VoicePlay Thriller - thoughts/commentary
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh my god that was PERFECT! Unexpected in a few ways, but so amazing! And just enough spookiness and creepiness without actually being scary to me! Honestly I think it's tied with Be Prepared for my favourite VP release of 2024.
Obviously this is getting a VoicePlay Visuals; the video was amazing, I absolutely loved it, and all my concerns were for naught! It's so fun and cool! However, this post is just to share my thoughts on the arrangement and vocals and stuff. All my thoughts about the on-screen stuff are waiting for my proper visual analysis!
More yelling/rambling of mine below the cut!
Oh god, I'm gonna have to make this into a two-part Voiceplay Visuals, aren't I? Like what I did for Classical Chaos. There is so! Much! To talk about!!!
UPDATE: I actually went through and did a sort of "image tally", like just noting down tally marks to make a rough estimate of how many screenshots I might want to include in a post for this (e.g. "I might take one here" or "I might want two pics for this moment" or "I might grab three screencaps from this moment"), and yeah I ended up with just under 60 - this is absolutely becoming a two-part Visuals post.
Right out the gate it started to become clear that VoicePlay absolutely made this song their own (while still definitely "paying respect" to the original), which I suppose I shouldn't be surprised about - this was arranged by Geoff, after all, and he almost never arranges covers to be just a carbon-copy of the original, and this is certainly no exception!
Geoff's bassline is shorter than I thought it would be (not exactly like the original), and starting with vocals right out the gate definitely caught me off guard (UPDATE: actually Geoff's bassline changes and is pretty dynamic in this song and it's amazing actually)
With that being said, I GOT MY WISH!!!! Basically as soon as Geoff began the whole "darkness falls across the land" spiel I think I nearly exploded with joy.
While doing my image estimation tally, I also went back (for like my 5th watch) and took down some notes on the music arrangement and stuff, because this video has a lot of stuff in it, my memory is not always great, and I wanted more to talk about here.
The "I'm gonna thrill you tonight" bit obviously isn't in the start of the original song, but it is in there! Originally it's part of the "filler/adlib" (?) part in between the two halves of the spooky monologue (I don't know fancy song terminology don't @ me)
On the line "you see a sight that almost stops your heart", J removes the word "stop" (he momentarily stops singing, get it?), and then before you've even fully processed that surprise change, he follows it up with a riff down on the word "heart"!
So if you've ever watched the full-length Thriller music video, you'll know that it's a bit "odd" in the fact that it re-orders the parts of the song, so it goes 'verse-verse-verse-monologue-chorus-chorus-chorus', and I'm pretty sure it leaves out the bridge entirely? The album version goes the more typical route of 'verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-verse-chorus-chorus- monologue' (though having a verse after the bridge section is something I feel you don't really see that often in songs nowadays?).
VoicePlay, meanwhile, take a bit of inspiration from both versions of the song, and they go 'verse-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-verse-chorus-monologue-chorus'. Also, they take the chorus that was originally in between the first and second verses and stick it in between verse 2 and the bridge instead, meaning that we don't get the line "there ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes", which is a small shame because that line has always been a memorable one for me, but eh, minor personal hangup, it's no big deal. And the original music video version didn't have that chorus either I'm pretty sure
(Am I just stating the obvious? Perhaps. Am I actually making a point here? No. But this is as much for my own interest as for anything else).
ANYWAY, time for more actual song cover thoughts:
I loved how each person really got a chance to shine in this - everyone got plenty of parts to sing! (Well, except Layne who was just on backing harmonies and beatboxing, but he still very much got to shine on-screen, which I will say more about in my visual analysis!)
After the line "you hear the door slam" there's a percussion sound effect that kinda sounds like something slamming shut!
The lead-in to the first chorus here???? Like the way it goes "cause this is- cause this is- cause this is THRILLER!" with like the muffled audio effect on the first repeat, like dang it's honestly so groovy and funky
"You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller toniiiiight" yeah that was smooth
But seriously THE MONOLOGUE!!!! That was utter freaking perfection; guess Geoff's experience with doing narrations really came in handy, huh? I love the little inflection he put on "to terrorize y'all's neighbourhood" (and yes the "y'all" is part of the original too), I love the groove/percussion behind the second half of it, and of course the spooky/evil laugh at the end of the song is great. Honestly if Layne had arranged this song instead, I feel like he too would have definitely given Geoff the narration bit, because like duh! It's got his name written all over it! Hell, I made a post on my Discord like over two months ago specifically hoping for VoicePlay to do Thriller, and I said that Geoff would be perfect for Vincent Price's narration, and I was right!!!
But yeah everyone brought their A-game for this, this was such a fun arrangement, had me absolutely grooving, and I shall see you in a few days (probably) from when this is posted for my Voiceplay Visuals post for this video!

