said. "I haven't forgotten when it happened - we spent all morning herding them out, and all afternoon cleaning out donkey dung, and your mama, she screamed so loudly, hailstones fell down into-"
"Alright, I get it!" Pepa snapped at her husband.
"I was just stating." Felix said, raising his arms in an 'I Surrender' gesture.
"I guess that means Tio Agustin's got a gift, too!" Antonio said, "Just like Papa!"
"Certainly has." Mirabel said to her youngest cousin.
As Alma said the family's thanks to the villagers for helping them to rebuild the house, The Madrigals walked back into Casita, talking about how eventful the evening had been, it was about then Alma suddenly noticed something. "Espara!" she called. The Madrigals all stopped.
"What's up, Abuela?" Mirabel asked.
Alma motioned to the door above the front door. The door that had once led to the nursery that had been Mirabel's room.
Almost immediately, the Madrigals looked at Mirabel.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Mirabel asked.
She soon found out; for Alma led her to the door.
Mirabel saw her image - it had her image carved in it, in a pose almost similar to Alma's door. Around her, were butterflies swarming around, and in her hands, was a heart-shaped ball of light.
Then she saw her doorknob, with the Letter M on it. It was similar to the doorknob she'd placed on the house when it was rebuilt.
Alma motioned her to touch the doorknob.
Mirabel slowly reached for the doorknob, but stopped. She was hesitant.
She thought back to her gift ceremony, when her door vanished before she received her gift.
Was this fate, giving her a second chance to relive her gift?
Only one thing was for certain - the only way to find out was to find out.
She shut her eyes, and took a deep breath, and touched the doorknob. The door glowed brightly. And then...
She opened the door.
The door led to a room which looked almost similar to the nursery/Mirabel's room from before - albeit with a colour scheme that matched her dress - white on the ceiling, teal versions of the nursery walls, and dark brown floor. and there were decorations on the walls that also matched her embroidery on her clothing.
Mirabel looked up, and gasped.
"Wow." she said, her eyes widening.
Suddenly, her hands glowed, and a swirl of butterflies swirled around her, like magic, all in the colours of the Madrigals' outfits. it lasted for a while, and then stopped.
Other than that, Mirabel looked puzzled. She still looked the same giftless Madrigal she was.
"Wait." she said, puzzled. "Where's my gift?"
Alma stepped up. "Mirabel." said Alma. "I think I found out why you didn't get a gift at your ceremony."
"Why?" Mirabel asked.
Alma smiled gently. "You care for and respect our family. You helped them through their problems, and helped to save the miracle. Your gift is you."
"It is?" Mirabel said, still a little confused.
"You will be a true matriarch of the Familia Madrigal one day." Alma said.
Mirabel's jaw dropped. "Me?!" she said, puzzled, "But, Abuela, I'm not old enough for this! I'm not sure I can do your job! I-"
Alma cut her off. "Mirabel, I can't keep running the Familia Madrigal forever." she said. "Soon, I will find a sucesora, someone to take over my mantle, my duties, my responsibilities, and my love and caring for the family, and the Encanto, when I go."
Mirabel knew this would be true - one day, her Abuela would pass away, but no matter what, she'd always support her family, until the day she retired as the matriarch of la Familia Madrigal.
"And," Alma finished, "I know just who my sucesora will be."
Mirabel looked out at the town and village of the Encanto, as it glowed in the darkening twilight, and realized that soon, in the future, the task of being the matriarch of the family, and possibly the village, would fall on her shoulders.
When that would be; even her Tio Bruno wouldn't say, but she knew that now her family could use their gifts to be themselves, and help others, they would be fine.
"Si, Abuela." Mirabel said proudly. "I wouldn't have mi familia any other way."
Both she & Alma hugged, and the other Madrigals watched from the door.
They knew things were gonna be much different in the Encanto now, but no matter what, they'd get through it as a family. Things were gonna be just fine.
After all, the Madrigals now all had gifts, and they were a complete family - what could happen?

MIRABEL HAVE A DOOR - AU
What if the Casita gave Maribel a door, but it was different from all the others:
1. The door that appears to Maribel on her 5th birthday is different from all the others in her family, for the simple fact that it is a normal door. No drawings or her name inscribed on it, if it hadn't been created from the Casita's magic anyone would have said it was a normal door to any other home.
2. Inside it was also a common room only more spacious, an ordinary single bed with a common table beside it, nothing magical or implying that Maribel was gifted. The family was surprised and Maribel was sad and confused, if she didn't have a gift, how did the Casita give her a room?
3. Alma still asks Bruno to look into the future, worried because Maribel's ceremony was so different from the others. Bruno tried to see the future but couldn't see anything, nothing to do with Maribel or the magic, it was all a big blank canvas, cracks in the canvas still showed, but he couldn't see anything else. In the end the canvas he had was just a empty space with cracks, no matter how many times he saw it that was always the end result.
4. Bruno ended up not running away and showing the family the result, a blank and undecipherable future was what Mirabel expected, even confused they had nothing to explain what was happening and only in the next few weeks things became clearer.
5. In the week following the ceremony, Mirabel was still confused and sad about what was happening, her cousin Camilo in an attempt to cheer her up ran around transforming into several people and making funny faces, in one of these times he tried to transform into her and he couldn't, he tried a few more times and even then he always ended up looking like other people even though they looked like his cousin weren't her.
6. Casita also didn't seem to respond to Maribel anymore as she did to the others, one afternoon when Camilo asked her to play the slide on the stairs as they normally did in Maribel's turn she ended up falling straight to the ground, the stairs turning into nothing and causing her to sprain the ankle in the fall. Her mother ran with an arepa prepared for her carrying her daughter in her lap and stuffing the food in her mouth, but the bruise didn't seem to improve at all, even after three arepas Maribel was still crying in pain and her ankle only seemed to get worse, her father then he had to take her to the village doctor, who despite being infrequently requested, still kept his doors open for emergencies.
7. Maribel had to spend the next two months with her foot injected, which caused a great panic in the family, as this had never happened before. Alma was especially concerned about both the magic and how the village would view it, an injured Madrigal has never been seen in the village before.
8. Another strange fact was that Luísa, until then 9 years old, did not have the strength to carry Maribel for a long time, unlike the other adults she could easily carry around the house throughout the day, or the animals she normally carried around the village. Luiza felt bad for not having the strength to carry her younger sister for long periods of time.
9. Dolores couldn't hear her cousin either, which left her both distressed and relaxed. It was nice not to have to listen to one person all the time, but it was also scary how often Mirabel could sneak into a room and scare her or how she could just disappear into the background noise.
10. Then it all clicked into place in the Madrigals' minds. The door unwritten, the Casita not responding, the powers of others being useless when used directly on Mirabel, the child was not giftless, she was the opposite of magic to be exact she was the anti-magic of the family. The only one who couldn't be affected by either of them' powers.
11. Mirabel was still treated a bit like the outcast of the family, but she had the support of her parents and Uncle Bruno who felt safe not foreseeing a bad future for at least one person he loved, Dolores also felt much more comfortable around her. cousin, as if she could take a break from her powers around her. Overall her life wasn't much different from the original, she ends up having to learn a lot more about first aid as her mother's food magic doesn't help her and also being much more independent of her family's powers helping the village to find their own solutions alone.
12. Her aunt Peppa, her sister Isabela and her cousin Antonio weren't affected by Mirabel as their powers didn't really work directly on people. Yet since Peppa made it rain all over town Mirabel still got wet, Isabela's flowers still fell on Mirabel when her sister was being especially irritating, and Antonio's animals could still talk to him or talk about Mirabel when they felt like it.

