I was going to put this in tags but I realized it would be more of a pain in the ass to read lol.
Thayet Trevelyan's is Princess. Cullen actually calls her that; they trained together as teenagers in Ferelden, and he used to call her "princess" as an affectionately sarcastic nickname (as in, you're noble and I'm not, I don't know shit about titles, you might as well be a princess), and she always shot back by calling him "farmboy". When they got into their 20s and eventually came to blows, Cullen started using it as an insult, basically calling her a spoiled, selfish snob. As their relationship repaired during Inquisition, it shifted back into being affectionate -- and then Varric picked up on it, because Varric thinks it's funny to watch Thayet roll her eyes and explain she's actually untitled and has been for years and then say something irritating like "you're a princess to us, Inquisitor".
Because it feels relevant, Varric and Thayet have a good relationship. Not exceptionally close, but positive overall.
Eala Lavellan's is Trouble. She's small, quiet, and as far as the Inquisition knows, quite passive when it comes to things she doesn't understand (like, for example, most of human politics and cultural norms). Most of the trouble she kicks up is people making their own fuss. The irony, of course, is that Eala actually is a whole heap of trouble... because she's an agent of Fen'Harel.
Eala and Varric have a great relationship. He was one of the first companions (after Solas, who knew her pre-Haven) to take the time to get to know her and speak to her like a person instead of an oddity or religious figure. He's good at picking up on it when she tells a joke and thinks she's hilarious, and is also one of the first people to notice when she's agitated or overstimulated.
Rowan Lavellan's is Sawbones. In most continuities, he's a Dalish mage "NPC" who takes up residence in the infirmary and the garden and is known to have a particular talent with potions and surgery. Mostly because he's doing stealth blood magic on people but it's fine. You kept your leg, right? See it's fine.
Varric likes Rowan as much as anyone else. When he's Inquisitor, they work well enough together, but there's not a ton of personal affection; when he isn't, they're important enough to interact with some regularity, they're just not friends, you know?
Ramsay Marison (Trevelyan)'s is Buck, because he tried calling him Ram when they first met and Ramsay's walls weren't down yet, so he got a little snippy about it. Varric picked another large, dangerous animal to name him after, and by the time Varric did have proper nickname privileges, the new one had stuck.
Ram and Varric's relationship starts out kind of rocky, because "smarmy bureaucrat who won't put on an entire shirt in winter" is not something that appeals to Ramsay and he was snapping at pretty much everything in the beginning. Ramsay is also a fan of Varric's books, so some of that was probably just a little bit of "never meet your heroes". They warm up, especially once Ramsay figures out that Varric's smart is actually just homesickness with its tits out, and by the end of Inquisition they get along famously.
Locke Trevelyan's is Lucky. It's a gentle play on his name, but Locke is also a rogue who shoots, gambles, and drinks with the Chargers. The irony in it (like all Varric's nicknames) is that Locke is the Inquisitor, and so by default everything around him is going to try to kill him at some point.
Locke and Varric are besties. They get on like a house on fire.
Eva Trevelyan's is Dandelion, because she's pretty but (in the beginning) delicate and easy to scatter. But that goes the other way, too, of course; dandelions are weeds, and scattering them just spreads their influence and makes them harder to get rid of.
Eva and Varric are friendly with each other. They're not emotionally close, but they work well together and have great mutual respect.
Alexandre Trevelyan's is Charming, because Alexandre is a spoiled, self-centered douchebag in the beginning that Varric did not like.
The nickname is pure, bitter sarcasm, because Varric fucking hated him until Alexandre started getting his shit together after Haven was attacked. Eventually, they do end up as actual friends, and the nickname becomes more sincere. Alex grows into it.
alright let's do another question post
what nicknames does varric give your ocs?
you know, bc not everyone's gonna be a waffles/chuckles/killer. or, what nicknames do other characters (isabela loves nicknames too!) give your ocs?

