i had another strange dream last night where me and parents were in a car, driving around a place near where my grandparents live (like a good 30 minutes away from it). We stumbled upon a chocolate factory and decided to go into it. (btw there is no chocolate factory there). When we got there it had this wierd design on the interior and we were told we can only stay in each room for 5 seconds. Before we entered the first room my grandfather came walking out of it, we exchanged words but i dont remember what was said and then me and my parents went into the room and like one of the room we were in were filled with closes on rocks for sale then there was this corner with games and such, one game was pokemon platinum with a totally strange box cover (though still had giratina on it) and right beside it was pokemon black and white with each having a little reshiram or zekrom figure with it when you buy it (like those packages that have like a pin/figure/etc with them like movies sometimes do.) It had the normal packaging with the figures attatched to them. Then my dad asked me which one i wanted and i was standing there figuring out which game i wanted either platinum or black or white (i was like "I want the reshiram figure since it's my favorite legendary out of the two but white doesn't give me reshiram... while i'd get reshiram in black but I'd get the zekrom figure instead.) We were in that room for more than 5 seconds, plus there was no chocolate in the supposed chocolate factory anyways. Idk how this even happened tbh.

i. so . Hiatus .

i know. i know . i probably mentioned it when i made the announcement post, but my mental health likes to go on one of those rides. yknow the ones where you go like up rlly fast then down maybe and then up then DOWN .... its like that. i needed a break and every time i wanted to come back or thought about it, something would happen and i would get stuck in my own head.

a big reason for getting stuck in my head was (and i hate to admit this ... i hate to admit that i have Insecurities On The Internet) my feelings of inadequacy regarding my writing. i love to plot fics, i love concepts and characters and making little headcanons but i dont ... know if i love writing rn. and i thought for the longest time that like . whatever ill just push thru it its fine ill be fine but it kinda wasnt lmao you can kinda see it in my halloween reqs and what become of them when i get to that but i began to feel like nothing i had put out or would put out would hold up prose wise (and normally i dont feel like this im much more “idc its my life im living it” but thats not a rant for tumblr LMAO). i still feel like that -- like im better as a reader than a writer. but . You Know :-)

when i left, i was in a steadily decreasing mental and emotional state, made worse by a situation at work that really was a case of petty jealousy on my end and rlly isnt very consequential now despite how much pain and resentment it gave me when it Was a problem so i wont get into it. the tl;dr of november and december was me using work as an crutch and distraction -- i know my job, i do it well, it helped me not think about my responsibilities and obligations and inadequacies. of course, as the holiday season grew busier n busier i was scheduled so often that i moved 88 or so miles (according to my apple watch, which i ONLY wear at work since im never anywhere else outside my house) and fell into a cycle of showering n sleeping at my house before going back the next day. (theres definitely something to be said abt capitalism and “grind culture” here but once again its not the time or place snsjkdfds)

at the turn of the new year, i happened to remember a birthday card i hadnt filed away for safekeeping from a friend of mine that id been horribly out of touch with til that point. i started crying because i realized how out of touch id been in general up until that point. the month of january was great for me: i was focused, happy, and in a much better place than i had been before. the end of it brought me down focus wise and im hoping that enough time away from my distractions will refocus me bc i ... need it LMAO and though ive burned out from that level of productivity and gotten distracted again im ... trying to stay positive which i think is the most i can do 😁👍🏼

media wise, i got real into stardew valley (but burned out bc i played it extensively as a way to wind down after work), the pokemon platinum romhack renegade platinum (still havent finished it bc of school n i played it w the intent to see if i could nuzlocke it ... bitch its so hard but its so fun bc of it), briefly assassins creed: odyssey (im one of those ppl who completes an entire region before i move to the next so you can tell i burned out of that one + wouldnt have the time to properly devote to it even if i didnt), got back into genshin impact after pulling for xiao (after not touching it for like . months), and danganronpa. yes . danganronpa 😐 i Know. i stopped playing it after the second trial of the first game bc i was so hurt by the outcome and picked it up in late january only to get sucked in (thank god i had the foresight to buy the second and third games during the steam winter sale). rn im at the start of chapter 4 if anyone wants to come in my asks and um . talk to me abt danganronpa

iii. you realize halloween was three months ago right

i mentioned this in the first section, but i love to plot things. every request is plotted or at least has a solid foundation. i had fun detailing what concept i wanted to go with considering what i was given, and there were some bangers i might touch up in the future. but heres whats going to happen to the requests themselves:

there are two finished requests. one will be posted tomorrow and the other will be touched up (just bc i finished it doesnt mean its good 🧍‍♂️) and scheduled for next saturday. as for the ones i never got around to ...

i will not be finishing those requests. i hate to be That Person, but i feel like we all expected this 🧍‍♂️ what i will do is post all of my notes for each request in batches -- requests that have an @ to go with them will be mentioned in the post proper, but anon asks will be pictured. (there are some asks that came from blogs who are now deactivated but i wrote down all the prompts and remember most of those askers so ill cross that bridge when i get there) there will most likely be an excerpt or two simply bc i think i mightve written a few plot points or interactions in the form of bullet points. i rlly am sorry about doing this but i remember looking at my notion doc with all the prompts and feeling ... like i wasnt measuring up n it wasnt just to myself or to some intangible concept of “other” id constructed but it was instead to those who requested n actually WANTED to see and hear and read my writing and i ...... im gonna admit thats another big reason i avoided this site.

regardless, youll definitely get what i have (and likely more than just my bullet points and illegible handwriting).

tl;dr: im sorry. what i have in terms of plot, concept, and interaction for every request will be posted, but i cant say ill ever complete them and mean it.

iv. so what now?