I'm actually genuinely curious to know and I don't mean to come off as rude or anything, sorry if I do, but could you explain how Wednesday is a mama's girl? (I saw her more as a daddy's girl than mama's girl.)
Hi! Thank you for the ask! Don’t worry, I don’t find this rude at all!
(WARNING: RANT AHEAD! TLDR AT THE BOTTOM!!)
Honestly, Wednesday being a Mama’s girl isn’t actually my wording, but rather taken from a post I saw quite a few hours before posting, so I really don’t have much of a chance at finding it again lol. Especially since I just woke up 😅
But, anyway! The post I’m referring to both now, and in my other post, actually gets me a little upset (fine… a lot upset, really). I can’t remember exactly but I believe it had pictures of Wednesday cuddling and hugging Morticia from the 1964 sitcom and the caption said (again from what I remember, so not an exact quote) “Wednesday has always been a Mama’s girl, no matter what Burton tries to do.” In reference to the Netflix series, where Wednesday is often antagonistic to her mother and her family, and totally touch-averse.
Now, remembering my post earlier, you might be able to see why it upset me so much. I’m well aware that it probably wasn’t Mr. Burton’s exact goal to have Wednesday be autistic-coded in the Netflix series, but it doesn’t change the fact that she almost 100% is (along with Enid Sinclair being autistic & ADHD-coded). A lot of Wednesday’s behaviors and traits shown through the show are commonly seen in autistic people. Therefore, me and a lot of other autistic people along with some of the Neurodivergent community have been able to see themselves, and connect deeply with this “new version” of the character.
But, unfortunately at the same time, another large part of the fandom for the show and The Addams Family in general, have taken to criticizing this change, claiming that this version is horribly unfaithful to the source material, not recognizing that the Addams Family lore has been changed quite a lot already in EVERY ADAPTATION SINCE THE ORIGINAL COMIC BY CHARLES ADDAMS!!!! And what’s most infuriating to me is that most of these people completely disregard the ways that Wednesday shows her affection to her family in the show. Because it’s totally disrespectful to the point of the Addams Family (kinda like how the animated movies made Morticia’s love for her children conditional).
The point of the Addams Family is to break the typical image of what society deems “normal” and so to try and expect every adaptation of it to be perfectly loyal to the original source material, it kinda defeats the point, doesn’t it? The Netflix series is a modern adaptation that shows this kooky and spooky little family defying the social norms of today, just like the sitcom did back in the 60s and how the 90s movies did the same for their time. Wednesday now reflects Gen Z’s sarcastic and oftentimes dark view of the current world in the most brutally honest way possible, not holding back or coloring over it like most of my generation is expected to do.
And the fact that people refuse to see that? It’s heartbreaking because they’re missing out on a damn good, funny and entertaining adaptation of this classic American comedy series. That’s the problem with today’s chronically online society, everybody watches things looking for something to criticize, LOOKING FOR FLAWS IN EVERYTHING!!!
What happened to watching things, JUST TO WATCH THEM?!? When did enjoying media stop being about having fun and instead turn into this? This, hypercritical behavior of everything that doesn’t fit this impossible standard of perfection?
Anyway! Sorry, I went on a tangent lol!
Tldr: Wednesday being a Mama’s girl isn’t my terminology, but rather from a post here on Tumblr that I can’t find. People have horrible media literacy these days and look at everything two dimensionally. Wednesday from the Netflix series is actually the same Wednesday she’s always been, just adapted for the modern day.