when i tell you veilguard was made For Me what i mean is that my favorite/main inquisitor trevelyan is an ex-templar heretic who does see herself as andraste's chosen with divine purpose while grappling with the guilt of the things she did during her time in the circle to temper and influence the knight-commander in ostwick in service of the rebel mages, who's a charismatic leader whose followers tend to see her as some level of divine thing or maternal figure or savior or all three and are frequently rewarded for that with her actions, and now through the lens of veilguard she is so so so much more mythal-coded than i had originally intended
i have to look back at solas's relationship with her, especially his romantic feelings, and i have to think there was just... this intoxicating mix of empathetic recognition of their similarities, reminders of how mythal might have been when she was very young and he had yet to fully rebel against the evanuris, and just enough differences and unique circumstantial traits that she would feel new and interesting to him
solas being hopelessly in love with not-an-elf is already its own kind of good drama, this idea of committing every part of himself to one group of people while pining painfully for another - and not just a human, but in thayet's case, a human he should be repulsed by, a former templar, noble on both sides with one of those sides being tevinter, descended directly from one of the dreamers that cracked open his prison and released that shred of the blight, who embraces the idea of divinity. but she's also good and earnest, and unlike mythal, actually listens to him, who allows him to step into his comfort zone: as an advisor, someone who dispenses wisdom but not orders, who's protected but not condescended to
he recognizes mythal in her but is blindsided by their differences, and it's a little like healing, if he lets it be. proof that mythal's mistakes were not inevitable, but choices that she made, too, that she could have opted not to, or that she could have chosen to take responsibility for but didn't - unlike thayet, who bears the weight of her actions and choices and the damage of her own ancestors' legacies, who views her divinity not as an all-mother but as one of perpetual servitude
and being unable to fully accept it, because he's spent thousands of years bound in mythal's service and calling it freely-given devotion
thayet drinks from the well. i think a very fitting end to her arc is as the keeper of the fragment that survived flemeth's physical death - not a new vehicle for mythal to live or seek retribution for herself, but as a keeper of memory. mythal is dead and gone and incapable of healing the damage she inflicted on the world, but thayet is not. and she's the only person other than solas then who understands the weight of the legacy he's working to undo in an atonement ending, who not only sees the burden of the past as hers to carry but who gladly bears it if it means carrying it with him. a validation that mythal cannot give him, because she didn't in life and is incapable of doing so now that she's dead

Dragon Age Create-a-Thon Entries
I did the @dacreateathon again this year! I'm putting together a rec list, but I'm going to show off my own work first. :3
This year I did two fics about Thayet and her pre-Inquisition love interest, Aeryk. I had meant to do some Solavelyan, but Aeryk just took the spotlight from Solas and wouldn't give it back this year.
The first work is set at different points during the 12 years Thayet was a Templar in the Ostwick Circle, with one scene taking place during DAI right after In Hushed Whispers. It's Grade A Boggy-Branded Hurts-So-Good tragedy.
The second one is AU smut I wrote because I felt bad for torturing them.
@dismalzelenka also made me a cover for the longer one!
dying now a second time
F!Trevelyan/M!Lavellan. Rated M. Major Character Death (sort of). 17k/4 chapters.
They had pantomimed the intimacy of lovers as if they could add new roles to the elaborate fiction of the Circle: the mage who’d never been captured, the Templar who’d never taken vows. Narratives to justify foolishness disguised as acts of kindness.
more and smaller ways of dying
F!Trevelyan/M!Lavellan. Rated E. No Major Archive Warnings. 5k.
Despite it all, there are still things worth being grateful for. The first is finding Aeryk alive. The second is discovering that he isn't Tranquil anymore, and hasn't been since the Breach opened up. And third, he still loves her.

I love these kind of little thought experiments. Hrm.
- Siobhan Cousland would romance Anders. She’s abrasive, power hungry, and a die hard Ferelden loyalist who believes in equality and mage freedom, and I’ll always be a little bummed that the ending you can get where the monarchy disbands Kinloch Hold is just like... ignored.
But if Anders doesn’t count because he’s also in Awakening, then probably Sebastian, specifically because he’s both royalty and a devout Andrastian. Whether or not she’d actually love him right away is up in the air, but the pragmatic social climber in her would see him as a good enough choice.
Of the DAI companions, probably Josephine. Josie understands the world that Siobhan lives in and would be a good social partner. Her skills as a diplomat would be enough for Siobhan to overlook her family’s fortunes and decide to help rehabilitate them instead of dismissing her altogether.
