Ok nerds, hear me the fuck out !!

This is my fancast for the JLI, but before we all lose it I need a quick disclaimer: this fancast is what I think the JLI could look like in a live action movie, this isn’t serious and I think if this movies were to exist it would be a comedy movie bc it’s the JLI, they’re not supposed to be taken seriously by anyone!!!!

With that in mind this is my fancast and I’ll walk you through it, let’s go:

Blue Beetle (Ted Kord):

Logan Lerman, off to a great start, i know (lol). Based on Logan’s roles throughout his career I think he would be a great Ted Kord bc he can play a nice, wholesome guy and I think he looks like the character as well. Like Ted, you would wanna put him in a jar and protect him from the world. Also he hasn’t been in many movies recently and I miss him, he deserves better.

Booster Gold (Michael J. Carter):

Lucas Till, just look at him !!! You cannot tell me he doesn’t look exactly like booster, you can’t !!! Besides Lucas has been in many action productions from movies to tv shows BUT he was also the love interest in the Hannah Montana movie THATS RANGE, he can play a the super hero and the goof we all know and love. And again, look at him !!!!

Green lantern (Guy Gardner):

Dacre Montgomery. Ok, Guy is a hard one to cast bc he is the biggest asshole in the world but we also love him bc he’s part of the JLI, we need someone that can play a jerk but can also have a redeeming plot bc again, we love him. And in my opinion dacre is the guy (get it ? Guy ?) I mean, u saw him as Billy in stranger things, he’s a great actor, he is perfect for this role.

Now comes the exciting part, the gurls.

Ice (tora olafsdotter):

Sophie Turner. Do I even have to say anything at this point? Look at her she IS Tora. You’ve seen Sophie in GOT you know she can play the baddest bitch on the planet while playing a sweet girly girl and that’s Tora right there. She can carry this role easily and I think she looks just like Tora she’s also very tall wich is great considering she’s playing a Norwegian woman.

Ok, now we need to have a talk about this next one, HEAR ME OUT.

Fire (Beatriz Bonilla da Costa):

Selena Gomez. I know what you’re gonna say: “she’s not Brazilian”. Yeah I know (I’m Brazilian myself) but let’s be realistic, it’s Hollywood, they don’t care, they don’t even know the difference between Latinos and frankly, so doesn’t the rest of the world. So if we’re gonna have a Latina play Fire it would be great to have one the most loved latinas in the world playing her. I love Selena Gomez, she’s a great actress and she can play a bad bitch and a lovely girl just like Bea. And I even got this photo to help you visualize (you’re welcome btw) and I think she looks amazing, I would add green eye contacts to the mix but I think she would nail it. And also, as a Brazilian myself she has my blessing to play fire U.U

Martian Manhunter (J’onn J’onzz):

Terry Crews, remember when I said that this movie has to be a comedy?? I always thought that Martian Manhunter would be a great comic relief bc of the breach of expectation considering he’s supposed to be a very serious character and to me Terry Crews would be PERFECT for this role, not only he can play a very intimidating character he is also one of the funniest actors out there, also with Martian’s ability to shape shift I would love to see terry play a range of things martian can turn into. I love him.

Max Lord:

Zac Efron, here’s what I’m thinking for this one: Max has to be played by someone that we really love so when it’s reveled that he’s the villain we feel even more betrayed and I think Zac is our guy. Bc everybody loves Zac efron, if you don’t you’re dead on the inside, and Zac had shown us that he can play a villain role, the man played Ted B*ndy for fuck sake’s !! He can carry this role easily.

And last but not least

Batman (Bruce Wayne):

I have no idea, this is the only one I can’t think of, bc although I love BatPat I don’t think Robert is a great fit for this particular fictional project lol, this would be a comedy movie and Robert’s version of the Batman is super serious, besides I wanted the main JLI and Batman and Martian to have a bit of an age gap to show how immature the JLI is compared to household name super heroes like the Batman you know ? So if you have a suggestion let me know bc I can’t think of anyone.