well i mean . im not entirely sure how sold i am on haikyuu in the content creation department (as a creator n to a lesser extent, as a consumer). as mentioned previously, its no longer my primary focus. it doesnt mean im not into haikyuu anymore; i have a lot of love for those boys but i cant rlly say im even caught up w recent fandom activity and also havent even finished s4 pt2 LMAO thats on my to do list

and despite all that, i still want to share my plots n concepts and snippets and maybe even fics. it wont happen anytime soon. it might not even happen. but i mean . its better than me saying i wont write ever again shjdkfs but either way ill probably use this blog as a personal blog w the occasional ask game for dialogue prompts (those are always so fun i love making up aus to fit like . the most mundane prompts)

as for my works (past and any potential future), ive opened an ao3 acc here n ill be editing n possibly expanding on my old works to post there. tumblr, to me, is The x reader hub, but i figure more x reader fics on ao3 is never a bad thing.

ill be deleting/posting drafted posts to the queue since they were all meant to be queued anyway as well as (sorry again 🧍‍♂️) deleting or answering asks in the inbox. (moots if you get a notif from me saying i rbed your post from months ago ... mind your business) im very hard to get ahold of and its ... a problem. expect an overhaul of the nav n shit to reflect my new direction n also because i feel like i cant tell if my passion for carrd is shared by the majority HSDKLFS maybe its better to read my info in a normal post ykwim .......

and of course . if youve read all this n decided im no longer worth the follow, i sure as hell cant stop you. thank you for wanting to, at some point, hear what i have to say -- it means more than you think.

im back! i wont be as active as i used to due to a lessened interest in haikyuu in general, but i have an ao3 acc now where all my past work will be edited, possibly expanded, and reposted. any future work will also find itself there. my halloween requests will be posted in batches as incomplete concepts, plots, and snippets of scenes; i wont be promising to finish any of them.

there are still fic concepts im attached to and want to finish, but i cant promise any more writing on my end. this blog will be a personal blog with maybe writing, not a writing blog with my personal thoughts all over it.

previously talked about how i happened to find munchlax in a honey tree in platinum so i ended up going for feebas too

ive also been doing more things i never did in my original gen iv playthroughs--encountered spiritomb ingame (i think me and my friend didnt know if we left the underground and came back we could meet each other again until we hit 32, because we never got close to getting it despite also stealing 50 flags from each other. now that i have a ds and a 3ds and both diamond and platinum i can just do it all on my own, so i did)

i was also originally not going to do the great marsh because ive always hated safari zones (thank god they havent done one since gen iv) but then i realized that since im also working on a living dex where all of the gen iv pokemon will have dpp as their game of origin (note: not hgss, sinnoh specifically), the tangela i transferred from gen iii wouldnt let me fill tangrowth’s spot once evolved so im like ok, how easy is it to find tangela in there? and it’s 25% in the right area, so i decided to go after it

got one pretty easily, as well as a yanma (yanmega would be in the same situation as tangrowth in the living dex but i forgot about it until then) and then i learned each area has its own random pokemon every day i decided to try to figure out what they were

at first it was stuff i’d already transferred from pal park because i wasnt going to do the great marsh (kecleon, shroomish) but then... i ran into toxicroak?? which is apparently one of the rarest ones. and also not necessary since platinum has croagunk on route 212 but now i dont have to evolve it

i also found a skorupi, then came back the next day and looked through the binoculars a few times until i saw carnivine, which i saw was in one of the front areas, so i ran in there and got it on my very first encounter with the first safari ball. now thats a fateful encounter

so thats the first time i actually caught the great marsh exclusive sinnoh pokemon in the great marsh, wow! back then i just got them from the gts. the great marsh isnt actually that bad though i guess, if bdsp leaves it unchanged (rather than letting you catch pokemon normally like oras did) i wouldnt mind too much i suppose. still hope they get rid of it though. my biggest fear is running into a shiny pokemon in there and having it flee and the rate is higher in gen viii

anyway i guess the only other hard thing left to catch is the level 100 magikarp in the resort area. having seen gou do it in the anime a while back, im inspired to try

Rules:

1. The character must be considered a Rival by the games themselves (bare minimum that you can fight them multiple times)

1.5: THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ANIME VERSIONS OF THEM if they have them. Or else it would be a very different list.

2. I am focusing on the Main games only, no spin offs. I am not including their ANIME appearances (though I will use Gifs if they are available, if I did a best rivals in the anime, the list would be a LOT different)

10. Gladion (Sun and Moon/ Ultra SM )

When Sun and Moon first came out and I ran into this guy. I thought to myself.

Who the f*** is this edge lord?

Honestly when I fought him the first time, I didn't think much of him.

It wasn't until I actually got deep into the story did I find out how interesting he was.

Older brother of Lillie, Son of Lusamine (one of the most bats*** crazy villains in Pokemon)

He stole an Arceus clone and hightailed it out of there because he could tell his mother was going crazy, and didn't want her ruining this Pokemon, and the lives of others.

The reason he is cold and distant is because he doesn't know who to trust, keeping his distance from Lillie in order to protect her.

He is still low on the list because despite this he is kind of boring and I think he still tries to be edgy.

9. Barry (Platinum)

This Hyperactive, hardheaded rival is definitely keeps you on your toes. When it comes to battles he is one of the more fun rivals to fight, since his team is actually pretty tough, in Platinum. He gets one of the strongest teams IN THE SERIES. With the starter being level 85, which is one of the highest level Pokemon owned by a trainer, save for Red’s pikachu in SS and HG, which is level 88.

Barry also gets a bit of character development when fighting team galactic but he really doesn't have much character outside of it. He is really on here because his battles are fun and really, thats all you really need.