- My Hawke would go for Zevran of the Origins people. Roguish assassin with a carefree attitude covering up mountains of emotional complication and trauma? Sign him up.
Of the DAI companions, Iron Bull. He’d ride that Bull so hard, he’d love the Chargers, he’d have so much fucking fun.
- Thayet Trevelyan would probably go for Zevran, too, now that I think about it. She likes the troubled ones, she really likes the flirty ones, and it helps that he’s bisexual and will probably A) be happy in a poly situation and B) be happy to have group sex with other men.
From DA2, Anders hands down. The healer with a tragic past, bloody hands, and a fierce dedication to bettering the world? They’re just lucky they never met in canon, they’d be trouble together.
- Eala Lavellan would probably end up with Alistair and wouldn’t make him step up as king so they could stay Wardens together. She’s a bit of a quiet one and takes a little getting to, and I think Alistair is sensitive enough not to put her off.
From DA2, definitely Merrill, now that I think about it. They’ve both had similar rejection from their families for being strange or having controversial views or methods, and I think they would find a lot of common ground. And I think Merrill would take the time to really get to know her.
Which DA2 and Inquisition companions would your Warden romance?
Which Origins and Inquisition companions would your Hawke romance?
Which Origins and DA2 companions would your Inquisitor romance?

For Thayet: 7) What is their favourite movie, or a movie they would really enjoy? | 12) What is their safe place? And what does “safe place” mean to them? | 24) How do they relax? Is that a solitary activity, a group activity, or both?
For the Wholesome OC Ask Meme!
7. What is their favorite movie, or a movie they would really enjoy?
Oooh. I've figured out a lot of "modern" answers for Thayet but not what kind of fiction she enjoys. What an oversight. I think she would be the type of person who'd want to watch fiction that doesn't much resemble her own real life, things with happy endings or relatively low stakes romances. I could see Thayet really liking the 2005 Pride and Prejudice or something like Penelope, with that whimsical fairy tale vibe.
12. What is their safe place? and what does "safe place" mean to them?
When she was young, her safe place was the place she was born. She spent the first 7 years of her life in the Trevelyan summer estate up near the Tevinter border, relatively isolated with her parents unless her mother had guests staying with them. In hindsight, adult!Thayet understands that her mother's friends and guests likely weren't very good people -- her mother had only moved south to marry, after all, she still had a lot of friends among Tevinter nobility and being close to the border meant inviting them to stay was relatively easy. She really didn't know as a child that she was much different than the children her age she socialized with, since most of the time if there were kids around, they were children of servants or part of the entourage of visiting Tevinter nobles. She was little, her parents really shielded her, and she remembers her life before they moved into Ostwick and her mother died as being safe, warm, and predictable.
She thought of the estate as her safe place until she was an adult, even when she had long since accepted she was likely to ever go back there. In her 14 years serving in Ostwick Circle, she didn't really have a place she felt like was "hers" and that had that proper sort of insulation, physically or emotionally. She had a place in the city, but kept nothing important there, bc if she ever had to pull up stakes and bolt, she was more likely to be in the Circle when it happened. She had her own office and private sleeping quarters when she was Knight-Captain, but the Knight-Commander shared the wall with her and could demand her attention at any time. She never really felt safe.
It's cliche, but come Inquisition, her room in Skyhold really did become her safe place. Like, the whole fortress, but Skyhold is literally the first place she's put down roots where she could safely refuse entry to literally everyone. It's probably the first time she's ever had real, genuine privacy and could conduct her relationships without having to lie to anyone about anyone else, or refuse herself certain types of connections.
24. How do they relax? Is that a solitary activity, a group activity, or both?
WELL. I mean, it can be both, she is polyamorous.
Sex jokes aside (mostly), Thayet is a true extrovert. It's rare that she ever wants to be alone-alone. Her most solitary relaxing hobby is gardening, which she prefers to do when the garden is full of other people just milling about. If she's doing drills, she wants a partner to do them with; if she's drinking, she hates doing it alone; if she's out for a walk, she'd rather take someone with her. The only thing she prefers doing more or less alone is praying and meditating in the chantry, she'll actually get up early or stay up late to do that alone.