JACK JA (ppl pronounce ‘JA’ as ‘JAW’ for some reason so it stuck)

Antumbra assassin and cleaner who was one of the many contract children that was paid to the organization (totally not slavery btw) by his parents to settle a debt. He isn’t unique by all means Antumbra wise, but he is recognized as one of its most efficient assassins

At the age of 12 he was hired by the Slaughter family to be the bodyguard of Vincent. At the time being two mutant closeted trans children was extremely rough, so the two confided in each other. Vince more or less taught him how to be an actual person and not just a killing machine

OTHER FACTS THATRE NOT HISTORY- he is a romantic at heart and treats Vincent all lady like when they go on those weird totally-not-dates

babysat Francis a few times in the past and honestly. Wouldve probably been a good influence on Frank if Francis didn’t have that weird nigh-obsessive attachment to Vince at the time :/

Loves candy and is a connoisseur of baked goods

Main weapons of choice are a pair of kukri knives

His mutation is purely physical, it simply gives him a reptilian appearance and some physiology (cant handle cold weather, somewhat amphibious, venomous, etc). He has a tail but he keeps cutting it off everytime it grows back because he doesn’t wanna go through the process of modifying his pants for it

TUGARIN

Basically an old work friend of Carmine when they both worked for the Soviet Union. While Carmine was blackmailed into working for them Tugarin at the time was a fully fledged Russian patriot who believed in Soviet supremacy

The economic and socio-political chaos in the aftermath of 1953 (that coincided with the Martian titanomachy) kinda fueled this, and the US becoming extremely isolationist while increasing superpowered espionage didn’t help either. His increasingly erratic behavior, suspected to be a result from his uncontrolled psychic powers, got him blacklisted by the Soviet government.

At some point after Carmine escaped to the US, Tugarin tried to undergo a similar surgery but the Soviets instead took his brain, which is still considered the 2nd most powerful on Earth. They used his brain to operate the country’s nuclear defense system; after 1962 he was ‘shut down’ due to instability and the uh..fact that HE is the one who launched nukes at the US lol

He’s still operating as the defense system but his subconscious is effectively sealed away…FOR NOW HUEHUEHUEHUE

He raised and trained Agent Friday, Francis’s former adoptive parent. Is somewhat unaware of their reference of him but still kinda sees them as a surrogate kid of sorts. Would still kill Friday if he has to

Trans but in a robot way. He was built to be feminine and such but he eventually asked Lupe for a new body, which is his current one! He gave his old body away to someone else :)

TECHNICALLY has kids???? In the ‘AI can self replicate/make copies of themselves’ way?????????? Hobbes is by all means a lesser Hammond but Ham just doesn’t see it that way (nor does he like thinking abt it)

Is very much anti-alien in a pragmatic sort of thought process- he was programmed to protect humanity and the biggest threat to humanity right now is…Mars. And Martians just kinda running around eating and killing whoever they want irritates the fuck out of him so he kills them when he can. He’s one of the most OP characters in the story 

^will still kill humans if his hand is forced. 

ORION

Francis’s cousin!!! And a King Martian who is currently hurtling through space at like 40,000kph. He’s not having fun rn

Definition of spoiled and entitled, benefiting his nature as a King.

When he’s introduced he crashlands in rural Japan without a body so he’s forced to parasitize a middle school bully, which is how he befriends a human girl named Rei (bully’s former victim). He hates having a human body tho cuz he doesn’t like the nosebleeds and headaches he gets from using his space powers (also weak flesh suit). He gets a new body eventually tho

He’s here on earth for…some reason!!! He hit his head pretty damn hard on the way here but he knows he’s gotta warn somebody!!! About…something. Maybe

He’s also on Earth to escape an arranged marriage how embarrassing

THE VEIL

Technically by all means the THIRD Veil- the first one was in 1930, the second was in the 1970s, and both former Veils are retired. "The Veil” is basically the corporate/government poster child for American superheroes. He’s on all kinds of propaganda posters

He’s Carson’s  grandpa even though his ‘son in law’ Carnegie disagrees since Carson by all means is a clone. 

He used to know Lupe!! Back when she was dating USSR superhero Veronika lol

Dont assume he’s empathetic tho; he’s still extremely power hungry and self centered.

Due to the infection + parasitic eye she’s functionally immortal and sort of trapped in her own mind/body. Not much to say about her? She’s the current leader of Antumbra and by association is one of the greatest assassins in the world. However its a hokage type situation where she just does a lot of paperwork and deskwork

Always sleepy. She’s so fucking sleepy ong she can sleep anywhere anytime

Martin’s mom but is largely absent in the physical affection/parenting department. She still loves him tho!!