8. Bede (Sword/ Shield 

This arrogant little s***! Oh when I first met this punk I rolled my eyes. A haughty arrogant trainer, how original. He acts like he is the best despite the fact you kick his butt. But then, oh, but then. He messes with your childhood best friend and Rival Hop. This guy makes Hop doubt himself and basically causes that boy an existential crisis. Which made the next Pokemon battle with him SO PERSONAL.

Of course, you learn more about his story and find out why he is such an arrogant d***weasel, he was an orphan that Rose found and adopted, so he wants to help the Chairman anyway he can. This results in him vandalizing a mural in order to get wishing stars for the Chairman, who was ashamed of the boy’s actions and kicks him out of the league as punishment. That was a shocking twist.

Bee ends up becoming Opal’s successor which also changes up his team a bit. This also shows his change in character and while still arrogant, he is at least a bit less of a jerk. Also, he is just so much fun to beat because he is a sore loser.

7. Silver (Gold/Silver/Crystal/ HG/SS)

The Pokemon thief. The jerk with Red hair. Silver.

In the games he starts off as a jerk rival who much like another rival, acts like he is better then you.

But this rival is a thief and he seems to have a strong dislike of Team Rocket.

As the games go on, you see him realize that he learns why his team is lacking, he realizes he needs compassion. When he does learn this, his golbat becomes a Crobat, a Pokemon that evolves with affection.

You also find out he is Giovanni’s son in the celebi event,

which is an interesting twist, because it means Giovanni got laid.

6. Wally (Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire)

I really like Wally, out of the two rivals, he is the one that comes closest in terms of being an actual rival in Hoenn. May/Brandon is more focussed on research, but Wally wants to grow stronger with his waltz

I remember meeting him in Omega Ruby, when he was at the exit of Victory Road, he was waiting for you, having overcome the same challenges you had,

and then this starts playing, and really thats the main reason he is on here.

5. Hau (Sun and Moon/Ultra SM)

Hau was the first friendly main rival I found myself liking. His love of food and being a bro by picking the starter WEAK to yours. This guy was a stand up dude and I can respect that. It also helps that after the 3rd battle he actually gets pretty tough.

He is a pretty good trainer and he love of masaldas is relatable. He also really gives off the go with the flow mentality that Alola brings.

4. Marnie (Sword/ Shield)

I get why this girl has a fan club, she is pure and wonderful.

She is one of the league challengers you fight in the Galar league. I really like the inclusion of all of the Galar rivals, as they each have their own unique take.

Marnie is the younger sister of Piers, who is the gym leader of Spikemouth. She is seen as the beacon of hope for that city, wanting to become the champ to give those punk rockers of team yell some love and respect.

She may look like a rocker, but she is very sweet and encouraging. She treats people with respect and her battles are fun. Unlike her brother, she is willing to dynamax and I gotta respect that.

3. Blue/ Assface (Blue/Red/ Fire Red/ Leaf Green)

(You know he is styling)

The original rival, the d-bag, the guy that is always one step ahead. Blue.

He is a tough trainer and he always seems one step ahead of you no matter how many times you beat him, he collected the badges, beat the elite four and then waits for you to show up so he can beat you when you are tired.

His dialogue is iconic, his snark is legendary, and you all be respecting the power he wields.

You better bring your best or you are finished.

But nothing is more satisfying then beating this smug prick.

2. Hop (Sword/Shield)

My favorite rival in Galar, the childhood friend and he is a healthy mix of rivals. He is tough down the line like Barry, a charming warm personality like Hau, goes through growth Like Wally, but also has a depth that is beyond that. Unlike most of the other rivals, you see Hop actually struggle with who he is. Bede’s battle with him messed with his head, you see how that lost impacted him, you see how he wanted to make his big brother, the champion of Galar, proud. When he finally figures out who he is and what he wants to be, he becomes one of the toughest trainer in the post game. He even wins over a legendary Pokemon with his kindness, a gift few attain.

1. N (Black/White)

I fucking love N.

His character is so interesting. At the start, his team is always changing and he always seems to use Pokemon that he befriended nearby, only to release them later since he doesn't believe in keeping Pokemon contained. He believes in the goals of team Plasma, the liberation of all Pokemon. When he is introduced, you assumed he had some connection with those Pokemon Peta equivalent. But you find out he was their king, and he soon shows why he is a boss. He captures one of the legendary Pokemon for his team and soars ahead of you.

You battle the elite four only to arrive moments after N claims the title of Pokemon Champion. His palace emerges and that is where you learn more about him. He was raised around abused and hurt Pokemon to make him mistrust humans, he wanted to free Pokemon because he believed that was the best thing for them. 

The final battle with him feels like a Clash between Ideals, and when you finally overcome that, with your own legendary Pokemon on your team, your realize the truth, Ghetsis was using him, he was a pawn in a game of world domination.

After that, you see the boy processing that maybe he didn't understand Pokemon or people and needed to find out what the Truth or Ideals he should hold, leaving with the legendary, off to find his answer.

you say the story of how you came up with Sirsha is long and a story for another day... it's another day, and i wanna know the story

okay idk if it’s That Long but it sure is a very out of the way and was the result of several years worth of events, and we have to go all the way back to when I was 14 years old...