if you were a horror movie what would be the synopsis? what kind of horror movie are you?
Eri…Eri I am kissing your big beautiful brain over and over again this question is absolutely sublime and I LOVE YOU!!!
Okay because I’m a Gemini moon and can’t pick just one:
🕷️ A classic haunted house piece: typical spooky house that im stuck in and trying to escape and all these ghost are showing up to scare me until I realize the haunted house is me and I can’t get rid of the ghost (trauma) and can only laugh with them
🥀 Romcom horror: the spooky monster demon that was sent to haunt/curse me instead falls in love with me and we live happily ever after the end 😌 LMAO
🩸classic demon catholic horror possession: when I was little I read the book of revelations at a way too young age and because my father’s family were fervent believers of it being the truth of what was to come, that was the first time I ever realized just how HORRIFYING and just plain scary catholic imagery can be and I’ve been obsessed with exploring that ever since…plus i believe some of the most terrifying music that can be played is church choir music while something grotesque crawls it’s way to you lmao and okay as a catholic school kid there’s so many horror stories of nuns coming back to life or dead saints without heads wandering around the school grounds there’s just…so much to explore -
also I’ve always had this image in my head of someone or maybe it’s me full on Carrie drenched in blood showing up to a church holding a Saint statue’s head and I think that says enough about my ridiculous ass
WOW THAT GOT TOO LONG WHY AM I LIKE THIS?
🖤
I wish I could show up at your door with Halloween treats and we’d watch the peanuts Halloween special while reading each others tarot cards I love you so so much Eri thank you for sending this in 🥺😭

some of my favorite spooky season movies!
I thought I might share some of my favorite scary/thriller/spookytime movies, in no particular order, for people who want to stay in this Halloween. This doesn’t encompass my entire favorites list, but I figured I’d throw them out there. Note: the scare factor is based on my tolerance level for gore and thrills. If the horror genre in general freaks you out I definitely wouldn’t watch any of these except maybe #5 or #7. Please proceed with caution. :)
Get Out. scare/gore factor: 6/10 for some blood and tense scenes. Just the right amount of scary, funny, and thought provoking. High-concept in some places, grounded in others, hits hard in discussion of being a POC (especially a black person) in a white space!
The Others. scare/gore factor: 5/10. No blood in this one, but a lot of mysterious noises, furniture moving, misty surroundings, and spiritual themes.
The Thing. scare/gore factor: 6/10. Perfect throwback for cold weather, and it takes place in a mysterious and isolated setting. The effects have aged, but the concept and atmosphere still have the potential to scare.
Alien. scare/gore factor: 8/10. I looooove this movie, one of my absolute all time favorites. I view it more as sci fi than horror, but the tension builds in every scene and the alien is one of the creepiest I’ve ever seen.
The Chamber of Secrets. scare/gore factor: 5/10. I’m gonna bet 99% of my followers have watched this one already, but Chamber of Secrets has always felt like the goriest Harry Potter to me. You’ve got writing on the wall, people turning to stone, murderous creatures running around the castle, all mixed in with typical Harry Potter whimsy. it’s a fun time!
Paranormal Activity. scare/gore factor: 5/10. It’s mostly jump scares and bad acting, so I personally find it easy to just put this one on in the background and be on my phone or have a conversation with a fellow movie-watcher. Like #2, a lot of noises, furniture moving, spiritual themes, and one scary image at the end.
Hocus Pocus. scare/gore factor: 3/10. This one might scare kiddos---it definitely used to scare my sister when we were little---but it’s got silly family appeal. I love the witches, the cat, and the 90s of it all!
A Quiet Place. scare/gore factor: 7/10 for child death and some blood. It’s definitely got thrills and heartbreak and creepy monsters, but it’s more a family drama than a horror imo. Love this movie.
The Evil Dead. scare/gore factor: 9/10, lots of gore, a gratuitous scene of sexual violence. This movie is so dumb but it’s a classic. The effects and acting are so bad that I personally find it hard to take seriously, but I know people who are terrified of this movie.
Cabin in the Woods. scare/gore factor: 10/10, sooooo much gore and blood. I love the horror/comedy crossover genre and I think this one is pretty well-known? It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but I definitely would stay far far far away if you are easily put off by horror visuals!