14 and 33!
For the Wholesome OC Ask Meme! I've decided you're getting all 3 bc I feel like it (and I like the colors question).
14. Quickly, let them give us some life advice!
Thayet: Don't save many things for "a rainy day". Enjoy things when you have them, tell people you care for them, spend your clout and favors freely when the chance comes to do something good with them. When you wait too long to do the thing you always wanted to do, you'll miss the window.
Eala: Prioritize yourself and your own well-being. You have to put on the mask before you can help someone else secure theirs, so to speak. You are allowed to take care of yourself, and you're not obligated to make yourself smaller so someone else can feel big.
Rowan: Don't just be yanking arrows and bullets and stuff out of your entrance wounds, that's how you get infections and bleed out. (Also follow your own convictions and seek the life that makes you most content.)
33. What is their favourite color? And which colors do they like to wear the most?
Thayet
Red, gold, black, and sometimes with earthy brown or warm purple. Thayet wears a lot of dark red and brown or black day to day, and trends toward black, gold, and red for formalwear. Her favorite color is probably red, given how often she wears it. Lots of royalty-adjacent colors here.
This dress that Yennefer wears in The Witcher is just, like, a Peak Thayet Look for me. (Anya Chalotra is also her faceclaim - she's a little young but I think wen she's in her 30s she'll be perfect. Ironically, OG Thayet had purple eyes and a much more purple-heavy color scheme, and I changed it before Witcher was announced. Really played myself with that one.)
Eala
Eala's color scheme is primarily white and pastel pink or blue. I see her as having a very faded/washed out quality to her with the occasional bright red accent. I think her favorite color is actually pink; wolves can only see yellow, blue, and shades of white/gray/black, and I think the novelty of pink makes her want to wear it as much as possible now that she can see it again.
It felt weird not having a picture to represent Eala but I can't think of anything off the top of my head, so here's a screenshot of sim!Eala hanging out with sim!Thayet (who's in red, look at that, so perfect).
Rowan
He's an edgy little shit, his favorite color is black. His color scheme is black, green, brown, and red. Like a rowan tree.

I have a Trevelyan OC who doesn't get a ton of "screen time" even in my PSLs. (I do a lot of writing, just most of it is in RP with my wife and will never see the public light of day.) It's because Ramsay is my main Trevelyan's younger brother, and his job in the narrative is to be unjustly killed during the fall of Ostwick Circle so his sister has a Tragic Backstory. But almost all of my Trevelyan siblings have a continuity where they're Inquisitor, and I wrote one up for Ramsay last year just for fun, and he ended up as this kind of cool, anti-authoritarian mage who specializes in fire and rift magic. I imagine him having, like... will anyone know what I mean if I say Wolverine Energy? Gruff, emotionally guarded, has done and is capable of doing very violent things, but also prone to ending up in leadership roles despite being like "ugh, no, I'm not a role model", would function well with a young girl as a morality pet.
Anyway what I've got stuck in my craw right now is the idea of a Trevelyan/Hawke fic with Ramsay and my red/purple blood mage f!Hawke (a classic Spiky Lady Character named Marsali), probably starting around Hawke's introduction in Inquisition and through the end of Here Lies the Abyss. The Warden companion is Carver, and it's this big heartwrenching thing when they're in the Fade and someone has to stay behind.
(Stuck this behind a read more because I just rambled about mirrored narratives wheee)
Marsali and Ramsay are both naturally wary of each other, they're both these guarded sorts of people, slow to trust. But they're such good mirrors of each other, and if you know me, you know I'm a big sucker for mirrored narratives. Marsali is the daughter of an apostate father and a noble mother; Ramsay is the son of a noble father and a common-born mother. They're both very much like their fathers, much to their own dysfunctions, Marsali because they're alike in personality and intensely close to hers, Ramsay because he's the only one of his siblings with a strong physical resemblance to a man who refuses to acknowledge him.