I didnt have a presence on the internet much until I turned 14 and activated my tumboler dot com account. now idk abt yall, but in middle school we had assemblies every year about internet safety and the number one thing was to hide your identity and not reveal any personal information. and so. i did that. however, due to me being very extra and lost in the idea of having my own Secret Identity I crafted an entire backstory for my online tumblr identity. 

in my first few months as a tumblr user I introduced myself as Charlotte Roberta Phoenicksen. Idk where the fuck the last name came from and why i did it but Charlotte Roberta has a background in itself. basically I loved the name charlie and like any kid between the ages of 10-12 (because i was very immature) i thought the name bob was the funniest thing in the world, and i decided that my name would be Charlie Bob, and I elongated that into Charlotte Roberta so I could pass off Charlie Bob as a nickname. But Charlie Bob was too normal.... once again i changed the spelling to.... Charlee Bawb. 

one more bit of trivia i wanted to declare my math friend group as the knights of the square table since we sat at a square table but none of them cared because i was weird and i was autistic so i didnt realize that no one else was into my crazy friend group ideas but anyway i declared myself Sir Charlee Bawb of the Round Table. thus my first url was sircharleebawb and yeah. the history of Sir Charlee Bawb is pretty insane as well but for now all we need is the name and origin. 

Eventually I realized saying my real name was not Bad so I started going by my actual name (at the time) and everything was fine and dandy until that time i thought i was a trans boy bc of internalized misogyny due to my lesbianism but thats also another story and I went by Henry and then Ash but then I realized i wasnt a boy so I went back to my birth name and identified as a cis woman. However, the history of Sir Charlee Bawb remained in my heart and it remained close to me because of just how in depth I made her backstory and identity...

Fast forward to my hmmmm possibly junior or senior year of high school? I decided to boot up a game of pokemon platinum bc i really like it and when it came to naming my character i was unsure of what direction to go. im the kind of gamer who never used my real name when playing video games, i always liked to make up names, so this was no different. however, no matter what name i came up with i didnt get too attached to any... until i decided to start thinking about my roots. 

for the first time in years, Sir Charlee Bawb returned to my mind. no way i was gonna name my character Charlee or Bawb or any variation thereof but.... when i looked at the full name together, sircharleebawb, i noticed the first bit... Sircha. somehow it stuck out to me, but it wasn’t quite right. I quickly solved that by figuring out a pronunciation I liked which was sir-sha, not far off from sir-cha at all. And so, the name Sirsha was born. 

I thought Sirsha was a new original name I had come up with but i later learned abt the irish name Saoirse which is pronounced like seer-sha but Sirsha is just different enough I suppose. anyway it was a name i loved so much ever since then i’ve always used it as the name for my video game avatars. 

fast forward again to uhh. Now? last month more like. i have been incredibly depressed lately and i just had no motivation or source for happiness and i finally decided  to do a Deep Dive into my mind which is not something i’ve done for years. ive always had trouble with my gender identity, as i mentioned earlier i thought i was a trans boy but then went back to being a cis woman but... i realized that i know im a woman but it just did not feel right? Ive been a supporter and huge advocate for nb lesbians for ages of course but like the thought i could be one never crossed my mind until i straight up questioning my relationship with my gender. 

another long bit later i decided to officially non my binary and i love my old name, which is Hannah, and I’m okay being called Hannah, but for fun i wanted to try out a new name along with new pronouns. i knew then and there that Sirsha was the name i would choose, and after literally just a few hours of beginning my experiment I realized that i am Sirsha and suddenly... a lot of my depression seemed to leave? this is several years worth of stress yall and discovering myself after so long was such a relief it was disorienting but.. here i am. 

my name is Sirsha, my gender is Sirsha and also lesbian. I’m a woman when I love women but outside of that I am just Sirsha, and my name means everything to me since it’s so personal and it just feels right. so yeah backstory finished thank u for coming to my Sirsha Talk

Legacy Prologue - Kalos

1) That first part DEFINITELY reminded me of the XY chapter, except Y is being the Hikikomori (shut-in) and X is trying to drag her out... It’s a good role-reversal!

I also wanted it to be like the time in XY where Y found out what happened to her mother and she got super depressed. Except this time, X tries to do something about it. Finally.

Poor Blue - it really is probably only going to hurt her the longer she keeps it in. Wonder how that is going to play out, since I guess Platinum's now put things in motion. I think the first scene in this chapter is the one I enjoyed the most.

Damn, for Moon's Pokemon to die like that...that's gotta be traumatizing. I have to admire that determination though, even though she's shaping up to be a revenge-obsessed character from what I see.

She’s pissed, has a bow, lethal poison, and soon to be a team packed with ghosts (and Dark types).

He thought she was a guy the whole time and then suddenly found out all at once that she was a girl and had a crush on him. His response is not going to be positive. And again, this is not dark. ... Though I guess that depends on your sensitivity.

I been a consistent and long-time reader for numerous years now without ever leaving a review. I simply didn't have an account until recently just so I can give my thoughts on some of the series that you make.

Regarding Legacy as a whole, it truely showcases your ability to take the wide variety of dexholders and thiee different personalities and place them in situations that would absolutely never occur in the actual story. I have always loved the way you portray each individual character, improving thier teama and strategies and having genuine character growth. Although Sun and Moon are my uncontested favourite characters so far, I adore the way you use Platinum B in your stories, giving her a genuine personality and character traits.

You also generate a wide range of different and creative settings for each of the characters to go through. Legacy is the perfect example of this in terms of one truely coherent story setting. by using the opportunity of the highest stakes that these dexholders may ever face, you use the opportunity to explore all of the aspects of each character amazingly and how they would face this danger.

Since Sun and Moon are my favourite characters, the wait for this chapter absolutely killed me. Although it sucks that due to the lack of reviews for these characters I will get few opportunties to read your way of presenting the characters What I am trying to say is that the way you write your characters makes them feel REAL. I genuinely believe that these are the actual characters as they personalties are replicated and refined to perfection The way both Sun and Moon react in this chapter is exactly the way I would have expected them to. Being a Deliveryshipping day 1, seeing even the slightest interactions in any media, especially in your stories always brings joy to me. I have regulary reread most of your works such as Special Chronicals and Distinct Events becuase each story is chapter is amazing in its own right.