ART SCHOOL | Q&A w/ Mark Rogers (PDX)
Known for his oil paintings of extraterrestrial beings in Western backdrops, artist Mark Rogers creates quite literally some out-of-this-world artwork. Rogers’s pioneer and alien narratives started out as writings that would later evolve into his body of work, focusing on this idea that “aliens are [the] modern folklore creatures of our current time.” We’re excited to chat with this self taught artist and talk about various topics including his paintings, his sketchbook, and his sighting of a U.F.O in 2009!
Photographs courtesy of the artist.
Tell us about yourself Hi, I am Mark Rogers. I am a painter from Portland, Oregon. I have an irrational fear of bees, I am a vegan, and I love metal. Thanks so much for interviewing me.
What is your art background and when did you first get into drawing? I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. A lot of my elementary school memories were of me drawing on back side of whatever assignment the teachers had handed out to us, and possibly getting into trouble for it.
Being self taught, what are your thoughts on the advantages and disadvantages of maybe not attending art school?  Well, I don’t have to deal with the crippling student loan debt. Perhaps this is the most advantageous aspect of being self-taught. I received my degree in Political Science of all things, perhaps out of a sense of naive idealism before the grim apathy of adulthood sunk it’s fangs into my heart. I started making art seriously at an older age, (around 27) and felt that the school-thing wasn’t for me any more. Because I have never been to art school, I can’t completely attest to the advantages, but I do know quite a few other artists who have gone to art school, who also work a few shifts a week in restaurants and bars like myself. The same holds true of political science majors. It seems like I’m on the right path.
Tell us about your current work which feature some prominent protagonist in the form of extraterrestrial beings interacting with American pioneers in the 1800’s. How did they evolve into your subject matter? Before I started painting, I dabbled in writing, but I wasn’t really that good at it.  My pioneer/alien narrative coalesced over the course of many paintings and sketchbook doodles and I am learning more about the story all the time. I feel that Aliens are the modern folklore creatures of the our current time as maybe fairies and elves were their predecessors from earlier generations. I have always loved westerns, but felt that they were sort of boring due to the lack of magic or mystery. A lot of people might say that my work is science fiction, but I am actually trying to create/explore a newer fantasy paradigm that is both magical and American. …..also I saw a UFO in 2009.
Wait, whoaaaa … Please share with us your U.F.O story. It was the early summer of 2009 and I was married at the time, living in Springfield Oregon. My ex-wife and I were walking down Centennial Blvd around dusk, headed to the corner store, when we both saw a glowing ball of orange light silently make its way really low across the sky to our right to vanish over the horizon line. We both looked at each other with huge eyes and say at the same time “UFO”. It was super weird and eerie.
Later that summer we bought a telescope and spent a bit of time each night in the back yard hoping to see something like what we had witnessed, but sadly I have never seen anything like that ever again. That was around the time that I first began painting, although I didn’t paint aliens and such until much later. The painting that I made called, “Prayer to the Magi” depicts the actual UFO that we both witnessed. It might not be an actual ship from outer space, but it was certainly unusual, and unidentifiable.
What’s the weirdest comment or compliment you’ve gotten on a piece? I had a guy the other day tell me that if I painted an Alien virgin Mary, he would have that tattooed on his belly. Some people just message me wanting to talk about their experiences or their extraterrestrial DNA.