Marsali tries to suppress a natural talent and inclination for blood magic, but actively chose to learn arcane and force magic - schools of magic that focus on buffs, shields, areas of effect that push people away or slow them down - and only employs her more truly violent and aggressive blood magic abilities when she's backed into a corner or loses control. Her father shares her talent for blood magic and kept her from learning to harness it until she was an adult (long, long after she'd developed bad habits and a complete distaste for it, too late to cultivate true control). Ramsay has a natural talent for destructive magic and instead pursued control of it, turning his gift for violent magic into a useful weapon under the mentorship of a similarly inclined father figure in the form of Ostwick's First Enchanter.
Marsali is a mage protective older sister to a non-mage younger brother (who only didn't join the Templars because fate forced him into the Wardens). Ramsay is a mage younger brother to a protective older sister who joined the Templars to look after him in the Circle. Marsali and Carver's relationship is loving, but it has walls up as she's been parentified, and is often quite contentious and full of bickering; despite effectively being his mother figure, Thayet is much more open with Ramsay, especially after escaping the Circle. They rarely fight. For both Marsali and Ramsay, their sibling is the only family they really have, Marsali because hers is all dead, Ramsay because Thayet is the only one who wants to acknowledge he exists.
Marsali consistently shirks and runs from responsibility to anything bigger than herself, only grudgingly taking up the fight against Corypheus because she feels personally responsible for it beginning - and because of the danger to Carver with the false calling. Ramsay grows into authority and takes well to the kind of big picture responsibilities that the Inquisition demands, and he chooses the life and actions of a hero because it instinctively feels like the right thing to do.
And yet, because of their other-side-of-the-coin sorts of differences, I think they would really understand each other. Like they're just the correct amount of distance from one another to have the best view. Marsali sees Ramsay and understands exactly what it takes to be that sort of person, because she tried to be that kind of person and buckled; Ramsay sees Marsali and knows exactly how much love she has for the people around her, because he knows how difficult it is to care for other people in a world that's constantly trying to tear you away from them, up to and including by killing them.
And, of course, because of how similar Marsali and Carver are to Ramsay and his sister... holy shit choosing between them would be torture. Does he let Marsali die protecting her little brother and force Carver to live with a survivor's guilt that Ramsay couldn't stomach himself? Or does he let Carver do what he would do, stay behind and be the protector for once, knowing exactly what that kind of loss would do to Marsali?
I have an idea of what I'd do, but it's still percolating. I think for this fic I'd do an even split in POV specifically to show the depth of their sibling relationships so that bit in the Fade with the Nightmare feels incredibly fraught and tense.
#bog post#my writing#my ocs#dragon age#hawke#the inquisitor#Trevelyan#ramsay trevelyan#marsali hawke#oh i could do a thing with hawke's narrative#where she only uses her first name when carver is around#bc obviously he doesn't call her 'hawke' and that's an extra layer of guard between her and others#only letting carver - not even varric just carver - use her given name#acting as head of the family (what's left of it) by using her surname with everyone else#while ramsay uses his given name for everyone#but his nickname - ram - with his sister and close friends#because ramsay is more community-minded and more open to building found family#and marsali thinks of family as a vulnerable and finite resource to be treated with special caution

Thayet Trevelyan: Dorian, definitely. They're compatible enough as people and work incredibly well together. I think she'd have the potential to be compatible with Solas? But Solas would have to be well and truly over his feeling of superiority and she would have to take him down off the pedestal she has him on to be functional.
Eala Lavellan: Cole! Though who knows if Cole's brain is enough like a human's to pilot a Jaegar in the first place.
Rowan Lavellan: Solas, hands down. Rowan is probably my only one who would be compatible with Solas without caveat, actually.
Ramsay Marison (Trevelyan): Thinking about it, I was going to say Sera, but I think it's actually Blackwall. They have similar instincts, a similar sense of duty, and they can balance out each other's weaknesses. Ramsay would also be compatible with his brother, Locke, and it would shock the shit out of him to learn that.
Locke Trevelyan: Not to show my bias here, but Dorian. He would also be compatible with his brother, Ramsay, which would be a real kick in the ass to both of them.
Eva Trevelyan: Eva would have an unexpected compatability with Cullen, I think. It would be a salt-and-watermelon kind of thing: the last thing people might expect to work, but it really does.
Alexandre Trevelyan: Cassandra. And I think it would start out as Alex being hype and Cass being like "ugh, seriously?" until they find out that oop, actually it works really well and they balance each other out.