Aww, thank you very much! <3 And while I don’t know about Sun, but Moon is going to be in the spotlight quite a lot, so enjoy it! Since Platinum is my uncontested favorite, she gets plenty of development in my stories, with new character bonds, teams, battling style, etc. And unlike in DPPt, she actually gets to do things against the enemy.

Of the three major stories I’ve written (SA, Destiny, Legacy), Legacy has the lowest stakes. But I think it’s also the most personal, which I guess means it’s much more important for individual Dex Holders. Well, we’ll see as time passes. And yes, these are kind of things that would never happen in the actual arcs, so the Dex Holders get to be stress-tested. How would they react given their personalities, tics, relationships, etc, in a realistic situation?

Oh. ... Ahem. Sorry for making you wait 7 months. Ehehe... And while it’s true that Sun and Moon currently have the lowest “viewership”, that changes as time passes. Like Black and White in SA and X and Y in Destiny. As the “meh” torch is passed down to Sword and Shield, Sun and Moon might rise in popularity, thus increasing the chances of them appearing in my stories.

I don’t really know if this was how Sun would react though. But I also don’t know how he would’ve actually reacted, so this might not be outside the possibility range. I kind of had him act like Black, really, but without being as sweet... or loud. Well, there will be more Sun & Moon interactions for you to enjoy in the upcoming chapters, so... there you go!

You should start your own project! Go for it! And eh, Discord. Sh*t happens. I wouldn’t call that stress. Anyways. Yes, I use the review count as an indicator of how many people have finished the chapter. Of course, there are plenty of people who read the chapter to the end without reviewing, and the number of people who review after reading tends to fluctuate. But if there is a trend, that indicates a trend in viewership as well. And that is what I look at. Hence the charts. And yes. We’d all like to see how the story ends. Me included. 18) Just found this story and am enjoying it thoroughly. Big fan of your Blue characterization as well, I used to enjoy shipping Red with Yellow, but recently, I've come to enjoy Blue with Red.

A small nitpick - Did none of the juniors comment on Red and Blue sleeping in the same room/bed while they stayed in Red's house in the last two chapters? I would assume the female juniors already know Blue likes Red and so won't say anything unnecessary, but I guess the guys are a little more tactful than we give them credit for?

Heh. The girls... already know, since the girls who are in the house were Platinum, White, and Y, and they already know of Blue’s crush and all that. So White and Y would just snicker at the fact that Red and Blue are sleeping on the same bed, while Platinum would just smile. As for the boys... Diamond might notice something if he spent more time talking to Red and Blue before and after. But I doubt Pearl or Black would notice anything odd. They’d probably just assume that Red and Blue are sharing the bed because a ton of guests were sleeping in the living room, so there were no other options.

Of course, all that’s assuming that the juniors know that Red and Blue are sleeping on the same bed. I don’t recall having Red and Blue give them a tour of the house, so as far as the juniors know, there might be another bed upstairs. ... Though a house tour is generally the first thing you do, but... heh. Ambiguity. No one knows for sure.

2) Well that was...brutal alright. Thugs deserved it though. I'm mildly surprised no one died, but I think that's more because I'm used to seeing that from your old "doom hammer" chapters.

I admit the Santa part was an amusing touch, and I guess that explains why you needed to release this by the end of the year. Heh, Blue's gadgets are useful as always and very effective - that's a nice disguise. That action scene was awesome and easily the best scene in this chapter. The situation aside...it was nice to see Red be a hero even without his Pokemon.

You were right - this is an enjoyable chapter and I like this "brutal Red" experiment. Can't wait for the next chapter!

the battle zone’s real-life location is a formerly-japanese-but-now-russian island called sakhalin. the lower half, specifically. the other island on the map where the pokemon league sits is based off a chain of japanese-owned islands that i can’t remember the name of and am too busy to look up right now. sakhalin is pretty barren, pretty remote, and pretty unpopulated. it’s also colder than hokkaido, being further north, but bc the pokemon-equivalent has an active volcano, the climate balances out.

i spent more time researching sakhalin on google earth than i did actually writing the entire travel part of part 4. like, an absurd amount of time. more than i needed to. but the result is a good portrayal, and an accurate, effortless one. here’s some geography stuff.

1. the squatty plants on sinnoh’s route 225 are probably stone pines. i say probably, bc i still came away unsure, but this was my best conclusion. i cross-referenced sakhalin flora with what i was seeing on google earth, paired with what was most common since these trees are everywhere in the battle zone. specifically they’re japanese stone pines, so more of a squatty bush than an actual tree. (also called dwarf siberian pines, or the genus name of the dwarf version, pinus pumila) in pokemon verse, i chose aguav berries as the pine’s fruit since the seeds grow in pink bundles, like an aguav plant in-game. also, an unripe pinecone is greet, so there’s that too. 

2. southern sakhalin, that i can remember, doesn’t actually have black-sand beaches. there’s one in platinum off the base of stark mountain, but since that’s aniva bay area of sakhalin, it doesn’t match up great. the only thing similar is in northeastern sakhalin, off the sea of okhotsk, where dark mud will collect on the coast and turn the beach dark. i wrote it off as a game mechanic, saying ‘it’s from the ash from the volcano’, or something like that, and then referenced beaches in iceland that are actual black-sand beaches and really pretty. 

3. aniva bay is southern sakhalin, essentially. it’s a fork, and in the middle is where the black sand beach is in platinum. in actuality, aniva bay is not that big. there’s a lighthouse off one fork, not tall or anything impressive, but it’s there. at one point i wanted law and luffy to sail in (i saw sail, i mean like surf on a pokemon okay) past the lighthouse, and go through the bay, and stop on the black sand beach. this was before i knew most anything about part four, though, and soon the idea was scrapped as i deviated towards the cargo ship taking them to fight area. also, aniva bay isn’t deep enough for whales to flop around in, and i realize since i called it a bay in tether that that should also hold true, but i did say it was a wailmer so let’s jus forget that inaccuracy and say its okay bc the whale is tiny.

