what do you think about all the madness that is going on in the phandom rn?? i love how you just ignore it aksksksk honestly me too, but it would be nice to hear ur thoughts anyway, if you don't want to you don't have to of course i'm just curious

Ohhh wow okay. I appreciate that you’d like my thoughts haha. You’re right, I kind of do stay out of everything all the time unless someone asks me but that’s mostly because I see so much of it and really do not have the energy to freak out. I know some people do like talking about the drama or making posts about it for the notes thrill and all that. I’ve honestly been in the phandom for so long at this point that the novelty has worn off and I’m just like that gif of the one dude showing up late to a party with pizza and everything’s on fire. Like, oh god, what’s happened now?

So I’m guessing you’re referring to all of the twitter drama and the insane theorizing that’s been going on back and forth on here. First of all, I don’t even have a Twitter. The Twitter phandom for me is too stressful and I feel like I’m better off not seeing what’s said half the time because for me personally it’s just not worth the stress to know in the first place. Reading replies under dnp’s tweets annoy me so much I don’t even go there anymore. Tbf though I’m one of those people that doesn’t even like to read the comments.

For anyone who doesn’t know, someone noticed that Dan and Phil were active on the gaming channel and twitter freaked out trying to decode what that meant. The boys removed the description links to dnpshop under their videos and people were afraid that the shop was going down, meanwhile the activity had others busy hoping a sims video was coming, it was all over the place. I feel like my hot take isn’t going to be very fun or dramatic so apologies in advance, but I’ll keep it real here.

I enjoy Dan and Phil. I will always support them, enthuse about them, watch videos and create things related to them. What I don’t enjoy is phandom-phandom. Speculating is fun to an extent and as we all know involuntarily became a part of their audience’s activity way before the two of them came out. Their relationship, their house-moving, dog theories, we’ve all been there with that and I’ll openly admit I shipped them for years. I like keeping up with them, like seeing other people try and guess what cute domestic stuff is happening and I’m an avid reader and writer of fic. I don’t think all of the phandom is bad.

But what I’m seeing, and have been seeing since I joined way back in 2014 is this constant up and down of “let’s find something else to freak out about!!1!” or people suddenly deciding to target Dan or Phil for something in order to, I don’t know, “start” something? I have no idea why I’d want to make my favourite YouTuber sound problematic but hey, to each their own. In this case recently it’s been Dan, and Leo ( @dansdeathcertificate ) made a really well-phrased and concise post earlier today about this if you’re curious. I think anyone who’s been here a while knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Stuff like this happens all the time, again and again, and it gets to a point where you’ve been here as long as me and it’s just not funny or entertaining anymore. I just want to enjoy and support Dan and Phil. I don’t care what they do, they can run their lives and channels however they want to and I know we’d all still love it.

I’m not saying people can’t talk. I’m not telling people to stop theorizing or freaking out or monitoring every move Dan and Phil make if that’s fun to them and they’re not harming anyone. This is just me personally. Stuff like this is just not something I’m interested in. If they drop a new video or one comes out with a book you know I’d be all over that, I just think that yelling anytime something mildly normal like a link change or Instagram story happens is exhausting.

[TL:DR] my thoughts are that stuff like this has happened before and will definitely happen again, it was never really fun, be nice to dnp, I’m tired.