Rapunzel Pt. 5

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Finale (6)
This will be take place during the events of the movie.
Pairings! Bruno x Daughter!F!Reader, Camilo x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Y/N felt Camilo’s lips on hers. She didn’t dare to let go and kissed him back. Camilo let go of the kiss as Y/N buried her face on his shoulder, earning a chuckle from the shapeshifter, “Why did you kiss me?” Y/N mumbled as Camilo sigh, “I don’t know… I just did…” Camilo said as Y/N let go of him, “We shouldn’t be doing this… I...” Y/N said but Camilo hushed her, “You don’t have to answer right away.” Camilo reassured as Y/N turned her head to the side and saw flowers of different colors. She let go of Camilo’s embrace and picked up one, “’Milo... Does Isabela grow such flowers?” She asked the boy, who walked up to her and took the flower from her hands, “No... I don’t think Isa would make Strelitzia’s... Something’s up.” Camilo said as Y/N saw more of different kinds of flowers on Casita’s center. The duo went there and saw Isabela and Mirabel falling from the sky. They landed on the bed of flowers, laughing. Y/n’s eyes sparkled by the sight of them but it was only for a short time because Alma had to ruin it.
“Get behind me.” Camilo said to Y/N, who now hid behind Camilo. Dolores was with Alma as she entered Casita. Dolores gestured Y/N to hide behind her instead. Y/N watched as the argument between Alma and Mirabel commence, the cracks grew larger and larger. Until Mirabel couldn’t take it anymore, “The miracle is dying because of you!” Mirabel said as both giftless people gasped. Then the cracks began to form fast. Y/N saw Mirabel climbing up the ladder that Casita made. Camilo ran towards the corridor while it collapse, attempting to save Mirabel and Isabela uses her vines to help her little sister. But one by one, their gifts fades then the house kicks everyone out, including Y/N.
She didn’t what came over her but she bravely opened Casita’s doors and forced herself inside, “Y/N!!” Camilo shouted and ran to the doors to help her.  Everyone to turn towards the girl, who is now beside Mirabel. Pepa realized and try to help her son to open the doors, “Mirabel!! Y/N!! Get out of there!!” Felix and Agustin, alongside Julieta and Luisa shouted as Mirabel and Y/N got the candle. Mirabel saw the tower of Bruno’s about to fall, Y/N noticed her gaze and pushed Mirabel off the roof. Mirabel gasped and saw Camilo behind Y/N. She gave a sad smile to Mirabel but Camilo pushed her. Instead of Y/N taking the hit... Camilo did. Casita then gathered its furniture and protected the two girls. It did the best to protect Camilo too but he was badly injured.
When it all stopped, Y/N did not hesitate to stand up and find Camilo among the rubbles, “Camilo!!” She shouted with tears in her eyes. ‘Por favor, let him be alright!’ Y/N wanted to believe that he’s alright. Pepa saw Y/N then went to her, “Y/N... Y/N, honey... Where’s Camilo?” Pepa asked the girl as she shook her head, “He took the fall... I can’t loose him... I can’t-” Y/N said as Pepa hugged her hushing her, “We’ll find him... We’ll find him corázon...” Pepa said as she delivered the message to Felix, who immediately went to look for him. Y/N’s tears fall down from her eyes as she wishes the love of her life be alright.
Luisa the joined the search, who founded Camilo... “I found him!” Luisa shouted making everyone turn to Luisa, now holding an unconscious Camilo. Y/N had her hands on her mouth in shock, “Cami...” Y/N said as she rushed towards Luisa’s side. At this point, Mirabel left and the rest of the family went looking for her. Some of the villagers who remembered you, offered to help Camilo by letting you and him stay at their place. “Will Camilo be okay?” Cecilia, the little girl with braids asked you as you nod, “He will be fine...” You said but you weren’t so sure if this was true... “Ceci? Let’s leave Y/N and Camilo alone for a bit.” Cecilia’s mother said as she gestured her daughter to let you alone. Y/N mentally thanked her as you never leave Camilo’s side.