4. stark mountain was a challenge i spent. so long. so so long. trying to find the  mountain range it was based off of. pokemon wikipedia was no help, bc sakhalin is huge. if i was gonna do anything for the pokemon community, i’d wanna go and edit articles to include real-life landmarks that in-game ones were based on. i think the closest thing i found to a once-volcano was more into the northern half of sakhalin, so after spending too much time looking into it, i jus wrote based on screenshots of stark mountain, and on my own intuition. also, yea, i used video game logic the closer they got to the volcano. please don’t depict characters holding cloth over their mouths to protect from sulfur ash if youre going for accuracy, bc thats not going to help. 

5. the survival area and the ainu village. i wrote a little about the ainu in part one, while exploring law’s village. my main amount of research went into the ainu’s of sakhalin, though. it’s all sorta the same culture, since they all got kicked out migrated to hokkaido anyway, but there are a few differences. the sheer rock cliff is part of a sakhalin photoset i referenced, so it does exist, somewhere. yes, there are bears in sakhalin, perhaps even more than hokkaido, since it’s less-human-populated. but, again, also colder. i realize survival area is a settlement in platinum, but also.. its really small? and kinda nothing, tbh. so i transformed it into an ainu village, since it’s so outta the way of the other two areas down on each fork of the bay, and it’s closer to the volcano, where the fire goddess resides.

the ainu are the indigenous population of japan. i mentioned before, if you’ve read fma or one of arakawa’s spreads, you’ve probably heard of them. in fma, they’re the race that the ishvalans are based off of. nowadays, they reside in hokkaido, and a while ago they used to reside in lower sakhalin. i couldn’t figure up a creative name for tether for them and i was in so much of a time crunch that in the end i didnt bother, sue me. researching the ainu was most definitely one of the more time-consuming tasks. i spent a long time reading. i watched, after a good recommendation, all two seasons of golden kamuy (an excellent portrayal of hokkaido!ainu, btw, jus not exactly what i was going for) and all one season of sirius the jaegar, where i got the most help from. marking maps and writing the outline (and making myself remember why i dont ever outline. ever.) were definitely time-consuming, but ainu research was by far the most hours i spent on a task for tether (besides like, writing it.) 

i still don’t feel like i did enough research, so the cultural things i did include i tried to keep vague to keep from portraying wrong. the bear ceremonies, the signs of summer through salmon (finneon) hunting and huki harvesting, the bear cub raising, the ripping of clothing in a funeral procession, and the kamuy (ainu gods) are all real things and part of ainu culture. woman tattoo their lips, yes. the patterns of the clothing are distinctive (also warm, bc they’ve always been This Far North, and tether!law is a bastardization of forgotten ainu culture pls dont look at his sleeveless top next to his wooden earrings i beg you) there are lots of things i could go into, but im jus gonna leave it vague again and say if you’re super interested, go find an article or watch golden kamuy. 

there wasn’t a lot of pokemon depicted in the wilds of the battle zone, and for reason. at this point i really wanted to keep true to sakhalin, so i stuck with the fauna native there, and the pokemon native to sinnoh, and if i didn’t include any pokemon that actually appear in the battle zone in platinum? oops. my house my rules. anyway so horses, dogs, wolves, bears. rapidash, eevee, luxray line, ursaring line.. that covers it, right? oh, and fearow. okay, so i did include one pokemon from platinum’s battle zone. also wailmer, there was a wailmer. 

why did you include baroque works into dragon’s group?

so. i wrote tether while the vivre cards were coming out. specifically, right before i was supposed to have started writing part 4, the alabasta pack came out, and i was so taken with goldenweek’s real name that i re-read little garden and stuck her into the story. bentham was.. k, no lie, in my mind he’s like a pseudo-rev member? i jus associate hm so heavily with ivankov, and i read a fic once where he was iva’s student and since then i’ve jus always had to include him in rev stuff so that’s why he’s here. plus i love him. good enough, right? and those two are the only ones, so it’s not entirely baroque works. i don’t rly consider bentham bw anymore, like i said, he’s kinda a pseudo-rev. and i jus rly liked marianne’s name. also her, now. tether!marianne is cool. 85% of the story’s sass.

april 9th is both caesar and marguerite’s birthday. i think in the beginning i was searching for characters that share birthdays for a plot point, and when i settled on caesar i settled on marguerite eventually for this reason just so i could make the whole ‘it’s not his bday its mine!!’ joke. and then i formed the whole story on it being late march-early april and based the weather off that.

law’s sixth pokemon. see, i told you revealing it was strategic! you all were expecting null, right? and then out pops silvally. well, it’s been so many years, so it’s natural they would’ve figured out love and trust and such and breaking the mask and evolving. still! aaaa, that felt so good to write. 

there’s more of a metaphor with silvally, even more with umbreon, that i was going for. something along the lines of a captured being being granted escape, bonding with someone, coming back to get due vengeance with the old captor, showing how much more they had become. with umbreon, it was more thing-i-protected-grew-into-something-that-now-protects-me aka her helping law through his nightmares, being a generally supportive and kind pokemon like someone law knew wink wink. also literally protect, with the whole casear thing.

okay mind control time. i reread pt 4 real quick before writing the notes, and im still not completely satisfied with how shanks broke free. i tried to hard to research good mind control depictions but i was more interested in figuring out how the mind control ended rather than the state of being, and there weren’t many promising results other than the victim dying, which wasn’t helpful. i knew i didn’t want it to be the whole i-love-you-so-snap-out-of-it thing, thats so cheesy and kinda ridiculous tbh. i think luffy confronting shanks’ inner self directly and convincing him to step out is nice, but if you pay attention closer to the scenes and how they match up, you might notice something that aids this.

