36. Favourite bookmark??

i dont actually use them, not anymore because ive actually started remembering the pages im on, which is a friggin break through for me dfkjgndh my sister always used to make fun of me when i got angry after she would close my book (Accidentally most of the time sdlkgnjdlfh), but i literally could NOT remember the page i was on, and couldnt even find it by reading through a few pages again. it was always as if the entire story was just deleted from my brain as soon as the book fell shut dflgnjdfh but NOW I GOT IT!!

but i did find a beautiful bookmark recently when i sorted through my old books to find ones i could give away to charity. and there was a BEAUTIFUL one with a painting by francois boucher on it. i dont know the original title but in german it’s called “das ruhende mädchen”, one of my all time fave paintings actually AND it looked beautiful on the bookmark!

28. First book that comes to mind, tell us about it. Rant

THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY. because i just finished it. and let me tell you. oh my god. so first of all, let’s pretend i have something negativ to say about it, which is a lie, but lets PRETEND im a very mature critique and all that: everyone knows the story of dorian gray, just like everyone knows the story of frankenstein, even though most people have not actually read them. so they know embellished versions, as i did, and they are most of the time WAY more fantastic and with several other plotlines written in, that make entire 3 hour long movies out of a short novel (im looking at you movie from 2009 about dorian gray dlfkjgnldfh). So i have to say that the end of the book was a bit abrupt to me, because i was so used to like.... MORE drama. and if i wanted to be really mean, since i already brough up frankenstein: frankenstein did NOT give me that short moment of “oh :( thats it?” sdkjglkdfnh BUT. who am i kidding. tpodg is a fucking mASTERPIECE and thank the GAYS that it ended when it did and im gonna bleach all movie versions from my brain. because they are not worthy. oscar wilde has never written anything that wasnt 100% true. like every sentence is just dripping with wisdom and snark and poetry and art and UNDERSTANDING of the world. it just....... i had to put down the book so many times because i was just like: they are just having tea why did their conversation just change my entire goddamn life???

you know what im a sucker for??? the topus of beauty being cruel and beauty meaning fear and beauty being something idk.... tangible. something... REAL. so obviously this book grabbed me by the balls and ruined me. just......... ARGH. ALSO the gayness. like i know my boi oscar, i do, but somehow i still thought nah it cant be that gay, thats just us gay people wanting to read what we want to read, but damn my dad really took no prisoners. GOD. just i wanna cut the novel into tiny tiny pieces, every letter on a separate piece of paper and then i want someone to threw the pieces over me, like rose petals. because thats what the novel felt like.

and lets pretend the entire content didnt matter (i mean.... thats an impossible task but bear with me) the WORDS alone?? THE IMAGERY??? the words were DRIPPING. like i didnt know that was possible but they WERE. every description of nature or humans or decorations.... everytime COLOUR came into play just........ saturated dripping sensual succulent colours. and at the same time like.... he elevates everything. reading this is like discovering pantheism, but at the same time, and thats somehow gonna haunt me the most? and IDK WHY iT WAS JUST SO BRILLIANT??? when he compared a slick wet street in the night to a macintosh??? like YES but HOW DID HE FIND THAT SIMILE?? LIKE HES COMPLETELY RIGHT THATS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE BUT ???HIS BRAIN????

AND THEN. lets DO go back to the content. i want to PROTECT basil with my LIFE. he DESERVED BETTER. HES MY SON!!! and Harry.... oh lord henry. jsut. i hate him but i love him you know? hes just..... wow. but who needs men when you can marry harry’s cousin? was she his cousin?? i dont remember at the moment but god. marry me pls? thank you.

and just to summarise this: the plot alone, to separate the soul from the body, the fact that sins show on your body, in your expressions............... i just. i am so blown away. just by everything. and COUPLED TO THAT. HARRYS TALK ABOUT SINS pretty much at the beginning..... the gayness of it all, and the beauty of it all, and the PASSION of it all and just.... obviously we shouldnt all become dorian, like thats not the moral of the story, but GOD I WANNA LIVE FOR MY PASSIONS ONLY.

hmmm counting only april, only the picture of dorian gray, plus half of “the castle of otranto”, but if we count the last thirty days as a month (loopholes man, i love them) then lots and lots more because i had to read so much for my term papers xP