Julieta has been visiting from an hour of searching for Mirabel and came back to check on Camilo, “He’s still unconscious and his wounds are slowly healing... But I’m not sure when he’ll be able to wake up...” Julieta said to Y/N, who just held Camilo’s hand, “I shouldn’t have come back... I shouldn’t have...” Y/N rambled as Julieta shakes her head, “No, Y/N... I’m glad you came back to us... To Camilo... He has been a mess when you left.” Julieta said as Y/N turned her head towards the unconscious boy. “He never eat... He just locked himself in his room, clenching the necklace you gave to him. It was heart breaking... The only time he came to eat is at midnight. He tried to forget you but in result, he uses his gift too much... Causing him to have identity issues and often goes to me for advice.” Julieta said as Y/N lowered her head. “Now that you’re here, mija... Camilo can be himself again.. To be the happy go lucky he was when he’s with you.” Julieta said as she hugged Y/N.
The Madrigals eventually found Mirabel but Camilo was still unconscious… Luisa took Camilo out of the lady’s home and lay him down on the floor. Y/N was with him, of course, but Alma stopped her, “Abuela.” Mirabel said to Alma stood in front of Y/N. “Abuela Alma… I—!” She said but Slma embrace her, “I’m so glad you came back… You and Bruno…” Alma said as Y/N hugged her back. “Y/N… Camilo might not make it..” Julieta broke the news to Y/N as she slowly walks towards Camilo. She kneel down and stare at him, “Oh ‘Milo… If only you… Didn’t pushed me… Then…” Y/N said as she carefully held his body close to her. A single tear dropped from her eye fell out and jsut like in the Tangled movie, it glow like a flower.
Everyone there was mesmerized, even Y/N. She watches the petals flow on the air as it slowly disappears. Then a cough from Camilo was heard. Y/N shot her head back at Camilo, “Camilo? Cami?” Y/N called as Camilo’s eyelids slowly open. Her eyes widen, he turned his head to her, “…Y/N?” Was the first thing he said that made Y/N tear up again, but this time with a smile. “Cami!” Y/N said hugging his neck as Camilo tried to get up and hugged her too. The people in town and the Madrigals had their eyes wide. Pepa, Felix and along side Dolores and Antonio went up to the duo, “Oh! ¡Mi bebé!” Pepa said as they all took turns on hugging Camilo. Camilo tried to get back on his feet but Y/N stopped him, “Hey… Hey, you can’t get up yet.. Your wound is deep.” She said making him look down at his bandaged wound. His face lit up, having a great idea, “Then… Why don’t you sing to heal me?” Camilo smirked and said it in a flirting manner. Y/N giggled and nodded.
She places her hair and took a deep breath. The next words came out of her mouth are her Healing Incantation. Alma’s eyes widen, she couldn’t believe that Y/N have a gift all this time… She isn’t even a Madrigal by blood. When Y/N stopped singing, Camilo’s wound was still there but it didn’t hurt one bit. “Y/N… You have a gift?” Alma approached the long haired girl as Y/N stood up. “Yes, Abuela Alma… I couldn’t tell you because you would see me as a threat to Encanto…” She said as Alma shakes her head, “That’s not true, mi corázon… If I did see you as a threat then I wouldn’t have let Bruno keep you in our home.” Y/N realized that she was just scared of being herself and only look for approvals… “Well then! Let’s get to work! We’re not gonna sleep in the cold like this!” Mirabel said as the townsfolk and the Madrigals get to work on building Casita again. Y/N didn’t let Camilo work since he just got back from the dead… And Camilo took this chance to get to know her for a while.
“So, you were in the walls with Tio Bruno this whole time?” Camilo asked in shock as Y/N chuckled, “Yeah… Although, I’m the only one who walks evry now and then to each of your rooms.” Y/N replied but Camilo couldn’t process it, “Then… You and Tio heard the song?” Camilo asked very curiously and filled with regret. “Well… Yeah…” Y/N as Camilo suddenly hugs you, “I’m so sorry… You know how I was young back then…” Camilo said as you reassured him, “It’s alright… I’m sure Papá would understand it.” She said making Camilo break the hug and look into her eyes. “Did you know that you’re…” Camilo hesitated.
Y/N soften her gaze and nodded, “I have known after I discovered my gift…” She said making Camilo shot his head to hers. “You do?” Camilo asked as she nodded. “Then… Can we become… You know…” Camilo scratches his back neck as Y/N shrugged, “I don’t know… I—“ Y/N wanted to say something when was now in commotion in front of the road to the new house. Y/N helped Camilo up and they went there and saw two people arguing with Pepa, Julieta and Bruno. “Give that girl to us!!!” The man said, “You abandoned her in a box in the cold! And you expect me to give my daughter back to you?!” Bruno argued as he was holding back by Luisa and Isabela. “That girl is our daughter! Not yours!” The woman shouted. Y/N’s eyes widen, “What do you mean?” The five adults heard her voice and they turned around to see Y/N and Camilo, watching the scene.