so, it wasn’t just luffy. i know a lot goes on in latter half of pt 4, and all the scenes are disjointed. law and umbreon and silvally defeat gengar before shanks awakes properly. it was luffy, yes, that convinced him everything was going to be okay, and to not falter. but since gengar was knocked unconscious, the control over shanks was already waning to begin with. it was more like, he was already fine, and out of the cycle, but the trauma kept him from realizing it until luffy came. does that help? so basically, it wasn’t luffy talking alone, it was defeating gengar, like luffy had thought of previously. and then it was helping shanks thorugh it, because you don’t just bounce back from that. thats why i wrote shanks Like That in the remaining scenes.

while not in the best conditions as lab 3, labs 1 and 2 were fully-operational and secure facilities, so if you were questioning why sabo and law (mortally injured, mind you -two stab wounds, ow) would just leave the people and pokemon next to a burning lab, it’s because it was secure and the fire contained. the base was inside a volcano, guys, there’s no way the rooms werent airtight to prevent an accident. imagine being That Guy that fucked something up and led to the active volcano erupting. of course they took precautions. also, sabo had been working in the base for a bit, so if he thought the people were gonna catch fire, he wouldn’t have left them.

koala having aromatisse was purely for plot purposes, for it’s hidden ability. i needed a psychic type, and if i haven’t mentioned, dragon’s group are based in kalos, so it had to be from there. it fits though, maybe, right? anywa, yea, that’s why sabo has a delphox and salamence after he fucks off for two years, because he was in kalos. (this is what i’m referring to, if you haven’t clicked on any of those links.)

and, finally, my favorite moment of tether, when lawlu graduates from arms to wrists to finally holding hands. /cries so proud

k but what’s with that ending?

fun fact time i always knew how i wanted to end tether. from the moment of its conception, even before i finished writing part 1 (before i started, really, back when i was gathering material) i knew it ended with dragon in front of the statue of giratina. insert obligatory sequel joke here marianne mentions, before the trio ventures into the base, that her group’s leader wouldn’t appreciate having to halt his own agenda to help them with taking out the hunters. giratina was this agenda. 

originally, before i started on pt 2, i thought abt law/lu taking a different route. i wanted them to go north, up through eterna forest and to eterna city, and examine the statue of dialga. then go east from there, still taking them through coronet, but then through celestic town and seeing the cave painting of the lake guardians. i also really wanted them to go to lake valor, since it was the only lake they could conceivably go to on their way to veilstone. i thought about switching pastoria for snowpoint and encountering sabo at lake acuity. none of this worked out, but it was all supposed to reference back into dragon and giratina and sinnoh lore. instead i turned it fully into a travel fic and then a rescue op, at the end. it’s still interesting to think how the story could’ve changed, had they gone up to eterna before crossing through coronet. 

in all honesty i wanted to end the story on a surprise note. almost like a goosebumps ending, where everything is resolved and then at the very end there’s a quick scene that leaves you grasping for more, leaves you questioning. (also like certain op chapters leaving you with zero answers and more questions than you started with, fuck you, oda) it wasn’t until i was almost done with part 4 that i started to kinda miss tether, even tho i wasnt done yet but my outline had been done for a bit so i kinda was? and then i remembered back in november when i created concepts for ace and sabo before i even wrote that one scene in mt coronet, and i remembered thinking so much about their story, and their travels, and sabo’s accident. and then, not long after i finished with part 4, i had a startling idea, and i had a first line of a maybe sequel, and i started to put a little more thought into it.

if you’re looking for confirmation, this isn’t it. this is saying i have an idea i’d like to explore. maybe. tether took a lot of work, and a lot of time. it definitely doesn’t have as much feedback as i would like it to, for me to invest in a full-fledged sequel. if i start this, if i ever do, it’ll definitely be more lax, and a chapter-by-chapter sort of thing. i guess it just comes down to how many people are actually interested in it.

I stared at the water for a few seconds, i was kind of scared of swimming after the whole incident with team galactic. I jumped slightly when i heard a whistle behind me, turning around to see Platinum grinning and holding the manaphy we had all been raising together. 

“Need something?” I asked after a moment, pushing myself to my feet and walking over “its your turn to try and feed it Pearly” I rolled my eyes a bit and chuckled, taking the manaphy from her and bouncing it in my arms a bit, smiling lovingly.

“Where’s Dia? he loves feeding Manaphy” “He likes feeding everything” Platina softly hit my shoulder, noticing my flinch immediately and apologizing under her breath. “its alright Lil miss” “I dont get why you still call me that. Anyway, Diamond’s on a walk around the lake right now”

I scoffed softly “Dia on a walk? thats a miracle” “Don’t be rude” I laughed a bit, smiling and looking off a bit into the distance, seeing some kids playing with fishing rods “Maybe hes talking to Mesprit?” I suggested after a second. 

Platinum gave a light shrug, turning back to what she was doing. That happened to be ‘prepping’ food. Also known as she was making small sandwiches look fancy on plates somehow. I leaned over a bit to look over her shoulder, steadying the Manaphy that immediately began to cling to my arms.

“What are you doing with that stuff?” “Something my butler used to do” I stuck my tongue out and raspberried at her, only getting the response of her wiping her cheek and giving me a glare that I couldn’t tell if it was mocking or real. “I have to take some responsibility with you two boys. Go feed the Manaphy Pearl”

I blinked, then nodded after a moment, backing off and going to sit next to the water again. Something hit the back of my head and i yelped, tensing up, hearing a multitude of panicked apologies from the girl behind me a second later. “Its- its alright! calm down Lil miss im fine” I turned around to face her, putting a hand out towards her.