What were you painting or drawing prior to extraterrestrials?  Can you look back and see a direct evolution to what you’re painting now?  What was your first painting, painting? I have always done narrative paintings with characters but they didn’t have the same theme as my current work. They focused usually on something personal in my life that bothered me and I would use symbolism to create an image usually with ghosts and skulls and creepy spooky stuff. My first painting sucked and it was of a woman with branches growing out of her head and perched on the branches were crows. I recently learned from Game of Thrones that was she was doing would be considered “warging”.
Do you keep a sketchbook or work your ideas as you go along?  What type of sketchbook do you keep – disorganized chaos or neat and clean? Hell Yeah!! My sketch book is my most important art weapon as well as a wonderfully antisocial lifestyle choice. I have used a lot of sketchbooks over the years, but my total favorite is the Stillman and Birn Gamma Series 9X12. My sketchbooks are filled with thumbnails, doodles and watercolor paintings. Some pages are organized and some are bonkers depending on my sobriety during my bi-weekly drink and draw sessions. I usually go out to coffee and draw once or twice a week too. I bring my sketchbook along with a box of art supplies with me everywhere.
What are the current mediums you work with? What about them are forgiving and what about them is challenging if at all? I love oil painting!! It is my main medium and mega-forgiving. I have tried comic-style inking but getting all the lines perfect on the first shot really stressed me out. I love the slower drying time of oils, the rich colors you can get with glazing, and the texture of the paint. The poisons are fun too! I live in a small studio apartment and my easel is about 8 feet from my bed.  The only thing that is really challenging about oil painting is that packing in tiny details can be a little tricky, but it works for me, and I don’t ever foresee changing mediums.
What’s your specific artistic process like? Does a schedule help you? Are you a morning person or night owl? I am extremely process oriented. My typical flow goes: Sketchbook thumbnail, gather reference, better sketchbook thumbnail, draw on the panel, spray fix and cover it with matte medium, then do an underpainting and then the final layers. After that I varnish the painting and photograph it, frame it, and then usually mail it somewhere. I have a suggested art schedule, but I never stick to it. Instead, I am always kind of working or squeezing in chunks of painting time in here or there.  I am a total night owl, in fact I rarely leave my apartment unless it is dark out.
What artists are you really into at the moment? What is it about his or her work that stand out to you? I like so many artists both classical and contemporary that it is hard to really answer this question. I am very inspired by a lot of my friends and the community of people that I have met online. I feel like the person that most fascinates me currently is James Gurney because he is really into sharing his process. I have learned so much by just reading his blog. I love how he is a plein air painter as well as an amazing illustrator. I have almost all of his books.
Do you have a favorite pair of Vans (classics, sk8-hi etc)? I am currently wearing the AUTHENTIC black on black, but I also have had a ton of the OLD SKOOL and SK8 HI in the past.
What are some words you like to live by? I don’t have an exact quote, but I am very big on the idea of “Grit” as a personality trait. According to wikipedia: “Grit in psychology is a positive, non-cognitive trait based on an individual’s passion for a particular long-term goal or end state, coupled with a powerful motivation to achieve their respective objective.” I feel that Grit is the most important personality trait of any serious artist.
What are you looking forward to the rest of this year artwise? I have been working a ton with Red Truck Gallery in New Orleans, and I will continue to over the course of the year, with maybe a trip down to Los Angeles for the LA Art show and another trip to NOLA for fun. Also, I would really like to complete a very large painting with lots of characters before the year is over. Finally, it would be nice to have the Alien implant in my frontal cortex removed if possible. Thanks so much for interviewing me, Mike!