Okay, so I’ve been hyperfixating on Encanto for the past few days and have a concept to submit for your consideration.
I am not claiming this as a headcanon or anything so serious, as everything to follow has a canon explanation that’s perfect the way it is. I’m just positing that I am primed shipping trash with no shame so yea 🤷🏻‍♀️ I gotta yeet this outta my brain 👇🏻
We know the canon reason for Mirabel not having a door of her own, or her own gift. It’s because she’s set to take Alma’s place as head of the family once the current matriarch passes on. BUT, let’s assume this isn’t the reason for a moment. Expand the theatre of your imagination for a hot second.
Because Mirabel isn’t the only Madrigal without their own door or gift. I am of course talking about Felix and Augustin. Sure, they married into the family, but they are still Madrigals in their own right! (They took their wives last name, the sweeties 🥰)
Felix and Augustin don’t have their own rooms or gifts because they support the gifts of their wives. Felix is a calming presence at Pepa’s side and helps her manage her emotions (and consequently her gift) in a much healthier way than Alma was encouraging. He also shares her room. Because they are married, sure, but also because he doesn’t have his own gift. His ‘function’ in the Madrigal family is a support structure for Pepa and her sobby sobby windy windy sunshine gift 😊
Augustin does the same for Julieta. Julieta’s sense of duty and responsibility keeps her from ever having a moment to breathe. She’s constantly cooking food for the entire village, and distributing it 24/7. Augustin supports his wife’s gift by taking over household responsibilities she won’t have time for. You can’t tell me he isn’t a very attentive Father, and clearly tries to help with wood chopping and other maintenance so Julieta won’t have to worry about it. Also his clumsiness and habit of getting injured probably helped her get better at cooking 💙
Both men don’t and can’t have their own gifts, and thus they share and support the gifts of their wives and thus, share their rooms. So what does this mean for Mirabel?
Maybe, the reason Mirabel doesn’t have a gift or a room, is because she’s destines to play this supporting role to someone else’s gift? 😉
If you looked at the tags of this post you can see where this is going =3= I apologise for nothing. But let’s explore the doors themselves first.
A concept that’s probably not canon: You can’t (or shouldn’t) enter a room you don’t own. Could just be an unspoken household rule that you don’t go into another person’s room without invitation, but still =3=
Of course, it’s considered rude af, and maybe Casita enforces this rule in preventing people from entering without due cause. So Mirabel entering Isabela’s room to ‘hug it out’? Casita probably allowed it because it’s prophesy. But yea, no wonder flower power girl got so pissed with this idea XD not canon but stick with me here!!
Who’s room does Mirabel enter without any issue? Despite the door probably being locked to everyone else as the person it belongs too is cut off from the magic? Bruno’s ⌛🦋
Let’s get Mirabruno up in this hizouse 😎
Mirabel as a giftless support of Bruno’s future vision. 🤔 She encourages him to have a vision quite successfully, and provides a fresh perspective on what they’re seeing. She’s clearly a more hands on support, as she literally interacts with Bruno’s gift by holding hands 💖 And notices things Bruno missed, namely the butterfly that granted further insight that Bruno wouldn’t have noticed on his own.
That... that’s literally it 🤷🏻‍♀️ so...
...

There an Au where Bruno died before the kids were born and after Mirabel’s ceremony she started to see him and because she was picking up his habits Everone thought she was Bruno reincarnated
Aaaaaahh!
After years and years of getting bad prophesies from him, some of the villagers decided to…end the source of them…
Or more accurately; Kill Bruno…
So, after luring him to an empty part of town to do a vision, which was another bad one, the villagers pretended to be okay with it, and offered him a drink as a “Thank you”.
Unbeknownst to Bruno though, the drink was poisoned…
He drank it, and at first the townspeople struck up a conversation with him like they’ve always been cool with him, like they didn’t intend on killing him, and Bruno finally felt like he belonged.
But then the poison took affect…
Slowly, all so slowly, Bruno felt immense pain in his stomach, and stumbled to the ground.
All he heard where those same nice villagers insulting him, calling him a disgrace and a stain to the Madrigals, saying that he was better off dead anyways, and that everyone would be happier without him around…
No one heard them say those words. Dolores was a month away from receiving her gift, so no one heard anything…
Eventually, after what felt like hours, Bruno had died, slow and painful, without any of his loved ones around…
Those villagers would dump his body in the jungle for the jaguars to eat…
But what they didn’t know was that Bruno came back as a ghost they couldn’t see, free to roam the world.
Bruno however, chose to stay and roam Casita, wanting to stay near his family he loved so much.
Meanwhile, Alma became quite worried when her son didn’t return home before dinner. Even when he had become distant to the family, he would always eat dinner with them.
So, she went to the town to ask if the townspeople have seen Bruno somewhere, but all of them said they haven’t seen him.
Within days, rumors started to circulate that Bruno had ran away, some even saying he had left the Encanto somehow.
Alma and the family didn’t believe the rumors at first, but as time passed, Alma and Pepa in particular began to believe those rumors. And so, “We don’t talk about Bruno” became a thing.
But they had no idea. They had no idea that their son and brother was murdered by those same townspeople who spread those rumors…
Meanwhile, Bruno saw his beloved family go about their daily lives, and saw his nieces and nephews being brought into the world.
He would watch over them, play with them as if they could see him, but he knew they couldn’t. It was a nice thought though.
But all of it changed when Mirabel’s gift ceremony arrived.
Upon touching her doorknob, the girl’s door faded away in front of her eyes, leaving her without a room and giftless…
She went to bed crying that night, in the nursery again, all alone…
Bruno went to check on her, and upon seeing her crying her eyes out, instantly went to comfort her.
“Everything will be okay, Mira.” He said, floating behind her. “You’re just as special as everyone else.”
After having said that, Mirabel stopped crying, and turned around, facing him, as if she heard that??
“Who are you?” Mirabel asked the ghost, looking at him.
Bruno couldn’t believe it. She could see him??

I was thinking of an ENCANTO CURSED GIFT AU: Where instead of cracks, casita shows the destruction of the family by corrupting the gifts, all the stress, sadness, and anger (especially of Abuelita) make the magic turn into a curse. Starting with Mirabel and them little poor Antonio (still deciding what curses would they have, a little help, please?). Just imagine, this still would portray Maribel as an outcast and the family as their own villains. And Antonio and Maribel relation as brothers!!
Oh nice!
As for what the gift's curses could be (in order), maybe:
Mirabel abruptly loosing her sight, becoming blind.
Isabela only growing dangerous plants, even though she wanted roses.
Luisa losing control of her strength...
Julieta's food only hurting people even more.
Pepa's rainstorms and hurricanes becoming more severe.
Dolores' hearing becoming too loud for her to handle with no pause.
Camilo not being able to shape shift anymore.
And Antonio not being able to talk to certain animals anymore...
Bruno won't suffer, because he already sees his gift as a curse.
Agustin and Félix also won't be affected by it, but they do have to constantly be there for the others in case something goes wrong (a lot of accidents did happen...)
Alma's curse would be the candle melting into a small flame, keeping the rest of her family trapped with their own curses.
Alma would still blame Mirabel for it all, resulting in most of the townspeople and even some of the Madrigals blaming her as well...
Yup, that means Bruno has to save the day, while also helping Mira guide through the world without sight.