I'm making my wife watch Pacific Rim for the first time, so I want to bring this meme back a little:
Who would your OC(s) be drift compatible with? Is there more than one person?

Bittersweet & Strange: A Solavelyan Beauty and the Beast AU
Now that @dacreateathon's collection is open, I can finally share what I've been working on for the last month and a half!!
In the days of Elvhenan, the Dread Wolf ended a great war between himself and the gods, destroying the world as he knew it in the process. Now he haunts an enchanted castle hidden deep in the Frostback Mountains, content to let his tether to the physical world — and with it, his control over the spirits with which he shares his self-imposed exile — to wither and decay. When his isolation is interrupted by a bargain with Knight-Captain Thayet Trevelyan, Fen’Harel finds that perhaps the world isn’t as ruined as he came to believe. Bittersweet & Strange is a 37k-word, M-Rated Solavelyan Beauty and the Beast AU, written for Dragon Age Create-a-Thon 2022 and betaed by @crackinglamb and @ir0n-angel. It contains canon-typical violence, significant past character deaths, explorations of grief and loss, and ultimately, a happy ending. Enjoy!

nnnnn fuck, i have like a half hour left of work and all i can think about is an AU that basically nobody will read and i have no idea where i'd go with it but
i wanna do it
like, it's either an AU or just a continuity where another trevelyan becomes inquisitor. but instead of taking vows, thayet leaves the chantry because she's told about ramsay's magic before he's taken to the circle, and she and her father decide to take ramsay to tevinter instead. they lie about his identity by saying he's a year older and was born to thayet's mother right around the time they had to go back to ostwick, all so that thayet's maternal family will take him in and educate him, making the assumption that he's the heir to the thalrassian family.
and thayet's there, right, she has no magic so her grandparents or whatnot are like "lmao we're not leaving our senate seat to a non-mage but we'll see what we can do here anyway". obviously she wants to stay and look after her brother, and you know, there are some nobles in tevinter without magic, it happens (rarely). so of course her grandparents are all, fuck, what do we do with this situation, how do we make this girl not a burden?
enter aeryk sevarius, a half-elf legitimized bastard from a prestigious family who's basically impossible to marry off, because 1) he's half-elf and his mother was a slave and everyone knows it, even if they don't say it out loud, and 2) he's his own father's personal assassin, and a lot of people are like "fuck no he's not marrying my daughter/niece/whatever, he's probably the reason two of my cousins died at the pavus's wintersend party last year". but his magic is insanely strong, and thayet's bloodline is full to the brim with the stuff, even if it managed to skip her, and her grandparents aren't in a place to be picky at all. magister sevarius just wants aeryk married in the hopes that he'll have powerful kids he can also exploit, and also some extra money certainly won't hurt.
so it's a little arranged marriage AU. i would have to make so many tevinter-based OCs, but i could have dorian and mae and flesh out some in-name-only characters from the games, ramsay gets to live so he's around.
i'd have to come up with a plot that's not just "sketchy age gap arranged marriage" lol

I'm asking for Solas x Blackwall with background Thayet (because of course I am and I'm invested in her husbands slowly and begrudgingly realising they like each other): 3, 8, 13, 30, and 36
ehehehe men are dumb but we love them anyway
#3: Who tops and who bottoms?
Blackwall tops. I think he could warm up to the idea of bottoming if he was assured and encouraged by Thayet, though, she could probably ask him to commit war crimes and he'd be like "...let me finish what I'm doing first and then I'll be right over". Between just him and Solas, though, I think he'd be too self conscious to relax enough to bottom.
Solas is neutral. Thayet's a big happy bottom anyway so it's not like he's put out about it.
#8: Who causes the tomfoolery and who has to try and stop the tomfoolery?
Oh, Solas causes more trouble, definitely. Blackwall needs an enabler and Solas doesn't, which usually just means Blackwall covering up for Solas's shenanigans with varying success.
... or they're teaming up to bail Thayet out of something but you didn't ask that, so.
#13: Would they hate-fuck if they were mad at one another? If they had a falling out?