SWIPE TO SEE NEGATIVE AND ORIGINAL BOY Stained Glass Demon - Medievil . . Hey so were any of you guys immensely scared of the Stained Glass Demon when you played Medievil as a kid? I was, but I also loved him, which is highly typical of me honestly. I've tried to draw this angery boy soooo many times over the years and try and represent him as the spooky boy I always saw him as - but my skills (or lack of) have always failed me - but I've been in a Medievil mood again recently, and thought I'd try again! The second image in the set is the negative which I loved, and the third image in the set is his classic 1998 self. #resurrectfortesque #savemedievil . I wasn't big on his resdesign in Resurrection, imo he ended up looking like the Cheshire Cat instead of a demon sort of goblin kinda guy. So I would LOVE to see him redone again in a PS4 Medievil remake... . #medievil #danielfortesque #gallowmere #demon #monster #art #artist #instaart #instaartist #illustration #illustrator #dailyart #dailydrawing #dailysketch #videogames #videogameart #instadraw #artlovers #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #devil #artsy #comics

My girlfriend wanted me to do these and also I really wanted to do these
1. Coffee or tea?
Usually coffee, but I won’t say no to green tea. Like, ever.
2. Black and white or color?
Used to be black and white but I’m starting to like colors again. Oh my god, I sound like a really cringy goth kid.

Honestly, books more recently. I haven’t seen a good movie in awhile.
6. Pepsi or Coke?
Pepsi, I drank enough coke as a child to make a 500lb McDonald’s frequenter gasp.
7. Chinese or Italian?
This is a very evil question. I guess Chinese, I feel like it’s easier to find a hole-in-the-wall place serving bomb Chinese than it is to find a decent Italian restaurant that sells something other than Spaghetti and one meatball.
8. Early bird or night owl?
Is it possible to be both? Kinda like waking up early now, but I love midnight silence.
9. Chocolate or vanilla?
That’s racist.
10. Introvert or extrovert?
I am an introvert that pretends to be extroverted so he can pet people’s cats and play their musical instruments
11. Hugs or kisses?
Kisses. Always kisses.
12. Hunting or fishing?

21. Sweet pickles or dill pickles?
Sweet pickles are the 2nd most disgusting thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. The first is my brother’s penis. What was weirder was finding out that he wasn’t really my brother.
22. Comedy or mystery?
I feel like most comedies these days are different iterations of “WEIRD SEX SCENES AND AFFAIRS AND ALSO HERE’S SOME BOOBS” so mystery
23. Boots or sandals?
Well, if Doc Marten made some flippy flops... Nah, boots.
24. Silver or gold?

41. Sausage or bacon?
Bausage.
42. Scrambled or fried?
This is a tough one. As long as there’s a shit ton of cheese somewhere in there, I’ll eat either.
43. Dark chocolate or white chocolate?
Darkolate.
44. Tattoos or piercings?
Have both, want more of both. I seriously miss my nose ring.

52. Numbers or letters?
Symbols!
53. Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings?
LORD OF THE POTTER
54. Fair or theme park?
I love fairs. There’s always a hint of “holy shit I might die” that just adds to the rickety experience of riding a roller coaster set up in literally a day.
55. Money or fame?
Money. I’d much rather buy people shit than sign autographs.
56. Washing dishes or doing laundry?
Neither. Shit is so lame. Hate both equally.
57. Snakes or sharks?
Sneks r cool
58. Orange juice or apple juice?
Apple Juice. I’ve been craving some since I woke up.

67. Saver or spender?
I’m both lol. Sometimes I won’t spend a dime and then other times I’ll buy some fucking copper silverware on amazon because “It looks cool”.

Depends on the person. I think my girlfriend looks adorable in hers, I can’t seem to have them without shattering them.
69. Laptop or desktop?
Desktop.
70. Classic or modern?
Classic.
71. Personal chef or personal fitness trainer?