A angsti Encanto AU! Casita after see how Alma took more advantage over little kid Luisa decided to punish her, how? By giving curses to Camilo, Mari, and Antonio instead of gifts. And instead of cracks, Casita just starts to get more corrupted and aggressive toward those who doesn't have a curse
ANON NO-😭
Right after Luisa’s ceremony, Alma immediately expected her to do chores around town and all, starting Luisa’s “useless if not of surface” mentality.
Casita noticed this, and decided to punish Alma for it.
That punishment would come to be on Camilo’s ceremony night…
The boy would still receive a door, but instead of being given a gift, he’s given a curse. A curse that, whenever he touched someone in the slightest, they would feel agonizing pain upon it…
Pepa and Félix found out the hard way…
It made Camilo distant with everyone, locking himself in his room most of the time to avoid interaction or accidentally bumping into someone. But at the same time, he just wanted a hug…
Alma would obviously question Casita and the magic, but Casita wasn’t done yet…
At her ceremony, Mirabel didn’t receive a door, and had to watch it fade away before receiving her curse, going blind and deaf…
So when Antonio was born, everyone dreaded his ceremony…
Pepa and Félix even begged Alma to just scrap his ceremony altogether, but the matriarch still held hope, and insisted…
While Antonio did get a door, he was given a curse too, the curse of seeing someone’s death upon looking at them…
Every. Single. Time…
And the first death he saw was his mami’s…
Antonio cried with his eyes closed for hours…
“I TOLD YOU TO SKIP IT ALL!” Pepa screamed at her mother. She was livid, furious, and boiling with anger. Even Félix couldn’t calm her down, but he refused to even try. Pepa didn’t care if a hurricane may destroy the enige town, she wanted her sons and Mirabel to be free of their curses and pain. “THAT CANDLE IS GOING OUT!”
Alma however, refused to let anyone near the candle, and would still put the community first.
And so, it only became more difficult over the years…
The three cursed kids couldn’t even be in one room without any pain or crying…
Both Camilo and Antonio grew heavily distant from the family since their ceremonies, spending almost all their time in their rooms by themselves…
Out of the three, Mirabel had it the easiest. Yes, she couldn’t see or hear or talk, but she could still communicate with her family through touch, and Casita would watch out for her and help her with stairs and all.
Since her sister’s ceremony, Isabela said “Screw you” to her golden child image and her abuela, and focused on communicating with her youngest sister. They even found a special way to talk through touch, by Isabela using small vines to write on Mira’s palms😊
Pepa, Félix, and Agustín made it their damn mission to blow that candle out, to save their kids from the pain they’re suffering…
Unfortunately, many attempts failed, as Alma caught on to the trio’s plan, and hid the candle somewhere.
Casita would also be quite aggressive towards the gifted Madrigals, such as purposely tripping Julieta while she was walking with a big plate of arepas, or making loud noises near Dolores until her ears bleed…
The only ones Casita was nice to where the cursed kids, Agustín, Félix, and Alma…

Tough AU idea for you. Good Alma AU. One where she put her family first like she defends Bruno from the villagers who hate him for his prophecies even though they asked for them. She's afraid that anymore of this, Bruno will run away and she already lost Pedro she will not lose her son too. And maybe on Mirabels failed gift ceremory, she loses it not at her but at the Miracle asking why her precious granddaughter doesn't deserve a gift or at least her own room to sleep in. Fluff.
ANON, I LOVE YOU!!
After having lost Pedro, Alma still grieved his loss, but also focused on her children. They still needed her, after all.
Instead of a bun, she would still have her two braids, even in her elderly years.
She would still wear the black shall, but only when alone.
As for the triplets’ birthday, Alma would celebrate it with her kids, but would grief Pedro’s death when the day would be over.
Alma never made Pepa feel guilty about showing her emotions, she never made Bruno feel bad about his gift, she never made Julieta cook all day. Alma just let her children be themselves and didn’t apply pressure to help the town or be perfect.
Whenever someone made a mean comment about Bruno’s visions or Pepa “ruining the weather”, Alma (and sometimes Julieta) would let those kids know to not mess with them.
Julieta and Pepa would eventually meet Agustín and Félix, and would start their families.
Despite being a spitting image of her, Alma didn’t try to live through Isabela, and would treat her as equal as her other future grandchildren.
Luisa would still feel pressure from overworking herself (which the town would be the cause of), and it would actually be Alma who encouraged her to take a break.
Overal, the Madrigals lived a pretty happy live, and no big accidents happend!
Until Mirabel’s ceremony…
Upon seeing her beloved granddaughter on the verge of tears after her door vanished, Alma comforted her, reassuring her that she was still as special as everyone else in the family, not even caring that the whole town was watching.
The same night, Alma would ask the miracle why Mirabel didn’t get a gift, what she ever did to not be granted one. Her precious granddaughter deserved one, just like everyone else in the family! Or at the very least her own room!
Alma would even question what she did wrong…