Tries her best to stay a neutral party as a major figurehead of the League by staying out of shit but honestly it could be argued that this makes the politics of the League more complicated

roy in the new 52 (i know we aren't supposed to talk about it but technically,) thats the arrow. idk where starfire fits in this, i guess she could be the alien like martian manhunter?

artemis, another wonder. Bizarro, the super.

now all we need now is a speedster and an atlantian (and a martian if starfire isnt enough alien rep lol), and jason has a friend in every version of the core justice league. in my perfect world i would find another arrow for jason cuz roy is more dicks friend, but eh.

i think he deserves this. also it would be cool to see an outlaw justice league vs the regular justice league, like a cool ass civil war type of thing. and it would be funny to see bruces reaction to jason having a justice league, like "look dad! i got my own >:)"

personally, I'm so sorry, but I want jason to have friends that aren't usually also there in relation to other batfam members. more underneath!

artemis and bizarro were top tier! their friendship and outlaws run is just more interesting to me, because we get to see jason making connections on his own. mind you, I really do like the potential of his friendships with kori & roy, but I haven't read a lot of their comics and I know there's a lot of backlash with how they're portrayed in rhato. (I still do like his friendship with them btw, especially roy, I just don't think they got the writing they deserved. they would've been so much more interesting if everyone was written correctly!)

I do like jason with his own team, but I'm genuinely not at all picky with whether he's the leader or not. I think he could be a great leader, but its not something essential to his character. like he doesn't need to be the team leader for me to think he's competent at what he does! I think I'd prefer them to stay on an outlaws route, so technically in a way they are the other side of the justice league, but I don't really think I'd want them to be pitted against each other? top tier characterization would be the outlaws doing their shit every now and then and fucking with the justice league, but no real antagonism conflict?

I loved his team up with donna and kyle and would definitely read more of it! but I can't see them being on a full blown team with him purely because they operate so differently.

I would like to see him working with rose and eddie for sure! and I think they could be a great start to building an outlaws team (whether its the same one as artermis and bizarro or not), but I don't know a lot of other dc characters that fall under the same area as jason so I can't expand beyond that :(

basically for me, I love the idea of jason in outlaws and would prefer it to be with people who didn't have prior attachments to dick (even though I still think on their own, they could be great friendships. My Favorite Martian is about being "alien" and "alien" can be stand in for almost every marginalized identity there is - the only exception in the MFM context is women. I mean, the show is also racist at times, and thats because the world of MFM was created in early 1960s America and that was a more explicitly racist time, but the racism is more the show trying to be anti-racist but their depiction being wrong so it backfires. There's at least an attempt when it comes to racism, like the whole point of the show is to be pro-immigration and anti-xenophobia, but the show doesn't attempt to be anything for women's rights. It doesn't pretend to be that. When it comes to women, they're making "women can't drive" jokes and "women must be pretty to be women" lessons (one time, worst episode).

So for these designs i knew exactly what i wanted from the martian and lantern right away, but the speedsters vibe was just "sporty" and i really struggled bc i wanted something that made them look like a part of the flash fam, but also distinct.

Then i figured no.1 shes an outlaw, so she wouldnt really "fit in" with the flash fams design. No.2 shes from the future so fashion is going to be different anyway. So i just gave her something comfy and cool looking.

My atlantean still perplexes me. I dont want her to be an artemis copy, but thats what shes turning into, and i realllyyy dont like it. But im not sure what else to do tbh. Shes brash and closed off from the world, and doesnt really want to connect. Shes cut off her atlantean heritage since it failed her, so i dont think she would wear something atlantean, but how else can i show shes an atlantean unless its through clothes??? And if shes going into battle, then her atlantean armour is all she has. Ugghh shes a difficult character.

Btw, my lanterns name is now Kestrel! Yet to find a good hero name for them tho...

As you can see i really struggled with the speedster, but i did end up figuring it out at the end. The atlantean ive also struggled with, both civilian and hero design. Im still jot sure on it, but i like it for now. My white martian and my lantern where pretty easy to figure out, and i love them a lot :)

Well look who it is. Martian Girl from Planet V. She's definitely one to eat your heart out, and then your brains, and your limbs, and maybe even your liver if she's feeling fancy.

im ngl i had no idea where i was going with this but gosssssssh i really wanted to draw my own version of martian girl after hearing the song, it tickles me “dangerous girl is rlly pretty and will probably kill you” energy. Oh and btw, those little dots above her mouth? Those are her nostrils. Really changes the way you view her character design hm? Thought it would be funny trick. And she probably does use that trick to learn in her victims to eat them.

thats a good question. ive never rlly thought abt it … see the thing is i got into martian knowing that no one was satisfied with one collaborative hc about them . which means we’re all jus making our own shit up. so i guess every time i draw them .. they’ve got different contexts? bit like im constantly drawing them from different au’s if that makes sense !
