I've been in a mood for updating character refs and I knew I had to redesign Sunstone/Daybreak for a long while now, so I'm posting this ref dump with comparisons just to fun. Sunstone is Starlight's brother so I kinda wanted him to look more similar to her (at least in his sandwing form). His alter ego also got a slight redesign. Also I thought that Halcyon (design credit goes to the lovely @snaill-dragon of course) deserved a better ref, since the last one was a bit confusing.

#I haven't drawn these guys in like forever #I'm debating on redesigning Heatwave as well #that's Starlight's sister and the future sandwing queen #but I don't have any ideas for her yet #I tried to base Sunstone's design more on the actual sunstone than I did the last time around #so he is more pink now! more like Heatwave currently #btw he has two forms because Starlight enchanted his armor plate to help him escape from the sand kingdom #and then he got himself framed for his own dissapearance / kidnapping / murder #turns out that if you wear the prince's armor plate after his vanishing you will get suspected of having something to do with it #also I still love Halcyon a lot #Dragon god gave them even bigger wings so they could carry their wingless bestie across the snow desert #it's me I'm the dragon god #wof #wings of fire #wof oc #sandwing #nightwing #icewing #skywing #cinnamon's doodles