Mijn #1-bericht van 2022
Okay, what if... it was Alma who's sacrifice was what created the Encanto, and Pedro the one left behind. I can see going one of two ways: Either he becomes extremely protective to the point of toxicity instead of the perfection for Alma, desperate to not lose anyone else, or becomes emotionally stunted and is protective but distant especially since like Alma, he never got the chance to properly grieve.
He'd also either be very close or very distant with Isabela with how much she looks like a young Alma.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, so...
When the horsemen arrived, it was Alma who sacrificed herself which created the Encanto, leaving Pedro with the triplets to raise in Casita.
When the triplets receive their gifts, Pedro didn't pressure them to help the town, but they still do because it would be a kind thing to do, just with less pressure.
Bruno would've been treated much better by the townspeople, as Pedro warned them to not mess with his family, so Bruno didn't really use his gift that much, though he did do odd jobs around town.
Everything was great. Pedro quickly accepted Agustin and Félix as part of the family when they got together with Julieta and Pepa, weddings happen, and everything was perfect.
Until the first grandchild was born...Isabela...
When he held her for the first time, Pedro almost couldn't believe how much she looked like Alma. So, he distanced himself from her, not wanting to remember his beloved's death everything he looks at his granddaughter…
As time went on, and as the family grew, Pedro started to pay more attention to his other grandchildren, Dolores, Luisa, Camilo, Mirabel, and eventually Antonio, leaving Isabela constantly in the dark.
Even at her gift ceremony, Pedro's smile wasn't sincere, but a mask to cover up his pain as he had to grand his first grandchild her gift.
At the age of 6, Isabela started to notice how her Abuelo treated her differently than her sisters and cousins, and it started to sadden her.
Like how he didn't even give her a glance while happily picking Dolores up. Or when he praised Luisa for helping the town while ignoring Isa...
Pedro never insulted her or made any remarks. He just ignored and distanced himself from her as best as he could.
As she grew up, Isabela wanted to prove to her abuelo that she was worth his time, that she was living in Casita too! She grew flowers for him when needed, did everything he asked of her, but it never worked...
No matter how much Agustin called Pedro out on his treatment towards his oldest daughter, no matter how many times Julieta reassured Isa that "Your Abuelo loves you just like the rest", Pedro kept avoiding her
Isabela grew jealous of her sisters and cousins because of this, which even damaged her relationship with them...
Isabela's first breaking point came when she was 11, when it was Mirabel's gift ceremony. When her youngest sister's door vanished, not being given a gift, Isa thought that her abuelo might treat Mira differently as well now. But no...
"Looks like Mira is so special that she doesn't need a gift!" Pedro said in front of the town, also comforting Mira.
That broke Isa...
The whole family even took a picture without her..
The following years where filled with many attempts to prove herself to her Abuelo for Isabela, along with jealousy at her sisters and cousins...

Madrigals swap gift-
• I imagine Julieta getting Mirabel’s gift or Luisa’s. It would actually be good for her to be giftless, since she won’t be pressured that much anymore. But she’ll still drug herself into helping the person who got her gift. About luisa’s… because of luisa’s gift Luisa is pressured.
• For Pepa I imagine her getting Julieta’s or Dolores’ gift. It’s kinda strange to understand what Pepa can’t even boil an egg. But of course, Julieta teaches her.
• For Bruno I imagine him getting Luisa’s or Antonio’s gift. It’ll be actually sweet how he would talk to his rat friends :D
• For Isabela I imagine her getting Mirabel’s gift or Camilo’s. Imagine her as the perfect child with a perfect gift ending up being giftless.
• For Dolores I imagine her getting Antonio’s or Isabela’s gift. She would ask her friends on how Bruno is doing in the walls <3
• For Luisa I imagine her getting Bruno’s or Mirabel’s gift. She’ll just get a rest while being giftless.
• For Camilo I imagine him getting Dolores’ or Pepa’s Bruno. It’ll be cute how he’ll have a rainbow above his head when he’s in a good mood.
• For Mirabel I imagine her getting Isabela’s or Julieta’s gift. Keep in mind what Mirabel can burn the kitchen down.
• For Antonio I imagine him getting Camilo’s or Bruno’s gift. He would just have fun with shape-shifting and Camilo watching Antonio shape-shifting would be so happy on seeing how his brother likes his gift :)

Genshin Impact Mamalores AU.
Instead of Dolores getting the gift of superhearing she ends up being Alice from the game. And instead of Mirabel being giftless, she's Klee.
Dolores' appearance is uh a mix of Lisa, and Eula's fashion choice, but red and she has a bigger version of Albedo's coat just hanging Yelan jacket style. She just has the coat for either no reason or in case Pepa makes a snow storm.
Mira and Dolly's doors lead to the world of Teyvat and when summer time comes the GAA. The first time the GAA came was when Dolores was nine and with her being the curios genius mage she is, she just explored it for days on end in the GAA. But when she came back it was just dinner time now.
Dolores makes sure that whenever they make explosives, they make it in Teyvat so no damages will be made in the Encanto because if they did make an explosion inside the Encanto, Alma "assume the worst" Madrigal would think that raiders got their hands on explosives and are raising the Encanto.
Now you might think that there would be no angst really, there are tiny bits and pieces of angst there. Isabela is jealous that Dolores and Mirabel get to be reckless, loud, and explosive without care since Alma is scared of them, Julieta and Agustin have a resentment towards Alma and jealousy to Dolores and Mirabel. The warm family are both chill with this and also very worried.
One time Camilo goes with Dolores to go to the GAA for a vacation and what does he encounter first instead of fish? A fucking Mitachurl. Dolores summoned fire under the Mitachurl and bombed the rest of the camp to save Camilo. By the time they go back to the campsite, Camilo just says "YOU are going to explore this place while I just stay on this nice, safe, island."
And then Dolores and Mirabel decide to scale the mountains of Encanto and just, glide off the highest points they could find.
Imagine you're just a farmer and then you see two red figures glide above you and then turn into a flaming ball to land. But gliding in the Encanto is also a somewhat nuisance to Dolores because of nasties but once she plunges near them, you best believe that they get 3rd degree burns.
That's all for now, damn I have 3 Mamalores AU's now huh.
KLEE MIRABEL!!!
Bro this is so cool. And imagine Mirabel as a knight. She’s taking on missions and literally all she does is blow hilichurls up. And then they fly around Mondstat and Lihue <3 I love her and Alice Dolores ❤️❤️ Speaking of, I gotta play Genshin, I haven’t played in a hot minute 💀💀
ALSO LITTLE MIRABEL WOULD LOOK SO CUTE IN KLEE’S OUTFIT WAHHHHH
Gonna draw her as Klee 😩👊👊👊