She stared at me for a second, before presumably deciding it was okay and huffing in relief, turning around again. I looked at what had hit me, seeing a bag of pokemon food. I gave an empty laugh and picked it up, beginning to feed the manaphy--

Well. argue with it. Everytime i moved food close to its mouth it would slap its little nubby hand at mine. I stared at it after a few minutes, about a fourth of the way through the bag “You’re feeding the magikarp well Manaphy, but you need the food too.” It turned its head away from me.

“Come on, Lil miss made it” I tried again, getting it slapped out of my hand again. I sighed lightly, before deciding to just give up, looking around again. I saw the kids from before-. Throwing pokeballs into the lake.

Panic shot into me after only a few seconds of staring, but someone else was surprisingly faster then me for once, because Diamond came running out of the forest and grabbed one of the kids arms, trying to yank the pokeballs out of their hands before just pushing them to the ground and canonballing into the water.

I ran over to Platinum and shoved Manaphy into her arms, hearing an angry noise from her as i grabbed two of my pokeballs off the tale, throwing them into the sky “Chahiko! Go get the pokeballs from the children! Zelhiko, help Dia in the water!” i shouted, watching the pokemon burst out of the balls and dart to do their jobs.

Platinum stared at me for a moment, before looking at the kids i had instructed Chahiko to steal the pokeballs from. “Whats going on? What were they doing?? Why is Diamond in the water?” I blinked, not yet processing what she said. I glanced at her after a minute “Throwing pokeballs into the water. the buttons will malfunction.” 

She blinked, putting Manaphy down on the table and kissing its head, before running to go help Chahiko collect the pokeballs from the kids. I glanced at Manaphy “..guess im taking care of you” i muttered after a moment, softly lifting it and watching the commotion from afar.

After about two minutes, it clicked in my mind that Dia hadn’t emerged yet. It took me about five seconds to process that before i had manaphy back on the table and was running to leap into the water.

I swam through the water as quick as i could, forcing my eyes to stay open. I looked around, seeing only blurry circular shapes, which i immediately reached out for and grabbed, feeling the pokeball button on a few of them, the ones i didnt feel it on i just dropped, assuming they were rocks.

After a bit of swimming i saw a bigger blob in the water, slightly red colored. I swam toward it quickly and grabbed onto it, now knowing it was Dia, who was hugging pokeballs to his chest and curled up. I started pulling him out of the water quickly, before spotting a Orange shape coming toward me quickly.

I passed the pokeballs to Zelhiko and the Buizels friends, and they also took Dia from me to swim to the surface, meanwhile i dived deeper looking for more pokeballs with two of the other buizels, and what was apparently a Finneon.

We collected quite a few pokeballs together before something else clicked in my mind, i couldnt breathe underwater. The second that thought passed my mind i instinctively tried to breathe in through my nose, feeling a burning sensation slam through my body. My eyes closed tightly and i started trying to swim up, trying to hold my breath again, but i had to exhale, which led to another inhale. 

After a few minutes i was just inhaling water every few seconds, starting to try breathing faster out of panic. My body felt both like it was burning and ice cold. The Buizel that hadnt dived deeper to get more pokeballs was trying to push me up towards the surface, which wasnt doing much, arceus bless him though. The ice seemed to freeze in me as i inhaled again, before supposedly exploding with heat as i lost the ability to see.

Everything was dark and i realized it was very quiet under the water, despite thinking i couldve sworn i heard the buizel next to me seconds earlier. I thought for a few seconds, smiling lightly as i pictured Dia and Platina.

I couldn't stop entertaining the idea of a Pomemon Diamond and Pearl remake and it got away from me

I was thinking about it, as it is highly possible since it’s been 10 years since the games came out already, and there was a LOT to Sinnoh in and out of the core games. Plus the original games were very broken and have now been rendered mostly unplayable due to server shutdowns and incompatibility with sync up to other games. That said… heres some things that Id love to see in the remakes that I loved in the old games or things that could be improved upon:

CANALAVE CITY AND FLORAMA TOWN NIGHT SONG REMAKES I WILL LITERALLY START CRYING

AND MOUNT CORONET’S SONG

Plus all those dang legendaries XD What if they all had post-game side-stories?

If the battle area was HUGE and had all sorts of cool areas to explore all free-range like in Alola

If they brought back the casino jk

MEGA (Prof- Mega?!) Except theres an actual reason instead of the stupid alternate universe copout like maybe Cyrus (That was his name right?) makes this insane machine to increase Dialga’s power or to get to the distortion world and it blows up. Voila. Suddenly mega.

AND THEN SYCAMORE WILL HAVE TO EXPLAIN IT LIKE AN ORIGIN STORY BECAUSE DIDNT HE USED TO WORK UNDER PROF ROWAN IN SINNOH OH MY GOSH

Unique locations and side stories to explore for eah legendary I know I said that already but A SHAYMIN EVENT MANAPHY WHERE YOU EXPLORE THE TEMPLE UNDER THE SEA GIRATINA AND THE DISTORTION WORLD A TEAM UP WITH LOOKER WHERE YOU GO AND DISCOVER HEATRAN THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS THERES LIKE 500 OF THESE SINNOH LEGENDARIES Just in a way where theres secrets in game like in Zelda or whatever where you uncover the legendaries yourself and not through those stupid events because theres tons of them anyway and it makes it feel so stupid and not special anymore that just anyone can get a Phione or whatever

And Riley!!! I loved that kid! He was the only one that actually worked with me in battle And oh right! You teamed up woth people along your journey! That was so nice