Pack your books, we’re going on a trip!
Tumblr media
So, you finally booked that trip you always wanted. Now, it’s time to pack. Clothes, cameras, girlfriend or boyfriend..but are you forgetting something? Your best friends are waiting just around the corner! I’m talking about THE BOOKS silly. Every book lover does a (not at all mini) tour in the local book store for new supplies. You think what should I get according to the occasion. Summer romantic novels, wintery spooky sceneries and wild landscapes, follow the Brontë sisters or do some biographical research? Well, it’s all up to you! What are your book cravings? Do you wanna sit in the sun and feel joy reading about a romantic love affair or do you wanna spend the cold night in the village trembling with fear  and agony about what’s going to happen to that poor girl a crazy man is chasing in the detective story? Whatever you decide to choose, here I’m going to recommend you some of my all time favourite books.
1. DOUBLE NEGATIVE BY DAVID CARKEET.
Tumblr media
Now, my edition is the greek one as you can see, translated by the greek writer Auguste Corteau. Double Negative is about the story of Jeremy Cook, the resident genius at the Wabash Institute, a southern Indiana linguistics think tank attached to a daycare center. He is very much interested in the linguistic development of toddlers (how they learn to talk). All good and geeky until a colleague of the department’s team is found dead in Cook’s office. When everything is a chaos and accusations such as ‘‘You did it..no YOU did it!’‘ fly in the air, a second body turns up and now our linguist has to use his magic linguistic wits to get out of the story and save himself and his reputation. Now this story is not absolutely a detective one. It has humor,it has suspense, and it has a bunch of linguists trying to escape this chaotic situation. The story could very much likely occur in a company of accountants where everyone is irrelevant to the case. At the end, everyone would try to solve it based on their skills!! It has humor, mystery, everything someone wants from a page turner. Loved it.
2. WINTER JOURNAL BY PAUL AUSTER.
Tumblr media
Still a greek edition. Exactly one month before his sixty-fourth birthday, Paul Auster decided to write his autobiographical journey beginning from his childhood up to today. Examining his own life, Auster uses second person, as if he addresses himself as a stranger, in this memoir of bitterweet memories. I can think of hundreds of journals that could touch me deeply, yet Auster’s winter journal is something of a quite emotional chaos.By referring to chaos,I mean a real deep and human condition of a soul and not just a typical record. Some could claim that it is without order(chronological or logical) yet a life journal with its ups and downs and sometimes unexpected events can only rely on its unpredictability.
3. THE TURN OF THE SCREW BY HENRY JAMES.
Tumblr media
A governess of two beautifully odd children, Miles and Flora, comes to encounter the evil spirits of a forlorn estate who come closer and closer and seek to corrupt the childrens’ bodies and possess their minds. As the story unfolds, she realizes terrified that the children are not afraid of the evil lurking in the dark but they are more than willing to follow it. A supernatural atmosphere, confusion over the behavior of the governess and the children and the final unsolved mystery: Who’s the victim and who’s the perpetrator? You’ll either love or hate this book!
4. 1984 BY GEORGE ORWELL.
Tumblr media
A classic one. A very classic one. However, there are still many out there who haven’t read it. I advise you to go read it at once! The desire for an escape in this book shows the vanity of the world in which the character lives. Noone can escape, especially those who adopt “crazy” ideas like living in a world with freedom, what a man wishes for. Desperate and hopeless situations, very strong images of self-humiliation and a very big disappointment at the end,as everyone eventually must love the Big Brother,an inevitable feeling. It is a book far from its times, prophetic and great for those who like to ‘‘torment’‘ themselves with existential problems.
These are just some of the books you can get with you. In the infinite ocean of book choices, thank God there’s plenty of room to dive in!

Article Halloween Song (99)
SENSIBLE Alternate There's no Monster Mash on this list, simply gonna go ahead and rip that bandage off right now. I now sing it to my two daughters yearly at Halloween but noone has ever heard of it! That is the first time we've traveled to Disney - or in this case, with Disney - during Halloween. Ask the youngsters to test by saying out loud witch, cat, hat and bat, that witch would not rhyme with any of the other words. The Monster Mash has been a Halloween basic ever since it got here out as a 1962 novelty track, but it's at all times had the slight downside of not actually being that scary. This Echo & The Bunnymen cover of The Doorways classic holds its own as a memorable second within the minds of many youngsters of the 80s. A number of the ballads embody an express statement that the occasions in the songs befell at All Hallows Eve. The track's hook, a haunting organ melody, will set the tone of your Halloween get together in a giant method. High Halloween songs are nonetheless one thing that people look forward to in a celebration.