(I know I’ve already asked this in DMs, but here’s the ask form😅)
Maybe “SHUT YOUR MOUTH if you make another sound I swear” with Pepa? That’d be interesting😀
Leave me alone - NF
TW: child abuse
The two 7-year-olds had an idea. Maybe if they made gifts for everyone that maybe things would be better. They first started with tia pepa's gift. It was a yellow shawl covered with raindrops, lighting, and rainbows.
Mirabel worked on the raindrops, Miguel worked on the lightning, and they both worked on the rainbows. They both were happy with the result. Even though they were 7 it looked pretty good, to be honest. It took them 3 months but it was finished now all they had to do was give it to her.
Pepa was done with watering the plants and was having a pleasant conversation with one of the locals. She looked happy so she would be approachable...right?
They gathered up all the courage they had and walked up to pepa and then tugged her skirt. She looked down with confusion at first but then she scrunched up her face with pure disgust.
"don't you two have somewhere to be?" she waved them off trying to get back to the conversation
"t-tia pepa we-we made you a pre-" Miguel tried to speak up but the villager she was speaking to snapped at them
"INSOLENT CHILDREN, DON'T YOU SEE YOUR TIA IS TALKING?" The villager shouted at them with rage in their throat.
Miguel and Mirabel started tearing up. "ok Tia pepa we'll-" Before Mirabel could let out the next word Pepa yelled at her
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH, if you make another sound I swear LEAVE ME ALONE" Pepa barked at them. Her cloud was thundering over her and Mirabel was purposely struck by lightning.
The twins couldn't take it anymore they ran off leaving the gift they made. Pepa looked at it but decided she didn't want anything from the giftless madrigals.
The twins tried to give gifts to the other madrigals but were told off and/or abused. Only Luisa and the cool couple excepted the gifts. After that, they never physically gave the others another gift. The presents would be placed by their doors but never in person.

Bruno for the character ask meme!!
1- Favourites thing(s) about this character?
He’s just a really misunderstood, caring, and soft man who loves his family more than anything. The fact that he stayed in the house, an spent 10 years patching cracks show an insane amount of dedication her has. Also i love his love of rats.
2- What song(s) remind you of this character?
Not sure to much because I don’t have a Bruno playlist going, but maybe Why Am I Like This? By Orla Gartland? It’s on my triplets playlist but can probably work for just him as well.
3- Do you like this character?
Yes, at this point I’m just gonna say there isn’t a character I really dislike in Encanto.
4- Would you write about this character?
Sure! I especially love writing triplets content and he’s in a few idea I’ve got written down.
5- What do you not like about this character?
Not enough self-love he needs more :(
6- Favourite thing this character has said?
I’m so torn between “I’m Hernando and I’m scared of nothing!” Vs “My gift wasn’t helping the family, but I love my family, yknow?”
7- What do you like most about this character?
He literally left his family that he loved so much to protect Mirabel. He made such a huge sacrifice for this little girl he cared about so much, and never wanted her to feel the same dislike and avoidance from others that he faced in his life.
8- Do you think this character is underrated or overrated?
Oof, he’s getting a little overrated. Just a tad. I mean he’s important to the story so it makes sense he gets a lot of attention, but also people keep saying he’s a tumblr sexyman and imo any character that attains that level lives to become overrated which kinda sucks because he IS a great character.
9- What’s your favourite headcanon(s) for this character?
That he makes little costumes for his rat telenovelas.
10- Who do you like to ship with this character? (If you do of course) Is it another character from the cast or is it an OC?
Bruno x Happiness and Self-love
11- Who do you not like to ship with this character?
again, any family, but especially Camilo and Mirabel cause there’s unfortunately been a fuck ton of that whenever i got on ao3
12- Have you read any fics about this character? (if it’s not an OC)? Can you recommend anything good?
Fate Is Sealed
Fingers Crossed, Nothing Lost
First Day of Bruno
I Waited Ten Years To See You Again
maldición
14- What outfit would you really like to see this character wear? Or what’s your favourite outfit of theirs?
Sometimes I’ve read fics where Mirabel has made him this new ruana with little embroidery all over it (varies from fic to fic, sometimes it’s still hourglasses, sometimes its family symbols, sometimes its flowers) and I’d love to see something like that. Just get the man new clothes.
16- What do you think would improve this character? Like, character-arc wise?
I think knowing more about him and Julieta would be interesting. He clearly cares so much about his sister’s daughter and I’d wondering if knowing about their relationship as well might add more depth to that.
17- Have you ever had a crush on this character…?
No, I have not had a crush on the stinky rat man.
18- What’s something you associate this character with? E.g. a certain colour, object or scenery?
Little mouse squeaks (i know he has rats but shhh), desert imagery, sounds of rushing winds, the shade of green of his ruana,
19- What would the show/book/movie be like if this character wasn’t present? (if it’s not an OC)
OH A LOT WORSE. Casita would probably would have still fallen apart and Mirabel may have never figured out how to save the miracle. Madrigals may have remained giftless. Mirabel’s relationship with her Abuela, Isabela, and maybe other family may have become even more strained and potentially almost impossible to salvage.
21- Wild card! Talk about anything to do with this character! Anything at all!
How often do you think this man had food poisoning from eating old food, but then was fine because Julieta made it??

Summary:
In the Kingdom of Encanto, there was only Light magic, while the Dark surrounded the forest beyond the mountains. Everything had been prosperous for them, but recently the Dark has been seeping through in the form of disease, less harvest, and dead livestock.
Mirabel, the only giftless princess of the Madrigal Royal family, wants to prove her worth by making it her mission to eradicate Dark magic and restore the full power of the Light.
Starting with defeating the hideous seven-foot tall half human half rat monster hiding in the depths of the dense forest.