UM you know what I don't think so? Solas is incredibly grudgy. I think that if they were in a fight and Solas came onto Blackwall, Blackwall would go for it, but Solas gets bitter at lightning speed and ices people out and Blackwall just isn't inclined to hatefucking in that way. He'd rather sit in a corner and feel bad about himself.
They'd both totally have angry sex with Thayet while they were fighting with each other, though, and then pretend they don't desperately want to talk about it afterward, which she would tolerate just long enough to take a nap before stuffing them into a "this is our get along shirt" outfit.
#30: Who is older, and who makes the ‘older’ jokes?
Solas is older, but for the most part is pretending not to be, so Blackwall is under the impression that he's the older one, even if only by a couple of years. Neither of them is too prone to "lol old man" jokes.
Thayet is, though, she's about 15 years younger than Blackwall and thinks it's funny. Solas shrugs it off and Blackwall is incredibly self-conscious about their age difference. Does not help that Solas laughs at her shitty jokes, either. Blackwall doesn't pick at Solas's age unless Solas "starts it".
#36: Who is the one who gets really sappy when they are tired and who thinks it’s adorable?
Blackwall is incredibly sappy, especially tired or a little drunk or whatever. Solas is quietly charmed about it.

for solas/thayet/blackwall: Who does some crazy stunt to try and impress the other and who ends up driving them to the ER after it backfires?
for eala/solas: How do they say ‘I love you’ without actually saying it? Ex “Have you drank any water today?”
#6: Who does some crazy stunt to try and impress the other and who ends up driving them to the ER after it backfires?
Solas does some kind of magical stunt trying to be impressive, gets distracted by muscles or something, and then Blackwall drives them to the ER and Thayet patiently explains what happened to the doctor while Solas tries to sink into the floor and disappear.
#43: How do they say ‘I love you’ without actually saying it? Ex “Have you drank any water today?”
Really tight hugs. Eala is autistic and has very few people she trusts to get up close to her. Solas figures learns early on how to tell when she's getting overwhelmed and goes in for those tight, nervous system rebooting hugs without having to ask.

Random OTP Asks: #15 and #31. Hope you're doing well.🌼
I'm doing well today, thank you! <3 <3 <3
You didn't specify pairing so I'm doing it for the Solas/Thayet/Blackwall polycule and Eala/Solas, I'm feeling indulgent today.
#15: Who initiates PDA the most in public?
Solas & Blackwall & Thayet
Of the three of them, Thayet, probably. Solas is in a perpetual state of "if I allow myself to be happy I will simply die but I'm also so touch-starved I'm going to start foaming at the mouth", so I don't think he's overt with affection in public but is very touchy in private. Blackwall will politely flirt in public, but it's mostly through titles or manners or gifts.
Thayet, however, is both naturally a more physically affectionate person (with everyone, not just her partners) and will habitually reach for someone's hand or drape herself over their shoulders or tuck herself underneath their arm or something. She's also perfectly comfortable kissing in front of other people.
To an extent, they'd be like this anyway, but they're also heavily affected by the social structure of the Inquisition. Thayet being openly affectionate is socially "safer" than either of her partners getting up in her space, so keeping distance until they're invited in helps her control any given social situation the way she needs to.
Also, in a situation where Solas and Blackwall also have a thing with each other... probably Blackwall, actually? I see Blackwall as the sort of person who interacts very differently with men vs. women and is more comfortable with distinctly masculine, kind of fraternal shows of affection that wouldn't immediately read to other people as romantic. He wouldn't kiss or hold hands or be obvious, but it would be there.
Solas & Eala
Definitely Solas in this one. Eala is awkward and it takes her a while to realize she's "allowed" to show affection. Solas quickly gets into the habit of reaching out for touch or affection first, and that only gets more intense once they're romantically involved.
#31: Who would do the dangerous thing while the other person watches and panics?
Solas & Blackwall & Thayet
It's always Thayet doing the physically dangerous thing, Solas watching and being like "...yeah, that tracks, I'll cover you", and Blackwall having a vicious internal battle between "she's fine, she'll be fine" and keeping her in a box full of bubble wrap and packing peanuts.
Solas & Eala
Eala does dangerous shit, usually without warning, and Solas quietly sweats bullets about it.