And insanity is pretty scary to me. Editor's observe: This song was really written throughout Floyd's post-Syd period. Certain, it is http://www.scpr.org/programs/take-two/2017/04/24/56366/the-itsy-bitsy-spider-explosion-coming-to-southern/ the most well-liked Halloween song on YouTube by a considerable issue, but it surely's hardly the only music to get the Halloween bump. A classic animated double-characteristic, one part of this movie notably tells the story of the Headless Horsemanan ideal decide for a dark Halloween evening. Due to that, they affiliate nursery rhymes with not only funny rhymes however colourful footage or imaginative hand movements so toddlers and preschoolers improve their language expertise and their confidence as they act out nursery rhymes. Ask anyone to call a Halloween music, and I'm keen to wager that after Monster mash, Thriller is the second most frequent alternative. Was going to pop in Lullaby' however thought it was too much of an obvious selection.

Once I requested Vanessa her favourite Halloween song, she checked out me for a moment before saying, Thriller?, as if no other Halloween song ever existed. Addressing Tutorial Ideas with Kids - This put up is around up of movies and songs where you possibly can learn to goal particular educational ideas in your music therapy periods. We've all been invited to the typical spooky costumed Halloween get together the place the standard bobbing-for-apples, cheap clown costumes and uninspiring magicians are always the same. Yeah in fact Thriller is probably Michael Jackson's most popular Halloween type jingle, however Ghosts is certainly the extra spookier track. Each dad and mom and lecturers will benefit from playing Halloween songs The songs get your kids into the spirit, and interact them. Halloween Rock Band: Ever heard of a Halloween social gathering with Rock music?I bet no one has. Though it issues the terrifying legendary being that seems during full moons, the song's lyrics themselves are mild and humorous. Within the Netherlands, Halloween could also be a recent Anglo-Saxon import, however that hasn't stopped Amsterdam from taking the vacation to its heart, with a vigorous number of themed occasions aimed toward all ages.

The title track from the Skinny White Duke's fourteenth studio album, Scary Monsters (and Tremendous Creeps) is atmospheric and unrelentingly catchy. Five Little Monkeys Leaping on the Bed - Watch, read, and sing along to this nursery rhyme to learn the way to count to 5. Distribute small squares of paper so that the game cards can be utilized a number of times rather than have the youngsters draw crosses on the images. The thrills are actual, however the terror just isn't, which makes Cooper the last word character for Halloween tricks and treats. The Mom Goose Pages: Nursery Rhymes - Choose and browse a nursery rhyme by theme. Let us know who you want these and let us know in the event you consider extra awesome spooky songs within the comments part. This video is genius to say the least and it's one that ought to most actually one that should be on your playlist this Halloween.

Believing that reading at home is a critical component to children's eventual faculty success, we at WIL have designed the Dwelling-College Library Each of our one hundred and one really helpful books has a classic nursery rhyme card associated with it; these rhyme playing cards are https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itsy_Bitsy_Spider positioned by households and kids within the My Very Personal Nursery Rhyme Assortment notebooks. On the fourth day of Halloween my real love gave to me four skeletons, three black bats, two trick or treaters, and an owl in a lifeless oak tree. Much less a song than a pop culture phenomenon, what's most placing about Thriller in 2016 is simply how weird it's in the larger context of the album Thriller andMichael Jackson songs on the whole. It is by far the perfect song for Halloween and the most effective music video for Halloween. In all probability one of the vital horrifying songs within the history of rock music, Bela Lugosi's Useless was the debut single of gothic rock group Bauhaus and often credited with pioneering that complete subgenre, that includes an extended, jittery percussion intro, horrifying scratches of guitar noise and a threatening, endlessly repetitive bass line consisting of just three darkish notes.
Tumblr media
Maybe for the best, though as Dying Cab's emo New Order seance connected sufficient with listeners in 2015 to propel it to the top five on the Different Songs chart last November, making it the most-current hit on this year's listing.