In a land far away, protected by dense forests and massive mountains, was a small kingdom.
Here, Light magic existed in nature. It was found in the bountiful harvests they get every year, in the river that never runs out of fish, in the fields that fed the animals, and in the living house of the royal Madrigal family, which is fondly called “Casita”.
The existence of Light magic implies the existence of the opposite kind, which is of the more evil sort. Dark magic stemmed from a wretched being, an entity known as the Curse of the Encanto. Its energy spilled throughout the outside borders, weakened due to its diffused state. The very first king defeated it with a sword made with a small amount of Light magic, creating the protective barrier and dispersing the energy outward, scattering its essence.
Currently, everyone lived peacefully under the governance of King Pedro, the 10th ruler of Encanto.
During King Pedro’s term his wife, Queen Alma, gave birth to triplets, 2 girls and the youngest, a boy. With their birth came gifts from the counterpart of the Curse, the benevolent Spirit of Encanto. These gifts were in the form of a Candle representing the status of Light magic, and a sealed box, both manifesting in the topmost room of Casita. Nobody knew what this meant, but this occurrence was seen as a miracle, and the entire town celebrated the birth of the royal triplets for a whole week.
This was not where the miracles ended, though.
—--------------------------------------------------—
“Really mama? There are more miracles?”
Julieta pulled her 4 year old daughter closer to her as they lay down in bed. It was a little early in the evening, but Mirabel was tired from playing too much with her slightly older cousin, Camilo. The boy was still outside, forced to help out after knocking a few vases in the garden outside.
“Of course. Why do you think Isa can make flowers? Or how Luisa is super strong?”
“Or how you can heal with food!”
“Yes exactly. You see mi vida, when I was around 5, my sister and…” Julieta trailed off, looking down with pain in her eyes. “Well, we were still complete back then. On our 5th birthday, three mysterious doors showed up in Casita. Your Abuelo Pedro knew it was a gift from the Spirit of Encanto, and it granted us the miracles we have now. It also gave us these marks around our arms.”
She raised her hand, and just below her wrist was a small mark of a leaf, and a straight line going around, as if it were a bracelet in the form of a tattoo. To her, this was like a small reminder that her gift of healing was meant to be shared with the people around them. Her sister Pepa had a small sun, while Bruno had a small hourglass as a mark.
“These miracles are why we dedicate our life to helping the kingdom.”
She tried to avoid sounding upset, but Mirabel noticed the change in her mother’s tone. She was still young, but her older siblings and cousins have told her about how her mama and Tia Pepa used to be a part of a trio.
“Mama… where did Tio Bruno go?”
“Ay, it is a very hard story to tell mija… It is a little bit scary too, and you are about to sleep so I don’t want you thinking about -”
“Mama please I can take it! I am a big girl now!” The child sat up and puffed her chest out, even flexing her arms to imitate her older sister.
Julieta smiled softly, and caressed her daughter’s hair. She motioned for her to lay down, prompting Mirabel to lay closer to her, full of anticipation.
“Promise me you’ll be brave tonight.”
“I promise!”
It was a hard story to tell. Even though it happened more than 20 years ago, closure was never met, and remembering the past felt like opening a still bleeding wound. However, her daughter had to know the dangers that surround the outskirts of Encanto. “You know how I can heal with meals I make, and how Tia Pepa can control the weather with her emotions? Well, your Tio Bruno could see the future.”
“Whooaa…”
“It is an amazing gift, but it also comes with consequences. He had this… vision, many years ago, of a giant rat-like creature standing behind him menacingly, with its arms around his neck, like it was choking him.”
The little gasp that came out of Mirabel prompted Julieta to stop, but her daughter stared at her with intense focus, waiting for whatever happened next. There’s no way she’s leaving her daughter alone tonight.
“We figured that it did not mean anything, that maybe it was a nightmare… But you know that Dark magic exists beyond the mountains.”
“Oh! The one from the Curse of the Encanto?”
“Yes. It was a terrible entity, spreading disease and disaster wherever it went. If it weren’t for the first king, the ancestor of your Abuelo Pedro, it would still be here. He was able to defeat it with a sword laced with some Light magic.” It was common knowledge, and more of a legend to the people in the kingdom. She still remembers how her father Pedro acted out the entire scene in dramatic fashion, complete with costumes and all.
“This vision of the Rat monster felt like Dark magic seeping through… Your abuelo and abuela were very worried about this, and it made Bruno even more anxious than he already is. Then one day… during a partial solar eclipse… We were just 10, we were playing outside and we had a small fight. Bruno walked away, and night came but he never returned… Nobody saw where he went. It was like he disappeared from Encanto.”
She paused, replaying the moment in her head.
“It was a nightmare. Everyone looked around the kingdom, but they were not able to go beyond the mountains, for it was too dangerous and treacherous. There were those that attempted but could not last a day climbing the mountains. The search lasted for months… We all assumed that his disappearance was the doing of the Rat monster from his vision, who most likely is a user of Dark magic, a servant of the Curse.”
“Your abuelo and abuela were devastated. Pepa and I cried almost every night. We kept blaming ourselves… If only I was a better older sister, if only I was brave enough… Losing one of us… losing a triplet, I felt like a third of me was ripped away.”
Mirabel stared at her with glassy eyes. She hugged her mother tightly. “Mama I don’t think it’s your fault. It’s the Rat monster! He’s a meanie!”
Laughter filled the room, Julieta already feeling more relaxed than upset. “Thank you mija. I still can’t help feeling sad whenever I remember that day… Ever since then, children have always been accompanied by at least one adult when they play around.”
She looked at her daughter, slightly being reminded of her baby brother. They both had big brown eyes.
“Mirabel, it’s very dangerous out there. Here, we are protected by Light magic, but beyond the mountains, Dark magic is everywhere. It is no longer conscious and is spread thinly all over, but it is out there. So please promise me, mi vida. Always be with someone when you go around the kingdom. And never, ever leave the Encanto.”
